[Q] How to check if HTC One has dual HDR mic or not? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. guys! I am thinking of buying a new (or even used) HTC One, especially for the dual HDR mic's loud environment recording capabilities. I have heard about the HTC - Nokia mic thing and I want to make sure that what I buy does have those awesome mic's. Is there a way to check that before I actually go to a concert/club?

Speaker quality any good??

Hi, those who owns the htc touch diamond 2 can you please advise what the speaker is like?.....more importantly is it loud?.....compared to the original diamond and touch pro?.....i dont care about sound quality.....i'm more interested in the loudness....because my old diamond have very soft speakers....the speakers on that was terrible....I miss most incoming calls.....thanks in advance.
Do you mean the loudness for ringtones or the speakephone? Bothe are pretty loud and clear, better than most phones I have had...
Good to hear this. On my old HTC Kaiser the speakers are awful.
I dont have one but Im guessing the touch pro 2's speaker is gonna be amaizing so if its like that its gonna be amazing, but I dont think it will have dual speakers or a dual mic so it might not be that good but I dont know about tha for sure cause I dont have one just saying the touch pro 2 is supposed to have amazing speakers I thinkl, persoonally I will go for that phone cause of the bigger screen and keybaord and dual mic and speakers but I understand how some would prefer the diamond cause its thinner and has a better camera.

[Q] nokia microphones and microsoft acquisition

Now that micro$oft is acquiring nokia does this mean the haac microphone technology that stmicroelectronics sold to htc early this year will never make it into future non-nokia devices? I know that agreement between nokia and stmicro was until the middle of 2014 but with ms taking over the nokia smartphone division in this same year I doubt they would want to license out anything to potential competitors. I guess the htc ones with these mics are about to become even more valuable. My real question is do existing htc ones still have the dual membrane microphones? Htc did remove this feature from the official specs page but hdr video recording is still listed on the back of every htc one box from what I have seen so I am assuming they still have stock. And if they still have stock will there be enough for when the one max comes out later this year? I'm a noob not only to this forum but to a lot of cell phone tech and tech terminology so if anyone had any opinions or answers I would appreciate the input. Thanks.

The mics were supposed to be removed from all future HTC One's as the tech was sold to HTC without proper licencing (they didnt go through Nokia) so i doubt the Max was ever supposed to use it. As for HDR recording I dont see what that has to do with the mic technology. HDR is typically a term used for lighting.

I recently read a thread here in the htc one forum that the way to know if you have the nokia microphone in your one was if it said hdr video on the back of the box. I guess that person who said that was mistaken.
HDR means high dynamic range... It commonly refers to an audio or video sensor's sensitivity to high and low inputs, whether sound or luminance.
I have a launch day One, and get impressive high spl audio recordings on video clips. I had an old thread around somewhere trying to figure out if the mics required special drivers, since audio only recording apps didn't sound as good as video from the HTC camera app...

Thanks for that clarification. I am really only familiar with HDR from gaming which refers to lighting processing.

It's actually the same thing. Audio and video are branches of signal processing, with techniques used in both cases. 1D vs. 2D signal processing.
None of the HTC One boxes I have seen mention anything about the microphone on them.
Closed, next time please read the rules before posting.

[Q] FM recording on HTC Butterfly S?

Has anybody attempted to record live broadcast on this device either using Spirit UL or other 3rd party dedicated method (like stereomix)?
Sony Xperia models can use Recforge app, Samsung have it naturally integrated. I never had HTC before so I can't really compare with other models. Am interested in this phone but can't buy before completely being sure it can record live OTA FM in high enough quality and most important in Stereo!
Would appreciate any answer.

HDR Mic (Nokia?)

What ever happened to the microphone issue on this phone? Some time ago, Nokia won an injunction against HTC, and they supposedly were to stop using the microphone in their phone - once the stock HTC had in their warehouse depleted. Is that still the case? Do newer HTC Ones not have the better quality microphones? How is the recording capability in concerts/loud audio environments on the newer HTC Ones?
Do we know if the HTC M8 is going to have a good microphone for recording loud audio?
Does anybody have any idea?

[Q] HTC One Mini 2 Dual Membrane Mic / HDR Mic?

I have the HTC One M8 and as we all know the phone recording amazingly in a loud concert.
