Car holder for M8? - One (M8) Accessories

Hello!
So I am searching for the perfect car holder for dashboard for the HTC M8.
The official one is very expensive and of course it will be limited for M8 only (no future phone)
So I have found 3 interesting models online all universal and one handed usable:
Anyone tried one of these?

I bought this originally for my nexus 5 last year and will continue to use it with my m8. Works great very low profile so it's non-obtrusive.

I'm about to try this one: http://www.amazon.com/Clingo-Univer...ie=UTF8&qid=1399708629&sr=8-5&keywords=Clingo
Just waiting for delivery.
Tip: The Brodit passive Car Mount for SGS3 fits also the M8.

Anyone have any other good car mounts they've used with the M8, preferably with a case? That doesn't obstruct the cameras?
The Clingo has poor reviews, they all say after a couple months the green sticky stuff comes off on everything
I've tried 2 previous versions of "EXOMounts" and both had horrible suction, couldn't hold my EVO 4G lte caseless. Weights far less than the M8.
The OSOMount isn't even released yet, not willing to be another guinea pig.
The KitAnywhere looks sketchy at best, its holding an iPhone and doesnt appear it has much more give.
The Arkon looks ok, and is slim, but will it hold the weight of the M8, and not let it go when driving over bumpy surfaces? Will be driving a large box truck soon and need to make sure it can take a shakin and not drop my precious
The Arkon has really good reviews, just would like a hands on opinion from someone with a M8.
Thanks in advance!

I just ordered a Mountek. I had been considering getting one of these for quite a while. I really like being able to attach it inside of your cd slot. Just a note though... they have two versions, a clamp down version and a magnetic one. My first thought was to get the magnetic one since our phone is metal, duh =P. But aluminum is not magnetic, and since I prefer a clear case for my phone, the metal plate would look pretty horrible inside of it. So, if you are using a case that is not clear, I would suggest getting the magnetic one, otherwise get the clamp version. There are plenty of other types of mounts though. But for my particular car, a dash or window mount would be up a bit too high for my taste.
If interested, I can post some pics of the mountek with the M8 once it gets here.

I'm using the 'classic' Mountek nGroove Grip, and it's perfect. You have to remove the bottom legs to get access to the headphones jack and the microUSB port, but the grip is strong enough to hold the phone even without it.
What I like about it is that it keeps the phone close to me and facing directly at me (as opposed to farther under the windshield where you have to lean down to use it or stretch) - and also it doesn't obstruct your view - it's perfect, really.
If you don't wanna give up your CD slot it also fits into just creases in your dashboard.
Highly recommended!

I'm definitely interested in seeing pictures of the Mountek mount and hear about opinions, if the M8 can be mounted in landscape mode and if it keeps the phone stable while driving. Appreciate it!

I have actually this holder http://www.maisondugsm.com/a/produit/produit/1852246/support_auto_avec_ventouse_pama_windscreen_couleur_noir_pour_htc_one_m8.html but one of the side doesn't have rubber or soft plastic so it will scratch my M8 with time so it need both hand to put the phone and pull it without scratching it.
About the Exomount suction, I am planning to stick it to my actual disk pad which has double sided 3M sticky paste to stuck on my dashboard,it's the red thingy on the picture.
Though I wonder if its worth 45$ with delivery charges...
Edit: I have found a tailored made holder for the M8 though I wonder if it won't scratch the phone borders as it doesn't look rubberized where it ''clips'' and it will definitely need the disk pad too for the dashboard mount.

I use both the Tetrax Ego and Fix in my car - Ego for summer when I want the phone mounted over an air vent to keep the battery cool (LONG drive from the South to Upstate NY using GPS and/or playing music) and the Fix for winter/daily driving.
No, you won't be able to use the camera while it's mounted (due to the dash being in the way) but it holds my devices rock solid. I've never had it fall off, even with a charging cable plugged into it. I started using it with my Incredible, and used it with the Thunderbolt, the ReZound, the M7, and now my M8. The M7 and M8 I use/d caseless (though I have a skin on the M8, don't want to scratch this beauty) and it holds perfectly. It does require adhering a small button on the back of the device, but this also has helped keep the camera from getting scratched when I lay it on it's back on a table.
The M8 with a case on it might need the XWay or the FixWay (made for larger devices, they have stabilizing rubber "feet" in an X pattern radiating out from the magnetic piece.)
Really can't recommend these enough. They hold perfectly, and are VERY unobtrusive when not in use.

Sorry, don't have pictures of the holder with the device in it.
I'll just note that the holder is adjustable, you can place it either this way or upside down (it swivels 360 degrees), and the grip is adjustable and strong (I actually got my Nexus 7 to fit in it!)
It can easily be turned aside to landscape, and is VERY stable (you can adjust its rigidness).

I used a Mountek in my old car. The felt lining along the CD slot crumpled up and never looked the same again. Depending on how much that bothers you, you might want to avoid them. I'm thinking of getting a ProClip this time around. It uses a suction cup, which goes on a separate dashboard mount that clips into place somewhere on your dash; where exactly depends on your car and what they've made for it. I read a Honda Accord forum; for that car at least, it's supposedly as stable as can be.

Ok so I must decide between Osomount Quick Grip which looks more solid than the U Grip and the iOttie HERE
My main goal is to have a one handed friendly holder, not bulky and of course not falling

I'm going to order the Arkon, after seeing the review here and the reviews online are all really good. It'll also fit my phone with case, and not block the camera. After some run ins with drunk off duty cops, telling me to get out my car and fight (lol), I like the idea of being able to record out the windshield, or front facing camera without obstruction. Will update with a review after I get it and use it for a few days or so. Thanks for all the reviews / suggestions here

are there any car docks that have the USB built in?
does HTC make anything official for the M8 ?

I went ahead and ordered the Mountek nGroove Snap 2 (http://www.mountek.com/shop/categor...i-use-car-mount-smartphones-and-mini-tablets/).
I drive a 2013 FR-S and suction cups have an incredibly hard time sticking to the surface of the dash. I also like that it doesn't obstruct the view of the windshield and it's much more minimal than their Grip mount. I have two TPU cases, one clear on the back and another all black. Figure I'll just apply the extra magnetic blade to the back of the case I'll use in my car.
Once it arrives, I'll share my impressions along with some pictures.

Yep they have an official one and very pretty but it costs a leg and an arm (above 70$) for a holder you will throw next year when the M9 will be out

I bought this a few years ago for my Sensation and have used it on many phones with and without cases since: http://www.proclipusa.com/phone-hol...ble-holder-with-tilt-swivel-875214-18871.cmsv
I've used it on the Sensation, GS3, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, One (M7) and now the M8. All with and without cases (you just have to adjust it)
Again, it's adjustable and works perfectly with my M8 and my Seidio Surface case. You have to purchase the mount to go with it. It is expensive but you'll never have to buy another car mount again.

Just got my Mountek grip yesterday. Here are some pics with and without the M8. Sorry for the poor quality of the ones with the phone in the mount. They were taken with an S3.

Nice but won't it press on volume button?
I ordered the iottie because it has a one hand system button and it got a very good rate on amazon 4.6/5 over 202 reviews!! http://www.iottie.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=1050&ProductType=321

Nope. Doesn't hit any buttons, but does obstruct some of them. Not really a big deal for me, but might be for others. Obviously it also depends on the car, and where you decide to place it. It doesn't have to be mounted in the cd slot. It can be mounted in other crevices. I'll probably test it out in some other spots and see what I prefer.

Car mount for note 2 AND gs3?

Hey guys. Ive looked and there are a few threads but nothing seems conclusive as to what is the best choice for a car mount that will fit the note 2 and also work with the s3.
I want a strong suction and something that will hold the phones steady for use as a gps buy not block the screen and must allow for the car charger to be plugged in to the phone.
Need two so preferably something that won't break the bank.
Thanks.

ive got one of these. it opens wide enough to hold my note 2 with my chunky heavy duty case. enough suction force to not wobble either. but only really seems to work on windscreens. wont work on the faux leather dash in my honda civic, but will work on plastic dashes.
I went with the iBolt xProDock for my Note 2. It fits the GS3 as well and works with cases. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910428 or http://amzn.com/B00AOCSFYC
I love it. It is super easy to insert/remove the phone and it holds it very solidly. I've had it a month and I only suctioned it one time. It shows no signs of weakening. I think the price is definitely worth it.

seems awfully expensive for something with 3.5/5 rating. I think I prefer the clip posted above. i'm going to try to find it locally if not i'll order online.
if there's anything else that would be better please suggest it!
Got the mountek cd slot holder. Couldn't be happier. Doesn't block the road and looks almost like a 2din receiver. Oh super stable too. My old suction one would shake so much and it would be hard to reach while driving
I use the official Samsung Galaxy Universal Suction Car Mount Kit for Samsung Galaxy Phones available from Amazon US. I paid £22 for it delivered to the UK. Very solid, works well with my Galaxy Nexus, S2 and iPhone. Reviews suggest it does work with the Note 2 as well.
You will need to purchase a car charger though, but cannot fault it at all.

I got the same car mount and reviewed it here with pictures:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37487154&postcount=49
The only difference, it was from ebay shipped for only $3.95. Took a little over a week to get here, and it's a fantastic car mount that will hold any phone.
Exomount 2!
I own a few of the Exomounts and one of their newest, the Exomount 2. It is easily the best I have tried as far as a universal type mount.
http://www.arkon.com/Galaxy S III/megagrip-galaxy-s-3-sticky-dash-mount.html
My girlfriend uses this in her 2011 Scion with her GS3. It will also fit the Note 2 with most cases. If you have a giant Otterbox case, it'll be a tight fit. I like this mount because it sticks to the dash and can be adjusted to be around the level of an air vent mount. You can adjust it to different heights and even use it on the windshield.
Her Scion has a textured dash and it hasn't come off in 3 months. Good mount, imo.

thanks for the link. I guess I should have updated the post to mention I already ordered mine.
ended up going with a clip style holder, I like the design more and I want to use the phones horizontally, which the clip seemed to be sturdier at holding than this kind of mount.
let's hope its good!

Since N2 has a big screen, I like to mount it in portrait mode more than landscape for GPS navigation. It lets me look more further ahead.

Arkon makes some of the most durable car mounts! I have this Megagrip since 2.5 years using it with Droid X and now Note 2. What I'm very excited about is their upcoming Slim-Grip Ultra mount that can fit anything from Note 2 to Nexus 7. I talked to Arkon customer support and they mentioned it will be available in a few weeks. Once I get it - will review it here!
The best ones are from ibolt..... check its Web Page. .. !!

Personally I the Breffo Spiderpod, I know its not a car mount but works a treat. just shape it to what you want. Mine uses the vents to hang on, been using it for 2 months now. My Note 2 has never come out, and I just slid it in and out even fits a treat with my flipcover.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breffo-Spid...19K4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360079702&sr=8-1
The Samsung i9300 official one works perfectly for me - fits my Note 2 with case, and is also sold as S3 compatible (and in fact I've tried mine with an S3 and works fine). Solid, has never fallen off my windscreen, and I'm just converting it at the moment to have a fixed power plug I can slot the phone on to, though that's probably not an option if you want to use the 2 phones with it.
I second the IBolt for Note2. I have been waiting for it to be released for months now and it is finally out. Although you have to wait for the charging cable until March.
It is built very very well, mounts to windshield, dashboard and has an optional permanent mount bracket also. My favorite part is the phone goes into Dock mode once attached. I have this mount for the GS3 and it is amaizing. Before purchasing it for the S3 i went through three seperate mounts from Best buy, returned them all. None of them came even remotely close to the quality of the IBolt mount.

I was following this dock right up to the point where they said you had to connect the power cable yourself. I wanted a mount that I could slide the phone in onto a power connector, for one-handed operation. I'm now making my own

I get what your saying, but i usually dock my phone when i get into my truck connect it and it stays there until i get out. I don't see any reason for plugging and unplugging it while driving unless i'm missing something?

Me too, it's just the ease of doing this that I want. Slide in, slide out, no fumbling around for cables and getting the orientation and angle right and pushing it in properly... Much rather have a 1 handed operation that I can get in the car, place the phone in its dock, bring the sides in to grip it (easily all done with 1 hand), and have it activate car mode and start charging from the car at the same time. Equally, to get it out I just press a button on the back to release the grip, and pull the phone up - still all easily done with one hand. It's how I've had every other car dock as well. Sometimes when I get in the car I forget to put my phone in the dock, so it becomes even tricker - this makes it very easy.
Anyway, each to their own. I'll probably start a thread about the one I'm making at some point so other people can do the same thing if they want.

Best Car Dock For Note 2?

I've narrowed it down to these 3
http://www.ibolt.co/ibxs-33603
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004G1L52Q
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007BCJKQA
The first one looks optimal because of that cord that connects to only one side of the phone and can connect to the car charger and the aux. ( shows around 1:30 of the video )
Tried googling for a cord like that but couldn't find any... if there are cords like that sold separately I may consider the cd one more.
Please let me know your opinions and if there are any cords like that.
Ibolt had a rocky start with their presale...but if they get their **** together, I would recommend their product.

pretty sure most of these other ones hold most phones as well.

I keep hearing reviews that the cling part gets gummy in the heat. I stayed away from that one since I'm in Florida and it gets pretty hot here most of the year.
I too am on the hunt for the perfect car mount... I'm leaning towards the mountek just because I'm tired of the suction cup models not sticking to the dash, and the vent models don't work for me.

You'd be correct sir. When the gummy part heats up from being in the sun for a while (or from dust collecting), your phone will shoot off the minute you break hard.
My old HTC One X took a few tumbles from a similar gum-based mount. If you're using in a stationary function, say on a desk or wall near a desk, it'd probably be ok.
How hard do you want to work for it and how much do you care what it looks like?
I butchered a HTC HD2 dock to work. It looks good (subjective of course but there's almost no clips and wires and latches and junk, very minimal) and it's secure (it is suction cup, it's just been a good working suction cup for me) includes usb charging, one handed not a ugly little cable hanging off to the side.
But it was kind of a ***** flipping the usb port over and still having it point at the right angle and not bugger up the wire connecting to it. But all in all took less than two hours and I love it every minute I'm in the car, so, worth it.
ProClip makes an even more convenient mount as far as using it. Like a slot you drop the phone in, no aiming, requires no attention at all. Usb charging. Very stable. But ugly. In my truck it would be fine but in my nice car I just don't want to look at something so blocky and mechanical if I can avoid it. It's not the worst by far in that respect but I just like better if it's possible. Also it's $100 in two parts. If it looked better I'd have no problem with that. The HD2 mount was 70 I think but it served the entire lifespan of my og evo and now works for my gn2 so that 70 is pretty good by now.
The new ibolt one? Blech. Well it looks a little better than most commodity universal mounts. The aluminum rails are at least cooler than the usual all black plastic. But to me it's only a slight improvement. It's still a generic crappola universal gps/phone clamp like all the rest. It's one unique feature is the special usb cable that will trigger smart dock mode. But thanks to Samsung there is no distinct car mode detection, just smart dock mode. So if you assign that to a car home app, you get the car home everywhere i cluding your desk and nightstand. We can use nfc tags and get a better result than that with no special cable. So it's back to being a completely generic, ugly, inconvenient, holder.
The next best option I've seen is this universal one that has springloaded grabber arms, but they have it set up for one handed operation. The arms are open when the dock is empty. When you put the phone in it presses a button that releases the arms to close on the phone. It's surprisingly secure. I shook the mount all around trying to shake the phone free.l and it didn't budge. When the arms close, two buttons pop out at the same time opposite each arm, on oposite sides of the phone. To release the phone you just grab the phone, and your thumb & forefinger are already right there on those two buttons. Press the buttons together and that opens the arms. So you are releasing the phone and grabbing the phone in the same motion. It works quite well. No usb built in but the port is exposed to use your own cable. Looks are fair. They are are thin and unobtrusive compared to many and there's only two arms on the sides and two resting pegs on the bottom. You could hack those rests right off and it would work exactly as well and look significantly neater. Suction cup base. It's called Smart Tap.
Another option is someone Someone on xda here came up with a pretty clean hack of the original note mount. No filing, just a little heat gun softening.
I never heard of Mountek so thanks for the clue I'll check it out.
There is really no "good" solution for the this phone yet.

I ordered one the "iMagnet Cradle-less Magnetic Mount with Quick-snap Technology". It should be here tomorrow. I'd post a link, but I haven't gotten enough posts in to get that ability, even though my account is pretty old.
It's one of the magnetic mounts. You stick a metal disk on your phone/case and bam. Has good reviews, so I thought i'd give it a try.

yeah i saw a couple bad reviews on that as well so it kinda turned me off, i'd rather get something that's more secure.
i really like the ibolt cable, not a big fan of suction cups either so the mountek looks optimal if only i could get that cable separate i might just end up getting ibolt because of the cable
you guys have given some really good insight,i will check out the hd2 as well and see if i could get that to work haha.
about the smart dock mode, i don't have any other dock elsewhere so that's not an issue for me, but it doesn't go into dock mode if i plug in usb to connect to the computer or plug it into my charger does it?
I just got the iOtti mount for mine. I LOVE it!

Not sure where you are located, but I guess we are far away from summertime to test it out if it stays stuck to the surface? I was looking at this case as well, until read in another forum about people having issues with a sticky part of the suction cup especially when it gets hot outside. Maybe it was a defective batch or whatever. That kind of put me away from buying it, plus I was waiting for Arkon to release their slim grip ultra mount with a sticky suction cup I actually have it coming my way next week and will review it once I get it. But I don't think it has any release buttons, etc. like their other grip mount I had for my DX. I guess I'm still on the fence until I get it and test it out. But I'm definitely glad iOttie is working out for you! I just wish they would drop "i" cause I'm sure a lot of android people buying their mounts as well lol!!!

So once you release a suction cup latch you have to pry it off the dash board with a butter knife? Will it take off dashboard textured layer or so? Not sure if you were kidding or serious about it sticking like cement

He is not kidding. Read the Amazon reviews. This thing sticks to anything and the quick release is a GOD sent. It's SO easy to take the phone in and out of the mount, and once you put it in the mount it isn't going any where. Lots of adjustable settings. I LOVE it.
On my previous mounts I didn't even use them that often (only when I needed GPS), but this thing is so easy to take in/out that I do it every time I drive the car. It is worth every penny for sure!
I used my 50% off at Samsung.com and got the universal there. Loving it.

I need a car dock

Yes.....so....my car dock is broken....can't stick to anything anymore.
I need a really good one (like someone doesn't want a really good one) duh. ...anyway
I love the flexible arm option....anyway nd need a big suction cup. The one(s) I had were 'too small' and couldn't get enough surface area for a good "stay". I looked all over amazon ...and ironically no good write up if not any that have options as I mentioned. Anyone have anything out there like above mentioned?..I really need the flex bc I different vehicles I use.
Thanks

Car Dock
How much does a car dock cost?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333 - scroll down to Mounts/Stands/Grips section of my reviews (I know, there is a ton in there ). Pretty much, I reviewed almost every single car mount available on the market. What I can HIGHLY recommend is Slim Grip Ultra by Arkon. The quality of their mounts and sticky gel suction cups is bar none. Been using it for years. Plus what I like about Slim Grip Ultra is that you can use it either with a phone or 7"/8" tablet. And it fits with any case, even Defender. Plus, when you go to their website, for every mount you get something like a dozen of different mounting arm options. Typically, all their mounts are around $20-$25 (on amazon it's cheaper), and come with 2 year warranty.
I will sooo definitely take a looong read lol

Thanks for this link. I always find it hard to get what I want out of the search bar.
I'm using a RAM Mount setup for my Note 2. Phablet X-Grip, RAM-B-201-C Long arm and twist-grip suction cup.
Not the cheapest option out there, but it works great, is solid and can be moved from one vehicle to another relatively easily. I'll try to take photos when I get the chance.
I've been using the iOttie that is windshild mount. I stick mine to the dash. Very similar the Anker recommended above. Been working well for me for over a year. I use mine every day. I don't switch cars very often, but I haven't had issues. I just kept the little plastic cup cover when transporting or putting away to keep the sticky area of the cup clean.
I will say, it's kind of pain to get the mount off the dash because it sticks very well.

Arkon, not Anker I make this mistake as well since I review so many different products, including a lot from both Anker and Arkon lol!!!
iOttie is not bad, but I found a problem using it with rugged cases. Something like Defender or Zerolemon Zeroshock with ZL battery not going to fit well because iOttie grip arms are short. Plus, Arkon slim-grip ultra can also fit my Nexus 7 (or Note 8 or iPad Mini) so it makes it a better value for the same or cheaper price (depending on amazon sales).

Opps, I didn't even realize I wrote the wrong company name. I believe I have products from both companies too. I have one of Anker's 10A external batteries, and, I believe, my dash tablet holder/mount is from Arkon.
I knew the iOttie had limitations. I just didn't remember them all. Then again, the issues you mentioned, especially in regards to cases like Defender, and extended batteries is very common. It's part of the cost of getting a thick case or big battery.
I wouldn't dispute the value of the Arkon. I especially like the idea of the various mounting brackets. Although, from what it looked like, they're all separate units, running about $20 to #40 a piece, which could end up being very expensive. More useful if the cost was, say, halved and just get the mounting bracket and can just use one cradle with any bracket. I think this could a good deal for the person who travels a lot and may need or want various ways to mount their mobile device.
As for the iOttie itself, it's worked well for me. Granted, I only use the normal OEM battery, and have a cheap Cruzerlite case on my phone:

Although now it has a yellowing to some degree. Anyway, what I like is that the cup and it's additional stickiness works on my dash board. The dash although not extremely curved, is curved just enough that unless it's small cup, can't maintain or establish suction. Plus, I prefer not use the windshield if I don't have to; plus, California law actual prohibits it as well. I don't want to use the airvent. And I want something mostly secure, so those weighted friction dash mount pads, didn't fit the bill. I'm concern if I get an accident or something it flying around. I also liked it had a small arm. Adjustable a different parts of bracket. The ball is actually doing well in keeping position. I've had other mounts that after a year couldn't keep a hold, and ultimately ended having to rest the holder on the dash. I just couldn't fasten the holding nut any tighter. The push button fastener is a nice bonus touch to it as well. Just pop the phone in, the holding bracket on the faster cling the device. The release button opens up a releases the device.
I'm not quite as sold on the Arkon's value in regards to being able to hold larger devices. Not so much whether it can, but more how many people have that need. Given how some smart phones are getting bigger, I do see it as a valid argument. How many of use end up getting new mounting devices every time we get a new mobile device. Yet, I don't see a lot of people having a phablet and small tablet. Personally, since I wanted to get phablet, since the first Dell streak was released (Sprint didn't offer a phablet till the Note 2 and I didn't want to switch carriers), I just did not see significant benefit of a 7" tablet over a phone that was almost 6" in size. I got a 10" tablet instead which does give a different experience beyond the user interface between the devices. Granted this last bit is really a subjective matter and I do think Nexus 7 and other such tablets give an excellent value and experience, and are overall very good devices.
On a side note, for me, I think a more ideal car mount would be something similar to a Clingo but with suction cup of the iOttie or Akron. I have a clingo neklit I use with a Gameklip and the first generation pivot pad, which both use similar sticky pads. They work really well and even better with a nonTPU surface. When it starts losing stickiness, I just rinse it off under cold water and rub it thoroughly with my finger and let drive. And best part, the device limitation is about the device's weight, not it's dimensions. Plus, their commercials can be a bit funny
I have used the PivotPad with my 10" tablet. It worked, but the weight and size compared the PivotPad's sticky pad were ideal. It was easy to knock off. It does work well with GN2.
I recommend Tetrax. You only need a magnet.

[Q] Car mount similar to iOttie?

I have an iOttie that I use on my note 4 (I am going to return it, to get the nexus 6). However I noticed that the nexus will be too wide for the car mount. Does anyone know a similar mount that will fit this phone?
Not off hand. I wish they would release an official car dock. The one for nexus one and gal nexus were awesome. Nothing released officially for nexus 4 or 5
There's an "iOttie One Touch XL" that holds devices up to 3.5" wide, which should be enough for an N6 plus a case.
I'm planning to get The Air Dock for it.

As much as I love wireless charging (and I do I have 5 QI chargers at home I use all the time) it just doesn't work for me in the car. I use GPS and stream music all the time with screen always on. Wireless can't even come close to keeping up to that. I'm sure it will be worse with the N6 screen size too... I am really hoping they release an official car dock this time. Moto seems to be good at doing that so I am hopeful.

On iOttie's website FAQs, they list the sizes of each of their mounts. Actually, the One Touch XL only goes up to 3.3", which should be just wide enough for the N6 since it is roughly 3.27" wide. However, it probably wouldn't work if you put a case on it. The only one I can see working if you put a case on it would be the Easy View 2, which has a max width of 3.5".
HOWEVER, I can see another potential issue arising if you want to use a car mount like this. Notice where the buttons are. They are not towards the top of the device like other phones. They are smack dab in the center going down the right side, taking up a good range in the middle of the phone. So you would have to have the mount clamp down on either the top or bottom of the device. I guess we won't know how awkward it would be to use until we have the device in-hand, so we'll see when the phone actually comes out.
Interesting- when I posted that comment there was a graphic on the Amazon listing showing support for up to 3.5. The image is no longer there, so it was likely an error. Too bad.

I have the IOttie Easy One Touch XL
MODEL NO: HLCRIO101
It is the best mount I've found to reduce vibration, and super easy to use.
Another iOttie that would work if you need extra distance from your windshield to you, but will vibrate more of course is the iOttie Easy One Touch 2 Universal

I have a Tylt Vu Qi charger for my N4 on my desk at work and I've loved it. I've had it for just about a year now (or has it been 2 I can't remember).
Anyway I ran across this recently and they are advertising it will launch this year. I'm optimistic since Tylt makes such high quality products (from my limited experience)

I like the magnetic phone mounts. I currently use one from Mountek on my Nexus 5. http://www.mountek.com/shop/
Do you have to use the plate or does it just hold on with the Nexus 5 magnets?
Anything like that but with qi charging?
Thanks

I just received this one from Amazon a couple days ago when I was able to get it for $7: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GSI0MM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Will see how it works out. Keep in mind the buttons are almost smack dab in the middle of the right side of the phone, so you have to be mindful where the grippers will squeeze, or it'll push the buttons.
Inspiration! (Mountek nGrove Grip)

I'm using Mountek nGroove Snap2 with my Nexus5. It's great that I don't have to use any of the plates provided as Nexus5 has wireless charging feature, so the body will stick to the magnet just fine. It is very convenient that I can just throw and it stick easily unlike the hassle of using grip type mount.
Now I hope it will work just fine too with Nexus 6. The non flat back of N6 worries me. maybe I need to modify it so that N6 will not move around when mounted. :fingers-crossed:

I have the same magnetic mount. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I have an iOttie as well but the Mountek is just so much more convenient in that I don't have to slide open the arms to insert or remove my phone.
I have the same concern you do about the curved back. I also use a case and was thinking I'd have to bend the included metal plates to fit between the phone and the case. I absolutely refuse to stick the plate to the back of my case because of the added thickness and the fact that it will just look ugly.
I have the iOttie Easy One Touch 2 Universal Mount (The one that extends), it's a great mount and will fit the N6 without a case. The problem is the button placement on the N6., the mount manages to squeeze the lower volume button when it shuts. Also It will not fit with a case on. Just thought I would let anyone know who was looking into it for a care mount. Again for any other phone this thing is great, best mount I have purchased so far.
RAM X-Grip?
I have been looking into the RAM X-Grip, mostly because of its 4-point "X"-Grip which should avoid pushing any of the hardware buttons.
It is also built like a tank (w/ lifetime warranty) which should lend itself well to any dashboard video recordings should I desire to utilize it for that purpose.
It is relatively expensive ($40-52) but if it out performs (in terms of secure grip & vibration reduction) every other plastic 2-piece pincer style mount then it is absolutely worth the extra investment.
I am still unsure whether the short arm or medium arm length would be best and whether to go with the small or large suction cup option.
I read on Amazon, one pro for the large suction cup (aside from likely better suction) is that the 1" ball (that the arm attaches to) screws on to the suction cup so it can be a bit more versatile (allowing you to screw anything onto the suction cup) should you desire that functionality. Although it appears another option should you desire more versatility from your mount would be to purchase the 1" ball with the plate (w/ screw holes) separately and simply replace the X-Grip mount. This of course means you have the adjustable arm in the system now, but I think that's a good thing.
Last note:
I also read in an Amazon review (and sorta noticed in one video review) there MAY be a bit of play (rotating around the z?-axis, like rotating portrait to landscape) in the X-Grip cradle/mount itself, but more research is necessary to confirm this is actually an issue or just a faulty unit.
First post on XDA
I will be back after further research.

Car Mount for Droid Turbo

So how about how awesome this phone is!
Got a sweet car mount for it, and I'm loving being able to map for hours without the battery being dead afterwards!
The car mount is from amazon, a brand called TechMatte. I'm a huge fan of techmatte- since I got my car charger from them a year and a half ago (which still works perfectly, and charges rapidly (even though now I dont really have to lol)) All you need for this car mount is a flat surface on your dash, or you just put it on your windshield (if that's cool with the police where you live).
Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick shoutout to a mount that is pretty reasonably priced, and works pretty darned well.
Oh, and for the record, my husband uses an iOttie one, and I personally like the TechMatte better. Personal preference
Thanks for the recommendation. I wasn't sure where to mention this but for the ProClip fans, they are making a custom mount for the Droid Turbo although it's not specifically designed for the ballistic nylon version.
This is a quality car mount: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HRKI5V2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I currently have the Proclip in my Nissan Altima and this time I went with the iOauto magnetic holder. So far it's working great! I'm using the incipio case, and I just have the metal tab on the back. Some may not like this aesthetic, but I'm fine with it. I also believe it would have no problem sticking to the back of my Ballistic Nylon since the tab comes with a very sheer yet easily secured sticky film to put over the disc.
The disc locks into place on the base and I can rotate and tilt without issue. No amount of rough driving or vibration has knocked it loose unlike my last experiment which seem to slide off with any virbration...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DPMNNUO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also the above item cause me to not be able to use my wireless charger, but the disc from iOauto does not block wireless charging. I have it situation a few mm below the camera and dead center. The wireless charger I'm using:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NBPHHES/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So as long as you don't mind having a very small very thin metal disc on the back of your phone I would highly recommend the ProClip/iOauto solution. Especially if you want to use a case or a bumper. (when will we get a nice bumper anyway?)

I ended up going with this version (http://www.amazon.com/Koomus-CD-Eco-Universal-Smartphone-Samsung/dp/B00JP0RTB4/ref=pd_sim_cps_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0SVJ5T5XZQ43ZRKFT94F since it sounded like the depth of the mount on the other one might be an issue. So far having good experience with it. A little vibration using a grip at the bottom 1/3 of my phone but not too bad.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/bracket...lack/8762788.p?id=1202650710539&skuId=8762788 I use this. I like a mechanical mounting system so it's secure, and this really holds your phone in place. Plus side, can be used for pretty much any phone regardless of size and its very strong. Downside, sits on a vent so during the winter you have to keep that one closed otherwise the phone gets blasted with hot air.
I don't think I understand why people use car mounts so much... I mean I guess if you are using a maps app or something, but other than for that, I see no reason to have one. Am I missing something?

I always keep Waze up when I'm driving, to get traffic and police alerts.
For car mounts- I have the iOttie One Touch car mount. It worked really well for me for about a month and a half, but after that the suction cup stopped working.... So I'm on the market for a new one. But I do agree with OP, this phone is great.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I use my phone for both navigation on trips, plus I listen to Slacker Radio through BT connected to my cars entertainment system. I like to have a car mount that puts the phone in easy to reach and easy to see without having to take my eyes off the road for long. I too prefer the ProClip option, though currently they only offer the mount for the standard Turbo, not the Ballistic Nylon 64gb version. Right now, I will have to deal with a universal mount until ProClip develops the one for the ballistic nylon Turbo.

Thanks, but isnt' that a little pricey? $30 for the cheapest one seems a little unreasonable.
Logitech [+]trip and [+]drive mounts?
Has anyone tried these with the BN model? I tried one in Best Buy with the dummy phone but I have no idea if the dummy's have more metal than the real deal.
FWIW, the dummy model attached extremely well to the [+]drive but the [+]trip was pretty weak.

I've not found one I like yet. I had having things on my vents, and on the window is not a solution for us here in Arizona as our phones overheat in just a few mins up there. Driving a Prius and using a dashmat leaves me in a place where I am going to just need to just make my own. Velcro, suction cups, and doublesided tape do not work in the heat here as well.
While some of the mounts here you guys listed here are nice, doesn't the magnetic ones mess up the compass in the GPS, or it does not matter since it is really pulling info from the satalites?
One last thing, for us using cases such as Otter Boxes I bet some of those mounts would not work. When I get my mount done I'll post some pics.

About the gps-- the magnet should not alter anything... you're thinking of the boy scout compasses. Those would be messed up, not your phone
My techmatte fell off for the first time today. I've had it for a few months now, and with the chill, it finally fell off. Pretty long duration. I will reapply when it gets a little warmer out.
