it happened also to me one time

same problem that @doctoralex have... black screen :/

That issue is not related to the recovery.
I also have this problem, and I'm using another recovery

I've also had some blank black screen in recovery with the phone attached to the pc. I could manage the problem by entering the recovery without have the phone attached to the pc.

I think its a kernel related problem. So I will build a new version with the old kernel (non 3.1) soon.

And faster installing ROM, I've flashed CM10 in hmmm 20 sec ?! idk but faster than with CWM5. And it let you install zip via ADB(still untested) I'm going to test it now.
PS>
The recovery builder is now building version 6 of the recovery. The main changes are as follows:
Backups are much faster. 4-5x faster. (Bug fix due to excessive status updates of the UI and new backup technique)
Incremental backups are smaller. Way way smaller. Only 15-20MB each for each additional backup of a ROM. This is done using a new tool I wrote to dedupe the files between incremental backups to eliminate duplicates.

Haven't run into it yet.
For the installation over sideload, I confirm IT WORKS. Thank you TheWhisp
You just setup the android SDK, install ADB tools, download your favourite ROM (currently mine is CM10 xD) and install it over ADB.
What does Install update via sideload do?!
You don't have to put your rom or flashing .zip file in your phone or SD card.
If you have it in your downloads folder (in linux) you just connect your phone to sideload on CWM6 and write in terminal (on your PC)
"adb sideload <.zip_file_path>" and you have it
Example. You have update.zip file in your downloads folder, so you write
adb sideload ~/Downloads/update.zip
So yah, i tried it, and as I said, it works falwlessly
PS. There are like NO bugs so I think this is going to be released tomorrow or so. Let's see what TheWhisp thinks
Re: [DEV] ClockWorkMod 6.0.2.8 - coming soon

It's compatible with all .zip files I have tried yet. It doesn't matter which zip file you try, it should work as long as the zip file worked in the previous CWM5.
cant wait for it...now its free from cwm loop .

Obviously it does. In fact, CyanDelta only make a flashable package, that you have to install manually from recovery. Then, yep.
BTW, now want also to make for you a Touch version of this CWM.

cyandelta installs the zip automatically too, if the recovery supports openrecovery script. TWPR does, and so does the CWM based recovery in CM sources. the original CWM from rom manager does not work properly AFAIK

It could be that CWM from Rom-Manager is out-to-date.
The only way it could not work, is because thi updated CWM still need some merging and commits by the team. Just try and let us know!

About Ubuntu, it's not that simple.
It seems 4X kernel from CM team does not load into the system.
Unfortunately, I cannot debug which is the problem surely: but I'm sure I'll return on it in a week at least. I've some thoughts about how to make it loading and booting next to the kernel!

As I understood CWM Touch is buildable only through clockworkmod-builder, and I'll do it. The only problem is that in that site, the sources are out-to-date, linked to 4.3 branches.
So, we have to wait, till CWM will update the sources linked in the site to build a 6.0.4.4 touch recovery.

Hey.
Just built a new build of CWM, now coded 6.0.4.5.
In this new release, CM team has apported an important fix - as also TWRP team has done - that avoid any issue while flashing some of KitKat based roms.
BTW, made a test build of CM11, gonna test it

Sorry, but there is something wrong with your setup. Personnally checked on SGP621 & 611 and it enters recovery successfully with cm12.1 and even cm13.
Have you flashed it with fastboot flash boot? Cause the symptoms are similar to this. If so, it won't boot. I think You might have to reflash by following the instructions in the OP.
It's not a standalone kernek, It's a FOTA one. It has to be booted by a firmware kernel by loading FOTA ramdisk.

could you also build for the new TWRP 3.0.2.0 ?
TWRP 3.0.2 Updated
Slightly mofified the ramdisk to enable TA and FOTA partition manipulations, but didn't get them displaying for now.
I am on stock rom 5.1.1. Using dual recovery 2.8.25.
Can i flash the img file with flashtool and then it will replace my old recovery?
Just to make sure.... scorpion_Windy is for wifi version and scorpion is for lte, is that right?
Will this recovery work if i flash it with flashtool after upgrading to android 6.0?
Anyone know how to root android 6.0?
Thanks in advance

I can say it wont really work with the 4.4 original rom. You have to be on 5 at least.

[twrp] team win recovery project 3.0.2.0

TWRP 3.0.2-0 is out now for all currently supported devices.
What’s new in 3.0.2-0:
Fix a bug with the input box that affected masked inputs (passwords). This fixes decrypt of full device encryption on devices that support decrypt. This bug also impacts encrypted backups. Users are highly encouraged to stop using 3.0.1 if you use encrypted backups or if you need decrypt of data in TWRP.
Add Greek translation to some builds.

Nope. It does not seems to boot up. Only black screen, then it reboots in android os.

Still same. Recovery not booting up.
Black screen for 2 second-->> reboots into rom.
One more thing what is meant by "ThunderZap kernel doesn't like being used for TWRP". Cause cyanogen mod kernel is coming with cm snapshot release 1.

Recovery is just a ramdisk put together with a kernel zImage. I used TZ5.2 zImage first time.
Your recovery boots, right? I'll try with your zImage, though would you mind telling me which zImage are you using ?

Use heimdall or flash the image in twrp ( there's a switch on the bottom I think ).

Yes, that's the codename of it.
Just two things I would like to report:
Brightness level doesn't work. It's always max.
Second, not sure if this is a recovery issue, I made a backup of the stock rom. The rom was pin protected, but after restoring it the pin was not recognized. So I had to reset device in order to use the back up. It erased my sd card too, but I had another external backup up of the data, so it was safe
New twrp!!! Flashing it now!!!

I forgot to fix that yesterday, I'll get that sorted out today ~ https://gerrit.twrp.me/#/c/2078
hmm, maybe I did something stupid here. Flashed the new twrp 3.0.3-2 through twrp and the tablet boots only in twrp now... the only selection I saw on which partition to flash was "boot"... so it boots only in recovery now

So, if I reflash the rom now without wipes, will it be ok to reboot to system?

Yes.
So, for the moment, who wants to flash this needs to use the official twrp app from play store.

Edit: @LuK1337 is so fast!!! A new fixed TWRP now! Forget the above...
