I've worked for awhile on the DBooster to be enabled on the other variants who've disabled this feature from Samsung by the carriers.

I'm running an s5 rom on my AT&T Note 3 and I can enable download booster and it starts to use it but then I get a toast notification saying that the server doesn't support it. I added your services.jar but it still stops. Any ideas?

Basically, use logcat in play store or use adb through cmd lines on computer by following the tutorial (best method).

Depends on which you decide to do. If you do adb method, its running in background of phone constant. Just follow as instructions say and itll work perfectly. For play store one, start service then do all process then go stop and save logcat file.

Is this what you were looking for?

Dude.... That's EXACTLY what I'm doing right now... thank you.

Just to let you guys know, I was actually able to successfully overwrite my SecSettings.apk and my services.jar without screwing my phone up at all. I think maybe if we can tweak the services.jar file it might start working. It's very obviously locked out in that classes.dex file (look for the smartbonding files)

I tried copying the entire smartbonding folder within classes.dex, unpackaged from services.jar from the sprint thread. There is obviously more to it, however. My phone does boot (with original but modified services.jar), sprint SecSettings.apk, and the odex files provided. But still no download booster. Anyone have any other ideas? I'm not exactly sure where to look at this point.

I don't have this phone yet but I was thinking that you can probably edit the build . prop to that of the international s5 to get more features. Just edit the phone name for ex tolteatt to that of the init s5 tolte look in the att note2 Dn3 Rom for examples on which edits to make.

Mobile Hotspot modded to skip provisioning check (VZW)

Hi all. I have obtained a modded version of the Mobile Hotspot provisioning for Verizon. This should let you use hotspot without paying VZW for the feature that is free to any non-VZW rom users..
TO CLEAR UP ANY CONFUSION: I am NOT the original developer of this mod. I was directly contacted by the modder who wished to remain anonymous due to the potentially grey legal area of a mod such as this.
Suffice to say that I am not stealing credit, and that I am posting it specifically to act as a shield to the original dev, as per their request. If I need to give a name to avoid flak, then I'll just remove the post rather than break my promise.
UPDATE: The mods are OK with this posrt for now, unless anything happens. So for now it's staying up.
Anywho. Download the file, backup and remove HotspotProvision.apk and HotspotProvision.odex from /system/app/ And then drag in this copy of the apk. Put it's permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot.
You should now be able to set up your mobile hotspot.
I am posting this from my tethered computer
HotspotProvision.apk (98 KB)
Note that I DID NOT CREATE THIS.
If this for some reason is not allowed on here, please let me know and/or delete the post.
Works like a charm, thanks.

I used root explorer. Renamed files to hotspotprovision.old and hotspotprovisiono.old. Copied in the the apk file, set permissions. About to go on a road trip and this was much needed.
Hooray!
Followed OP directions to a T

did you change the permissions?

Im not sure why this wouldn't work for you.

highly doubted. Worst case scenario is it wont work and you get a charge for the tethering fee. But that isn't the case. If you're worried, wait for AOSP of some flavor with built in tethering

Here's the Mobile Hotspot apk and odex, from the stock rom posted by scrosler. Unzip this, then copy them both to /system/app, and reboot. You might need to set permissions? notsure
Nice....Thank you for posting this. OP post instructions were perfect. The one thing I am noticing about all these mods is that the OP are telling people to delete these original files, when all you have to do is rename them if you don't want to back them up or are nervous about deleting them. Again, thank you!!

Just curious where you found this? Giving credit is always the polite thing to do. I found a guide from cstayton to modify it. I will be including the fixed apk in the next version of XDK if cstayton allows it.
Also thank you for sharing this.

Just to make sure, this modded file will allow for unlimited data tether on the S5?
My wife just upgraded her S3 to the S5 and got spoiled between being grandfathered in the $30 unlimited data plan and running CM11 with the ability to tether her tablet.

OK: feeling as stupid as always:
Using ES file explorer (yes have the extreme rom finally running good, and verified I have root, safesurf, su, and checkroot).
I don't see a systemroot folder.
I did turn root explorer on in the es file explorer, and show hidden files.
Even went and installed ROOT browser app from g-play.
even gave it root.
AM I CRAZY? I dont see a systemroot/ directory.
and yes, I know that / is root, and stuff might (in *nix) be in the /bin, or local, or whatever directories, and I tried all of them.
I have
/system/app
NO /system/apps directory !!!
/sys/firmware (empty)
/root (empty)
/sys/kernel
I'm on a SM-G900A (AT&T) with the Extreme debloat v2.3 RC naked touchwiz build
with 4.4.2
please tell me I'm not going crazy, or forgetting 30 years of UNIX administration!
When I try to install it comes back as app not installed. An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed.
I had previously tried using the exposed apk but it did not work for me. Any ideas?

[MOD][6/7/15][VZW-E] - Tether hack - OC3 / OE2 build

This allows those on the old plan to still utilize tether for free.
For custom TW or stock TW roms.
Flash with latest flash fire.
Make sure you are rooted with PinPong Root 6 or higher.
Also make sure you pick the right one. The last 3 digits of the zip file are the firmware version. Flashing wrong one will boot loop you.
Oh and hit thanks!

It modifies the carrier check for Tether provisioning. If you have tether on your plan then you dont need it. If you dont have Tether then this will get you tether.
I dont know what carrier you have so flashing it, at a minimum will NOT hurt ANYTHING (that I know of).
So to see if you need it, just turn on Tether, if it works, then you dont need patch. If it doesnt work, then use patch.
Hope that helps.
Hit thanks!

Another question is SD card needed for this? I don't see them saying anything about it in this thread hopefully.. the device won't be mine so I wanna keep it as stock and usable as possible but root will come in handy to remove bloat

Yes. Use the ap slot to downgrade. You do not need sd to do it. After you are rooted read the top of the op about how to get Flashfire. You'll also need busy box i think.

No problem. It's barley 9:30 here in Texas. When you get ready to go up to 5.0 using the method in that thread make sure to set your screen timeout to 10 min. After flashing 5.0 with flashfire it took about 10-15 min for mine to boot back up.

I would stay away from xposed for now like you said. It's not fully compatible. I don't use any apps to make it faster. I just use titanium backup to remove bloat. Stock Firmware for SM-935A (AT&T) ***UPDATED 7-8-2016***

For those of you wanting the recovery file for AT&T either because your phone has stopped working while rooting or just to keep yourself covered, here you go. Credit to @br3w3r as he spent a lot of time last night helping me get this done when my phone stopped working.
YOU MUST USE THE ODIN FILE LINKED HERE. ANY OTHER WILL NOT WORK.
Trying to use any other will result in a model mismatch failure.
Download the June firmware here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242688242
Necessary version of Odin - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242688248
Credit to @Venom0642 for the updated links!
Standard process. Open Odin, put your phone in download mode, select the firmware as AP, hit start and let Odin do it’s thing. Saved my bacon when I got stuck with an issue last night.
very much appreciated, i couldnt update due to being on a different carrier then at&t. Im still on the original firmware when the phone came out.

Oh, gotcha! Yeah that'll do it, lol
I'm interested also if Samsung pay will work after a restore, but since my bank still isn't part of it and I have root now, I'm not interested enough to try it lol.

Yeah, my bank isn't fond of these types of payment methods either. And honestly, pulling out my phone is no easier than pulling out my wallet. And my wallet won't shatter if I drop it fumbling around. Either way, same amount of steps. It's a cool novelty but that's about it (to me personally). But if anyone does test it, I'll definitely update the post to say definitively one way or the other for those who love Samsung Pay.
is it works?? i have a 930A with a febrary firmware, can i update to he june firmware with this?

I would wait for someone to post one specific to the 930A. This is for the 935A and as far as I know they're not interchangeable. So I would wait for a post on the 930A (which I'll do if I find firmware for one and someone verifies it works), or wait for someone to verify this worked on theirs.

Please do upload the newest for the 930A if you find someone able to help you obtain it.
Like the other person, I am on a different carrier and still on the release firmware due to AT&T not sending the OTA out unless you have an AT&T SIM.
Can confirm that Samsung Pay works.

Is this with a rooted phone? which version? What update are you on? How did you get it to work? Have you tested Samsung Pay at a store? Thanks

I think he means after flashing back to this firmware. I have seen other users posting that it seems to result in Samsung Pay working but haven't seen anyone claiming to have actually used it. I'll update the OP once someone states they got it to function at a store after flashing back to stock.
So far, having root for certain disables it unless @sy7hf7tgtgrf found a method that no one else has yet.

Haven't tested at a store yet but will try to soon. I am on the stock firmware you uploaded so no root here.
I've noticed that somethings aren't fully working correctly though.
A lot of AT&T's modifications seem to be missing.
For one I can't really setup my Visual Voicemail now, and some sections in device settings are a bit different.
Pretty sure all is fine though.

It actually had the opposite effect for me funnily enough on VVM. I never was able to get it working after buying the phone and it was a pleasant surprise to find it working on this firmware. It had always given me an error about contacting AT&T because it seemed my plan didn't support it (though it did). Never followed up though as I very rarely use the phone for calls. Also was happy to see a toggle for LTE was added instead of having to dig in the settings to turn it on or off! All the stock AT&T apps seem to be there for me, though I'm not sure on the modifications. It's noticeably faster in Geekbench than it was the day I bought it, which leads me to believe maybe this is indeed stock, but before AT&T messed with it much. I hope you can get VVM working. But do keep us posted on the results of Samsung Pay in store!
MUST use the files linked. Saved my A$$ so listen to him...hahaha!
BTW, I successfully installed G935U roms on G935A.
It is so much cleaner with no ATT bloatware and much fewer samsung bloatwares.
I used this odin

Interesting. You had no trouble with it? What's the experience like?
