Connection - Samsung Gear 2 Neo

Anyone has any idea, why if you go outside the phones range GEAR disconnects, but when you come back it does not want to connect automaticly.
I mean this watch got to get a update soon. with all the problems and lack of software.

OK, maybe I got it.
If you go to Bluetooth settings and click GEAR, you got the choose:
-automatic connection
-ask me every time.
So automatic will be.
But I will not test it, because I already put it on local ebay for 199 eur.
PROBLEMS that Samsung has to fix, or the hell with them:
-controlling music via gear to your phone
-giving the option that gear connects to your phone only with the connection and not with the media. (can not use BT ear set to listen to music) like pebble
-automatic disabling the screen when you go to sleep mode
-giving the alarm in the gear directly and not over the phone
-when answering a phone call with the phone and not the gear, sound comes from the phone instead on the gear (this is the stupid thing ever. I answer the phone and people scream on my wrist)
this is the list witch i can not live without, so come quickly my moto 360.

These two have me confused by exactly what you mean. Obviously you are getting rid of it, im more just curious if im understanding correctly.
I have a BT headset connected and have listened to music directly from my Neo while its still connected to my phone, is this not what you mean?
And when i answer a call from my phone, it comes through my phone, so i am confused by this one as well.

WHAT I meant:
I. example
1 (pebble , phone, BT headset)
All are connected, I can listen to my music which is on my phone, control it via pebble (volume up/down, next song pause....) and listen on my BT headset (BEATGO2)
2. (GEAR and BT Headset)
OK, you can only have 2,4 GB of music on GEAR (for the first time is OK, but I'm not gona change all the time my music collection
I connect BT headset via GEAR and listen to music.
3. (Not possible)
My GEAR connects to my phone. Now I want to listen to my music and put my BT headset. I connect my BT headset and my GEAR immediately disconnects.
Now I can not control my music via GEAR but via BT headset and I don't have GEAR ONLINE so it suxs. And after music, I have to manually connect my GEAR to my phone, and than my BT headset disconnects.
II. example
My gear is connected to my phone (which is the main part of the smart watch).
I got a call. I quickly pull out my phone and answer the phone. I start talking on my phone, but sound is coming not through my phone , but through my GEAR.
Microphone and speaker are on GEAR, I have to click BT speaker OFF on my PHONE to talk through my phone. EVERY TIME. And I don't like to talk all the time over GEAR, In crowded places NO GO.
I wanted to disconnect PHONE functions on my BT setting on my GEAR connection, but there is not a possibility. If i just click anything on GEAR , it just disconnects.
And I will not click every time that i have a call. First ANSWER that quickly BT disconnect,.(it is just stupid)
I hope you all have a good picture of the problem.
Am I missing something in setting or what.
OK, I don't have Samsung phone , I have LG G2, but any case It shouldn't do this.

Im guessing the phone call thing happens to be a downfall of not using a TW device? Seems maybe the phone sees the watch as a headset and tries communicating that way? just a theory.

I think your issue is using a non Samsung phone and thinking a device that's only officially compatible with Samsung phone's will and should work fully.
And finally what gets me angry is people not reading what a device can do BEFORE buying it! If you don't then the only person to blame is yourself and not the company.

why, I know it's not compatible, And I know it works... but this are the small problems, that no one knows before you try. I would go in one minut to SGS4 but I love my G2 and no Samsung for me. Been there done that.
So thanks for the info, than on Samsung phone, calls work.
We are one step closer.
Still I don't know if I'm gona sell it. I put 200 eur so in other way I'm gona wait for the update and work it than. (I like this watch... but...)

I have no option on my z1 for automatic reconnect, and have same trouble when getting out of range, the gear never reconnect unless I toggle bluetooth off and on ( on watch or on phone) or clicking connect in gear manager. Must be a drawback for not using samsung phone as it works with my bluetooth headset.
Call works perfectly though.

If your on a phone that says auto reconnect make sure you hit it, I had to test it with my wife's phone just to make sure it worked properly....If you have a Samsung phone it will auto this for you.....If you have a phone that doesn't have either feature ask your manufacturer about it or ask about it the Q&A section of XDA in device category to see how activate this feature.

i have problem reconnect too, i'm using s4 zoom and every time my gear is getting back to range its not reconnecting.
i have 4.2.2, dont have the option auto connect in bluetooth settings.
any ideas?

I use Plantronics Bluetooth ear piece, works great, also there is a free app that allows for ALL audio from the SGT to be forced out the BT.
agreed very much possible. BT headset im using is Hisense HB200S connected to 2 of my phones at the same time.
Not really what I was thinking of. I'm saying use the tablet as a bluetooth headset. So when i jump in the car phone calls are automatically routed from my phone into the tablet which is hooked up to the audio system of my car.
so it would essentially function as a really nice car stereo but have all the added functionality of a android tablet.
data through bluetooth would be super awesome, but this is kinda shooting for the stars.
Did you find any solution?
UP
I'd love to see this too. Basically have sms and calling features on my tab, going through my phone via bluetooth.
anybody found a solution?
i have a carpc an since androidX86 (4.0.3) is out it would be great to use this as bluetooth handsfree.
i agree

I 100% agree, I need this feature as well. We clearly are not the only ones. This essentially is centered around someone with development skills using the Bluetooth Headset Profile to have the tablet show up as bluetooth headset or handsfree to the phone.
With that it'd be great for it to pull contacts (if you dont sync contacts with google), receive texts, receive calls, dial, voice dial, etc. Out of all those, i really just want to be able to receive calls and have them routed to the tab. Everything else is a bonus.
Should we start a bounty?
Let's do..whatever, to make this happen! I would pay!
Pioneer navigation in my car can do it but I want to replace it with android. This is the only reason why I can't do it.
Closest thing i've been able to do for this is my phone is connected via bluetooth to my cars head unit. My tablet it mounted and connected to the head unit with 1/8" - 1/8" This way i can use my tablet for music and navigation and if i get a call my system will auto switch over for the call.

thanks for that info, but in my case I won't have a headunit to act as the "middleman". we really need the option of the tablet itself being able to exploit the Bluetooth handsfree profile

Tablet Talk 1.3.3.1 was released on 4/15 with a Call Sharing option over Bluetooth or Wifi. The feature is still in beta, but from my limited usage in the past 2 days, it seems like a viable solution to this problem. The app can be found in the market with a reasonable price tag of $2.99. For those of you looking for a carputer solution - you found it.
i actually use Tablet Talk and fully support that developer for his work, BUT the call answering feature requires either the phones speaker phone to be on or a bluetooth handsfree kit or bluetooth headset in order to work. It's not the same as the subject of this thread but it is the closest we have so far.
I've been in talks with him and he's still working on the BT stack in his spare time but makes no promises that it'll work or make it into his app.
Hi,
i 'm looking for the same possibilities, but from my iphone=>Tab=>Car-audio
TabletTalk doesn't work with iphone
What would be great is a full application on the Tab with Dialing, Contact List from the phone, the same as every caraudio BT sold nowadays...
I don't understand why it 's link to the Phone OS, because a Pioneer Car Audio BT doesn't care if it s a BB, Nokia, iphone, or an android phone : it's just A2DP/Handset server mode...
I succeeded in sharing my iphone music librairie and 3G to the tab, there 's only the phone part left :/
correction, i can't acces my iphone music lib from the tablett
i can only acces to a itune on a PC, but not directly to the iphone
I don't understand why there is no Car Audio App available, the developer would be rich !
Thank you guys, I've been looking for this for my – project for some time. Can't wait to try it out this weekend.

Same here i have been wanting to do this but with my cheap pos phone
Lg VX9200 has bluetooth and works fine with my headphones with music and calls
Android only sees it as a internet source i just want to use my tablet as a speaker phone with a big key pad
Or maybe even use google contacts and have it dial my phone

Bump to keep this thread going I'll be attempting something similar in the future
This would be amazing, but unfortunately the tablet talk app will not work because it requires your car audio to be wired through your phone which would defeat the purpose. I hope the tablet talk developers can figure something out!

Smartwatch With Bluetooth Headphones?

Hi
I was just wondering if this, or any other smartwatch, can be used in conjunction with bluetooth headphones? Or can only one bluetooth device be connected to phone at the same time?
This could prove to be a massive dealbreaker for me.
Cheers for any info
Good question as I have a set of Motorola Bluetooth headphones.
Ian B
I could swear that I read somewhere someone has a note 3 paired with a gear and using some Bluetooth headphones. I believe they claim they can user the controls on either the headphones and watch to make and receive calls. So, could use the watch to answer and would be using the Bluetooth headset for the mic and speaker.

I mean it doesn't really make much sense to not have that. Would be ideal being able to see who is ringing via the watch but speaking and listening via the headset.
That IMO is what it's all about. Not many people are wanting to talk into their watch and listen via a loudspeaker

That is not possible except if you have a Note 3 or a Note 2 with the leaked 4.3 from Samsung
I have a Note 8 3g with I use as main phone-tablet during working days, 4.2.2, and acquired a gear. Everything (more or less....) was working except the handling of the bluetooth headset. It maybe related some software piece from Samusung included on the official 4.3.
I have seen the update on 4.3 plan and my device looks not included until maybe end of the year or early next January.... uff, sami, you are loosing a customer.
Finally, after test with 2 diferent gears, I have decided to acquire a sony smartwatch sw2 which works like a charm with the note 8 3g. You can imagine for me, using the tablet 8" as phone, that no possible without a bluetooth headset. The other option was to talk through the watch and it looks stupid and no possible to have confidentiality in the calls.....

I used my LG Tones+ headset to pair up while my watch was also paired. It does work, but I had to press a button on my headset to let it know to go to that device. By pressing the headset button while in the call, the watch picked up the phone call first, then I pressed a button on my Tones headset to get it over to that. By answering the the Tones headset, it goes straight there.

Ok well its good to know it can work.. I will wait until my Note II gets updated and see if the agent smartwatch/gear 2 have to offer before I decide.
In no rush but I'll probably get a smartwatch at some point. I just don't want it to affect usage of my bluebuds x bluetooth earphones.

Hi,
IF this is the case why spend a fortune on the gear and not make use of its potential? Why not purchase the new Sony 11? That would give you the notifications you require plus the ability to use a BT head set?
Just a thought.

I don't think its very feasible for the vast majority of people to use the watch as a loudspeaker/phone for privacy issues + annoying everyone else.
I wasn't planning on getting the gear anyway as I don't think it's a good buy. (Given its price). I plan to wait until the gear 2 or agent smartwatch arrive. It would also be nice to also be able to use it see change tracks, view album art/info for music too while listening to music through bluetooth earphones too.
In essence, I don't agree that being forced to speak to the watch on loudspeaker in front of everyone is using the watch to its potential. I find this more a massive drawback than a positive. Being able to use my earphones to listen is, IMO, the full potential.
Hopefully this will be the case with all these watches, as it is the most logical.

On the chinese GV09s / (U8 ?) phone, you can successfully connect a BT headset directly
In BT dialer, you can select 'new device' and next put your BT headset in pairing.
The BT headset can be used for 'local music', (SIM) direct phone, radio etcetera. It works nice

Bluetooth between phone, gear and car?

Although my car shows my phone connected when I drive, while I am wearing the gear, any calls are routed through the gear.
I know it has to do with probably only one device can output the calls, but is there any way to go around this ?
Is there a quick way to disconnect the gear from the phone while in the car ? it's just that it's a lot of steps to get into the settings....
Was looking for something simpler and quicker.
Although it would be cool not to actually have it disconnected as I still like to see the notifications without pulling out the phone.
Anyone else with this issue ? Any suggestions...?
Only other thing I thought of is to find a software that would put me a toggle on the screen maybe ?
Thanks

Same here.
Car has inbuilt blue tooth, if I accept via the car, it routes through the car.
I also have no problems. The interesting thing is, I can initiate a call on the gear, and it stays there for about one second, then transfers to the car speakers. Which is where I want it anyway.
I have the same issue on Tmobile S4 4.2, I believe the 4.3 update has different profiles that allow this. Right now I'm stuck to connecting to the Gear or a Headset, I have to choose between the two since they both connect as 'phone audio' under BT settings. Once 4.3 is release in 2018 (LOL) it should be resolved.
I have a similar problem...or worst

I don't have a g3 (yet) to test but I think using SQL lite editor and modifying settings.db under the settings app, you can adjust bluetooth priorities. By default priorities are all set to 100. I think if you changed the gear's priority to 99, it may work.

Ok, I'll try to break it down. Hopefully, it works:
1) Get SQLite editor (sounds like you already have it)
2) Scroll down to "Settings Storage" and then select "settings.db"
3) Select global
4) find the entry "bluetooth_headset_priority_<MAC address of Gear>" and select it
5) Click menu > edit record
6) Change the priority from 100 to 99 and save
Hopefully, it helps. Let us know.

Not sure. I would try setting both the gear and your headset to a positive integer and make sure the headset is set higher and see what happens. Not sure if this will work or not but it can't hurt to try.

I've setup Trigger profiles to do exactly this back when I was on 4.1.2 since multiple devices can't be connected at the same time on that version. From Android 4.3+, multiple BT devices can be connected at the same time and I thought it was at the OS level where the system would use whichever devices answers the call...... I guess it is a function of the Samsung dialer after all.

[Q] Looking for some help with my note 4 edge

Morning.
I am having a problem with my note 4 edge and my car stereo. Here is a little background.
I have a 2012 Subaru STi with the stock stereo and Bluetooth capability. When I had a note 2 there were *zero* issues with the device automatically connecting when I got into the car and resuming where I left off.
When I traded my phone for the note 3, I lost the auto paring feature and had to go to my stereo every time I turned the car on and select my device. ( I did lots of trouble shooting here... stock, rooted, un rooted, different ROMs) and no mater what, I could not auto pair. Additionally, there were often times where in order to play a call through the stereo I had to go to the phone, select Bluetooth settings, select pair voice with car.
Soo it is time to get a note 4. I figure it cannot be any worse than going from a note 2 to the note 3. Boy was I wrong!
The note 4 does not auto connect either.
I use spotify for streaming the music and have the files downloaded locally to the phone. Without rhyme or reason, the music will simply stop playing and my car will show "BT-A (blue tooth audio) Paused as if I hit the pause button on spotify. When I look at the phone, the song is still playing without issue and is not paused as far as spotify is concerned. I then have to hit the back or next track song to resume playing music.
it is very random.. for example, 5-10 seconds into a song it stopped and did this about 10 times. The drive home yesterday would let me get about halfway through a song before this, and the day prior would always freeze a the end of a song.
I have reinstalled spotify, factory reset the phone without any luck.
I know the next step for trouble shooting is to start trying different media sources and comparing (holidays/work have made that hard).
has anyone had issues with their note 4 and their car stereo? I will likely just be buying a new stereo because this is starting to be frustrating.

Yes it had changes
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Interesting. Man this was unexpected! Thank you very much for your info. I guess I figured this was not a Bluetooth generation issue since it still pairs when I manually do it.

so many changes it not worth buying a head unit cause you still gonna need to modify the phone with the new files as long as it does not need new hardware. if your note 3 worked maybe see if a dev is willing to downgrade ur bluetooth or teach ya what you need to move around.

Well I think a new head unit is in the future regardless, the STi is fast but lackluster with comfort features such as sound. Would it be safe to assume that any mid-top shelf head unit would be compatible? I have looked at a few, they do not seem to state a Bluetooth version with them.
I may just go toy around with some at the store and decide from that.

If you go to let's say pioneer site it has a place for compatibale devices. The note 4 is not yet but in future it might be. You can email them and ask if they will make it compatible in time. But it still not 100%
BAD ASS NOTE 4
drocksmash said:

Have you tried using your phone with another bluetooth device example a bluetooth speaker etc?...The reason I ask is I have hands free bluetooth with my 2014 Nissan Titan, it worked fine with Note 3 I had previously, connected with no issues but when I received the Note 4 for some reason it would disconnect from bluetooth. I than decided to pair my wireless bluetooth speaker I use to listen music from my phone and it didn't work. So I had to get a replacement Note 4 as bluetooth was the issue on the Note 4 as it didn't work, so you might have the same issue.
Damn... i think you are right. Does the new note 4 work fine with your car? I jus thooked this up to my A33 bluetooth speaker and it does the same thing... cuts in and out, plays weird and not right. I already paid 25$ for the screen protector to be applied... im going to be pissed i have to return it.
Did you get a new device or refurb?

To throw another variable in the mix...
I have no issue with streaming Bluetooth Netflix to my Beats headphones... with spotify messing up with my car and blue tooth speaker, perhaps it is a spotify issue.
I will get another streaming app to test out.
How could it work with my headphones without issue, but not with other devices and result in a hardware problem for the phone? This is now making me think it is more likely an issue with spotify

Shows some interesting ways to mess with my car's stock head unit. One of the comments mentions there are two ways to pair a Bluetooth device and only 1 is meant for the owner which includes auto connect. I am going to see if that is my issue and post back!

[Q] Bluetooth Connection Issue (Redux)

Hey All,
I've done a quick and dirty search for this problem, but I haven't found anything that's exactly the same.
I have an XT1060, Dev Ed, on KK 4.4.4, and I'm just wondering, am I the only one who cannot get my bluetooth radio to hook up to paired devices easily?
The problem is, I always have to ask to connect manually; this is a bit of a pain, especially after turning off my car, say, for a few seconds. Oh, it'll connect, but sometimes it takes 10-15 tries before that connection is made, and even then, it's often after I have to disconnect then attempt to reconnect a few times because it doesn't connect both the phone and media modes.
I have done the unpair/re-pair thing a couple of times, but nothing changes.
I had an HTC phone before this, and it'd reconnect automagically to my cars BT server, so I suspect it's nothing to do with the car's BT radio. I really miss that...
Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have in how to remedy this. Fwiw, I'm willing to go through a diagnostic procedure if someone would clue me in to just how to do that.
cheers,
john
I've had issues with the bluetooth and pairing. When I was on 4.2.2 (I think..) it wouldn't connect automatically at all, and I used an app to connect for me. I have a Chevrolet Cobalt and it wouldn't connect to my built in bluetooth for calls or a small bluetooth dongle that I use for playing music through the AUX input on the stock radio.

Once I was on 4.4.2 it seemed to work much better. I have no real issues now on 4.4.4. The only time I notice it not really working right is when I try to connect to the bluetooth speaker in our bathroom at home. If I turn the speaker on, it almost always connects to my girlfriends phone nearly instantly, even though I open the bluetooth menu and tap the paired device to manually initiate right when I turn on the speaker. It usually takes me a few tries to get mine to connect before hers, or I ask her to shut her bluetooth off for a moment while I connect. She uses the speaker every day because she leaves for work after me, so it only happens to me 1-2 times per month on the off chance that I want to listen to music or a baseball game in the shower, so it never really bothered me much.
I think the bluetooth radio in this phone could be better.. I never had any similar issues with my Droid X or Moto Razr Maxx so I'm not sure what the deal is...
Edit: forgot to mention I also have an XT1060, but not dev edition. My bootloader is unlocked and I am rooted, but using the official 4.4.4 VZW rom with Xposed.
I have never had any issues pairing Bluetooth - on either my car or moto 360 watch (even simultaneously).
However, I have noticed that the Bluetooth connects much quicker on custom ROMs when compared to stock.
I think tour connection issue may be a setting or rogue app related.

Thanks to both of you for your replies!
Fwiw, things have not gotten any better since I posted my question. I'm getting more accustomed to it, though.
As for the possibility of a rogue app, yes I suppose so, but short of uninstalling everything, and adding them one by one and trying to connect to something via BT, how can someone go about debugging such a thing?
cheers,
john

You may need to delete the profile for the Bluetooth pairing in your car. Could be a conflict there.
Otherwise, try looking at your Bluetooth settings on the phone.

Is it *ALL* bluetooth devices, or just the car? What model and year car? Are you connecting to the Hands Free profile, Headset Profile, or doing something like A2DP for music streaming?
How long have you had the phone, how long has this been a problem? Has the symptom ever changed?
Keep in mind, just because your HTC phone connected to the car just fine, doesn't mean the car could not be the issue. While the Bluetooth profiles and protocols should be "standard" I've seen many issues of interoperability issues between bluetooth devices over the years. Especially with car kits.

Guys, thanks for staying with me on this. One thing I've definitely learned is that the bluetooth thing is something I'm pretty ignorant on. I can see that I'm going to have to study it a bit before too long. Gad, that HTC spoiled me rotten---at least in that way.
I haven't tried the phone with any other BT devices. This is mostly because I don't own but two, the car and a travel speaker, and I haven't had the speaker out of its case since I scored the phone six or eight weeks ago. Also, I did some housecleaning, so I have only a small fraction, maybe 20%, of the same apps on the MotoX that I had on the HTC. I have no apps on the MotoX that I didn't have on the latter.
As for some of the car-related suggestions, it's a 2015 Subaru Forester Premium 2.5i, which is really only level up from the base model of that line. I can't find that there is a bluetooth profile setting in the car that I can change; I think that it's too basic. The relevant user manual simply states the following:
Media format
Bluetooth audio devices cannot be
connected if they are not compatible with
the following Bluetooth® profiles.
. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution
Profile)
. AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control
Profile)
I don't even know what either of those mean!
Anyway, what I did do is go to the phone settings, and uncheck the Media box that shows up once the car's BT server is detected. Then I try to connect with the Phone box checked. It'll still fail to connect several times, but (a) it doesn't take as long to fail to connect, (b) it doesn't take as many tries (it seems) to make the connection, and (c) when it fails, it fails totally, so I don't have to disconnect from 'Media-only Connected (No Phone)' connection. That makes it easier I suppose. Then once the connection is established, it's a simple matter to go back to settings, and check the Media box. That add-on connection happens pretty quickly, but the process is still a little overwrought, imo.
Of course, KidJoe, up until you mentioned a Headset Profile, I didn't know one existed. But when I try to play music on my phone using PowerAmp, well, the app doesn't hook up to the BT anyway. That's a key difference between the HTC and the MotoX. In PowerAmp, I have "Play over Bluetooth on Detection" selected. The headset isn't being detected at all. So maybe that goes some distance to explaining what I'm encountering.
Again thanks to both of guys for hanging in there with me! I'll keep trudging "onward through the fog," as it were...
cheers,
john
A2DP and AVRC are used for Bluetooth Stereo audio streaming (like playing Pandora on your phone via your car stereo). Not phone calls.
For phone calls, usually a Headset or Handsfree profiles are used, and sometimes BT Phone Book Access (so you can see your phone's contact names/numbers on the car's screen).
I've run into compatibility issues between some phones and some Headset/Handfree devices (mostly cars, but a few bluetooth headsets too). Often times when this happens, you're stuck. Each side will blame the other (i.e. Moto will blame the Subaru car stereo, and Subaru will blame the phone).
I have had issues re-connecting to my car (a 2011 Saab 9-4x with Bose/Nav), IF I had my Moto S11 Flex HD headset connected to my Moto X before I got in the car (even if the S11 was powered off/disconnected from the X before I started the car). Usually toggling the X's bluetooth off/on, and sometimes worst case rebooting the phone, has always fixed it.. Another time I had troubles connecting to my Saab's car kit was when my wife was using her phone to stream audio. The next time I got in the car, I had to manually connect my phone. The car always tries to connect to the the last phone used, so it was looking for my wifes and it took a while before it timed out. When it did time out, it didn't look for mine.
Since you have a 2015 Subaru, I would consider visiting your car dealer, ask them to help with pairing the phone properly, and making sure its working right. See what they have to say.
My bluetooth in my car stopped pairing the other day, and it turns out it was an app that updated and requested permissions related to bluetooth. I didn't notice them because it's an app I trust so I accepted the new permissions without really looking at it.
I used App Settings (Xposed module) to disable the permissions and my bluetooth works fine again.
I could still pair with things if I went to the bluetooth paired device list and manually tapped on the device I wanted to connect with, but it would not pair automatically (like when I got in my car). Once I disabled that permission, it started working again without issue.
May be worth a look through your installed apps to see if anything has access to bluetooth and may be interfering.
Hey All,
Thanks again for the continued help!
It's true, I didn't do any research on app interference before I posted this thread topic, but since a couple of you have brought it up, I decided to do a little research. I installed a permissions app, and took a look at the permissions that allows an app to automatically seek out, and pair with, Bluetooth servers. I have to admit, I got some surprises there. (Who would've thought that Beautiful Widgets needed that permission; it is now gone.)
Anyway, most of the remaining apps are either system/Moto-related, or ones I would really like to keep. I'll report back on what I learn. If there are other permissions that I need to reference besides the two pairing-connecting to Bluetooth ones please let me know...
cheers,
john
