[Q] Location not found CM11 & pa_gapps_20140524 - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have read (and experienced) the failure of location issues with pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.2-20140524. Do we have any solutions to the issues? I am hoping someone has a solution which I have missed.

I'm currently on Milaq's latest and have also had problems, here is what I've done :
Installed PA micro Gapps so that map's isn't a system app. Then disabled automatic update in Google play and installed this version of maps https://app.box.com/s/xepi3tqyu06bc01l8q6y which works after that I manually updated on play which has worked. If it doesn't just uninstall the latest version and revert back to the one you dl from the box link.
I hope this helps.

Works, kind of.
Thank you, the apk you linked to works.
Unfortunately, manual update breaks it again. I can restore to the downloaded apk, no problem.
I still have problems with location(even with the linked apk) for other applications(weather, etc.) not getting location.
I am guessing this has something to do with 4.4.2 builds and their interaction with Google.

Sorry that didn't work for , you could make a backup of your current install and then see if Milaq's latest works for you as jcsullins rom I believe is based on Milaq's. That's what I ended up doing and am really pleased with it.
All the best and good luck.

Google Voice working installer

Hi all,
Many of us, including myself, have encountered trouble with the newest version of Google Voice.
For me, it wouldn't download my inbox, I got fed up and restored a version I backed up just in case it didn't work.
I have uploaded that apk in this thread for others to use.
LEGALITY
I reviewed the XDA rules and Google Voice Legal information before posting this. This information can be found in the Google Voice app, under 'About'. I could find nothing telling me I can't redistribute previous and working versions. If anyone discovers it is indeed illegal or not allowed, let me know and this will be taken down. I do not want another cease and desist fiasco.
With that said, here is the Google Voice 0.2 apk. Once you unzip it from the zip file, you can install it from any file manager app.
Cheers
Thanks.. I'm back in business w/o digging for the old version. Ya wtf is up with the new version
Not a clue... what firmware are you running?
On my CyanogenMod 4.2.1 it wasn't working. I wonder if it's universal or -just- not working for CM or whatever version(s).
4.2.1.
I uninstalled its dir on the sdcard... reinstalled... nothing.
Old version put me back in business
Can anyone confirm if it's working on non-CM firmware?
Maybe even stock firmware...?
Either way, here is a mirror uploaded by bluecluenj:

Several people have reported that rolling back to the prior version solves the issue. Does anyone have the prior version of Google Voice laying around?

Well that just about makes this thread obsolete
Good thing we have a *fix* instead of just a temporary replacement apk.

Google Maps 4.1

I just picked up 4.1 from the market on my G1. For some reason it kept force closing and saying I was 70000meters away from where I am. I even uninstalled it and rebooted. What I ended up doing was running RA recovery, entering the utility area and then using the experimental permissions fix.
Walla it runs smooth and seems to load up pretty fast. I'm on my phone and on the run. Just wanted to let others know that it does work despite all the rambling in the comments on the market.
It worked for me too, not much of an improvement if you ask me....
FC all the time and a lot slower than the old one (I'm using CM4.2.15.1)
It works great for me. I have no idea what everyone else is complaining about.
Agreed works well for me too i'm on CM 4.2.15.
It actually seems faster than before as far as scrolling around the map
Could someone post a link to the apk?

Pulled off my phone after updating: Maps 4.1
Does this one have international navigation enabled or is it just the plain version?
plain ver. no international nav.
Shame
Don't suppose you know where there's a tutorial on how to edit the maps to add these features in like Brut does?
(Still looking for one but no luck yet)
just wait for brut to release it.

Thanks. Works fine on Dwang 1.17.1
Did anyone else get another update today? The Market said there was an update available, even though I already had 4.1.0 and the new version was also identified as 4.1.0. Strange.

yes I got this too, it crashes my phone
Yup, tried it 3-4 times and it completely resets the phone.
Had this too. Logcat said that the package manager crashed with an uncaught exception and the phone will therefore reboot.
I solved the problem by uninstalling + re-installing Maps instead of updating directly.
how do you reinstall it?
uninstall. install.
where do you go to install it?
sorry i'm new to this phone

Installed and working fine except Google+ app and some others that doesn't work during Google Service Framework incompatible. Will it be fixed soon? and what about a working rom over Android 2.3.7 for this device? i mean full working.

Download the apk, install it. Avoid play store, it's going pointless crap errors. As for the second part. I heard that Broadcomm released some drivers, so there is a chance, but I might be wrong, or even if I'm not, it can take quite some time to start working with them.

Google phone/dialer app for Moto G5+

Hi,
i am perfectly fine with stock ROM and only one thing i would like to have beside. And it is Google phone app with capability to do search nearby places right from the phone app and the capability to see who actually calling behind unknown number.
I see some apks on apkmirror, but latest nonnexus apk is from 2016. So i rather ask here first. Do you guys tried this app and can confirm it has all the features i would like to have? Is it possible to have this app on our phone?
Do you have link to app for our device?
Thank you

I pulled this from OpenGapps. Flash the following Google dialer framework in TWRP and install it from the playstore... All the features work for me.

Possible operator error. Also, this isn't designed for Oreo to begin with.

How is it possible user error if it wasn't designed for Oreo? you never mentioned what os it was meant for. In any case, it did not, in fact, work for Oreo. However I did successfully use it for 7. Thanks for your work.

At first, I was saying it's an operator error because it does work. Of course it doesn't work for Oreo it clearly states the date when I pulled the framework in May. The OP was asking to use an updated dialer in stock. I provided him the framework with the ability to do so.... I wouldn't specify why because I was answering the OP.

same procedure as non rooted devices, Install as normal apk
I can confirm that it works on Moto G5 Plus (Sanders), stock rom, rooted with Magisk. Installed the dialer framework from the post by @atrac17 above, then phone apk (v.11) from here. (Play Market installation was still showing as unavailable for my device.) Then all I needed to do was to change the default phone app to google phone rather than Moto. Thanks for your help, guys. Couldn't figure it out by myself.
So freaking annoying we have to do this!.. Why on earth do we need Moto's dialer?!

mokee rom 9.0! what's working and not? is it fast and stable?

is it faster and stable for daily driver?
any bugs or not working features?
any reviews are appreciated
I just wanted to ask this too, has anyone tried it yet ? Thanks !
AFAIK the maintainer is the same guy as the maintainer from Pixel Experience. Should be the same three then. Havent tried it but maybe in a week or so will give it a try.
I tried to install it. So... I didn't see everything but the biggest problem is that open gapps doesn't install.I didn't find any solution to fix it yet. I tried the APK but it didn't work and always crash

Sorry for double post.I re-tried today with install of Gapps after rebooting. So it worked more or less. I have the apps but I can't sign in. ("Couldn't sign in,there was a problem communicating with Google servers, try later)
Except that bug the ROM has the same bugs as PE,with a bit more customisation

Hi, I had the same problem and a guy on the rom telegram gave me the solution. you have to flash the picosgapps first, watch if it works and install bigger gapps after. It worked the first time for me.
Enjoy

I resolved the problem in an other way. Install ROM,Gapps AND magisk before reboot. I don't know why but Google play needs root on this ROM
have been on this build for some time and I must say that it works well and the battery consumption is good. The update is almost daily through Ota and happens perfectly, I suggest you try it ..
I can't instal 3rd party apps (apk files) in this rom. Anyone facing the same problem? Any solution? Tried installing APKs via flashable zip using twrp, but didn't work. Please help
