[Q] Xperia Z1 PS3 Controller Issues - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all
When I first purchased my z1 it connected to my ps3 controller through OTG cable and then paired with bluetooth fine
I have now unlocked bootloader and is running a genuine Xperia global version of android (had previously a carrier based android)
Now however when I connect my controller to my phone it will go on, off, on, off quickly as if there isnt a strong enough connection (have used both genuine and non-genuine cables but still no avail)
What could of changed for it not to now work? Since its native and I haven't changed any core settings in the phone.
Thanks!

No go? =/ must I be the only one with the issue then?

[Q] Wii U Pro Controller + Lolipop 5.0.1?

Good morning/afternoon/evening all,
For the last several hours, I've been trying to pair my Wii U Pro controller to my phone and I've tried all (including that bluetooth fix app that was all in Japanese) and nothing seems to work. I even tried the regular Wii controller app just to be sure.
I've actually contacted Nintendo and the device was not actually given a PIN to use on devices, just the Wii U.
So my question is:
Is there any way to pair the device without the PIN? The phone recognizes it instantly, however obviously no PIN combination works.
Specs of Phone:
Note 4 [Canadian] Rooted
TEKXodus N4
Bluetooth works fine with regular devices (with PIN)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone successfully connected an xBox or PS3 controller to the S2?

I'm trying to get either an xBox 360 or a PS3 controller connected to my S2 but so far have been spectacularly unsuccessful. Has anybody managed to do it without rooting the device or flashing a new rom?
I've tried both, connected through an OTG cable that I know works because I can use both a flash drive and a wired mouse with it.
I'd rather not root it, it's still under warranty and I don't want to lose that and I definitely don't want to flash a different rom. I like it as it is.
One thread I found implied that the Sixaxis app would allow me to connect the PS3 controller by using the USB cable I have for charging it but I've found this not to be the case. It just tells me that it can't find the controller on Bluetooth and doesn't even seem to look for a wired one.
Searching has shown me that the controllers can be connected to other tablets but I'm yet to find anyone who has done it with the S2.
Please can anyone help? I'd love to be able to play games on my tablet without using the on screen controls which I find very awkward.
I should say that my S2 is an SM-T713
You would definitely need a keymapper, I'd say. Unless the game in question nativity supports a gamepad/controller.
Did you check the Nvidia Shield Tablet threads?
I think they came up with a *no root* solution, which should be applicable for all sorts of Android devices.
Thanks, I'll have a look
I was in a similar boat to you a few week ago on my stock T715:-
-Xbox 360 Bluetooth, no connection
-PS3 Bluetooth, no connection
-Xbox 360 Wired/OTG, no connection
-PS3 Wired/OTG, connection but sometimes with calibration issues
I went to a shop in the UK called CeX and asked for a Bluetooth controller. They had a used Gamesir S3 for £15 which is cheaper than a wired PS3 controller. The Gamesir is excellent, it's connected every single time. They supply a micro USB to micro USB cable so you have the choice of wired or Bluetooth. Both work flawlessly without any calibration issues.
Best £15 I've spent this year. :victory:
Fail.
I can recommend gamesir s3 too. It also came with a clip that you can use for your phone.

Android Auto & Bluetooth with Phone & Audio Apps

I have a new Pixel2XL and am frustrated trying to make Android Auto work. All was fine with Apple Carplay and my iPhone 6s (this is actually my 2nd Pixel2XL as I went back for the 128GB model when the $300 sale came along after I'd purchased the 64GB).
Anyway, bluetooth isn't working well. And I'm being told this is a long-known issue with Android that Google is still "working on". Since it's happened with both phones, it's either Android 8.x or a long-running, unresolved issue.
I'd like to disable bluetooth, but I'm being told that's how the Phone works in the car. Can the phone be moved to the USB cable?
One other question, when connected by USB cable, are non-AA compatible audio apps using bluetooth or the cable?
Thanks.

No, as far as I know you have to have Bluetooth & USB cable connected for AA to work properly. Ref

Don't know about your second question, but on my car non AA apps don't work when AA is active.
That's been my experience, yes. I'm having bluetooth issues regardless. So depending on it in the car is frustrating and even dangerous if I try to disconnect/restart/etc. while driving.
But I did just receive the 8.1.0 update and I'll be in and out of the car today. So, crossing my fingers that something will work better!
Thanks for the reply!

Sony XAV AX 100 start android auto with bluetooth

Hello, I have searched the forum for this topic and I have not found anything related. I've been reading you for several weeks and today I decided to register.
A month ago I bought the Sony XAV AX 100 radio and I am delighted with it. But I can't make Android Auto work with bluetooth, without cable. I have a Samsung S8 and, in the Android Auto app I have checked the option to start by bluetooth automatically but it does not start when I connect the phone to the radio. Can anybody help me? I think it is Sony XAV AX 100 problem that should not support android car with bluetooth, only with cable.
Thank you very much and greetings.

That headunit doesn't support Android Auto wireless (which uses Wi-Fi). AA will only work if your phone is connected via USB.
You could connect the phone via Bluetooth only and play music and/or use handsfree telephone. But not AA.
Android Auto, because it uses the GPS, is a battery suck. I'm not saying that's a problem, it's just a fact. You would want to plug your phone into power while using AA anyway.
I use NetDot Gen10 magnetic USB cables, and it makes it more convenient, especially since I use both AA and CarPlay.

That's inaccurate. If the headunit has GPS, Google Maps when running via AA will use that instead of the phone's GPS. I've heard that Google requires AA wireless HUs to have a GPS, but can't point to anything authoritative to back that up. All the units I've seen which support AA wireless (JVC/Kenwood and Pioneer) include GPS receivers.

Android Auto has never worked on Rog Phone 3 Tencent

Hi all
Since I got my Rog Phone 3 Tencent edition I have never been able to get Android Auto to work on my car. Firstly, my car has Android Auto, it works with every other brand of phone so I know its not the car.
When I connect phone to car by cable (tried many many cables) it says failed to connect to device, the USB Debugging is always stuck on no action. Even changing this to File Transfer or other options nothing works.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Colm
