[Q] Unlocked AT&T Lumia 920 - won't register with network - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an AT&T Lumia 920 that I got unlocked over the net.
When I do the ##7820# it shows the status as SIM unlocked.
With my Fido SIM inserted upon boot is says Network Unavailable. Go to Settings --> Cellular --> Network Selection --> Scan for Networks, the phone "sees" Fido, Telus and Bell networks.
##3283# to enter the field test.
On my 1020, in the Field Test --> LTE, Sys Mode = 4 - LTE
On my 920, in the Field Test --> LTE, Sys Mode = Invalid
Any thoughts on what to do to get this 920 up and running? And, I do happen to have yet another 920 around, which might be used for parts if necessary.

[Q] HTC Pure Network selection (always has me roaming)

Hi,
I've just got a hold of a HTC Pure and have unlocked it and put a 3 mobile (Australia) sim into it.
The problem is that it doesn't seem to recognise the 3 mobile network? When I go to Network settings it says the following:
Current Network: 3
But if I search for available Networks it only shows Vodafone AU, Telstra, and YES OPTUS... no 3 mobile network?
On the home page of TouchFlo 3D it says '3' in the service bar as well (it never says roaming) however if I go to the marketplace (for e.g.) it will say that it has detected that I am roaming (and gives me the warning that I may incur additional charges).
Cheers
this may be due to the fact your using a us marketplace and it sees you in the AU and it does not know any better .

[Q] Nexus One not working with the Bell Mobility network either voice or data?

I just received my Nexus One which I ordered through the Google Developer program (Brightstarcorp) and I'm not able to get it working with the Bell Mobility network for either voice or data
I have a signal bars on my N1 with a Bell Mobility SIM card but it dosen’t works.
When I slide down the notification bar it say "Bell" and try this to get it working.
I have tried all solutions and have the recommended settings on the phone (also running Froyo 2.2.1-Build number : FRG83).
- I tried my SIM to another Bell phone and it works.
- I tried another Bell SIM in my N1 and it did not work.
- I'm using an active data plan card not a prepaid card.
But it works with Rogers or Fido
I tried the following :
1.Go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators: after about 1 minute I see network the currently available Bell
I click on Bell and see a signal not working.
2. Go to the dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#* this bring a hidden menu
3. tap on "Phone Information" It list the current network as Bell and also showing the IMEI and the Phone number. The IMEI and phone number are correct.
4. Hit the menu button and press "Select radio band" and click on "Automatic" .
5. Still not working I make sure radio band is set to "Automatic" then go back to the previous screen and scroll all the way to the bottom. Click under "set preferred network type" and choose through until I find one that works 1. WCDMA preffered or WCDMA only or GSM auto (PRL) it takes a few seconds from the time I click until the settings take place, just watch the signal bar at the top of the screen until it changes. Even try the "unknown" network type at the bottom of the list if the others don't work.
All the above fails.
For those of you out there who have successfully activated the Nexus One on the Bell network could you let me know which version of the phone you have.
Thanks for your suggestions.
well i am sorry to say but i dont think that the phone will work with Bell. the dev phones as far as i know are all AWS. so the only way it is going to work is if you get a rogers sim and use it on edge or a wind/moblicity sim and you can use 3G. bell does not have an edge network to back up on.
That's true. Bell/Telus has only the 3g network. The developer phone will not work. It will use edge/2g on Rogers/Fido. And will be fully supported on Wind or Mobilicity.
Nexus One with a Bell Mobility it dosen’t works!!
About Videotron?
Thanks

[Q] Droid Bionic HW C on T-Mobile

I've looked through al the other threads on the topic, and I seem to be better off because I have a Bionic HW C that I can actually use my t-mobile service with. But I can only connect to an at&t network so I'm roaming. If I go into mobile networks and switch to 2G only, and reboot I'll have an orange triangle in the notification bar. The message is:
No Service
Selected network (T-Mobile) unavailable
When I goto the program menu/ test mode (or whatever), hit next twice to get to the field test screen, there's a message immediately at the bottom which says "Network mode: got out of range value". I can't get it to pick up T-Mobile during the test, but I do see it time to time when I search for networks in the "mobile networks" in settings but can never connect. Has anybody determined the differences between HW A phones and later versions, as people with the first version seem to have no problem getting a T-Mobile sim to work. What are nv items 4869-4872? The last two have values and the first two are blank. Looking into what carrier suppression is I don't think the first two should be blank. In fact when looking at the nv list in winhex it list those two as "inactive", while the other two say "ok". Also when looking at the sim information returned by a number of sim info apps, all of them have the "network operator name" field blank, although network operator id shows correct value of 310-260. Mobile network search also shows this id for t-mobile when I can get it to see t-mobile. Has anyone got any further than this with getting later versions of the bionic working on t-mobile? Also does anyone know how to get to the hidden motorola gsm menu or any other hidden menus?
Seems like I've seen somewhere that HW A also operated on 1700 band too. Can anyone confirm this difference?

[Q] ATT Nexus 6 Manual Network Selection

The ATT vs of the N6 doesn't have "Network operators" as an selection. Under Setting...More...Cellular Networks, I have Data roaming, Preferred network type, and Access Point Names. On my N5, Network operators could be selected to scan for other carriers' networks. Is there a change to build.prop that would enable this selection? Or is this not possible?
N6 Moto version doesn't have that either, and I don't recall seeing that option prior to inserting the ATT SIM. So, I'm not sure that particular option is available.

[Q] D5803 unable to connect to LTE due to customization

I bought a second hand Z3 Compact that was previously a consumer device on Virgin Mobile UK. I am on 3 and would like to use LTE. Virgin disables LTE on consumer devices via a modem customization file that you can see in:
*#*#7378423#*#* --> Service Info --> Software Info --> Current Modem Config: /system/etc/customization/modem/amss_fsg_ries_tar.mbn
I have also checked Configuration, which indicates that the LTE bands (1,2,3,4,5,7,8,13,17.20) are available on the device.
I cannot manually force LTE from within this menu.
When viewing the config in the USSD menu *#*#4636#*#* I can again verify that the LTE modem is present but I cannot force LTE to be switched on.
Has anyone struck this problem before? I have tried reflashing the device via Sony's support tool but the customization did not clear. I have not tried using the generic firmware located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706 because the UK version appears to be a revision out of date, but I am happy to stand corrected.
Thanks,
Tim
