[Q] Which Kernel for which Custom Rom ? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Previously I owned a rooted Xperia arc. At that time, almost all custom roms used to mention supporting kernels. But here in Z1 development, I found that Custom Roms don't mention whether they run on stock kernel or DEV Kernel.
I want to know it because if custom roms are running on stock, then I skip Unlocking the boot-loader. If they running on DEV kernels, how ll I know which kernel for which rom ??

[Q] Kernels and flashing custom ROM

I'm new to this Galaxy Note device and a bit confused about some requirements i read about flashing roms.
Several makes mention about that it works only for a specific kernel. How do I find out which kernel I have?
The phone currently is on paranoandroid 4.2.2 custom rom. Since it's a bit lagging, i want to flash it to a new better rom.
I'm unsure if I can simply download any custom rom and flash it or should I flash a specific kernel prior?
Also if you have any recommended rom with stock s-pen functionality would be great.
Thanks.
you can download any rom of you choice and flash as its on a good kernel. for Spen you will need to stick with TW custom roms or stock roms

Recommendation? Daily driver ROM

Hi Z3C fans,
got this great phone some days ago. I successfully rooted it with this howto. After root i flashed this Debloated ROM .
I dont like the Sony Themed Stock rom. What is the best daily driver ROM? CM 11 is not avaible for z3c, right? Or should i just wait some time?
PS:
Do i need to unlock the bootloader, to flash CM12? Haven't figured out...

Don't post questions in General section, there is a Q&A section for a reason.
If you don't like the Sony Themed Stock Rom, I guess based on the looks, why don't you try different themes? There are so many things that you can change.
For CM you need to unlock your BL because it uses another kernel.

Question about roms and kernels

Since there's a Miui 8 rom that uses the stock kernel, which makes it not require a unlocked bootloader, couldn't the stock kernel be used in a CrDroid/Slimroms/Cyanogen/Lineage/AOSP rom?

Unlocking for custom roms and custom kernels worth?

Hey Guys, I've owned various devices and always unlocked and installed custom roms on them, but this device doesn't have too much custom roms, soo actually I don't have unlocked yet, who already unlocked is it worth it? the roms available(custom and treble roms), and custom kernels have better performance over stock? And if I wanted to return to stock I gonna have some kind of trouble or not?

I have the same touch.
FWIW, people on Telegram channels advised me to do precisely that: install a custom ROM then replace the kernel with the stock one (boot+dtbo)... but I never tried it for lack of time.
