Skins that cover the sides of the phone? - G2 Accessories

I love and want to use something like Zagg or Best Skins Ever, but I haven't been able to find anything that also covers the sides of the phone. I'd like scratch protection on the sides too! Anyone have any suggestions or know of anything?

Just got an Xgear skin. The black leather is very slick, almost no grip. Thankfully, it's matte and doesn't pick up grease or fingerprints (my only goals). I guess it protects the sides. It covers the sides completely.
Don't get a Slickwrap. The renders show side coverage, but I got one and the sides are completely uncovered.
I have a quicksand case and don't have to use it anymore. I don't need any protection. I just hate the hyperglaze plastic.

Thanks for the suggestion! One question, how has it held up so far with the corners staying down? Also, does it have any screen protection to it?

Corners don't go down unless you use a blowdryer. After that, everything is "skin-tight." Had it on for a few days more and I'm not at all concerned about the edges coming loose and catching something. Just make sure you use a blowdryer (hair dryer) focused on the corners, then work your way around the edges, pressing the rein down and holding it down after you get it hot.
At $15 it didn't come with a screen protector. You could just get a screen protector for a buck or two. I don't use screen protectors, never have. Since the original Gorilla Glass came out, screen protectors seem unnecessary. If you're really afraid of scratching your screen, go ahead. You're more likely to drop and break it, and a screen protector isn't going to help you there.
The Xgear skin comes with panels for the front, covering the top and bottom bezel. The sensors and camera are not obscured.
Check YouTube for a better idea of the fit.

I also use gear. I have the carbon fiber one. Like hung0702 said, use a bellwether. I've never had the edges peel up but I use an aluminum bumper now. It offers protection and keeps the phone slim.

[REVIEW] SGP Ultra Fine Screen Protectors

I've been using my Spigen SGP Ultra Fine MATTE screen protector for a few weeks now and I finally want to upload my thoughts and some pictures.
Spigen produces some of the best quality screen protectors that I have ever tried. I first owned one the Asus Transformer TF101 and couldn't wait until they made them available for the Nexus 7. Since I owned one of these in the past, it was a no brainer for me but they work so awesome that I want to share with you.
Here is a blurb from the website:
Code:
Ultra Fine film is a high quality film with a slightly textured film with
30% increased light transmittance. The Ultra Fine is effective in preventing
glare, smudges and fingerprints
High grade anti-glare hard coated film
Premium matte surface
Good surface hardness : 3H
No rainbow effect

What this doesn't tell you is that these suckers are thicker then normal. They aren't flimsy like other ebay or amazon cheapo protectors. This makes them easy to get on without any hassles. Because they are thicker and less flimsy, pushing air bubbles out is a breeze. Especially because their little rubber air bubble remover tool is amazing and helps a lot. I chose the ULTRA FINE because of the MATTE fingerprint resistant properties that I loved from my Asus Transformer.
I've uploaded some pictures of the process starting from the unboxing, POST-installation, and a few weeks later. I wanted to give it a few weeks because this is why this screen protector is so awesome.
Code:
I haven't cleaned my screen in over several weeks and it still looks perfect!
Truely amazing!
The Package arrives in a very nice, well crafted cardboard packaging (as pictured). The kit comes very well stocked with your not-so-typical accessories. Most "other" kits come in a cheap clear plastic bag, with a cheap card board cutout card and sometimes with a lent-free cleaning cloth. The SGP kit comes with a real nice cleaning cloth, a super awesome rubber Air bubble removal tool, and a 4-pack of dust removal stickers. There was also a nice marketing piece in there to show off some of their other products.
The Rubber Air bubble removal tool really surprised me. I thought, "No way will this be better then a credit card". Well I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The tool is pretty tough, like a big pencil eraser that you could simply erase the air bubbles away.
The cleaning cloth feels really good too is bigger then most models you get from the other guys. This one is thicker and softer.
The screen protector itself is thicker then most and noticeable right out of the pack. There is only 1 "protection" piece that you remove during installation. Some protectors have both sides covered. In this case, the protected side is the side that has the "glue" on it. So only tamper with this when you are ready to begin.
Here are some very important notes that will make this extremely satisfying on the first go:
1. DON'T USE WATER!
- On some of the cheaper protectors, you can apply a mist of water to ease up the positioning of the protector once applied. This is NOT the case with these. These have a thin film of "glue" that actually will start to break down if wet. So clean the screen very good.
2. USE PROPER LIGHTING!
- I suggest being close to a very bright window so you can easily spot any dust particles.
3. TAKE YOUR TIME!
- Don't rush
4. ONLY PEEL BACK ENOUGH TO GET YOU GOING!
- Don't rip off the protective sheet completely until the toward end. Just peel back enough to start.
5. START FROM THE TOP!
- Align the top/camera hole first. I found this easier to actually FOLD the protective sheet back and hold it out of your way. Make SURE the top is ALIGNED properly. You don't want any overhangs on the bottom.
6. WORK OUT BUBBLES AS YOU GO. DON'T WAIT UNTIL LATER!
- Working out the bubbles as you go allows you to make sure there are no dust particles hidden in one of those air pockets. If you work out the pockets as you go, half of the screen protector would still have the protective layer on it. You can easily raise up that section of the protector from the glass and use one of the included stickers to nab the dust particle before you move on.
7. REPEAT UNTIL YOU ARE DONE!
- Marvel at the glory!
Here are reasons for why I love the MATTE Ultra Fine!
1. It's MATTE = No Glare
2. Never have to wipe off finger prints!
3. Never gets grimy (sticky) after playing games for a few hours
4. Looks superb/quality
The Ultra Fine is currently $24 but worth the extra cost for the benefits. Highly recommended!

Bonus!
The Reason why I switched to a Anti-Fingerprint Matte?!
I am a IT Tech. I was working on a military base for 2 weeks and using my Transformer religiously. Tablets back then were semi-new (iPad 2 had just come out). I was talking to one of the girls who seemed interested in my tab and she briefly mentioned how nasty they look from all the fingerprints. I hadn't noticed before but after a long day, they really piled up and with the screen off, they glared out. I was trying to persuade her how awesome it was, yet she didn't even want to touch it... and that's not very sexy at all!
So I researched and found SGP Ultra Fine and purchased a protector for my Transformer TF101. Never looked back. Having your screen look amazing all day, every day without constantly cleaning it or wiping it down is a curse lifted. Long live SGP so they can protect all of my screens in the future!
Great review man!! I've used SGP before for my Inspire 4g and the protection to me is awesome. Quick question I've never used the anti glare/anti fingerprinte matte ones, could you comment how it feels? I know it won't be glass like but I kinda don't like the ones that feel too grainy if you know what i mean. thanks
Really good review! I have a eBay Matte screen protector and it's actually not bad at all. I love how the screen looks now as it's matte and anti-glare, finger prints are barely an issue as you say.
I actually like the way the screen feels with the matte. It is still very smooth; it doesn't feel grainy. To me, it just feels better, even with a stylus. Perhaps I'm just used to it from my Transformer. The AntiGlare and FingerPrint Resistance is a solid win to me (on top of protecting the screen).
Most LCD/TV's have a MATTE screen. Rubbing on some LCD's around the office, it is similar texture/feel... but the SGP is slightly smoother.
Love SGP.
It's a better "swipe" experience than clean glass, IMO. Viewing outside, GPS use, etc... and the Matte really shows it's worth. Plus no prints
RF
P.S. Steam up the bathroom and get some surgical gloves.
How is it with the rainbow issue matte screen protectors tend to have? I bought a cheap one off Amazon and it was terrible. I don't want to make the same mistake before ordering this

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I don't see any rainbow effect.

is the matte screen protector grainy? I remember getting some matte anti-fingerprint screen protectors for my G2 back in the day, and it made screen look hideous and grainy.

Ballistic Aspira case [AT&T]

Recently purchased a Ballistic Aspira case in black. Neon green and pink are available as well.
NOTE: This is for the AT&T version only. I'm pretty sure that the Verizon model isn't going to work.
I nearly bought the Incipio Dual Pro, but I noticed that while the Verizon one covers the buttons, the AT&T version doesn't. What won me over to buy the Aspira case was that the AT&T version protects the buttons and makes them easier to press.
Pros: protects edges well, not too much bulk, covers bezel, covers rear buttons, protects screen with raised edges (sits flush on a surface if placed facedown), doesn't cover microphones or IR blaster or speakers
Cons: makes the phone almost unpocketable (it can fit in the pocket, just not well enough to do it often), TPU corners and lip might attract dust, black color is fingerprint magnet , the back doesn't sit flush on a surface because of raised buttons, doesn't cover bottom ports,
So far, I am loving the case, except for the fingerprints. You might want to go with the green or pink.
Thanks for the pictures!
What kind of screen protector do you use and does the case lift it?

I'm using the Obliq Pure Oleophobic, and the screen protector itself is meh.
As I was installing the screen protector, I noticed how much it doesn't cover the screen and I was concerned that it would peel off by itself over time. But after putting on the Aspira case, I feel better because the case overlaps just enough with the right and left edges of the screen protector. But because of that, you want to be a little careful when putting on the case because you will have to raise the lips so that they go over the screen protector, not under.
I have the neon green one. Its very nice. Only con for me is it covers the led around the buttons.

Spigen Thin Fit for Note 5

Hi All,
Received my Note 5 today along with the Spigen Thin Fit case. It's $14.99 on their website but $10.99 on their eBay store and you get a free 3-pack of Crystal screen protectors.
I used this case with the iPhone 6+ and wanted to point out a few similarities and few differences. Obviously this kind of case is designed to provide minimal protection. If anything, it's more to just protect the back from scratches. It's a soft-feel matte finish that's cool to the touch and comfortable to hold. Unlike the iPhone version of this case (that protected the sides and left the top / bottom completely exposed) this has the top and bottom covered with cutouts for ports, pen, etc.
The case is thick enough that it protects the camera bulge from touching a surface and if you lay it face down, there's just barely enough clearance so the screen doesn't touch. If you were to get a glass screen protector, me thinks it would touch the screen. But I'm not a fan of laying my phone face down. There are some curiously placed cutouts at the four corners of the phone. I'm assuming it's so the case can flex a little and let the phone slip inside. I will point out that it makes the S-Pen pretty difficult to get out. There's enough room to click so it pops out, but still difficult unless you have long fingernails. Worth mentioning.
If anyone wants pictures, let me know. Don't work for Spigen just like their products and thought I'd share.
thanks. good info about the sPen. that would bother me.
Got mine too, this case is a fingerprint/smudge/oil magnet. However the soft touch feels nice and grippy.

What type of adhesives are use on PET, TPU, and Glass screen protectors?

I'm wondering what type of adhesives are used to adhere screen protectors to the cell phone display. Maybe we can use some of strong, yet removable adhesives to help stick the screen protectors to the curved edges of the Galaxy S7 Edge. Then we can use whatever case we want and not worry about peeling edges.
Anyway, my question is about the types of adhesives used for this application.
Thanks!

There are a few used like silicone and double sided tape. Then you have wet and dry installed screen protectors which I'm not sure what adheres them. You don't want something too strong that would stick because they do get worn and need to be removed

So could I use some regular clear silicone, like from Home Depot, to stick down the edges of a screen protector on the curved sides of the S7 Edge? How optically clear would that be? Would it be easy to remove later?

I wouldn't but it's your phone. Don't know about regular silicone but what kind of screen protector are you trying to stick down that won't stay?! If your having trouble with screen protectors and cases, you can get a case friendly protector. Or if your looking for glass check out the thread about them. I'm running amazingthing and commuter case and it fits fine with no liftingood at all. I like cases but don't change them out often enough. I'd really just prefer a spring holster as that's what I used with my previous non samsung phones..
i have try the tpu protector, current techmology is very difficult to install on phone
The Edge screen with how most of the cases work today has caused me issues with almost every one I have tried. It always ends up getting peeled up at the top and the bottom and often the corners as well. I am considering trying to trim my skinomi screen protector to make it not get in the way of the case.
Why can't there be a tacky optically clear adhesive that we can use on the edges of screen protectors to make them stay down? The glass screen protectors have some sort of silicone adhesive on the edges, why not have that on PET or TPU protectors as well?

tech21 or caseology in conjunction with ultimateshield

As the title, about to get an s7 edge and after a lot of reading have settled on ultimateshield screen protector. (avoiding glass tgsp) and am vacilating between two perhaps three cases.
Tech21 evo
Caseology envoy or parallax
Spigen rugged.
All of them review well. The tech 21 seems to have more of a lip top and bottom for the screen front, the caseology parallax seems a bit grippier, the spigen is quite thin.
Is anyone using them with an ultimateshield skin that can chime in with comparability with the protector not lifting or even venture an opinion on which of three is better while remaining relatively thin and unobtrusive.
lots of research the last day or two to answer my own question. pulled the trigger on the Tech 21 Evo frame.
reasons.
Caseology, looks great but there just isn't any lip top and bottom to help protect the screen if it lands flat. so eliminated from consideration.
comparing between the spigen and the tech 21, both have a lip but the tech 21 swung it with bigger drop protection and bigger bumpers on the ends.
more expensive, but I've decided not to cheap out on such an expensive phone. If the protector lifts then I'll deploy a sharp scalpel and shave the edge of the case to sort that issue out.
Hi mate, do you have any pictures of your phone with the screen protector and the Tech21 case? I'm having some issues with my VRS Design case.
Thanks!
Not got a picture but it does pinch the screen protector top left corner on my screen. thing is, with no glass screen protector really playing nicely with cases, I'd rather have something on there than nothing just to give that extra bit of protection for the screen.
I'm getting the skinomi case friendly screen protector in the near future. but in the meantime, leaving the ultimate shield on.
one other thing about the ultimate shield. I went for the front and back skins. getting the sides on is a pig because of the compound curves on the corner, but a patience and it's on really really well.
give it time to dry though. but if I was to put it on again, I'd snip off the sides and just keep the corners. the reason is, the thickness of the side skin is just enough that it makes the button response on the side not quite as crisp as it is without the skin on.
