Some hints:
1. Be sure you are on latest CWM or TWRP recovery!!!!!!
2. Not all gapps packages right now are nice working. You can try others but at least I know that the one linked here is working. If you have other gapps which are working you can link it here of course
3. Full wipe when coming from any 4.4 rom (as well format system manually please)

Reporting Bugs
When you submit a bug you want to make sure that nothing from your side is causing it. Otherwise your developer might be hunting a bug which doesn't really exist.
The best way to achieve this is by doing the following.
1. Make a nandroid backup.
2. Perform a full wipe (factory reset + wipe /system)
Now we have two different ways depending on what kind of problem you're having.
3a. When you're having a problem with a ROM function, flash just the ROM without GAPPS etc. and boot back into the system. You will boot directly onto the homescreen.
3b. When you're having a problem with a 3rd party app in combination with our ROM then flash the ROM and GAPPS.
Boot now back into the system. You will boot to the setup wizard.
Log in to your Google account but make sure that you untick "Restore from my Google Account to this phone/tablet".
Finish the setup and open the playstore and download only the app you're having problems with.
4. Start a logcat recording and reproduce the bug (if possible more than once) while taking the logcat. If you don't know how to get a logcat read this tutorial or this.
5. Post the logcat in a txt file (this is important because you otherwise clog up the threads with your log) in the correct thread.
Please also write detailed description how we can reproduce the bug.
6. Restore your backup from point 1 and wait for a fix (don't ask for ETAs).

compared to the LTE version of the S5, the 3G variant is the minority. If it ever does see development, it will start out very slowly

Damn, so many promising new ROMs but no camera yet. I hope CM can get it working soon.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM dev that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't (or don't want), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Octo-Kat
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Bugs:
Let us know if you run into bugs. Get Syslog from the Android Market, if you don't already have it. No logs and we can only try to recreate the event off of vague descriptions. Please also include what you were doing when it FCed or failed. Logs can be emailed to: [email protected]
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Three-Finger or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Flash ROM and GApps .zip files
Reboot
A Note about the Team OctOs GApps
We in Team OctOs believe in choices. We believe in leaving the fundamental decisions about your phone to you.
In that spirit, Team OctOs gives you options for your GApps experiences. While any GApps package should work, we offer you the choice of using some of the same GApps packages that we use ourselves, and leave the choice up to you.
The Dalvik-Enhanced packages are NOT ART compatible. If you plan to run ART, don't use those.

The idea is that you can have an almost 100% AOSP experience unless you choose not to. It's why out of the box you don't even have a Reboot option.

Also downloading. Thanks for the port!
Just what I was waiting for. Just yesterday I started trying different kit kat roms but none of them convinced me.
I have a few issues so far:
- I enabled root access but Titanium Bakcup complains that it can't get root access.
- It seems apps now take too much space. I installed 10% of the apps I normally used and they used half the internal memory space. Is this because of ART, which I enabled, or a "feature" of Kit Kat? Do you recommend using ART or stay with Dalvik?
- GPS doesn't work for Slim in 4.3 and 4.4. I didn't try 4.2. To make it work I flashed yagf2 and the expheria files.
Thanks for the awesome rom!
Thanks for you response.
I will include AngryGPS in next build to fix GPS.
Hmm, internal storage is little weird, but i think it is normal, only problem with storage started with installing XDA App.
Enable root acess in developer setting, tick: enable root acess for Apps and ADB.
ART isnt still good working, dont report BUGS, if ART is enabled. Use Dalvik
Thank for you review, hope that you will not change ROM, and keep using SlimKAT
Greetings

Hi all,
Titanium worked again after leaving my phone alone for an hour or so. I also went back to dalvik following your recommendation.
I have one problem so far: I can't install the xda app. I get an error saying it can't install on internal memory or sdcard. I have no idea why this happens. I haven't had that problem with any other app I have installed: chrome, netflix, gps test, and around 20 more.
The great thing about Slim: 100+ MB free in RAM compared to the 40 I was getting with Avatar. Awesome job guys!

You can do dirty flash, so you dont need to full wipe, but some bugs can happend.
For titanium, i already do that, and no problems.

Device:Sony Xperia Z2 (SIRIUS)
What is AOKP?
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
Why AOKP ?
We were waiting for when you’d ask this.
There are a variety of reasons why a hilly billy Android user, on a bright sunny day, would suddenly start using AOKP and loving it.
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they’re “baked in” by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.
Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone’s settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.
You can change almost each and every aspect of the OS, from its looks to the way it functions, with total freedom. And did we tell you, AOKP helps you make tacos?

In that case, do you think it would be possible to include whatever improvements were made to the camera in 402? Apparently it has helped with the overheating.
Of course, I say this having not yet used the camera with and without the update, and knowing that this ROM doesn't have camera working yet...
Sent from my LG-E971 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No, as this isn't Sony's firmware and doesn't use Sony's camera app. You'd have to port their app to aosp
Sent from my Touchpad using Tapatalk
Ahh, OK.
Do you need their camera app to record 4k video?

And my previous post was not asking about improvements to the camera app, but to its firmware.

Unless a play store app does 4k, yes

what are the differences between this and CM? I've always seen CM as the gold standard of roms, and it's hard to imagine a rom improving on this. I understand this is based on CM. What has been added to the CM build? What is maybe not as strong as in CM, or missing that CM features?

AOKP is CM on streroids...
AOKP is based on AOSP like CM but it has many under the hood tweaks and that enhances the user experience but it depends on you and what you want the devices to do. The feature list is extensive and there are too many to list but it comes down to prefernce and what you as the user wants to do with the device.
CM is based on AOSP with minor additions to enhance the user experience.

Perfect, that is the impression that I had as well but I wanted to be sure.
Fingers crossed daily for a camera fix... don't need MFC but the camera is essential. I'll pay big bucks for this ROM, I've been missing awesome roms for 2 years now.

Camera and touch screen bug after reboot etc keep this and all other AOSP ROMS from being daily drivers. Once someone figures that out we'll see a lot more development I bet

I recently bought an S5, and you know what. I love my Galaxy Grand still, and with these Lollipop releasesm Wow. Only waiting for a Wakelock Blocker, for after KitKat, these firmwares are so power hungry. Then again, its end is near, for when Galaxy Grand 3 is available, I need LTE.

Thanks so much for the new one more ROM to Grand community.
Try to add APN but it doesn't save
Thanks for a good ROM. I always like the slim roms. Initial lollipop build, my experience : mobile data wont work, some random reboots, cannot sync google account(this one i am not sure, may be i did something wrong, gapps package may be). The rom is awesom. This is just a initial release, waiting eagerly for builds with issues fixed as much as possible. Devs take a bow :good:

Hi @xenon92,
I am one of the slimrom follower. Really looking into your build. But as I need to use my device as daily driver, in on blisspop now. But still keeping my hope on your slim build to get more stable, at least for daily use.
And I'm not gonna ask for any ETA's as all aware of the rule, but it's been a while since your last post here. So, I just wanna know, are we still building this rom? If we are, I'm happy to lend any help in my free time, if possible. I'm no dev, jut like to read a lot about android and "deving", just don't have right hardware to do so.
So, any help in need, let me know.
Good day.

xenon isn't in the forum anymore , he got a new device ( That's what i heard ) that's why he gave RVR the rights to build RR ROM and all his ROMs hasn't been updated for long time
Whatever he hasn't been active for long time . So i doubt he got a new device . he is just having his time off or something

This is a slim based rom with lot of goodies added and awesomeness of RRO Layers. This rom is for people who just don't want to stick to stability+performance accompanied with a slim base. I am the mantainer for this rom. This rom is well tested before release so expect a major stability

#2 - sorry I'm a n00b lol found download folder.
Perfect its even showing dualsim screened nice one +vatsal I expect to see dual sim fully working in this one lol only jk does for dual sim models have quickbar above notification with both simcards displaying not just one
Can't seem to find Q&A sub forum so I'll post here.
I've only noticed two bugs so far, one being it constantly says 'no service' however my calls and texts all work. (Wind mobile) and two being the gestures, they don't seem to be functional at all. I could have settings wrong but that's all I have noticed so far.
Is the ota implemented in working order?

I'm not saying your testers are lying but...
(Just being informative heh)
Also I noticed this ROM does work with the moto gestures (twist for camera and chop for torch) any options to disable?

I think I may be confusing you slightly. I can see the 'off screen' gestures you included those do not work. (Double tap screen etc.) However the original two gestures that stock introduced (example : twist for camera, chop for flashlight.) Do in fact work on this ROM.
But the ones you keep speaking to me (or referring to op) about do not.
I went to get a screen however like op stated you nerfed the options tab all together so since new update I can't take a screen. (Just because it's hard taking a screenshot of two active motions ie. Twist and chop.)
