[Q] Easy Mode - Call waiting - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I searched but couldn't find anything on this. I have a user who has the AT&T Note 3. She likes to use easy mode. However she cannot use call waiting. It doesn't allow her to. If she turns off easy mode, it works just fine. Her boyfriend has the verizon model and it works fine for him in easy mode. Is there something i'm missing on the AT&T version. When i put her phone in easy mode, i checked to make sure that call waiting was ticked following these instructions:
From the Home Screen tap Phone.
Press the Menu key.
Tap Call settings.
Tap Additional settings.
Tick/Untick Call waiting.
If anyone can assist would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: If someone with a Note 3 on AT&T can test with their phone to see if it works, would be much appreciated. Just put your phone in Easy mode and then see if you can put a call on hold. This would help me out quite a bit and would let me know if its her phone or just AT&T stopping it from working. Thanks!
2nd EDIT: I contacted Samsung and they said it should work but doesn't. This is what Samsung said "If the Call waiting working in Standard mode and it is activated from the Carrier, we request you to reset the app preferences by following the below steps:
From the home screen touch menu or apps > settings > more > application manager > swipe the screen to left till you see “All” > touch menu > tap on Reset app preferences.
After that, please perform the soft reset on the phone.
Soft reset refreshes the device internal circuitry.
1. Turn off the handset.
2. Remove the battery and wait for 30 seconds.
3. Reinsert the battery and turn ON the device.
If the issue persists, please clear the cache of the device by following the below steps.
These troubleshooting steps will not delete the data of the device. However, the cache files and bug files will be cleared.
1.Power the device off (remove and re-insert the battery).
2.Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
3.When the device vibrates; release only the Power key.
4.When the Android system recovery menu displays; release the Volume Up and the Home key.
5.Navigate with the Volume keys to the “Wipe cache partition” option and press the Power key to select.
6.After user data deletes, press the Power key to reboot system now. "
None of the above worked. Went to Bestbuy and had the Samsung tech try it. He had an AT&T Note 3 and we tested. It did the same thing for him. I believe it maybe an issue with the KitKat update but not 100% sure. I will let Samsung and AT&T know and see if they can fix the issue.

Can't hard reset Diamond

Does anyone have any ideas on why I am unable to hard reset my diamond?
I've had a look around the forums but haven't been able to find anything.
Doing the standard Vol Down + Enter + reset but it only does a normal soft reset.
Is the "Clear storage and format internal storage" option from the system settings the closest to a hard reset?
Thx in advance

well yes - that is the closest. but before that (since it'll format internal storage too) try this:
1a. press the red soft reset button, release it and immediately (i mean immediately) follow 2 OR
1b. turn off ur fone - keep the top power button pressed, and tap yes to turn it off... once turned off... press once and release the power button and immediately follow 2. OR
1c. take the battery out. put it back in and press the power button once and release and immediately follow 2:
2. press and KEEP PRESSED... Vol Down & Enter (center circle) until the screen shows up asking u to format blah blah...
Are you holding the Vol. DN. & Enter buttons, or just pressing & releasing?
I find the easiest way is to follow steps 1c & 2 written by Cloudedhopes. But, here is a more detailed instruction if you need:
1) Remove, then replace battery {ensures the device is completely off}
2) Press & HOLD: Vol. DN. & Enter buttons
3) Press & release: Power button
4) Release Vol. Dn. & Enter buttons only after grey confirmation screen appears!!! <Very important!
5) Press Vol. Up {resets main memory only; Internal storage is not affected}
6) Wait for device to reboot {You are now hard reset}
If this does not work then, there is something wrong with your hardware. Check to make sure the Vol & enter buttons all work.
@ CloudedHopes: Using the "Clear Storage" program will not clear out the Internal Storage unless you ask it to.
Worked
Thanks to cloudedhopes and Humblehippie
Finally got it boy's
A funny story to it
I had one of those thick mirror screens (screen protectors) on my diamond screen and also on the HW buttons (inluding the Enter button).
The enter button worked fine, or so I thought, for exmaple, I would select calender and hit the Enter button and it would open up the calendar no problem.
So her I am thinking its something else
Anyway, I remove the plastic bit form the Enter button and try to hard reset... VIOLA! Hard reset worked.
Moral of the story? Does not seem to be competely idiot proof
Thanks again guys

I have a big problem guys and need good help fast...
My diamond flipped out on me last night. Soft reset doesnt do squat and it keeps freezing at the first page displaying text: Touch Diamond (and some red lettering on the bottom taht indicates the ROM or some thing like that)
I have tried a hard reset and it doesnt do anything different, just keeps showing the screen where it used to freeze up before and the buttons doesnt do s**t (buttons all worked properly before, I was doing some web surfing and listening to music when it crashed the first time, so I was adjusting the volume and using the enter key quite often)
Now, everything I have tried just keeps freezing it up at that same "welcome/bootup screen and I seem to be quite "bent over" right now...
Do you guys know about an issue regarding my problem and a possible solution? (need the phone for work and all my costumers infos are on it with a backup of it on the internal memory (I know, not bright at all and I realize it now!!)
Any help and suggestions are more then welcome...
HELP!!
I have managed to do hard reset after all...
It seems that my version of the touch diamond is different, even from my users manual
To do a hard reset I must hold POWER, VOLDOWN and ENTER, then press the soft reset button...
But afterthe hard reset, I found out anotherproblem... Opera doesnt work anymore, seems like its not even installed! Its missing a bunc of files.
Did the hard reset had a problem and screwed up the reinitialization process or is it normal?
How can I get it working? (IE is not to my taste and cant even do the landscape mode)
Please someone, need some help!!

So far just found how to make dualboot but for this purpose i have to enter file explorer... which i can't do because I have a password at beginning before even start the OS's interface. If someone can help me please wite here or at my skype didkuivanov

[Q] Phone unusable - Launcher Pro (android.process.acore)

Hi everyone,
I was using my nexus one with low battery, and then it shut down.
I went back to car, attached it to the recharger, and pushed power button.
At this point it turned on and a setup similar to first boot appeared (selection of language, date & time, google account)..
Once the setup was completed, I pressed the home button and associated it with Launcher Pro.
At this point a popup message appeared, saying (translated from italian):
"Sorry! Sudden interruption of the application Launcher Pro (process Android.process.acore). Retry.", with a button named "Retry".
- If I press the "Retry" button, the same popup message appears on and on again.
- If I shut the phone down and restart it, it asks for the SIM pin, the unlock pattern, and then the popup message appears again and again..
- I can't access the menu through the button, and I am stuck in this situation!..
- I tried to uninstall Launcher Pro via appbrain about two hours ago, but with no luck..
Any help would be much appreciated..
Thanks!

Froyo OTA (FRF91?)
Assuming you aren't rooted, I just want to let you know you always have the last resort of resetting the phone back to default, so the phone itself is still fine.
With root, you can ADB and remove LauncherPro.
Hi cigar3tte,
I'm not rooted, so I could "reset the phone back to default".
Do you mean reset it to factory default (aka hard reset)?
Note: If I press the menu button at the bottom of the device, nothing happens and the popup keeps showing up
However, the procedure I found for the hard reset is this:
"With the phone shut off, while holding down the volume button on the side of the N1, press the power button briefly while maintaining the volume button pressed in for around 5-10 seconds.
You should be presented with a menu that allows for: Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock. You can release the volume button at this time.
Select Clear storage with the volume button up and down, then press and release the power button to make the selection.
It will ask you to confirm this decision. Press the yes button using the volume up."
Should i proceed so?
Thanks!

Yes, I meant a factory reset. Before doing so, check for any data you might want to save.
As for the method, what you found should work fine. I've never done a hard reset from the default recovery. I've only done it from the phone itself (which you can't access) and custome recovery.
Hi cigar3tte,
I followed your suggestion and did the shut-off-and-on procedure.
After that, I was asked to complete the initial configuration (time, google account, etc). and I am now on the home screeen!
Thank you so much for your help!
For future reference, you would probably have been able to fix this without wiping... turn the phone on, then when the X appears hold the trackball, it should boot in safe mode and you can remove/clear data as needs be.
AuraxTSense ROM - I know someone having this issue, anything they can try short of full wipe?

Having the same issue. Apparently if the phone is not rooted everything works just well...
hi
for fix this problems please run this points:
Step 1: Reboot your phone in safe mode to know if it stillpattern or pin screen lock takes about 3-5 seconds to verify
Starting the phone up in safe mode will temporarily disable all third-party apps and if one of them is causing the problem, then it should lag or freeze in that state. In which case, all you have to do is find the app that’s causing the problem to fix it.
Power off your Galaxy J7. Press and hold the Power key, tap Power off and then touch POWER OFF to confirm.
Press and hold the Power key past the screen with the device name.
When ‘SAMSUNG’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode’.
Finding the culprit is easy to do but if you have a lot of apps, it becomes really challenging. So, begin your search with apps that you installed close to the time the problem started. Once found, you may try clearing its cache and data first but if that doesn’t work, then you have to uninstall it. Please take note that clearing the cache and data may delete your settings for that app as well as the data you’ve accumulated.
From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
Tap Settings.
Tap Applications.
Tap Application manager.
Tap suspected app.
Tap Storage.
Tap Clear cache.
Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
You may have to uninstall more than one app to find the problem so be patient.
Step 2: Wipe cache partition so caches will be replaced
System caches that are corrupt or obsolete can also cause this kind of problem or any other performance issues. It’s recommended you delete them from time to time so they will be replaced with new ones but since you really don’t have access to individual caches, you just have to delete all of them at once and you can do that by booting your device up in recovery mode:
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
Press the Power key to select.
Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.
Once the phone becomes active and ready, try to observe it if the freezes and lags are still there and if so, then you have no other choice but to reset your device.
It also happens, I just changed the kernel and you're done
Or you can upon installing the ROM via TWRP flash "no-verity-opt-encrypt", allow it to boot and then flash Magisk. Just checked - the unlock works fast and the root is intact.
same lag
the same issue here
help please
Same Problem face but when input customer rom then problem slob but if I input customer then full charge by long time.

I have faced the slimier problem and I have tried all possible methods suggested on internet event the steps defined above but no luck. Here's only two thinks you can do about this problem.
1. Do not use PIN/Password/Pattern but use Fingerprints. It will not lags when you use Fingerprint to unlock your device.
2. Hence it's only happens when you root your mobile so you have to flash your mobile with original ROM (easily available on internet) to unroot your device. After unroot it won't lags.
Apparently there is nothing more you can do about this issue.

Navagation Bar freezing

I am on pie stable and since "updating" every now and then when using an app the nav bar just does not respond. The rest of the screen is ok but cant get back to the nav bar to move things.
I have tried going into setting during the freeze to change to gestures but this does nothing.
Is this a Pie glitch or something with certain apps.
Saw a screen freeze thread but that had gone on to talk about battery things.
The same happen here sometimes...
Me too... Really annoying. (I concluded that leaving certain apps open are NOT the problem, happens on home screen too)
I have the same problem and is awaiting Nokias help desks response...
Have any of you solved this problem?
Purchased my Nokia 7 Plus in mediamarkt.de last week, so it's brand new. This crap bothers me though and it's my 3rd Nokia in a year. Has HMD turned Nokia into ****?

When it happens go into settings -> system-> about phone. That wakes up the navbar, but it will probably freeze again at some point.
I also have this since a few weeks (siince the update to pie).
Already tried Factory Reset and on advice of Nokia i tried Safe mode, but the last was a problem for me.
You only get real androidone, with only google apps.
So my token app (multifactor authentication for work and for private) where not available, just liek a few other needed apps.
I had to reboot again to go back to normal.
Now i have cleared the cache via a fastboot option, but did that this evening, so i have to wait again for locking up.
For others who want to try:
* Safe mode: Press power button until you see the power menu.
Press AND HOLD for 2 seconds the button Power Off and the system wil reboot to Safe mode
* Clear cache (it sounds strange, but seems to work):
1) Turn off the device
2) connect it to a power source using the original charger
3) Press and hold both power key and volume up key
4) When the android logo pop up, release the power key (keep holding the volume up key)
5) when the android alien laying of the floor appear release the volume key up
6) hold the power key and press one time the volume up key
7) use the volume keys to navigate and power key to select
8) select*run graphic test*-> yes
9) select reboot system now. Verify if it works properly.
During the clear cache actions, i got an error first, but the system then did the update again and worked (whatever update it was).

After using the phone for 48 hours now, without any problems with the button bar, i suppose that above actions did really solve this problem.
I can advise anyone with this problem, to try this solution (clear cache via Graphics test)
New Info:
Really to bad, 24 hours after writing the above, the button bar got stuck again.
But i could get it free via System Settings -> System -> About Phone
As told by another person in this thread.
I really thought the problem was gone.
Already informed Nokia/HMD Global about this.
