[Q] BEGINNER: How to Convert Kindle to Android - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I'm sure this has been posted may times but the amount of posts on here is confusing so just need directing to the right place.
I have the Kindle Fire HD running 7.4.8. I bought it for my wife's birthday last year but did not realise how limited it is.. If I could convert it to an android operating system it would be wonderful.
Please can someone guide me to the correct upto date link showing me clear instructions (or video) how to do this for the 7.4.8. I've never done something like this before so hoping for a beginners level guide..
Your help is much appreciated.
Regards,
David.

Q&A for Help please...( New to Kindle), i want to install Android OS...
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Help please...( New to Kindle), i want to install Android OS.... If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

I just picked up a Kindle Fire HD 7" 2nd gen I believe. It shows 12.2GB in storage model number x43z60, I want to put Android OS on it. Ive never done this before, and i see ALOT of info on here about it. Basically, im sure there is already a thread that will tell me everything i need with download resources.... just asking, can someone direct me to a link, with everything i will need to do this without a Boot cable, and include a stable version of the Android OS, something in the 4.x series.
I dont care if its the stock rom, or a custom rom, prefer a debloated custom rom made to run great, without any bugs or so.... Im confused by everything going on, its alot to take in when your not up to date on whats been going on. Thanks everyone!

Follow Hashtag's tutorial stickied above; make reference to Seokhun's tutorial for getting into fastboot mode without a fastboot cable. Hashtag's tutorial takes you from stock Amazon Fire to Cyanogenmod 11 based on Android Kit-Kat.

My thread got moved, can you send me a link to the correct place? I am confused about Kindle, I dont know for sure what model i have no because of something someone said. Can anyone help verify this:
I just picked up what i THINK is a: Kindle Fire HD 7" 2nd gen. It shows 12.2GB in storage, and when i
Pull down the notification bar and hit> More>Device>About - This is what it says:
"System Version : Current Version 7.5.1_user_51700200
Serial Number: D025 A0A0 2356 05LS
Wifi MAC address: [BLANK]
Bluetooth MAC address: [BLANK]"
-and-
It has "MODEL No. X43Z60" written on the back in the bottom center under the Amazon logo. I did research and believe its the Kindle Fire HD 7" 2nd Generation.
Is that correct?

How to turn Fire 7" into an android tablet?

Hello guys, i've just ordered a Fire 7" and i intend to use it mainly as an android tablet. So i noticed how much the original device is filled with stuff i won't be using, so i wanna get rid of all that.
How do i go on about rooting the device exactly? I'd really apreciate it if someone point me to the right way. I've tried looking it up but i get confused everytime because of all the information that's been posted here. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, i saw the index page earlier, although i don't know what i should do because as i mentioned above, there are a lot of tutorials in there. Could you list the steps to turn the Fire 7" into an android tablet please? I'll find the tutorials later myself. Thanks again.

This may help you. If you want to get rid of the Fire OS you would need to root your fire then install flash fire and finally flash a custom rom like CM 12.1 or Slim ROM. BTW Root Junky has tons of videos on the Fire.

After viewing videos be sure to revisit the forums, especially the ROM OP and associated thread, for the most current recommendations. Details and options change over time. RootJunky's videos are truly excellent but reflect the best thinking at a specific point in time and should be used as a visual reference versus a step-by-step prescription followed to the letter.

Kindle Fire HD 5.1.2 Noobie questions...

Hi Guys,
I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and a bit confused if honest with the amount of info and articles on this site.
I am a noob to this forum and would like to root my Kindle Fire HD running 5.1.2 and get the Google play store etc running on it. I am also considering putting the CyanogenMod on it as well if that goes well.
I have read quite a few of the articles and have a few questions before giving it a go.
How do you stop the OTA updates while trying to root it (using Kingroot)? Worried about it auto updating to the latest software 5.3.2.1 I think which is not currently modifiable.
Is there an up to date root guide? A lot of them seem quite old now. Am worried about bricking the device. Root Junky has seemingly a good guide. Is this the way to go for a first time try?
What is the recommended CyanogenMod rom version to try now? Or as the project is dead should I bother and look for a different operating system?
Thanks for your help much appreciated.

It has been a while since I've done anything like this. I haven't found a guide on it. If anyone knows of a guide or is willing to help. I have a 7th Gen Fire 7 and want to put a better rom on it so I can access more apps and games on it. I installed google play on it but some apps and games still won't show up for download. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
