No, for now a reply with s-voice is only possible with the default message app.

Google Hangouts 2.0 and Gear Notifications

Anyone successfully using this yet? I'd like to use the SMS feature of hangouts, but still receive my text notifications on the gear. However I don't want to get double notifications on my phone.
Anyone tried this out yet?

Yes ive done it. I did disable notifications from the stock samsung messaging app. Theres only one downside to it. You only get notified that youve received a hangouts message on your gear but you cant read it on the watch

Way to dig up an irrelevant thread from 3 months ago. Since the Gear Manager update in December i think it was, you can get previews of notifications on the watch from all apps, including Hangouts.

If you install null_, then tether the Gear to the internet, you can use the play store on the Gear to install the full hangouts app on the watch. Then you can reply to messages on the watch, but you'll have to keep internet tethering on to do it.

Hi, have you personally done this? I got my gear a few days ago. And i havnt flashed a custom rom on it yet. But if you can confirm you have done this than i will most certainly go ahead with it! Thanks.
you i have done this. It only works for "internet" hangout messages though, not SMS.
keeping internet tethering enabled all the time is a battery killer for the watch and the phone though.

[Q] Set up call rejection messages in Gear wach

Hello,
I changed rejection sms via Note 3.
Gear Manager→Notifications→SMS samples
But those messages do not occur in Samsung Gear Watch.
I deleted messages that i do not use and i added 2 messages i most likely will use when somone calls me and i reject call via Gear Watch.
Anyone knows how to get those in to Gear Watch?
As Gear wach gives an option to reply fast.
Exaplme mister x is alling mister y
Mister y rejects call via gear watch and that will bring up sample messages in gear wach. Clicking message i want it will be sent to user who called mister y at that point.
Is there any other bugs? Do i need to have country code in my contacts lists front of every number or...

I have noticed the same issue. It might be a bug in the Gear Manager.
Hello,
Did anyone find a solution here. Even with gear-s I can't figure out how to manage call rejection messages
Edit: I've found it .. Just edit "call rejection messages" from "call" settings.

[Q] Can the Gear get notifications from 3rd party SMS apps?

Or do I NEED to use the TouchWiz messaging app? Because I use EvolveSMS, so i was wondering if I'd still receive text message notifications on the Gear? Thanks.
Was gonna buy one today, but I saw online that the Galaxy Gear 2 is dropping in a couple of weeks with the S5! So I'll probably just wait for the Gear 2. But still wondering this question... thanks to anyone that ca help!
I use EvolveSMS and the notifactions work I can even read them just can't respond with the gear or S Voice just open on phone to respond

That kinda really sucks lol. That's the whole point to be able to respond too!
You could always send through the stock messaging app but personally i don't like S Voice kind of slow and the sound is always broke up compared to Google voice

What else can you do thru the Gear, rather than using your phone? I know you can make/accept/deny calls... but what else?! Can I, let's say, send a tweet?

I can send a tweet from mine. Although a bit of a different topic...I can also start my car from mine (directed smart start), control my thermostat at home (Nest), watch live TV (Slingplayer), get emails, check sportscenter app, sign into bank app, check fandango etc. You can do just about anything with it. Granted some things might not be as practical as when done on your phone but can be convenient on the gear in certain situations.
Oh... And I get my text notification via Handcent sent to my gear but as mentioned before I can't reply directly from that notification. I usually just send a text command through s voice to respond.

That's F'ING SICK!!! Can't wait, I'm 100% getting the Gear 2 when it comes out, I'm so excited. But what do you mean by your last statement "I usually just send a text command through s voice to respond."??
I get my text notifications through Handcent but you can't type a response or a pre typed response from that message view. I just activate s voice on the gear and say "text whomever". The gear will process that and respond with "whats your message?" I speak my message, it responds by showing a printed version of what I said and asks to confirm if I want to send it. I say yes and it sends the text.
Oh and for most of the other things I mentioned above, the gear of course requires Internet access via blue tooth tethering. Easily doable though.

How is it that you can respond to texts through S Voice i deleted the stock messaging app and use EvolveSMS but can't respond with it
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
It isn't a "direct" response per se but when I use s voice to send a text back to the person that texted me it sends it and it falls in line with the rest of the conversation in Handcent. If that makes sense.

To me it sound like you are sending through the stock app but prefer to use handcent do you still have the stock app on your phone..

I use GoSMS, but whenever I get MMS I open up the stock messaging app (so I can respond while watching the video). Any messages sent/received go to both Messaging and GoSMS, so if I were to use a gear, I imagine I would get notifications on the gear through GoSMS and then just use S Voice to respond (through Messaging). When I go on my phone later, both SMS apps would still have the entire conversation.
Problem is what about when/if your phone is running KitKat and you can only run 1 messaging app....?!

Replying to Texts While Paired to a Galaxy S5

Has anyone with a Galaxy S5 (using the stock Messaging app) had a problem with responding to SMS text messages from their watch? For me, I'm given the option to reply, but as soon as I do, it just shows the green circle with the check mark and says replied. No voice typing prompt ever comes up. Has anyone found a workaround? I really don't want to use Hangouts for SMS, or any other texting app for that matter, because the stock app integrates very nicely with the S-View cover window on the phone. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Workarounds?

I have the exact same problem, using it with my GS5... The only work around i found is to use google now using your voice to reply...

Question No sound when sending text messages?

Hi - I'm currently using the default/Samsung Messages for texting and I've noticed there's never a "message sent" sound (like a swoosh or something) when you send a text - is this normal?
Also, when the app is open and you're texting/chatting with someone, there's no message-received sound like there usually is (when you're not using the app)... again, is this normal?
Thanks.
I believe that you can find all your answers here:
Use the Samsung Messages app on your Galaxy phone or tablet
The Messages app on your Galaxy phone or tablet can be used to send texts, photos, videos, and emojis. You can also mute or unmute conversations.

I don't think these are part of Samsung messages. Is it safe to assume you have arrived from an ios device?

No, I've always used Android... I've been using the Textra app for the last couple of years though. As you say though, these sounds are probably not part of Samsung Messages...
