Car dock for Flex? - LG G Flex

OK, so I've searched all over but I haven't seen an actual Car Dock for the LG G Flex. only universal mounts pop up and I have one of those (my wife and i used to have matching HTC EVO 4G LTE's) and it doesn't sit or play well with that one mostly because of the Curve and size. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to find a good LG Flex based car dock? we take trips down south to Austin from Amarillo a lot but it's a pain having to reach down in to my Jeeps cup holder and look away while i check GPS or change song. just curious

Curious about this as well.
One thing I have found (however dangerous and unsafe as it may be) is to use a mouse while driving. Using a OTG cable with a wireless mouse helps me keep much more focus on the road. Much better that reaching up to the phone and touching the screen imho. With the flex I have many times knocked the phone out of the bad-fitting car dock I have when I touch it, creating a dangerous situation. Hence my switch to a mouse

I got this universal mount sideways since I switch phones a lot. I adjust it so it's snug and don't even mess with the button to release it so it's easy to put in and take out. Our Columbus, Ohio roads suck and I've never had problem with it falling out. It's angled up so that helps. I tried at least 10 universal mounts and finally found one I like. I got it at Walmart.
I only mess with my phone when I'm at a light. I had a friend that died driving and texting.

I'm going to have to buy one of these and give it a go. My jeep doesn't have hands free, but I don't mind using my aux cable to use through my speakers.

ARKON Mounts
I have an Arkon window mount with a 18inch flexible goose-neck which also accomodates a 7 -10 inch tablet. I do see that they have an NFC enabled window mount which will probably do everything that you need it to do:

I hope this helps!

"The Intelligrip NFC-powered car dock adds convenience to your NFC-enabled mobile devices by launching your favorite apps and settings based on your preferences, all with the help of an embedded NFC tag in the smartphone holder. Just place your device in the NFC-enabled dock and the embedded NFC tag will launch your commands and switch between the profiles that you have created using the Trigger or NFC Task Launcher app."

Flex dock
I use a cd slot mounted dock and it works great. Slip it into your cd slot, tighten the tightner thingy, set phone in dock and away you go!

I've got this same one......they also make it with different mounting bases. Like one that mounts to the cars a.c. vents and another with extended arm. Holds the phone really tight and very easily usable to insert phone into and take out of.

I need a mount to use for Google Navigation and I HATE universal mounts.
I used the Epic mount made by Samsung over the last month and it worked really well.
Can anyone post a source for a similar mount for the Shift?
Thanks.
I haven't seen anything like that for the Shift, but I'd love to find one, that's awesome. I am looking for a mount that I can put on the front of my dash (the vertical area near the radio) using sticky tape (bad Dora reference there). My old one broke and I don't remember where I found it, lol.

Lol at the Dora reference (check my username)
Personally, I'm using a universal mount no problem but that one looks nice too. Doesn't look like you can rotate it though :/
The Shift may get one designed specifically for it in the near future (if it doesn't already exist somewhere)
Good luck on your search. Sorry I couldn't provide any real help :|

The OEM Epic mount from Samsung actually DOES rotate.
The mount is perfect.
I am hoping I can find a similar mount for the Shift.

Just purchased an auto mount from BestBuy. Made by Griffin named the WindowSeat AUX, usablr for different devices. I actually have it hold my shift with the bracket upside down. In otherwords the two corner grips are on the top, this way the single clip does not come near the power button. Seems to work great so far. I have access to all buttons and the power port. It also swivels so the phone can be either vertical or horizontal. Cost $35 with tax. I will post some pics if needed.
Forgot to mention that I already use a hard-case for my shift and it still is held securely by the bracket on the mount.
They are a little pricey, but take a look at ProClipUSA.. I have the one for the Shift in my truck, and its a perfect fit, has a swivel, and a cutout for the power plug in the proper place...
Ive been using their mounts for years, and worth every penny.

Nook Color Mounted In Car

So I saw on reddit a nice clean looking install of an Asus tab in a BMW 335i and thought "I'll do the cheaper version all around". I went for the nook color installed in my 325i. Same method, so really the credit belongs to X-ception for his original concept. Nice work buddy.
I took it one step further and this cheap little tablet can be mounted either horizontally OR vertically and still be fine while riding. The downside of this is it most likely wiggles more than the transformer due to how I mounted it to allow either orientation. Also the transformer has some more weight to it.
Right now the audio is only connected via AUX cable, but I will be going the bluetooth route as well once I can manage to save $50 or so. For now it is a fun proof of concept and it can handle whatever kind of driving I've thrown at it. Again minimal wiggling and this is my first test with the nook in the car. For the minimal work required I'm certainly very happy with it.

Damn you guys are fast. In the time it took to fix the pics I already had 2 complaints about them haha.
You get the mount here: http://www.proclipusa.com/ Just buy the mount NOT the device holder (they don't have one for the nook color).
Then you buy the "pad tab" mounting system here. http://www.thepadtab.com/
The cool part is I now have one extra pad tab mount (comes with 2) so I can mount my nook somewhere else as well like my wall or something. I'm trying to think of something more creative though.
I know you can't tell from the pic, but its a 6 speed standard transmission and the nook being in the car in NO way interferes with my driving or it would have been pulled out immediately.
Very nice install and use of the PadTab. We love this stuff. We saw the other install on this site and are impressed with the creativity here!

Nice work!!
I'm trying to figure out how to position/mount the nook in my Jeep without getting in the way of anything else, and without blocking the windshield. It would also need it to be within easy reach of the driver for those days when I go 4-wheeling solo.
I think it would be very neat to use with off-road trail apps and an external GPS.
Any ideas?
Here's what my cockpit looks like:
Honestly? Give windshield mounting a try. I do it in my Tacoma, and unless i move to look at it, the nook does not block my view at all, nor has it caused legal issues (i know it has been seen by officers). Having it mounted right above the center console makes it really easy to use as well, all by my self.

Maybe Try and mount it to the left of the wheel , other then that i would cover your radio with the exception of the volume since you can use the nook as a music device

Honda Pilot + Nook Color, DIY no dock needed

I own a 2009 Honda Pilot and just recently bought a refurbished NC. I couldn't help but noticed that it will almost fit in the center console:

In fact, if I push hard enough, the top of the console cover will actually lift a little bit to give room. So, I decided that I only need to cut a little groove underneath the ceiling so my nook will lock into place:
It worked quite well, but because of the pressure, sometimes it will accidentally press on the volume key and the power keys. So I made the groove on the upper left side longer so it won't press on the volume keys, and I cut out a hole in the rubber matt at the bottom so it won't touch the power button:
When I detach the NC, you can't even tell a hold was cut underneath the ceiling of the top cover unless you get up really close to examine it. And when I attach it, it's awesomely beautiful! I hope this will help other Pilot owners.
Tools I used:
- dremel rotary tool to cut the hole in the ceiling
- sharp knife to clean up the cuts, and cut the bottom matt
Tested: tethered off my Tmobile G2 for internet and GPS, activated google navigation while listening to pandora.
Thats pretty sweet!!
Nice mod! although personally I would not cut into a console of my car just to fit a Nook into it.

Haha.. I know exactly what you mean... I debated for a while myself, but I figured that it won't really be noticeable at all. I bet if I sell my car right now, the buyer won't even notice the slots I've cut out from the under side of the top cover.

LG 4x HD Fits the Galaxy S II desk dock! Plus my customcar install

I ordered a cheap desk stand from eBay, for the galaxy SII and the 4x HD fits perfectly!
I also customised a dock for my car, got fed up with trying to squeeze the phone into a rubbish looking universal mount, then connecting a trailing cable. So I hid the cables hard-wired behind the dash, and dremel'd the dock to shape, bent it with a hot air-gun, clamping it in a vice. Getting the connector to stay in place took a hot glue gun. (leaving a cavity underneath means I can still reach my headlight switch, not that i use it, I leave it set to on 100% of the time on the Volvo, as it makes no difference - the daytime running lights are set up to be the main dipped headlights anyway!)
I think now I've got a working prototype I'll buy another and redo it a bit neater. (The dock is only about £4 from china!) as the plastic has reacted a bit to the heat!
The dock is simply squeezed into the gap in the dash trim, it holds fine.
The phone jiggles a bit and it isn't angled towards the driver quite right, but it's fine, and certainly easier than having to fiddle the phone and charger in every time I get in the car!

look great !!! cool man ^^
I Should add, people have commented on two things - firstly in a crash it's going to fly out very easy and be dangerous (Though surely any cheap phone mount will also! Only something like a Brodit will hold it very securely)
Secondly (and quite worryingly!) Perhaps the charging socket will wear out from sitting wobbling around?
Nice but isn't mobile blocking your air-conditioning channel?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, but sitting in the flow of air wasn't a big deal for me. Most universal mounts mount onto a vent!
I since removed this! Firstly, the phone wobbles quite a lot - I was worried that the charging socket could get worn out.
Also, in the event of a crash it would fly around quite easily!
I now use a Clingo, but I modified it by screwing the tip of the ball-joint onto a Brodit base, so it's held next to my stereo
Hi, can you please give the url for the dock you bought ?

I have one like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sync-Charge-Cradle-Dock-Station-Charger-For-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-S3-S4-i9300-i9500-/231021608377?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item35c9f5fdb9
Though I've now added a shim of card (taped on the back part with black electrical tape) to hold it at just the right angle.
Just to clarify, I'm just talking about desk stands here, the car cradle idea was just me bodging a desk stand, but I don't use that any more.
I doubt a real G S2 car cradle will hold the 4x, the width would have to be the same and I'm sure it's not!

here is a video of my set up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SNHy5ofp5E
I actually have a similar set up as you (including tethered gnex!). While it's a nice mount, one of the issues I ran into with the mount is the way the part that holds the tablet attaches to the base. It's this idiotic peg and slide (wish I had a picture to show you).
Basically, you MUST have the mount fixed a certain way otherwise the tablet part of the mount could slide off after awhile (as I found out while driving through city streets). Unfortunately, to do that you would have to put the retractable part of the arms on the bottom, which kinda works against gravity. It's fine now but time will tell if those springs give way and become loose
