[Q] Swap external to internal? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there anyway to do the swap on the Xperia Z C6602 any stock ROM (4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4.2)?
I had searched about it, and this is what I had Found, you need to modify the vold.fstab file, which should have 3 lines, for the internal, external and USB but mine have 2 there is no line for internal, and for the 4.4 can't be since this is related to the Kitkat SD restriction which can be fixed?
I have tried several ways, on 4.2.2 and 4.3 and even 4.4.2 with no success, so what is it I'm doing wrong?
My device is Xperia Z rooted and with dual recovery, Locked Bootloader, 64 GB Ultra sandisk, Stock ROM (4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4.2)

I had searched about it, and there is a way for CM11 and other 4.3 ROMs since there is Vold file, or is this related to the Kitkat SD restriction which can be fixed?

There is a thread discuss SD fix. you should search it more carefully.http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/fix-t2759826
you can use the method or an app.
I think 2G RAM is enough to run any apps so it doesn't need to swap.

thank you for your answer, but I'm not talking about the fix for SD writing since I know about it already,
I'm talking about making my 64 GB card act like my internal so I install more apps since we can't move apps, and the RAM has nothing to do with this, I hope now I'm clear.

Bro. That's app2sd, not swap.
swap means using part of your internal memory as device's RAM, it seems the Virtual Memory on Windows.
Stock 4.4.2 don't support it. If you have an unlocked bootloader, you can give a try on custom Rom.I'm on slimKAT 5.10 right now and it support this. butter smooth.

XXLS2 and exFAT support

Did sammy include the exFAT support in the new JB rom as it is available for S3
Becuase Large SDcard (64GB Sandisk) work best with this specific format
other formats needs alot of mods to work with laggy performance
I think it should has native support for it
older roms are not supporting exFAT due to licensing issues with microsoft
please everybody share your knowledge about this topic
I'm not running the JB rom yet, but 64Gb cards work fine on ICS 4.0.3 and 4.0.4.

i tried link2sd but Mount2SD is most effective i found..
but how can i move All system apps + data to sd-ext ?
You don't want to. Sd-ext is faster than FAT32, but you still want system apps installed internally for speed. That's why Link2SD won't link system apps; the Cronmod scripts leave the system apps alone too.

[Q] Help for a first root

Hello, I'm new over there and I saw somewhere that rooting his phone is really usefull.
The fact is that I'm a complete noob about all of this, so I don't understand all the terms, and english isn't my main language. (sorry for my english)
Is there someone kind enough to help me with my galaxy S advance I9070, he is in gingerbread.xxlk2 ; Android version is 2.3.6 ; Kernel is 2.6.35.7-1211579.
Thank you for reading and I hope someone accept to help me
Okay.. since Gingerbread is ancient, I'd recommend you to upgrade to Jellybean (but backup all your data first) because rooting Jellybean is very very easy

Thanks, but my problem is that the first link is on hotfile, who closed recently :/ I got the root from the section "root" of the second link but Jelly Bean is required. My question is : for the third link, if my country isn't on the list, is it a problem or any firmware works ?

There is no 4.2 update from Samsung for this device
Anyways this is the only way to root JB I think.. I think you need to partition your external SD card.. wait.. @shut_down probably knows the proper answer

Yes, if you do not see anything on your external SD card - you must partition it. HOW TO.,
And if you do not see just that root.zip, then you did not put it in there. Maybe you copyed it in internal.

Looks good to me.. Now if you experience any lags or performance issues then change your firmware to the latest ones; or Root your phone and Install CoCore E Kernel.. You will definitely notice the improvements!
If you're still not satisfied then you can install Custom ROMs based on Samsung's firmwares or directly go for Omni or CM :good:

Did you do a full wipe? 11.04gb is probably not counting ROM space which is ~5gb.
If you have your phone set to auto-install apps, that could have taken up space. Plus, you might have stuff like the ROM file still in phone storage, if you delete thouse you might free up some space
You need to format all partitions from within recovery(custom) to free up space .Don't format EFS though .

Nope, but, at least for my usage pattern, 4.1.2 is rock stable.
Other than having a higher number, does KK really "give" you anything in the Note1,
that would be worth the hassle of trying to get it to work?

@lukasspro777 Would you like to elaborate on that? Obviously going out of TW will also bring some disadvantages, like the use of the S PEN, and some TW based applications which I quite enjoy: the S Note and the S Planner, just to name a few.
Obviously they can be replaced - however not something everyone is willing to do.
The major thing for me with the stock ROM is the lack of space for installing applications. Nothing is more irritating than receiving a brand new update of your favourite application and when trying to install it and get the "not enough memory" error.
I for one did get annoyed enough to try the SlimBean final stable version, and I did not go back. The ROM is fantastic, and extremely light. I had to install some new applications like the Business Calendar Pro and the matching Business tasks which I learned to enjoy (even though the visual aspect of the S Planner was better in my opinion). I also substituted the S Note with Evernote, Sketchbook mobile express and Papyrus and now it looks like a new phone.
However its not like I gained a new feature with 4.3.1 over what the stock ROM had. But after about 2 years of using it, it was taking too much time to open some applications and the general lag was all over the place. Now its not a Galaxy Note 3, but I am quite happy with this change.

I know nokiamodel91, but I don't want to swap my SD card and internal memory. I want to be able to swap my 64gb sd card and not worry that half of my applications will stop working.
I never understood why out of the 16GB internal storage only 1.9GB can be used for applications. I have the internal storage almost empty, as I save everything on the micro sd card and find it very frustrating to have internal storage space but can't use it to install applications.

Wow if this is true than it would be excellent. I have been asking for something like this for a long time, however the reply that I have received from the developers was that it was not possible.
Could you please link the threat? Is it compatible with all ROMs or just the stock?
Many thanks for that information.

I tried almost all versions of them already sir, and I think the final verdict was to wait for at least a real stable build coz the nightlies still can't compare to stable JB built cusroms with exception of Themes and appearance of the KitKat of course.
I no longer wait stock rom from SS. I love custom roms that is defference between Android and ios
