[Q] OS update failure

Hi folks,
I am not familiar with the terminologies that is used in this website, and the thing is i was trying to update my OS on HTC incredible S using the official OTA update, but during the update process after downloading the update package and amid the installation it was shut down automatically and its now like a dead phone and i can't either turn it on anymore and it always gets stuck in the installation process every time i try to turn the cellphone on. To my knowledge, It seems that it has lost its boot file and can not load the system.
It would be appreciated if you guys could help me figuring out what has happened to my phone and what i can do to recover its normal status !
BTW, my cellphone is nor rooted and has no warranty !!!
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Regards,
Saeed

By hboot i suppose that you mean holding down a specific key and then booting !
I have tried that but the problem is i think because the update process was interrupted while installing the new OTA, i guess the device has lost its boot file and i need to do something to recover it.
BTW, i have heard that some guys try to change the board in order to repair this kinda failure !
What do u think guys please help me recover its status .. i'm so pissed off
Did you try taking the battery out and putting it back in?
Also if it did shut off during radio or hboot update you now own some expensive trash.
Also there are variety of recover options, one is J-Tag, second fastboot methods and so on. Soon, if ai have free time I make you a guide about it.

My best advice to you would be to flash the stock RUU for the carrier you are on and then see if that fixes it. Other than that I am not sure of anyone else that has had this isse aside from one other that fixed his with a flash of the stock GB RUU for his phone.

Hmm that may be an issue. I am not even sure you can flash an RUU without a windows machine. I would start looking around google to find out and if not start seeing about using a friends computer
Look for the IMEI on the box and try to enter it Maybe the method for the AT&T galaxy S III will also work for you.

how do I do it manualy?
As far as I know...there is no way to delete the imei on an HTC (unlike Samsung's that have it located in the eds folder in root) from what I've read its kept in its own partion that no app or file explorer can access...
Here's my advice...download the stock rooted rom, flash it
If you can find a pc to use then use a ruu (yet another reason why I hate macs and apple all together-programs either are programmed for them last or not at all)

Unless your s-off, you need to by a new computer so you can fastboot a boot.IMG or learn how to do it on your g4.

[Q] Need help with this HTC Sprint.

I accidentally posted this in HTC wrong section. There I found out this to be a Sprint one.
Hey guys.
I am back. After a long time. U guys helped to fix my HTC orbit.
Now I got another one. It's got no OS when I got it.
I am posting some pictures for better presentation.
Front
Back
The issue I have is seen below.
Closeup
All I can get to from the phone is what you see in the picture.
I need a good ROM for this.
Please advice what I should do.
Thanks
It appears to be a Sprint One
You can fix it by running the RUU found HERE
thnx bigdaddy619.
Are u sure it would do the trick.
I believe I have to update thru sync manager.
I downloaded the HTC sync manager and and tried to see if it detects the phone.
I don't think it does cause I do not see my phone android version or sense version or anything in sync manager.
I can see the Android USB Device in the device manager. I believe the USB drivers are installed. The phone changes to FASTBOOT USB when I connect the USB cable. Means the phone enters FASTBOOT automatically.
Do I still go about download the RUU ROM from HTC and try it?
The HTC sync app says it cannot find device

search a little dude, that problem has been solved a hundred times in the sprint forum
It worked. Changed some settings.
Now another problem.... Installed TWRP and restarted. Now back to square one. Same as before.
But it does boot to TWRP but not to OS.
Update gives an unknown error 115.
So removed TWRP. Now it is stuck in HTC logo with white background not black original boot logo. It won't turn off. So had to let the battery go down to shutdown. Now charging. Will try the original ROM again and post back.
sorry

I experienced the same thing when I took the OTA. Big ole wifi calling update killed my wifi! Sprint wanted me to bring it to the repair center....screw that. It just so happened that it was the same day RUUs started surfacing, thank god! If I were you I would check out O.M.J.s thread as he has posted RUUs for h/k and also non h/k sprint devices. Run the RUU and you'll be good, then go from there.

Not sure, probably true though. My phone has better battery life running on lte than wifi. I was always under the impression being on wifi you were supposed to get better battery life.

Please Help ! phone switches off randomly..

Help me guys please.
My Htc one m8 switches off automatically but if i use it while charging then phone doesn't switch off . My battery does show charge and I am able to charge it.
Here's a little background:
I had s-off and unlocked bootloader on my htc m8 (non-hk) running kitkat rom and it was rooted. So in order to update it to marshmallow ,i had flashed the MM Rom everything was fine, then there was a handsfree activation loop so as to remove it I had followed this guide and before deleting the contents of carrier folder,I had made a backup of the carrier in the sdcard (but later found out it was missing). :crying: :crying:
On reboot it showed me some error about wifi calling and I saw that wifi calling option and roaming options were missing. And whenever I clicked on any app,it would switch off but while charging it doesn't.
Also when I insert my sim card ,it will just switch off regardless of whether I'm charging or not.
I guess my battery works fine as I am able to charge it and while on the bootloader it doesn't switch off. I have tried flashing back to stock, flashing a custom rom but nothing works. I dont have a nandroid backup(my mistake) and I have also searched around but the links don't work
So guys please help me if there is a way to fix this . And is it possible to make my root directory back to stock ??

Yes that guide is the one. If u want to upgrade to marshmallow thn just flash the marshmallow firmware first then flash the ruu. And as u have supercid so u can flash either the hk or non hk ruu ...it should be so simple and u can do it just only your phone. No need of a pc or writing commands in adb and all

Yup bro I did flash the MM firmware first and then the RUU and the flash was done successfully. But things went wrong when I had deleted the contents of the carrier folder (which is located in the root directory) & after that i rebooted my phone.
It showed something about the wifi calling (and later i found that my wifi calling option was no more present) and when i clicked on any app my phone switched off.
Now I am back on stock rom but still the problem persists :crying:
Does flashing firmware or ruu resets the root directory ??

I tried flashing the stock firmware(1.54.651.10) and ruu again but tethering and roaming options are missing. My phone is able to detect the sim card and wifi works fine.
When charger is not connected it boots till the HTC logo and then dies but when I connect the charger it boots normally.
If after the boot i disconnect the charger then the phone stays and doesnot turnoff. But if after that i click an app, it opens it and then shuts down immediately. (No rapid drop in Battery level after reboot).
In short, the shut down problem is still there.
In the meanwhile I performed an OTA update to 2.16.651.4 which added a wifi calling app ( in attachments) I tried clicking it but does nothing.

Bro,my tethering options were hidden, so there were no tethering options. I found the solution here. But wifi tethering doesn't work(its greyed out).
And I get an option "activate this device" in settings, can you say me how to remove it??(I dont have a sprint sim and I had it sim unlocked)
The screen flickers sometimes,I guess that could be the reason for automatic shutdowns.
(loose connections may be )

Yes u can remove that easily. If u have already rooted then just download an app which can uninstall pre installed apps and then all u have to do is uninstall the crappy sprint apps. If u are not rooted http://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-remove-bloatware-from-your-android-device-xda-tv/ this link. Just connect to a pc and download the bloatware hiding app .connect the phone in usb debugging mode and disable all the sprint apps u find in the list. That activate device will disappear
