Deleted stock OS and backup!!! HELP - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I had rooted my device HTC One M8 (Sprint), and while attempting to flash the Venom ROM I deleted my stock OS as well as my backup. I am able to reboot into reboot into TWRP recovery and fast boot usb is recognized. However while attempting to use commands on terminal (Mac and PC) nothing is responsive. The only thing I can think of is trying to flash the stock Harmond ROM since there is no stock ROM for Sprint's regular M8 posted online yet. Another problem I have is to flash the Harmond ROM I would have to have S-Off, but unfortunately mine turned back on after I wiped everything. I was told by another person to side load a ROM but like I said commands are not working. I have also tried flashing from installing them on my external SD, but all the ROMS I have found require to have S-Off. Please help and tell me I am not completely screwed.

You don't need S-off to flash any of the ROM's here. S-off is preferred if you're able to obtain it on your device, but it's not required. Use the mount option in TWRP to move a ROM from your PC to your phone, then flash the ROM like normal. Don't forget to make a backup once you're done getting things set up.

I installed two different Harman stock RUU's onto my SD card and got activity on the boot loader screen loading them. Then after the forced reboots it would just send me into the white HTC starting screen and wouldn't do anything after that. Also tried two of the Venom ROMs but the touch screen as well as the volume up/down do not allow you to select continue to proceed the flash process. After doing some research Sprint carriers, which I am have the same issue. Have also tried Revolution and Badboy from my SD card and nothing came from them.

You have to have SuperCID to run the HK RUU. See the thread for more info. For the touch issue in Aroma, check out the thread in the link below:

You Sir, are amazing! My phone is up and running again after hours of trial and error! That two finger touch tip worked, but took a little patience. I have the latest version of Viper running now. Thanks again for your time and help!

[Q] where to proceed next? - i F'd up!

all,
it was with reckless abandon and blind/naive decisions that got me to this point. i will just lay it all out what ive done in the hopes one of you brilliant minds will lead me into the light. before i lay out the steps in which ridiculous choices led me to this conundrum, here is the question...
Where do i go from here to resolve the issue that i have and can get into bootloader (tampered/unlocked and in S-ON) but i have no operating system?
keep in mind that Ive probably and admittedly should not have been dabbling in things i had no business doing with the little to no proper due diligence...."i am awarded no points and may god have mercy on my soul!!!!!!!!!!!!"
1) i used the htc dev process to unlock my bootloader and it worked well.
2) i then proceeded to flash some custom recovery .img files via "fastboot flash recovery <insert filename here" and the .img at the end of course.
recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.4-m7 <---didnt take the first time or anytime. kept saying "entering recovery" but then the screen would go black, not boot into the recovery screen and then the phone would reboot as it would normally and go into stock OS
i then tried the following .img files below, all with the same result...
openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.1-m7
openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-m7
openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-m7
recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.2-m7ul <<<---this was the only recovery .img file that would take so i then decided to play around with the options.
3) i then proceeded to make another ridiculous choice. under one of the options in clockwork recovery "classic" menus i went forth and selected the "wipe data/factory reset" option.
so what i have now is i believe a htc one sprint phone that has bootloader unlocked with what i believe is no OS. i hear on my computer the sound when it connects via "fastboot usb" but obviously the computer doesn't recognize it so i can copy and paste a zip file onto it.
i was looking at a few threads here and could really use some guidance/encouragement. the threads are
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277892 <<< the FAQ sticky
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368907 <<< the [ROM] stock sprint one 1.31.651.2 thread

what would be the best course of action for me to take? bear in mind that the end result would probably be obviously a working phone, probably stock or w/e seems best.
thank you for taking the time in reading my post. if you require any additional information, please ask. i am probably leaving out important pieces of info.

All you need to do is fastboot flash recovery a working recovery then check and see if adb works for you in recovery.
If it does then you can adb push a Rom to /sdcard and flash it in the recovery.

thank you for your quickresponse.
as i am very very "scared" to this up any further. what would the suggested "working recovery" file i should choose and then what rom should i use? honestly im tempted at the stock one that i linked but im worried that if that doesnt go smoothly, i will lose my unlocked bootloader feature.

THANKS! i saw this thread earlier. ill take a look. ive at least watched wwjoshdew's video and i think that should work too. downloading the stuff now.
just tried wwjoshdew's directions. looks like i cant do the RUU 1.29xxxx. it goes through all the steps but at the end it says error because of the 1.31xxxx version i have already. i guess that means i have to wait until someone releases an RUU for 1.31.651.2
and if i am not sure if usb debugging mode ins enabled and i cant get back into normal bootup for the phone because i think i wiped my OS like stated in my first post. is my next step to do hansoon's AIO tool kit?

Use the tool I posted above and try to install htc drivers, install recovery and sideload a SPRINT rom. You could also try s-off and follow this guide for RUU on 1.31 if your still having trouble. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390821

so this is starting to look bleak. i am now able to get into recovery but i cant do adb sideload. it fails. has it got to do with the possibility that usb debugging was not turned on before i wiped data?
any ideas on my next try?

Grab a copy of TWRP or CWM recoveries, links are available in original dev section. Put it in the same folder as ADB - which you used in the console/terminal/command line to unlock the phone. Fire up ADB in console, just as you did to unlock the phone, and type:
adb reboot-bootloader
Your phone should go to that white screen with colorful text. Next type:
fastboot flash recovery nameOfRecoveryImage.img
As long as you're unlocked, which you are, this should work flawlessly.
cant get phone to load
I tried to install the maximushd 12.1 on my sprint htc one. I tried to do it thru twrp recovery and now the phone only loads to boot loader. Any suggestions to get the phone back working. I was using viper rom at the time.
I'm going to assume maximushd is some rom for the international HTC One. I would highly recommend against flashing international roms for obvious reasons.
Either way, RUU the phone. If you're on the new firmware (1.31), you'll need to listen to this guy. Then download the 1.29 RUU from one of the dev sections, wherever the hell it is. Then everything will be back to how it was the day you bought it. Then, just do it all again but don't **** it up - ha.
edit: I just reread, you can't get to the recovery from the bootloader? If all you did was install an international rom, you should still be able to access recovery unless twrp has the ability to repartition, which I suppose it possible. I'll do some reading.
edit2: Others were able to fix the problem utilizing the method I outlined. One of them even links directly to the guide above. Should work alright.

Did you try to flash a new one with fastboot? fastboot will work in the bootloader.

Just a quick pro-tip for you... if you didn't find the ROM in this forum (because you didn't) then DON'T FLASH IT!
If you found it in the international forums (which you did.) DON'T FLASH IT
Next time do a search because about a hundred other people who aren't good at reading before flashing have done it too.

[Q] HTC One Sprint M7WLS softbricked, don't know what else to do.

With the new 4.3 OTA I thought I might be good to delve into updating my phone today. That was around Noon, it's now 9PM, and I just don't know where else to turn. I know where I screwed up a few things and I feel like I've tried everything. Hopefully you guys will have some helpful suggestions, if not I guess I'll have to bite the bullet.
I'm a noob at rooting. I did root my HTC Evo Shift a year or two ago. Put CM 7.something on it, but I really wasn't happy with the performance so I just RUU'd back to stock and haven't messed with it since. I did leave it rooted for some root required apps though.
I rooted my HTC One a couple months ago using this method:
On gizmodo how-to-root-your-nexus-htc-one-or-samsung-galaxy-s4-990847878 (can't link it because I just signed up)
With 4.3 out I thought I would be able to find a modified update and keep my phone Stock rooted or try InsertCoin or something. My first mistake, I believe, was thinking that root was fine without S-Off.
I've got Drivers and Android SDK on my Win7 machine (I have a Mac and Fedora box if anyone knows any solutions using those OS's). I have on the phone TWRP 2.5.0.0, root, S-On. I try to upgrade to TWRP 2.6.0.0 and that doesn't work so well. I read somewhere that the M7WLS doesn't like that build, and I should try 2.6.0.1, I just strait to 2.6.3.0.
Read some articles on TWRP, watched some videos, so I go to do factory data wipe, cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe, and I do system wipe thinking I need to do that too. Whenever I reboot I basically stop at the HTC splash screen. Mistake number two, I have no OS now.
I hunt down a recovery.img from a site that is supposedly offical Sprint, flash it, try to do a factory restore, no good.
I try getting it back to stock with this:
How to Unroot / Unbrick the HTC One M7: Back to Stock by C4Etech
youtube.com C0G0hKY4P9Y
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip <rom>.zip
I get errors whether locked or unlocked. I still have S-On and I'm guessing that's why I'm getting signature validation errors.
I try TWRP and ClockworkMod 6.0.4.3 to see if I can mount to my PC, no go.
Fastboot devices recognizes the M7WLS so after more reading I'm going to try ADB sideload. ADB devices does not see my phone. HT Sync is already installed, I remove it and try HTCDriver_4.2.0.001, no go. I remove it and try Universal_Naked_Driver_0.73, still nothing on adb devices. Whether TWRP or ClockworkMod Recovery I can't side seem to sideload.
I go to the store and pick up a cable:
Staples.com Belkin-4-Ports-USB-20-External-Flex-Hub product_IM1QZ5590 (Can't link)
Put
insertcoin-m7-4.0-4.zip AND
Guru_Reset_M7_Sprint_1.29.651.10.zip
on a USB stick, but the phone doesn't recognize it so I can load from either recovery.
I'm sure I've missed a few things in there. Right now I'm sunk, I'm tired, and suggestions are appreciated.
Try buy a USB to go and put a Rom on a Memory stick them using TWRecovery flash the Rom if you have any questions feel free to ask

[Q] Velocity 4G (VODAP120) boot loop / can't RUU

Hello all,
I'm sorry to interrupt you all, but this is rather important!
I tried to root my girlfriends Velocity 4G which she got with her contract with A1 (austrian carrier).
I already flashed a One S and knew of the complications a root for HTC could bring.
So I tried to get everything together before flashing and then I did it...
Got the bootloader unlocked, installed TWRP and flashed sun_dreams rom.
Don't worry, I wiped all clean and think I did it the right way (already flashed 4 other phones, but samsungs').
But I seem to have missed something as I got in a neverending bootanimation (white background with green htc logo).
I know, that you sometimes have to wait a few minutes, but after about 5 minutes or so, I thought I was stuck on boot loop.
So I rebooted, flashed it again and rebooted and nothing changed.
I then read about the boot.img... So I extracted the boot.img and did a full wipe, then installed it, after that the rom and then (just to be safe) three times again the boot.img.
Rebooted and now I got the reboot loop (white background with green logo, then black, then white background again and so on)
I tried everything and as I was about to give up, read about the final solution: the RUU or PH39IMG.zip.
Now the problem is: I cant get either of them to work. At all. When trying to flash the RUU (with bootloader relocked), the programm says: "ERROR 170: No device connected".
I read about some other people having the same problem, so I tried the solution given to them: go to the first screen, then to your temp data, extract the rom.zip, rename it and flash that one, via putting it on the external sd and booting into bootloader.
Didn't work either: Wrong CID. Same for all RUUs I could find even closely related to my phone.
As I couldn't find the real correct RUU, I tried to cheat and use the goldcard to overgo the cid-problem.
Because I couldn't boot up the Velocity 4G I tried to make one with my own Galaxy S2, which worked.
Seems to be the wrong way, since it's the wrong CID anyways, when trying to install the PH39IMG (still all RUUs say ERROR 170).
I might need to mention I didn't do the S-OFF thing, as I didn#t want to mess with the hardware... Is that necessary for my problem to getting fixed?
Maybe I just need the one correct RUU for my model, but I can't find it anywhere!
please help me somebody, as I feel very guilty because of wrecking my girlfriends phone! :crying:
any help is appreciated!!!
greetings

OK... Vodafone is still on gingerbread...
Soooo... You need a gingerbread ROM... And a gingerbread boot.img... Then get it to boot...
After that I would s-off, super cid, get to ICS hboot... Then flash the ROM of your choice

So far so good... but where do I get it from?
I have this one:
RUU_HOLIDAY_SENSE3_5_Vodafone_DE_2.38.162.1_Radio_3.02.4740.09_34.20.701040.19_release_241518_signed
But this one won't work either...
What complicates the search, is that this phone goes by so many different names (vivid, velocity, holiday, raider, etc...)
Should I post a getvar all?
Concerning your further steps: I would be very happy to get it to run at all, maybe then think of reflashing something.
I don't know if I manage that s-off thing and I don't want to hard brick it and give it the final punch...
anyways, thanks for the fast response!
Can you get the ph39img from it?

I already did that with all the RUUs I found, but none worked...
EDIT: so I tried a solution offered by another poster in another forum which said to install CM10 on a clean wipe.
did that and it booted in the cm boot screen and loads the "first install wizard"... well, at least to the language selection screen, then it freezes and reboots again.
but at least we bought us some time at the start.

Its because of a wrong hboot...
It will happen with all of the ICS+ ROMs...
I wish you hadn't relocked your bootloader...
Can you reunlock...
Iirc there is a thread with hboot updated... Maybe try that... Or download the Wcxroot thingy and flash the juopenut hboot...

so, you're basically saying i might be able to get it to work without any RUUs or PH39IMGs?
Wow, that would be good news at last.
I already reunlocked before i flashed the CM10 rom and i didn't forget to flash the boot.img afterwards and even went back again to recovery to wipe cache and dalvik and fixed permissions.
Which one should i try?
thank you for your help!! :good:
is updating the hboot even possible without s-off?
so it seems i have to obtain s-off to flash anything else than stock rom...
as far as i read you have to be on stock ruu to obtain s-off, is that correct?
because that would be bad, as i don't have the stock ruu for my phone.
is it possible to acquire s-off without being on stock rom and would it be possible with the state my phone is in?

i already wrote a pm. do you have any ideas left? maybe try and install a gb rom and then try that ruu again?
ps: i did manage to start the ruu.exe (by reinstalling the htc sync) and it stopped with the error 131. installing the rom.zip (or PH39IMG.zip) still won't work as it says customer id check failed...

Okay, so I did manage to fix it, as it seems...
This is what I did:
1. reunlocked bootloader
2. installed TWRP and booted into recovery
3. mounted the internal SD as mass storage
4. copied over VJRaiders GB rom
5. did a full wipe
6. installed VJRaiders rom
7. rebooted into bootloader
8. fastboot flashed the kernel found in the rom thread (twice)
9. rebooted and it worked...
I don't know how and why, but the problem seemed to be that I always tried to flash non-GB roms. As simple as that.
I have no idea why the RUU and PH39IMG didn't work tho...
Well. I won't touch that thing for a looong time, as it works and I had enough problems getting there!
The reason that you had problems with ics and upward roms is because your phone still has the gb hboot. This is because boss never released the ics update. To install ics roms you need the ics hboot.

Which I'm only able to attain with s-off, am I right?
Correct, I believe. If you didn't get an official update to ICS, you'll have to S-Off. It's honestly not as bad as it sounds, I did mine with some speaker wire...probably the worst part of it is getting the cover off of the section where you have to ground out the point. Just take your time, and make sure you're in a well lit area, with a little bit of working space, and you'll be fine.
well, the problem is, that we are not longer on a stock rom and can't seem to flash the original ruu, as we don't find it anywhere...
and as far as i know it is not recommended or possible to go s-off without being on stock rom!?
AFAIK it is UNTESTED... Not impossible

If this is anything like other HTC devices, i'd say your best shot if you're willing to try an untested idea, would be to give it a shot with a sense rom, as they tend to be (under the hood anyways) a lot closer to stock than non sense roms.

Htc one can't go back to stock

Hi everyone, I 've successfully installed cm11 using Qbking77 tutorial with the CyanogenMod Installer on my htc one but after having some problems with music playback and battery life I've decided to go back to stock.
I've successfully relocked the phone but I can't find the exact Ruu file for my phone and I've tried with other similar ruu but had no luck.
The phone is S On HBBOOT-1.57.000 RADIO -4T.29.3218.08 OS-6.09.401.5
The phone is also stuck in boot loop and recovery mode does not work.
I have found a guy with a similar problem in this site and someone told him to try to run the firmware first and then try to flash TWRP, now the problem is after downloading the firmware file when typing the cmd command adb reboot bootloader it says that it can not find any devices. I'm not really sure what to do now.
Any help appreciated!!!thanks

Firstly, have you enabled usb debugging on your phone? And have you downloaded the most up to date adb drivers and the most up to date HTC drivers?
Because you are s on you cannot flash to downgrade your firmware
Also as your bootloader is now relocked, you cannot flash TWRP either. The bootloader needs to be unlocked to flash custom recovery
There is no RUU available for your phone, so the best option is either a guru reset which will also install stock recovery, or a nandroid backup

about the usb debugging if you are talking before the boot loop happened, yes I had it enable.
I'm gonna try one of those options to see if it works and then I'm gonna report back to let you know what happened.
btw thank you for the reply.

You are welcome, haven't fixed anything yet but come back here again with how things are going
The only way your going to get any function from adb is through recovery, using the sideload method. You should get yourself TWRP and flash using fastboot, then boot to recovery and side load a stockish rom, say viperone or the like. I choose not to run CM or any other AOSP rom for the reasons you listed in OP among others. I currently run ViperOne comming from CM and the battery life is not even comparable. Going back to stock is going to be tough per with your version of hboot s-off is not an easy task as of yet.

I'm quite new to this things so I don't understand much about it, but do you recommend installing a different rom rather then going back to stock? to be honest after all these problems I've had with cm11 I would prefer going back to stock :/

You need to unlock your bootloader first via HTC dev and then flash TWRP recovery
Reboot to recovery and choose to sideload a Rom via adb - download a sense Rom of your choice. There are plenty to chose from
Unfortunately, your going to have a difficult time going back to "Stock." You can use a custom recovery to flash a "Stock" rom, as stovie_steve mentioned, a sense rom. To you the phone will be "Stock" the only difference here is your warranty is void .

I unlocked the bootloader and rebooted the phone and everything seems to work fine. But now I don't know what I should do... Now I don't think that I want to go back to stock because it looks a bit difficult and I might end up doing something wrong and brick my phone. Is the viper rom good? I've got cm11 but as I said the battery is draining fast and I still got the music playback problem. Is it hard to install another rom? If it's not I'll probably do it.

Step 1: download a sense based ROM - ARHD, viper one, insertcoin etc onto your phone
Step 2: flash latest TWRP
Step 3: flash the ROM you downloaded
Step 4: **optional** to obtain s off, use firewater or sunshine
Thanks for the help I'm probably gonna try to install the viper one

Personally, ViperOne is the only sense based rom I will use. Its loaded with goodies and stable as they come. But there will be no harm in flashing many roms until you find something you like. Try Viper, do some shopping around, simply do a backup and flash whatever.. dont like it restore your back up. Just remember to have a current back up always. I keep ViperOne and CM installs on the sd as well as backups of both, never know what mood I be in, have the 64GB so I dont mind 5-10GB tied up by these things. Its up to You but Yes I recommend ViperOne,
