Had the same issue. Really not happy

A few of my friends who also bought the S5 have suffered the same fate too. I think this is a Trading Standards or BBC Watchdog situation. I will speak to Samsung tomorrow to see what they are prepared to do.

I have sent a Combined tweet which was tweeted to SamsungMobileUK, Dropbox and BBCWatchdog, and asked for a response from them. I am @Gavinfabiani on twitter. If you see this tweet, please can you RT.
We really need to stop the practice.

And you purchased from a participating network or retailer?
I didn't purchase from a participating network or retailer so I can't comment on this one.
Did you read the fine print that Samsung linked to on the dropbox site??
https://www.dropbox.com/help/297
Clearly says that each account can only get the offer ONCE. So if you got it from a past phone, to bad, so sad you can't get it again with a new phone.

I had since read that after I ran into problems. BUT that is from Dropbox not Samsung.
Samsung's website makes NO reference to any small print. Part of buying the S5 was the £500 worth of software incentives. Dropbox was 2 years free. I don't care what anyone says its is wrong and misleading. if I was alone I wouldnt have had 100s of people contact me saying it has happened to them as well. So everybody is making the same assumption.
Therefore it is misleading. All the other software "gifts" have been redeemable as advertised. So why not Dropbox....
Even worse, I have 30 days left on my Dropbox account before an old offer expired. If I had used temporarily Google for example, then a month later it would have been possible to sign in and get the 50gb.

Managed to get the 50GB using my S5 but it wasn't automatically credited to my Dropbox account...
I had to click a link on an email Dropbox sent me and then do a number of the 7-8 things the web page the link sent me to asked for.
This was stuff like read the tutorial, install Dropbox on a PC and login with the same account, share a folder with your friends, etc.
It took a few days for my email to come through and you'll probably find if you use a common email provider (Gmail, Hotmail, etc.) then it's probably been marked as spam and moved to your Junk folder!

Thanks for replying. Sadly this wont work for me and many others.
I have spoken to Samsung today at Head Office and highlighted the following offers that arent working -
1) Dropbox storage
2) Box 10gb storage
3) Wall Street Journal 6 months sub
4) Free gift via Samsung website
They have realised there are problems and I gave them my reasons as to why I believe it is not working.
I should have an update on Monday late afternoon.

Ah I'm really pissed off about this.

yep...my 2 years expires this june from my s3....
my s4 never got it ..and now my s5 didnt get it
they should just restart the 2 years from the moment you get the latest device like a cell phone contract
this is complete BS
I think in order to spite both samsung and dropbox, I will buy an unlocked s5...use the dropbox dea after mine expires to get it back, and return it....
FU samsung and dropbox

In case you are all having your period, or you purposely disregarded any USEFUL information, it does clearly show on your website, and on the official samsung website that TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY. In case you have not seen them, you can take a look at them here and here
People should spend less time whining and more time reading! Samsung has these gifts for their users, please point me out to any other company that does the same. No matter how you try to get in the promotion twice, you cannot since the terms CLEARLY state that only ONE promotion per account. So unless you have never had dropbox on a previous samsung device, you will not be given an extra 50GB each time you buy a samsung device. If this pissed you off, go get and iphone and put your head in the iclouds and see how that goes for you!
So to answer you, the dropbox promo has been redeemed on my S3, so It will expire soon enough, i dont care about box, i did get the WSJ 6 month subscription by going into Samsung Apps - Categories - Galaxy Gifts and as for the rest, if you register your device, they will send you a 50% off coupon to redeem on orders of 50$ or less on Samsung website. Once again, which other company does this? Oh right, none

The link to the terms on conditions are not in reference to the gifts for the S5, and neither are the clearly linked anywhere, so stop giving Samsung a get out of jail card. Perhaps you work for them?
Each phone costs £500 plus and Samsung promote buy our phone to get £500 in gifts. In any event this problem has no been elevated to Samsung Head Office and Dropbox and an update on this position will appear by Tuesday.
If you had for example Dropbox offer in force, then the period should be extended rather than the size limit as an alternative. In theory, you penalise people who buy Samsung's products more often. And that makes sense. NOT.

Sorry, but you are getting confused between 2 types of Samsung gifts. Just shows how misleading it is. That is only one part of the offers. The other part is the Samsung Gifts via the Samsung Apps that are advertised on Samsung UK website where they list all the software app services and products. Samsung's website recently got updated in the last week or so, and they have changed the offers too.
I have discussed with situation with Samsung and they agree it is not clear and are investigating with the respective Head Office teams.

Same here.

I did wonder what was going to happen when my upcoming expiry happened. I guess now I know. I'd assumed that I'd need to clear data in dropbox app after expiry and since the extra storage hadn't been claimed on THIS phone, I'd get it then. Silly, naieve me.
I can understand not having the extra storage added if you've already got an unexpired promotion happening (i.e. already claimed and are using the extra 48GB) - but I've had 3 phones since I first activated the promotion, all of which offered "free 50GB", and yet it still expires in about a month.
I'll be interested to see if their stance changes, but I won't be holding my breath.

At what point does the Nexus 4 launch officially become a failure?

I was disappointed to find the Play store broken and then the Nexus 4 sold out when it reappeared on the day of it's "launch".
Probably not as disappointed as the people who did place an order and then didn't get their phone and are still waiting though.
With no idea of when it's coming back into stock and the busiest shopping day of the year in the US tomorrow, the Nexus 4 is going to lose the traction in the media and minds of the public that it had.
If the rumors about no stock until December are true, a lot of people will buy something else. As it is, there are already new handsets appearing (like the HTC Droid DNA) and if we see similar shortages and a similar clusterf*** on the sales and fulfillment side of things, getting phones before Xmas could well be doubtful, certainly getting a defective phone could mean no chance of a return/replacement if being purchase for a Christmas present.
I had to laugh when many of the Android blogs are leading with a story about the official N4 bumper case... and the comments to those articles are full of anger from Google customers still waiting for the phone, never mind the case.
When do you call this "launch" more of a failure to launch?
As far as I am concerned, it's a FAIL.
I guess it depends on who's looking at it,right?

Yep. Point of view is key. Phone sold out in under an hour due to massive demand? People so eager to get their hands on it they resort to overpriced Ebay and store sales. That's a marketing department's wet dream.

It's easy to sell anything out if you only have a tiny number of them
And with no system for taking orders, no information of when new stock is arriving and in some cases no shipping date for people who did manage to order, I'd say a lot of that demand could trickle away.
They are certainly making Apple look good.
Another useless thread.... It is what it is. Starting another thread isn't going to fix anything.
As far as I'm concerned, this has already been a fail for Google. It is their second time they've failed miserably with the selling of a Nexus device. They just can't seem to learn...

If you can let us know how many Google had for sale that would be nice, as I take it you have the exact stock numbers to back that statement up.
The Nexus 4 is a marketing win for Google and the Android brand. Whether we get to use or like the phone is besides the point. Reviews of the glass sealed phone have been written and published. Done. On to the next Nexus phone for Google.

Why would I need the exact stock numbers? I just stated that when you introduce very few devices into the channel, it's easy to sell out and create the impression of big sales.
Apple have been doing this for years.
Did it take Google by surprise? That a phone they've been pushing... sorry... leaking, for 2 months and got blanket press coverage - which was then sold at an abnormally low price - sold out quickly.
Man, that is such a surprise! And after the Nexus 7 as well!
The big surprise is that 10 days later they still haven't got any more stock and are about to enter the run up to Christmas, with, yes, you guessed it, no stock and no word on when they will have stock.
I recommended the Nexus 4 to three friends, one of whom dropped their iPhone 4 into water at the end of last month and was looking for a replacement. They won't wait for ever and that guy went out and bought an iPhone 4S yesterday.

I have my N4 and the failure began on the 13th when Google didn't ship on a first come basis.
The failure continued with Google's refusal to acknowledge customer's complaints and did not relay correct information to support.
I understand how a big launch works and I understand **** happens, but Google's ignoring of the issues and leaving support to fend for themselves by lying does nothing but harm the reputation of the company and hurts the consumer.
I know I will think twice about ordering from the Play store again, I didn't learn my lesson with the N7.
Love this phone !!!
Only ones that are calling it a fail are ones that didn't get one,and tell the truth ID prob be right there pissed off 2 if i didn't get mine , but as soon as they become available agn those people will be first ones right there buying one . Google didn't fail Google did it exactly like they wanted to , its Google they do what they want

I would be, because as I mentioned above, I recommended this phone to other people.
Almost normal people.
You know - the kind of people who don't sit next to their browser hitting the refresh button 20 times a minute.
It's quite normal to sell out of a new device at launch. It's less normal to then have no stock for 10 days and no information.
(Although I grant you, it's quite normal for Google to not give information).
Sold out. Good phone. Therefore not a failure imo.

Nexus 4 - Round 2 for international stores

It looks like lots of people who bought it in the US on the 27th have had their orders shipped. I would rather not go through that thread looking for updates when it's just people discussing when their package will be delivered. It's also been a few days since US store opened.
Let's dedicate this thread for the international play stores like Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, Spain, etc.
Here's some links from the original thread, thanks to tuffballa:

There is one thread I'm keeping an eye on, where a person is calling Google Play every day for Canada ETA. It's not much reliable info but might as well stoke the fire.
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/mobile/9qI_Lvj8ivU/RVBn2cb4whEJ
Germany may have it on Dec 6?
http://www.giga.de/smartphones/das-...nd-bilder/news/nexus-4-bald-wieder-verfugbar/
My 2 cents - I like the idea of a new thread. Perhaps we could have in the OP the latest news / rumors for the international stores (or even US if they have stopped allowing new orders) about when new orders may go up. I made a mention on G+ to the Google Canada peeps but got no response (not that I expected one!). My gut tells me next week at least one international store will get sales going again..
I'm waiting until January before I go with a different phone, but my 2010 Acer phone is repeatly begging me to put it out of it's misery..
I'd support for another thread so that I do not open the old round 2 thread for the information that I don't need. That said, I guess this will still be closed.
So what's peoples' opinion on whether the international stock will be same as US? I really can't see them opening up stores in Canada or EU and start with 4-5 backorder. That's essentially giving US a week head start on orders.
Don't close this thread. Seriously. I'm sick of seeing threads invaded by "OMG WHY ISN'T MY PHONE HERE YET I ORDERED IT 5 MINUTES AGO!!!!" in ALL threads. We need a place where we can get USEFUL information without having to sift through all the whiners that are pissed that they have an order gone through already.
I swear, when they open up purchasing for Canada, I'll buy one and I'll be patient as hell. Because it's massively irritating...
Koraboros, please keep the OP updated if you can.

Well that's the real question... if the US is looking at 4-5 weeks for their current orders, all of these phones come from the same manufacturing plant right? I'm beginning to think perhaps the agreement with LG is just not allowing sufficient stock to be built to cover the demand of the US, much less the rest of the planet.
That's why I'm saying I give them December - but I could quite possibly see them essentially blocking international sales for the next few months and only focusing on one region. Complete speculation here - don't take this as any sort of fact please.
With that said, I found this interesting: http://www.androidcentral.com/nexus-4-gets-high-demand-status-ebay
Are any international stores planning on carrying the Nexus 4 like T-Mobile in the US?

Nice article... just brings to light the misjudgment on Google's part to not have a reasonable limit per order in the first round...
As for international stores I think O2 in the UK will carry it? I'm hoping Best Buy or Future shop will carry it as well but I doubt it since it's not locked to a carrier.
I won't be patient, but I'll at least try not to moan
OP, it would be good to move the original "round 2" op inform to here...no need to include n4checker
I also think it might be helpful to indicate the country when one posts any rumor or speculation given the fact this is an international thread. Just a thought.

6-7 weeks to ship?!!!??!!

I had recieved a text explaining that the nexus 4 was finally available for purchase after being out of stock, this happened the day before yesterday. However, upon trying to order the device, it tells me that it will take 6-7 weeks to ship?!
this is garbage
I assume eventually that we will just be able to log in and order without them taking our money and holding it hostage for 2 months. This whole thing really left a bad taste in my mouth.
We are still not able to order the phone and it is ridiculous, 6-9 weeks

Well done. Now you've made your post, there's a better place for it.

Well they did say it was going back on stock noon on the 27th, and even if you ordered sometime later that day towards the night even, estimated shipping would have been 2-3 weeks. You're just a bit late. However the 8-9 might just be an overapproximation so I wish you luck.
EDIT: Oh, and also, I guess nothing Google does will ever be good for people. Making more phones than needed/ having unsold phones in the warehouse is the worst thing ever, while having just enough is good, and running out too soon is bad, but not as bad as having more phones than needed. From Google's or any company's standpoint, that is.
With the initial launch, they tried to meet demand (which they obviously didn't) and they made a lot of mistakes which everyone very strongly expressed. Mistakes such as the fact that there was no real preorder option, and that we never knew what time that the phones were going to be sold, and the fact that the entire stock sold out in one hour without anyone else being able to do anything afterwards, and the fact that we wouldn't even know when the second batch would be out.
When they brought out the second batch, they actually ended up listening to everything and taking into consideration (which is very unusual for most companies). They told us when it was coming out, the time exactly, the country, the phones didn't sell out in one hour as they came in with a bigger batch, and in a weird way, they implemented the pre-order system for people who missed out initially. And of course, now people aren't happy that there is the pre-order system and prefer that it just show "Not In Stock." Google's been somewhat remarkable through this. Yes, they messed up a lot, but they did listen and try their best to fix the situation. And all for a phone they're barely profiting off of. Coming from a Samsung phone and a Lenovo tablet, both companies have been treating their customers with the devices in the opposite manner and my respect for Google only grows (and that of their customers, slightly diminishes.)
Count yourself lucky. The rest of the world can't even place orders yet.
You snooze you lose.
Email Google Play Customer Support to get the MORE REALISTIC time period. The thing on that page is s#it. It will automatically increase as the number of people will pre-order.
Here's what i got from Play support -
Orders are shipped based on the estimate in your order confirmation email. Once an order has been processed you'll receive a second ship confirmation email with your tracking number. It may take 24 hours for the package tracking to return any information for your tracking number.
If you have not received a package tracking number after the time quoted in your order confirmation email, please let us know.
According to our records, your order should ship by the evening of December 19.
Neuxs 4 backorders: Please note that the above date is based on typical shipment processing and does not apply to Nexus 4 backorders. Nexus 4 backorders are being delivered based on the order in which they were received. If you receive a shipping confirmation email, then you will be able to track your delivery.

When I order on the 27th, 9 minute after they open for order. The shipping time was at 1-2 weeks. I got a shipping confirmation on the 30th, so you might received your early.
It's called a pre-order. If you don't want to wait then don't buy it?
or just cry moar

What was the shipping time in the order confirmation email ? 2-3 weeks ?
I cant get my head round why people are moaning. This is a $600 device going for half price. Of course demand is going to outstrip supply. I wanted mine NOW so I went and paid £150 more than Google Play's RRP! These phones are available, if you really want it, go out and pay the prevailing market rates and not moan and wait on Google subsidised ones.

When setting up the tablet I signed into my Samsung apps account and if I check for products registered to me, the tab s shows up there, but I haven't received any email re my perks.

I may be mistaken, but it's my understanding that you need to sign into the new Galaxy Apps Store that will be released tomorrow, 7/1 to receive the perks email. Maybe someone with more info can chime in here.

OK, thanks, it does mention some Galaxy apps business but I figured it was the regular Samsung apps store they were referring to. I'll wait till tomorrow then, was just wondering if anyone had gotten registered and gotten the perks email.
Thanks for taking the time to reply!

All the freebies that Samsung throws in, for purchasing the device. "Galaxy Gifts" such as the movie Gravity, 3 months of Marvel Comics , 50 Gig Dropbox to name a few. They're a bunch more.
well i just hope they dont take away the marvel ones for saudi :victory:

Not sure if people realize this but the dropbox addition comes from going into settings/accounts and logging into Dropbox. The movie gravity becomes available when you sign into Play - Movies $ TV. No idea about the comics subscription and certainly curious as to what the others will be.
Most of the perks are available now but logging into the app. I got the movie and the 50gb by doing that.
I think the email that gets sent once you log into the new Galaxy Apps provides instructions on how to receive the gifts. Most are obvious like those already listed in this thread. Others like the free subscription to Go-Go in-flight internet requires you to log in during a flight to enroll. Hopefully it will be clear once the new app is launched.
Yes you can get them now you dont have to wait till 7/1. When I sent the 16gb version back last Thursday (for the 32gb version) i had the move Gravity and all the rest of the perks

I finally messed around with my tablet today a little before work and downloaded most of the stuff that interest me. THE Marvel subscription, GQ, some apps like Box and hand of the other magazines that are available. The app was a widget on my desktop, I just opened it and it let me choose what I wanted. The only things I don't recall seeing is the WiFi subscription service, but I was in a rush so I may have overlooked it.
Something to watch. I just signed up for the marvel unlimited through the app, but it did not appear to apply the 3 month trial. I have an email out to marvel, we'll see what they say.
Did you use this app?

I've checked and I'm not seeing four of the perks which seem to be the ones they say you'll receive an email for. Gogo inflight Wifi, SiriusXM, Audible and Stitcher comedy programming are not showing up for me. I have the 32gb version from Bestbuy which for some reason isn't listed on the Samsung website when trying to register it, i'm not sure if this has anything to do with the perks since te other offers are there. I've contacted Samsung on Facebook but it doesn't seem to be moving very fast.
Update: I went through the "Ask Samsung" tab on their Facebook support page and received the email with the instructions and necessary codes for all four offers hours later. As previously mentioned by another poster the GoGo wifi can only be activated while in a flight.
I think a lot of the perks depend on the country your tablet is registered to. When I registered my Note Pro 12.2 (Canada) I didn't get all the advertised perks I.e. Playstore credit, etc.

Yes
So I had a live chat with them about my lack of perks. Their suggestion, remove Samsung accounts and sign back in. I did and got an email saying I already received the perks, so back to live chat I went. 45 minutes later, they said I'd be emailed in 2 business days with the perks. I was emailed this morning by Adam M, with ONLY the audible code. I've replied to his email and also went back on live chat and am awaiting the other codes, I travel a lot and especially need the gogo in flight Internet code! So I await a reply from him before the end of the day or I'll ditch live chat altogether and just call them, but I don't know why they'd only send audible and waste my time in having to run them down for the others...not a very efficient use for any of our time.

i'm curious as well on how the gogo promo will work. From reading the details it seems like all we need to do is get on a flight and login from the tab s and register from there. Nothing is clear though so who knows.
32gb best buy.. same as others. What a nightmare getting this stuff lol. Deleted account so many times no codes. Talk to live blah blah blah.
Got the same email about audible books yet nothing else. I call they tell me 1-3 days I would get the rest. No big deal

Did Google's Shenzhen factory steal my credit card no. from my 'Live Case' order?

I'm going to simply present a few facts and see if I am the only one reaching the same conclusion.
1. On 14 April 2016 I ordered the first of 2 "Live Cases" for the Nexus 6P, and the order was sent to Google's factory.

2. On 16 April 2016 I received an alert from my bank (which never happens) asking me to review suspicious transactions:
These were the transactions, all in the city of "Shenzhen", China, including a hotel stay costing me $1,892:
Plotting the locations on a map shows where the fraudster traveled between:
3. On 18 April 2016 I received a tracking update from Google revealing the order had shipped from "Shenzhen", China. In addition, the tracking website displayed a map of the pick-up location (presumably the Google factory). Note the proximity of the pick-up pushpin to the fraudulent purchases above:
Obviously setting up my new card everywhere has been hugely inconvenient, not to mention nearly being defrauded by some $2000.
I do not believe Google share the credit card info with the factory. But it is not impossible that there may be some vulnerability in the order system whereby a factory order processing worker may have been able to access the info. Or the info may have unintentionally been included on a docket, etc. Plenty of possibilities, including coincidence.
I have notified the Google Store team and await their response. I will update this thread if anything of substance comes back from them.

First response from Google which I've challenged:
I am really sorry about this, but we couldn't detect any unauthorized charges from our end. I would request you to get in touch with your bank immediately or the financial institution the card is associated with and check the status. It would be great if they could help you with a transaction ID for the specific charges and provide more information regarding the same.

Seems like you been scanned or getting your credit card info stolen.
This can be due to
1. Open WiFi
2. Bad applications installed.
3. Really bad luck?
4. Hijacked session?
Sorry to hear that too, we should wait and see if someone has the same issues.
Maybe the site was hijacked? Idk

One major question.
Why would Google send your credit card information to a manufacturer? That makes no sense. You pay Google, Google pays the manufacturer some of the money, you get your case made. The manufacturer doesn't get the whole $35, Google gets it, then pays a rate per order probably at the end of the month/quarter, never should the factory see your credit card number.

You did, with one sentence. I'm not sure why it would be on a docket slip, since the CC info would not be useful, that would be a major screw up, one that would cost a few people their jobs. Also it could be a vulnerability in the order processing, but same with any order you placed online, so it would not necessarily be from ordering at Google. It just seems highly unlikely that your card would be stolen by Google or leaked by Google, much more likely it was a coincidence.
I once had my credit card info stolen, was used to by pizza in Richmond VA which is on the other side of the US. I assumed an ATM skimmer or some other technique was used, for my ~$60 back and had to input my new info for s month or so when I paid bills. I didn't assume some company with a tie to Richmond stole it.
Also, almost everything you buy is manufactured in shenzen China.

Thank you for reporting the unauthorized charges on your credit card, and for providing the location where the charges were incurred. You are correct that Google does not share full payment info with merchants so this incident is unusual. We take this type of feedback very seriously and our team is investigating your case.

Final response from Google:
Thank you for your patience while we looked into this issue.
A few different teams at Google have independently investigated the incident, and have verified that there has been no information security leak of payments credentials to the manufacturer through the purchase of your Live Case. Though very odd that this happened in the same province as where the phone was manufactured, we are not able to find a link with Google.
Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
