Home screen layout - Nexus 5 General

Hi there,
I recently upgraded to a Nexus 5 32GB from my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 running Android 2.3.6. However, one of the big dilemma's I have been facing is how to organize my home screens (e.g. placement of widgets, app shortcuts, etc.). I know it sounds silly, but it is something which I feel I need to get right. My current setup is;
Google now
Screen 1: Clock widget and battery widget
Screen 2: Power toggles and 4 app folders for commonly used apps
Screen 3: Flipboard widget and Facebook status widget
Screen 4: Sunrise calendar widget
Let me know what your setups are. I am keen to try different setups to see what works, as I am still getting a feel for the device.
Thanks!

First Market Purchase - Beaut. Widgets-> Problem already

After the putchase, it was installed, and when I go to select widgets, not all of the widgets are there. No clock, no weather, not sure how many I am supposed to have.
I decided maybe I need to uninstall/reinstall. Went to market, there was no 'reinstall' option. So I went into Settings/Applications/Manage Apps. and uninstalled. Got message I had a refund.
I presume I got the correct app, as it showed the right company in the Google Checkout.
What should be the right process to get this installed, especially if something is wrong.
One thing I find quite interesting with apps for Android: looks like no way to contact many of the sellers. For this for example I went to their web site, didn't see any support or method to contact them.
This app had downloadble widgets which means not all of them come installed with it.
Further research shows that many users have trouble with this app ranging from issues like yours to battery problems.
The website for the app says that you can contact them through email from the android market. if this is not the case, I would abandon this app on that basis alone lol.
poppycock app works fine on my n1 and my galaxy s.. once installed all widgets are there you only have to download skins for weather and clock.
try downloading with wifi on.. it is much faster.

Thanks for the input, but they are not there 'once installed', if then you have to 'download skins for weather and clock'. Seems to me a clock should be a widget, not a skin. On the site, which has all of 1 page talking of features, they mention things about skins, and downloading skin kits. That implies development to me.
I went to the Market online, but that, interestingly enough, you can't even search on. On thes web site, interestingly enough, NO method to contact them there. But thanks to your tip, I do see an email address on the Market from the phone.
This is quite an interesting learning experience.
The web site that is on the Market is not reachable. Maybe trouble tonight.
I'll try the email route and see if I can learn a bit more about what I need to get this stuff working.
there are 100s of custom clock skins they cannot possibly put them all with the app it would be huge.. you add the beautifull home widget under under skins download and select the clock you want..
The widget name you want is called Beautiful Home, and when you pick that one it opens up a settings box. Down at the bottom it "save and apply." You gotta hit that button to actually put the widget on the screen. If you hit skins instead you can choose what you want, but you have to apply each time as you back out of the settings interface to make the widget "stick". Small learning curve. Once the widget is up, you can hit the weather to see the big weather popup, and hitting the menu button there brings up settings and skin buttons.
This is my favorite widget, the most reliable. I have submitted skins that were accepted, so I know they are responsive. If you still need help let me know.
Thank you so much for the details. You'd think an app that is at a cost, however small, would have at least a base level of documentation on their web page.
Question: Is Beautiful Home a different set than Beautiful Widgets, or is it just required in order to use Beautiful Widgets?

Beautiful Home is the name of the clock/weather widget that comes with Beautiful Widgets.
Thanks. I got it going.
I was thinking that a 'Home' Widget was a replacement for the home screen or something like that. Its beginning to look like a home widget must be a widget that can be placed on any screen, and is 'home' to other things you will be adding, as opposed to replacing some other home widget. Is that the case in general?
How's that for a tongue twister?
I would like to know if you all recommend this app for the Captivate?
Beautiful Widgets + Launcher Pro = Fantastic UI experience
I've been using weather and toggle widget and like it more than beautiful widget but both are nice.

[Q] Help finding the perfect Home/Launcher app

ok, i've tried a fair few but only 'open home' so far can offer transparent labels/text for both icons & folders.
anyone know of any others that do this? i just want text-free home screens.
many thanks.
apes
should have said, need 7 screens & customisable folder icons.
cyanogenmod roms can add shortcuts with no text to home, but the launcher with all apps will show text. I dont know any with such a function
If you want a nice launcher try zune home, i love it.
ps edit posts, dont double post.
adw + folder organiser combined manages it.
ok re double post, almost as bad as a post that adds no value.

Sorting apps alphabetically with TouchWiz 3.0 on FroYo

Hi guys
I know this topic area has been posted before, but I wondered whether there was a way to sort the apps alphabetically now specifically that FroYo has been released?
I tried looking at one method, but I couldn't find what they were suggesting under settings.
in the list-mode it's alpabetical though.
I know. But I don't like it. I like Grid View. I know it's picky but it'd be a really simple thing for Samsung to do... :/
Search in market for TouchWiz Application Sorter.
It requires rooted phone and stock TouchWiz 3.0.
Hope I'm not hijacking here, but is there any launcher except Touchwhiz that has a list display? I'd actually prefer a pure text list display with no icons, but that's unlikely I'd guess.
There is a modified version of touchwiz for froyo in either the Apps or development forums that does that and s also supports landscape mode. Works great

Hi
because of the Touchwiz 3.0 issue with not sorting alphabetically in grid view (crazy development by the way) i switched to GO Launcher EX which is much much better. It has many more features and is still quite small.
Cheers
Alex
I know this topic is rather old, but there is a solution.. although a dumb one.
1. Go into settings.
2. Go into Applications
3. Select all applications
4. Go down to TWLauncher or something to that effect.
5. Clear Data
Back out of everything... you'll notice TouchWiz is not working anymore. Press the home button and wait a bit or restart your device.
Everything now sorted properly.
**NOTE: I've had my home screens reset too, although this doesn't happen all the time.. If you decide to use this method, be prepared to add stuff to your home screen again (widgets, modified 4 buttons at the bottom, etc)**
"appzorter" downloadable from the market for free works fine to sort the apps alphabetically in the app drawer on touchwiz UI

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Best app for sorting apps: appzorter. Download it from the Android market. It's free.

Weather widget with Null?

Has anyone been successful at adding weather widgets to the Nova home screen? Is it possible for updates without tethering?
I searched the topic several places, but have been unable to find a clear answer.
Thanks

I installed Android weather & clock and sense analog clock widget and both work fine. Have to manually configure town and disable all GPS and things.
Mast3rbug
I went through quite a few to find a widget that displayed ok on the small screen. Eye in Sky was decent but I'm currently using Beautiful Widgets.
To my knowledge you must be tethered for third part widgets, otherwise you have to use the stock Weather widget.

best small simple weather widget?

any good simple one? with big icons and text/logo so i can see the current day temperature of my local city? thanks must work with null v23 rom
i don't have the samsung stock weather widget working
must be a small app file size too, i haven weather and android notification widget and thats around 3.5megs
I use go weather products and has an great interface and widgets

Best bet would be getting the stock samsung weather working.. You wont require a internet connection on your gear by doing it this way..
Accuweather....apk & WeatherDaemon.apk are needed on your phone for Samsung weather to work. Refer HERE for more info.
You can then use samsungs stock weather widget for custom text widgets, this is more a advanced user method tho.

The thing that annoys me about Samsung's stock accuweather which the gear seems dependent on unless you tether it to the internet is that it requires you to be outside with GPS on for any updates to show as far as weather, temperature, ect... At least that's what I determined on my setup and I looked everywhere in the widget's settings ect... on the phone for a way to change that and can't.
Need Help locating app
Can anyone tell me what this app/widget/lockscreen is? This is a screenshot from a youtube video, but its exactly what i'm looking for. bit.ly/2FQsXbf
