Well, according to Xperia Update Checker by Macmol, your device is Movistar Colombia and here is the problem, because it's still with 9.1.A.1.140 firmware.
Check by yourself with this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608983

Sure you can
9.2.A.1.210 is better because it's the last.
If you flash with Flashtool you can't root, because there's not a direct method yet.
The only way to keep root, is flashing a pre-rooted 9.2.A.1.210 via recovery.
FTF files for Flashtool are in General section, instead ZIP files for recovery are in Development section.
Good luck

1) Install recovery
Download here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319202175
Take your phone, go to settings, developer options, turn on and select USB debugging.
Connect the phone to PC now.
Unpack CWM4XperiaT_v8i_JB.zip
Run install.bat/install.sh
Follow the instructions, remember that your device is V, keep an eye on the display of the phone and give root permission when asked.
After the end of the process, enter into recovery like this: turn off the phone and turn on.
Immediately, try one of this combination:
Press repeatedly (not holding) power button until the phone vibrates
OR
Tap repeatedly the screen
2) Once you're in recovery, make a BACKUP.
So if something will go wrong or simply if you want to go back to 4.1.2 because you don't like 4.3, you will be able to return to the present situation just resuming this backup.
3) Install .210
Remember that you will lose all your data and apps. Instead what is inside internal memory and SD card is SAFE (backup included)
Download and install Flashtool
Download THIS and move it into the directory C:/Flashtool/firmwares
Download .210 zip file HERE and copy it into the internal memory of your phone.
Turn off and go into recovery.
Make a wipe data/factory reset.
Then install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, select .210 zip file.
When it's done, select POWER OFF (be careful, DO NOT select reboot).
Open Flashtool, click on the lightning symbol ("flash device"), select "Flashmode" and click on "OK"
Now select LT25_9.2.A.1.210_1268-6904_FIX4.3 and click on "Flash"
Wait for a window to pop up
Now take your phone, push the volume-down button, keep pushing and connect to your PC
Once the flashing process has started, release the volume rocker as soon as possible
NEVER disconnect the USB cable until it's finished!!!
Turn on and enjoy! :good:
Remember to hit THANKS to steveboss HERE for creating .210 already rooted

1) If you want to keep root you must download LT25i.210_nor_deodex_root_philz_v1.zip that I linked above, since it's already rooted.
2) When you flash zip via recovery you don't touch the old kernel. You flash only the new system. After that, you need to flash the new kernel, so you need Flashtool with LT25_9.2.A.1.210_1268-6904_FIX4.3
3) When you switch from an Android version to another, a full wipe is always recommended. A partial wiping could give strange behaviours.
Therefore it's better a fresh installation of the app and then (when possible) a resume of the backup offered by the app: for example I'm quite sure that Whatsapp has a backup option within its settings. Use THAT option if possible with any app. Right?

Wipe cache is already included into factory reset.
Wipe dalvik cache is not mandatory in this case... do it if you want
Anyway all wipes will be repeated by Flashtool, so don't worry about that.
In Flashtool you have to change NOTHING, since yours is a brand new installation. Just flash.

works with lock bootloader ?

LOL... I'm not so noob.
Yes my method is for locked bootloader.
Unlocked bootloaders have to flash another kind of kernel.
The kernel you're installing is the original one.
And no, you can't unlock an Xperia V through Flashtool. It's impossible at the moment.
The only way to unlock is getting a code through Sony site!!!
This rule is valid for all 2012 devices onwards.
You're too anxious

Unlocking is mandatory for new Xperia that can't be rooted directly, because they are too new and they've been released with 4.3 or 4.4
We don't have this problem because we have 4.1.2 that is easy rootable, so we can install recovery and do everything we want

During the process does your phone ask for root permission? Do you tap on yes?

Just unlock the freakin bootloader already like i did last night. and use flashtool 9.11 instead of 9.13 for some reason it keeps installing the wrong driver for the phone which results in a header error.

I don't know if you know that the v.9.11 is not recommended with Z1 and you risk to brick your phone. Unlocking Bootloader is needed for Custom Kernel only and if you do that you will lose Warranty and some features. Just follow the Video and you will be fine. BTW, windows installed the drivers for me and all was fine.

The finally way to get full Root was:
Downgrade to .134 (NUT's provide) Root and Install the last XZDual Recovery (NUT provide)
In TWRP Flash iHakers 2.1 (minimal) Before boot to system, Flash Lastest XZDual Recovery (NUT provide) and flash lastest Supersu Zip Flashable (Chainfire provide)
Boot to system and restore all my apps with TB open each and every one app that needs root to get it (root)
Go back to TWRP and Now Flash .136 (NUT provide) With only wipe cache and dalvik cache (this is important because is the only way that a could gets the root in .136) Flash again last Supersu.zip flashable.
Turn off my phone And flash the properly stripped.ftf provided by NUT, turn on my phone and get full root.
(in other ways only gets partialy root)
In the NUT thread some people have same problem like mine (Even NUT comment it)
Sorry my english, to bad

In Flashtool uncheck "Wipe Data". In PC Companion use Backup & Restore, Update and if you lost something Restore with PC Companion.
Guys i got the phone recently, i unlocked my bootloader yesterday and i am on 136 now... I dont want to bother with downgrading and so on but i don't have root nor recovery... can't i just flash something rooted with flashtool so that afterwards i'll be able to just flash through recovery on the phone?
I moved from an Xperia S and none of these issues existed there...
Thank you in advance.
Oh nevermind gentlemen, thanks for the help
I Solved the issue by simply installing Ihackers advanced kernel.img trough Flashtool with the fastboot method... Pretty simple it got me an instant recovery and trough it i rooted and then installed SuperSU from the playstore... I finally understood the general concept...
P.S. I am with an unlocked bootloader so thats why i managed to install the kernel...

Which needs unlocked bootloader, correct?
Which additional drivers need to be installed?
Is there a way to downgrade with locked bootloader? I am actually ok with the function of .199 but not with it's tons of bloat, and no way to install certain apps. No root is almost like having no sex ever.

Of course yes, flashtool is both for locked and unlocked bootloaders! The drivers I always install is something called "Gordon Gate driver", the FlashTool itself and this is enough for the phone to be recognized while plugging. Be sure to plug in the phone one time in flash mode before the final flashing so that the PC recognizes it and installs drivers, after that unplug it for a while and turn it off again because it will probably turn on, it always happens in my case when I plug the phone for the first time after f.e. installing a brand new OS and not every drivers are installed. Then run FlashTool and you can start the magic!
But, you can always disable certain apps in Settings>Apps>All. You will be actually freezing them (just like with titanium backup) but it's pretty useful. Aaaaand there are two ways of flashing recovery on locked bootloaders so that you can i.e. flash SuperSU .zip file with the app and appropriate binaries (you can find it on its dedicated thread here on XDA), that's what I'm always doing.
My phone is T. Xperia T.

Ok, I have still a notebook somewhere in the corner running XP. I'll see what this one can do. If I can downgrade to 4.12, then I can rrooooot that one. At least I would not feel so naked and vulnerable anymore.
Can Flashtool make a mirror or image of the current ROM?
And thanks bunches for your helpful answer!
Here are the rough steps to downgrade:
- use a PC which runs Windump XP or 7
- install Flashtool
- install drivers (in the Flashtool drivers folder)
- download a 4.12 FTF of your choice. Nordic and Singapore seem pretty good.
- switch phone to USB debugging
- open Flashtool, click on the flash symbol and chose flashmode, follow the instructions, don't disable any of the flashing options
- after successful installation root with DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v17_perf-event-exploit
- after successful rooting update SuperSu
- install recovery CWM4XperiaT_v8i_JB
From here you can install a rooted 4.3 if you can live with it's shortcomings, or any 4.2. I choose Pure-X-Blaster 4.2.2.

[GUIDE][HOW-TO][T/TX/V]Root Guide On Android 4.3 For Locked Bootloaders

IMPORTANT:
This method is now obsolete and not needed, we are able to root directly onto 4.3 now thanks to geohot, please see towelroot thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
OLD METHOD:
I see many threads about rooting Android 4.3, especially with locked bootloaders, along with many users getting confused about it so decided to make this guide on how to get root on your Android 4.3 device
Unfortunately there is no method to root directly on the Xperia T/TL/TX/V with Android 4.3, we must downgrade first!
Step 1, Getting flashtool installed:
You need to download flashtool and install the latest drivers, this can all be found here and here
Step 2, Getting your device running Android 4.1.2 which is rootable!:
You need to download a 4.1.2 FTF file, I recommend using this one if you are an Xperia T user,
Use this one if you are an Xperia V user.
Use this one if you are an Xperia TX user
although any will do as long as has a build number earlier than 9.1.A.1.141
Next what you need to do is open up flashtool which you installed in Step 1. Next click on the lightning bolt button which is the flash button, flashmode should be selected by default, click OK!
Now you are in the firmware selection area, navigate to where you downloaded the FTF file using the browse button in the top right.
Select the correct firmware, then click OK!
It'll process a bit, then will tell you to connect your device, firstly put your cable into the computer/laptop first, then hold down the volume down button on your device and connect the micro USB part to the device.
If all goes well it will start flashing, finish and tell you to restart the phone, the process could easily take 15 minutes, so be patient.
Step 3, Lets root the device:
Try rooting with the root option within FlashTool
Should that not work try this:
You want to download bin4rys rooting toolkit, which is found here and here
This part you will be walked through in the command prompt of the toolkit, it will tell you what to do and when, it is very simple!
Step 4, Now we're rooted, we want a recovery:
Now we need to get CWM recovery for locked bootloaders installed!
Download CWM installer here
Next extract the folder to somewhere on your computer, connect your phone to the computer, remember to allow unknown sources to be installed and to allow usb debugging, these can be found in 'security' and 'developer options' respectively.
Once done, double click on 'install.bat' and let the installer do it's magic.
If you have issues with this step, take a look at the 'Unable to enter recovery' section in the CWM for locked bootloaders thread here
Step 5, Download a rooted 4.3 update:
If you are an Xperia T user download from here
If you are an Xperia V user download from here
If you are an Xperia TX user download from here
Now transfer the package to the SD card on your device.
Next you want to power off your device, once that is done power back on, when you hit the first vibrate you should see a blue led, start repeatedly pressing the volume up button, the led should turn green and you will enter into CWM recovery.
RECOMMENDED: Now you are in recovery you should do a complete wipe data/factory reset, now this can be skipped but if it leads to errors and problems then you may need to go back to step 1, you have been warned!
Head to install zip from SD card and locate to where you downloaded the file, then flash the file!
Step 6, Enjoy:
You should now be all up to date with Android 4.3 and have root access, feel free to comment and ask questions in the thread if you are having problems or things didn't work as they should.
You also now should have PhilZ Touch Recovery installed which will allow you to install mods, make backups etc. To enter it is the exact same procedure as for CWM earlier on!

It will now that you have a 4.3 rooted update in the dev section
No, CWM must be used to get up to 4.3

Fair enough, if it works for some people they can go this method. OTA updates with root isn't fool proof though so some users may find they loose it.
This is also more for people who have already OTA updated and don't have root

If you are on 4.1.2 then you can root and backup your data with Titanium Backup, If you're already on 4.3 and have to downgrade then you will have to wipe, otherwise you can get into problems

[Q] A noob in need of help..

Hello everyone,
I am new here and I'm having really hard time going around the forums and searching for what I seek and everything is so confusing and I really need someone's help. I've never done this and it terrifies me to screw up my phone. Here's the deal, I want to root my Sony Xperia Z so I can remove the useless built in apps and maybe get a cool theme. I've been looking for threads but there are so many and I don't know which one to take, most talk about some firmware I don't even know what that is but I looked a bit on the internet and found out which is so here are my phone specs:
Sony Xperia Z
C6603
4.3 Jelly Bean
Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
Firmware thing: 10.4.B.0.569
Any help would be appreciated, thank you so much.
Wrong section buddy. Should be in the q and a section and you can actually ask in the help thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345372
I would love to answer your question but I'm on my phone, very limited on what I can do atm.

Welcome to xda where everyone starts off as a noob
Don't worry we all make mistakes hopefully a moderator will move it in the right place.
Now to answer your questions
a) A firmware is the software installed on your device you have got it right in your specs.
b) The method of rooting depends on the firmware. The firmware you have does not allow easy rooting.
You have two options since your bootloader can be unlocked
1) Backup your ta partition using the backup utility and store it on your computer. Unlock your bootloader and root your device by following the guide posted by cookie ninja in the xperia z
android development section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2656698
[GUIDE][ROOT] How to Root 101 Firmware and regain LB
2) Downgrade your firmware to android 4.2.2 by flashing an FTF file using flashtool (you can find these in the development section as well) and then root using doomlords rooting toolkit. You can then upgrade to even android 4.4 by flashing any of the pre rooted roms from the development section.
All the best.

Hi
Welcome to xda
First you cant root 4.3 only if unlock bootloader and the unlock not hard but better try downgrade to 4.2.2:
Download a software called flashtool from here and install it then after install finish go to the place where you install flashtool and find folder called DRIVERS open it and you will find an exe file open it and select xperia z- flashmode drivers - fastboot drivers then install
Get an FTF file for flashtool like that
After the ftf download finish put the ftf file in "frimware" folder in the place you installed flashtool
Open flashtool then click the lighning icon
Select your downloaded FTF
After few minutes you will see screen appear says WAITING FOR FLASH MODE
Turn off you phone
Hold the volume down button then connect your phone with your pc with usb cable
After few minutes you will see your phone downgradedto 4.2.2
THIS WILL DELETE ALL YOU APPS AND DATA IN YOUR PHONE!!! So better make backup!!.the phone must charged to 80%
Now root your device with kingo root this tool not working on 4.3 that why i said must DOWNGRADE
Install CWM and TWRP recovery here
After finish get a PREROOTED ROM like this
Flash it in recovery
Now we finished
Other notes: the flashtool and FTF can repair your phone if bricked so dont panic if that happened just use the lighting icon:angel:
Hit thanks if helped

Sony smartphones are nearly impossible to hard brick, unless you restored a wrong bootloader TA partition.(the one not from your own device)
The worst case scenario which you can get is total wipeout of every data you have on your phone, so always make a backup of things you need before doing anything.
The things you will need:
1.Basic computer skills
2.Knowing the bootloader of your phone
3.Knowing how to use custom recovery (cwm or twrp)
4.Knowing how to use flashtool
5.Keep a backup of firmware files (ftf) in case anything happen
6.Always check the forum in case the old backup of something of yours won't work in your phone after you updated
Thank you guys, you're all wonderful.

If you want stock unmodded one you can do it without root. And if you want a rooted with dual recovery you will need root
But I advise you not to use stock kitkat because its lags alot and low battery life
Try those if you want:
Stock no root needed ( flash via flashtool)
Modded and fast with Root and recoveryROOT NEEDED
Thanks!

I made the mistake of unlocking my bootloader without making a backup of my TA, so make sure you don't make the same mistake. Not an issue really unless you REALLY want OTA updates.

Xperia Z3- How Do I Downgrade to KitKat 23.0.A.2.98 So I can Get Root?

Could not downgrade to get root
Hi all,
I'm a very big fan of this community, but only to read and learn. But now I need your help...
History: rooted my phone few months ago in the way told in this post. Everything went well, but last week my screen broke. Sony fixed it but also put latest software on it... and removed root.
Today I tried to downgrade to KitKat 23.0.A.2.98 again (stil had the FTF) to get root again, so I can put back my Nandroid backup. I didn't manage to get it working... after restarting after flashing when the blue screen appears before you are asked to unlock your SIM... my phone makes a pitching noise for 10 seconds and then reboots again. The process repeats itself again and again.
Fortunately I can flash the latest firmware back and my phone works again... thank God because a thought for a moment I soft bricked my phone.
Anyone a solution to get root? I'm now on LP 5.1.1
thnx!!!!
ciao
Valentijm
How did you downgrade? The normal way... means: using flashtool (latest version) and which settings did you use for flashing? ...and did you try downloading a different version and flashing it?

Hi Tom, yes I did it the normal way... latest flashtool and settings the same as before, so I checked no boxes. After that didnýtwork I tried something different, so checked all wipe options. I also tried a different version and flashed that via the normal way. That didn't work either... the only flash that worked so far was 23.4.A.0.546 / R7C. But that's way to new to get root via downgrading
So the flashing process did always work without problems? But the result is always as you described?
And if it's only about root... did you try Kingroot? Afaik it is supposed to work on almost all versions.
Another thing: I don't remember all options by heart (and can't check them atm)... but maybe try some of the provided options.

It's more that when I reboot after having flashed back to earlier FW my phone bootloops... so I don't even get a chance to continue and root. Very annoying!
My next move is to find another old stock FTF (probably not a Dutch one) and will try to flash that one with different boxes checked.
When I'm back home I can check for the one that I used (quite recently) when relocking BL and rooting etc. If I don't find the source anymore, I can maybe upload it for you.
Ok... so this was the version that I used... to downgrade and root:
D5803_23.0.A.2.93_Generic_GLOBAL_1286-9917.ftf
try this link maybe:
https://mega.nz/#!f5pXVAIZ!nWmaFU9d5ux6FOUI6Kdv3GK8RObswoZzxRwpQVEvpxo
There's an easy way to get Root on 5.1.1 without having to downgrade back to kitkat
- Unlock your bootloader on Sony's Website
- Search for a custom kernel here that is for 5.1.1 ( e.g. Androplus, etc )
- Boot into fastboot mode in Flashtool and flash the kernel
- You now get recovery because the kernel comes with a custom recovery
- Flash SuperSu's latest Zip file to get root
- Enjoy

Maybe be careful when recommending that without mentioning, that he would loose his DRM keys in that process... so I would always add the comment, that he should have a backup before unlocking. Or at least mention the loss of the DRM keys as a warning.
