Awesome! It's great to see cwm finally here. How is it running? Does it have the same issues that the other two recoveries are having with restoring backups? If not I'd flash this immediately, but I'd like to see some feed back first.

Was looking in Rom manager but couldn't find the M8 under HTC . I saw the M8 device but it's listed as M8 under M8 device and might be misleading.

No, didn't hurt. It boots, it flashes, it backs up and restores. Aroma installer looks like a bad tv screen, the same thing on latest PhilZ recovery and usb option still doesn't connect as on any other recovery.
As I didn't much more, time will show what else works or not. I like the idea of swiping, also scrolling up and down is a little pain until you foind out how it works.
Guys you can flash that and use it without nuking your devices. Some more feedback would be welcome. You shouldn't miss the rainbow mode...

Yeah, after a couple of minutes I rebootet to turn it off.

Lol!! Rainbow mode is funny.. Seems to be rock n a rolling ok here. Just running a backup now and will try to restore shortly as both Philz and TWRP aint working right for me.

Android_secure.img? Did you back up that particular directory? If it restores boot.img, system and data that should be enough to restore your device completely.
Android_secure is being skipped here as well, after these three particular backups have been restored. So it's neither important, nor needed!
For backups I'm using online nandroid backup. Very comfortable as you don't need to boot into recovery to do a nandroid backup and it can be customized the hell out of it. No need for any settings in recovery (missing here anyways) so. Give Nandroid Manager a go as well on your device if you need single files being restored.
Ey and I LIKE SWIPING with this recovery. It's the future... Touch was yesterday.
I'll keep it on my device and walk through the functions the next days.

now people ... i need detailed details of whats working and whats not ... i want this to get stable

At&t M8 unlocked, S-off, CID-111111.
Tried to backup to sdcard1 and it showed in your recovery before I wiped and restored an older backup.
Wipe/factory reset worked as it should.
Restored older CWM backup and rebooted without an issue.
Looked in ROM Manager for the backup I did before the the wipe and it wasn't there.
Rebooted into recovery via ROM Manager...no issues.
Looked for backup again in sdcard1 and it didn't save.
Factory wipe/reset.
Installed new ROM zip and booted up no issues.
Back into recovery, factory wipe/reset.
Restored last prior backup and dirty flashed updated ROM...worked without issues.
Currently waiting for some free time to try a backup to internal sd.....Hope this helps. Had this type of swipe recovery on my S4...thanks for your time/work and hope you can get it working 100%.
Tried to do backup via ROM Manager...Booted into recovery but E:unknown volume for path /external_sd/clockworkmod/backup/..... Can't mount backup path.
Did a backup to internal sd in CWM and I see the date/backup but haven't wiped and tried restoring yet.

What was the problem with restore in PhilZ?
I backed up ARHD and after flashing new firmware and everything I wiped the system and everything and restore nandroid without problems... What problem are you talking about the restore?

when i opened rom manager and choose the rom i wanted to install it asked if i wanted to wipe and backup or something but i know i check both. then i install the zip in the recovery boot menu and rebooted and no luck. then i tried another rom and wiped before installing and still no luck.
At the very top of rom manager, you must flash 2.5.0.1 recovery. Did you do this first?

This exact same thing happened to me. What I did to fix it was pull the battery, then wipe everything (dalvik, data, cache), and then rebooted. My phone was able to boot then.
I'm having the same problem with rom manager. I just rooted my desire using the unrevoked method, then ran rom manager. I did install the recovery mode first, then backed up the rom. How my desire is just rebooting to the htc screen. How do I get out of this?
Many thanks,
Joe

Hey, that's exactly the same issuing I'm experiencing now. Did you solve it? And if yes, how?
Well, a few hours later I solved it by restoring a backup and then booting went well. Also described in a thread on androidforums dot com (I can't enter the link here due to not having posted enough messages) .

I don't know if this helps, but I'm pretty sure nandroids are specific to which recovery they were created with, I read that somewhere a few days ago. If you did not have clockwork before, I would try getting the recovery you used to make the nand, install that recovery and then restore the nand. Then try the whole wipe everything and get clockwork and go to town. If you haven't tried RA/Darch 1.7 recovery, I would recommend it, I personally like it better than clockwork, it seems faster, and simpler to use.
Exactly What "Il Duce" Said Will Fix Your Problem, Same Exact Thing Happened To Me, What I Did Was Go Back To Previous Version Of Rom Manager Then Flash Alternate Recovery, AND Regular Clockwork Recovery, Should Be Good After That!

[RECOVERY] [Crespo] Official TWRP 2.8.x.x

If you want the Official TWRP Recovery (now compatible with KK) for your Nexus S just check this link, there will always be the latest TWRP recovery officially out.
For now the latest is: TWRP 2.8.7.0
LINK: https://dl.twrp.me/crespo/
How to flash this? (Recommended way)
- enter in fastboot mode
- plug to your pc
- open a command prompt at the path where fastboot.exe is located
- type: fastboot flash recovery (drag and drop .img file)
- when done, type: fastboot reboot
PS: You now have a custom recovery and you are rooted. Since 2.5.0.0, TWRP roots your phone for you. Just reboot to recovery, and reboot system, if you are not rooted it will prompt you to root, just slide to accept. Let it reboot ,go to the playstore and download SuperSU.
Or if u are rooted:
- download from the playstore: [ROOT]*Rashr - Flash Tool (Playstore) / [ROOT]*Rashr - The mobile Android Flash-Tool (XDA Thread)
- download the latest TWRP.img
- open the app
- select Flash Other Recovery Image
- browse to your downloads folder
- select the TWRP.img file you just downloaded
THANKS to:
Team Win Recovery Project for this awesome custom recovery.
@DsLNeXuS (XDA username) / Ashot Mkrtchyan for the FREE app.

Hi, I have a problem with a nandroid backup done with 2.3.1.0.
One backup done a week ago, works fine
Backup done today (successful restore) not work (stuck on boot, google and the lock)
Two question:
Is there a way to understand way stuck on boot?
If I restore /system from backup one (same rom) and /data from the last one is the same as full restore the last?
thanks

Just tried to restore a TWRP backup, said it was successful, reboot to system and all I get is "Fastboot Mode - No boot or recovery img"
I can still boot to recovery (TWRP)....
What should I do??
Here's what I did to fix: After restoring backup I wiped caches and installed ROM over the top. It is booting now. Thank goodness... I really didn't want to have to start over from scratch!!
Sucks that I can't rely on my nandroid backups though. Unless I am missing something.. This bug needs to be fixed!
not worth it, i reverted back to clockwork 5.8.0

Your data shouldn't get wiped. No harm in making a backup though, just in case anything goes wrong. You'll just have to reflash twrp once you're done. Just out of curiosity, what's the software number of the update you got?

just a quick word of caution, last time I flashed back a stock recovery (and accessed it, but didnt do anything in it), I was unpleasantly surprised that it wiped my entire internal storage

All the info needed to update is here http://www.htc1guru.com/2013/10/ota/
First flash the guru reset mentioned, then the OTA•
You could use titanium backup for all your apps and manually copy all the stuff from the internal sdcard to your pc. Making a nandroid won't really help, coz then you'll be restoring an older nandroid to a phone with a newer firmware, which doesn't work well. If you're completely stock right now, you could make a nandroid, and then after updating, if you want stuff to be like before, you could restore only your data partition. Works on Viper, not sure about stock.

I would
I use Titanium Backup Pro for that (there's also a free version), both require root though. if you need a solution without root, check out Helium; i've never tried it but it should also work.
for SMS and call logs, I use "SMS Backup & Restore" and "Call Logs Backup & Restore" by Ritesh Sahu, which work better than Titanium IMHO.
Then I put everything on my PC, and I'm good to go
Okay, maybe I confused you a bit here, lets do this step by step
1. Make a nandroid of your current rom(data partition) with twrp (make sure you copy this to your pc), backup all apps with titanium backup, copy all data from internal storage
2. Flash guru reset.
3. Flash OTA.
4. Flash twrp, get root
5. Make a nandroid of the new rom (just in case), and then restore only the "Data" partition from the nandroid backup. If it works, amazing. If not, restore all apps from titanium backup. Good luck

1. make a backup of all sd-card data
2. make a titanium backup of all apps
3. use Super Backup : SMS & Contacts to backup call logs, sms and contacts
4. make a nandroid backup of system
5. Flash the stock recovery

Why I'm suggesting that you download the guru reset is that it'll ensure that you're completely stock before the OTA. having a rooted rom with all of those tweaks that anyone will generally install can cause many complications, so just to keep the process straightforward, rather do it. Leave it to download overnight By "nandroid backup of system", do you mean a complete backup or only of the system partition? Because, you need to make a backup of your data partition, not system. A complete backup will also do.

this HTC one is only rooted and also has a custom recovery, others suggested only flashing stock recovery will do everything, without having a mess. and yes i have made a complete nandroid backup..

Try with version 2.6.3.0 or 2.6.3.3, some of the older ones don't allow copying of backups because of some form of encryption

I know that's what I thought too, here's exactly what I did and where I was:
1- I just wanted to take a screenshot of stock recovery, and was on ARHD 13.3 with CWM
2- flashed stock recovery (the usual way)
3- took pictures (attached)
4- flashed back the same CWM
5- rebooted, and it hit me with the setup wizard, skipped it, and boom, NOTHING on the phone except the ROM
6- i didnt wipe anything except the "fastboot erase cache"
wonder why it happened

[Q] Lost CWM Recovery

I have been rooted and using CM 10 for a few days now. Wanted to try a new ROM, so made a nandroid backup, wiped data/cache/system all that good stuff, flashed the zip.
Then my phone rebooted into the bootloaded... and nothing. Tried to select Recovery, had a screen say Entering Recovery, and then was back to the bootloader.
Hooked my One up to the computer, thinking I somehow lost CWM. Used Fastboot to flash CWM, and it showed a success, but I still cannot get into CWM to restore any backup.
I really don't want to use a RUU, is there any fix for this?
Thanks a million for any help.
EDIT: I still do show as being Unlocked.

Was the ROM you tried from the international forum? If so you may have flashed a non compatible ROM, or chosen wrong phone model in aroma. In that case the only solution would be http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460013

No I made sure it was a wls ROM. Thanks for that link though I will definitely try that.

[Q] 4.4.2 CM11, return to all stock?

I have an HTC One on sprint, running a CM11 nightly. While I liked it for a while, due to business aspects, I need to go back to iphone. I am just gonna trade someone I know for my HTC for their iphone. I guess what i was wondering is what is the process of returning it back to stock? They still want root access, just not a custom ROM. I'm S-ON, HBOOT 1.56.000, Radio, 1.00.20.1100, and OS 4.06.651.4.
I'd like a step by step process hopefully (not an expert on androids, more used to iphones). But i do have some experience with cmd. I was also wondering if I turn it back to stock, will i lose all of my data (contacts, photos, etc.) I know you lose apps, but when I flashed to CM11, I backed up with TWRP, and then had to use CWM, so i couldn't restore my contacts. I do have a backup of my original ROM before i went to CM11 in TWRP, but I had to flash to CWM, so I'm not sure if it's still there.
Also, if they wanted to keep the CM11 on it, would there be any problems switching phone numbers and whatnot on it? I'd assume not because it still has an IMEI, but just wanted to make sure.
Find a flashable zip of twrp and if you didn't delete it ur backup of ur stock rooted should work...u have to have Sprint base Rom to swap phones so NO cm11 will not work when you go to trade phones

I tried to reflash twrp. It wouldnt work. it wouldnt recognize touches.
So if I want it all stock, except for root, can I use an RUU? I know it wipes everything, but better than nothing. plus i could sync with htc manager and get everything i had back.

what version of twrp did you flash, should be 2.6.3.0 or higher. thus the touch problems, you don't need to ruu.(openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7wls.img)

I used that originally i believe. So if I re-flash my recovery to twrp, I can restore from my back up, even if I was rooted? and would i still have CM11, or stock sense?

yep, you'll still have the same rom after flashing recovery til you restore a previous backup, you can back up cm 11 too.

I tried using the twrp manager from the play store but it says I'm not supported. 2.7.0.0 is the latest. It shows the backup i have though. Does anyone know where I can download it from and flash it onto my phone?

tried to no avail. I tried and it was stuck on HTC logo for 15 minutes. I reflashed to CM11, and im downloading the RUU now to completely wipe/restore it. Unless i did something wrong? I erased cache using adb, then booted up, restored my stuff, and it said successful, but it was on the htc logo. I tried again to the same thing. then i reflashed cm11 and it worked. did i forget to do a factory reset before i restored everything? it said it wiped stuff before it restored it.

after you erased cache did you flash recovery, then reboot recovery and restore a backup
when you are on the htc logo hold the power button down til it reboots and see if it goes past the htc screen
you don't have to factory reset to restore a rom just hit restore and select the backup

I flashed recovery, then erased cache, then rebooted to recovery, and restored a backup. when it said successful, i rebooted from there, and it vibrated on bootup, but stayed at the htc screen for a while. I held the power button and rebooted. same thing.

I'm gonna try an RUU. I'm downloading the latest one right now (4.06.651.4 i believe). I'll let you know how it works out. since i'm S-ON, all i need to do is relock boot loader and then run the RUU correct?
