[Q] Screen flashing when charging ( Nook HD+ CM 10.2.1 emmc) - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got problem with my Nook HD+ display, it now run CM 10.2.1 (emmc). When I charge with AC adapter, the screen always flashing until I plug the cable out ( Stock Rom 2.2.0 doesn't have this problem). Does anyone meet this problem? How can I fix this? Thanks a lot!

It appears your still able to use it kind of flashing. Probably a bug since bn rom is fine. What the bug is idk. Never seen it on 10.1, 10.2 nor 11.
You already know a fix...to use a different rom. Sometimes that's just how it goes.
You could also try a clean install of 10.2 if not already.

I found in this forum that it may be the hardware issue, but the stock FW doesn't have this problem, so I will try on CM11. Thanks!

Just flash the new CM zip over the top of the old, all apps will remain.

Do the latest cm10.1 roms i.e 11/5 and 12/5 work with your Hybrid method? Because I thought I read somewhere in your hybrid thread that they wouldn't work

[Q] streaming flash content cm10.1 4.2.2 issue

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Hello all thank you for you time. I'm running cm10.1 unofficial nightly build 05.22.13 on my touchpad with the latest adobe flash apk and Firefox app from Googleplay.
The issue that I'm having is my display would go to sleep as configure per my display setting while I'm streaming flash content at full screen. Not sure why this is happening and not sure if this is just my device. I didn't have this issue with cm9. Only notice this with cm10 and now 10.1. Theodd thing is that this issue is also happening with my nook color and nexus 7 with cm10.1
My current work around is setting display to time out 30 mins and touch the display every now and then.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again
I did a quick search and found this app for you. I haven't tried it, but its worth a try.

Thank you. I went back to cm9 for stability but will keep this app in the back pocket . I was just curious to know if I was the only one experiencing this flash problem or its the same for everyone else. If its just me I wonder wat I did wrong with the install

Flash has never worked well on 4.1+ ROMs on the Touchpad in my experience. Flash isn't supported on 4.1+ but on other devices its still smooth so its a Touchpad Android issue not a Flash issue.
If you want Flash stay with CM9. I went back to CM9 after being on CM10 a while because I wanted stable Flash and couldn't really think of any new CM10 features that I needed.

First and foremost thank you for your input. It is true that flash is no longer supported on 4.1 + but it can and should be stable once installed. One example I can provide is with my nexus seven. With stock rom and latest flash APk installed it runs Smoth no problem but when it is rooted and custom rom installed display issue occurs. There must be some config in the rom where display would remain awake when certain apps are running at full screen. Also its hard to see that its a touch pad issue because this is happening to other devices that I've installed custom 4.1+ rom. I'm currently back with cm9. For stability until cm 10.1 is more stable will switch.

Flash runs smooth on my Droid3 with CM10.1 even though the rom is far from stable. Also runs well on the Razr with stock 4.1.2 update. Its just on the Touchpad that 4.1+ have issues with flash in my experience.

[Q] updating from CM 10.1 to CM 10.2

ok guys I'm sort of a newbie to this stuff so i would really love it if you guys could help me out! I'm trying to update my CM 10.1 to CM 10.2 so that i can get 4.3 and i found a post about it being possible to do it on a nook, so i downloaded all the stuff i needed just like when i put 10.1 on it and everything seemed to go fine when i was downloading it but when i booted it up none of my gapps are working (and i got the 4.3 apps that i was supposed to get) and it still says that i am running on 4.2.2....
now I'm sure i have done something wrong and it's probably the easiest fix in the world but if there is anyone out there who can tell me how i need to go about doing this update i would be very appreciative thank you very much and i hope you all have a great day!

Are you trying to update CM10.1 that you installed on emmc? If so, you can't. The version of CM10.2 that is available is for SD installs, not emmc. Flashing it to emmc will not work.

CM10.1 to 10.2 upgrade for sdcard builds
After several tries that resulted in one issue or another, I successfully updated my sdcard install from CM10.1 to CM10.2. I think my unsuccessfuly attempts failed because of gapps. One of the links in th CM10.2 thread pointed to a GAPPS 4.3 "Core" zip file that ultimately worked for me. The other gapps 4.3 files usually resulted in the "two cLock app" error and I could never connect to Google service (Play Store and GMail, in particular). My wi-fi indicator on the status bar remained grey, never turning blue. All of my network-dependent apps worked (CNN, XDA, etc.) except for those that depend on Google.
Other issues that seem consistent:
1. Can't see internal storage (emmc); I can't find it anywhere (usual contents of /storage have been apparently moved anyway)
2. Weather Channel app had to be set up from scratch
3. News & Weather app/widget is gone
4. Background image seems to get reset occasionally (from a live wallpaper that I selected); not necessarily limited to CM10.2, but seems to be more prevalent now than with CM10.1
...
999. I'mnot certain if it is related to CM10.2, but the Engadget app has been pretty unstable since the upgrade.

CM just announced one update to the CM 10.1 branch of code. I tried posting this in the other CM 10.1 thread, but I cannot due to my newbiness. Anyway, does anybody know if 10.1.3 RC1 will get ported to the Nook HD Ovation? Can somebody ask everygreen the awesome guy who has been doing all this stuff? I really havent made the switch to 10.2 and probably wont for quite a while. I currently run 10.1 the last one from 8/13. I wonder of 10.1.3RC has anybody better. Oh well. I hope this makes sense.

I missed the boat on 10.1.3RC1, but RC2 and eventually 10.1.3 stable should be made for our devices too.
Where should we watch for updates about when this is available? Seems all of the chatter over in the dev forum is only about CM10.2.

Would installing this new 10.1 RC from the updated in CM be wise?
Still very new to this. Just got CM put on my Nook this weekend and would hate to have to start fresh again.
I would suggest installing any RC version. They are supposed to be pretty stable and have bug fixes that you'll want (not to say that they won't have bugs of their own).

I think he's asking about updating from the CM menu. I received a notification today that RC 2 was available, will I lose all my apps and data if I update from there?

Thanks for the help!
I updated it with the internal CM updated but it kept hanging on boot and restarting so I just went ahead and did a manual install.
My Nook runs much smoother now! Hopefully it won't keep rebooting and hanging on boot as much as before.

Nook HD+ suddenly not reacting, read inside!

Hey guys and lads
Today my nook arrived and I was happy to flash CM 10.1 on it.
Everything went well and it was running smooth'n fine!
But for some reason I made the decision to update it over the tablet itself... To some stable m1 update.
after that everything went down.
Wlan connection was horrible, everything seemed laggy and the display wasn't reacting in some cases.
I can still open stuff and the keys are working, but the display itself isn't reacting (cant power it off, lol)
I wiped everything and reflashed the rom, but still got these problems.
What happened? Do I need to trim it?
edit:
Managed to start the device in "safe mode", there everything worked smooth and the display reacts again!
Could reboot it now and suddenly everything works again.
Still im concerned if everything is okay now.
Please help me out here, thanks!
If you went from CM10.1to M1 (which is CM10.2), you need to update the gapps also. You need 20130813.

CM 10.2 is based on Android 4.3 while 10.1.3 is still Android 4.2.2. -- I would recommend doing a full wipe / factory reset between CM installations with (rather) big version number changes like that. Of course this only applies if you didn't already do a factory reset in the first place.
You should also consider that an M1 Snapshot is not really a stable release. It's more stable than a nightly, but not as stable as a RC release or a a real stable release. Why the M1 shows up as an update on my Nook is a question that I've asked myself before, too. Especially when I consider that I've set up the update service to only show stable releases.

Ok thank you sir
Yes it's akward that it shows nightly builds instead of the stable version
Well today (after 3 days or so) my device was lagging again, atleast the display wasn't reacting.
Had to reboot to safe mode and then reboot again. Now it works like a charm, but this is pretty strange.
Any solutions for me? I still dont get when i need to trim or what the risk is, since I hot the "bad" eMMc.

Is my problem a sign to do a trim?
