How to root tab s - Galaxy Tab S General

Use cf root method from note 10.1 2014 edition. Download the files for odin, flash using odin, and profit!

Is it the smt600 file from chain fires site. Or the 2 files from the note 10.1 2014 edition forum. I soft bricked when I did chain fire smt600 file. How to root.

Did it work for you. Cant seem to get it to work stuck on boot logo. Need to reodin stock rom.

Be mindful of the Knox counter. Knox might be an issue, if resale or return is a possbility.

Don't really care about knox I sold my tab pro for this. Problem is I can't root. I tried at least 5 times with the above method even tried the tab pro 10.1 cf root. Odin is success. But cant get pass boot logo. Is there something I'm doing wrong.

I haven't received my tablet yet. But has anyone tried towelroot?

Play it safe and wait for the Devs to come up with a safe root for the Tab S. No roms yet anyway so why bother?
Don't make a $500 paperweight because you were impatient.

+1, Exactly. I just experienced this. I tried the root method listed in this thread and it bricked the device. (It just remained stuck on the Samsung logo screen), Luckily I just picked it up yesterday and was still well within the return policy at BestBuy. I just got it replaced.
So YES, Please just wait until the DEVS post a root process which is tested functional for this specific device.
Just a warning/heads-up based on my very recent experience

I'd take it even a step further. Don't trust anything from anyone unless they have the xda dev symbol by their name. They are the only ones who have a long track record of putting out quality safe code. If some guy says "hey this is my first rom!", proceed with extreme caution. Might be fine and then again it might not.
These expensive toys break easily. Take this seriously.

I think mod should lock this thread because:
No pic of evidence
No link to the file
OP didn't state which Tab S model who uses.

How is that even possible with no stock firmware released?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

FYI, I tried towelroot on an earlier firmware and it appears to be patched. Simplest method here we will have to wait till the teams at TWRP or CWM create a recovery for our device and then we can just flash the SuperSU zip once that's out.
Nothing too hard since our devices aren't locked, just need some attention here is all.
FYI, I flashed the TWRP recovery from the Tab Pro and unsurprisingly it didn't boot into it.
I'm uploading latest stock firmware for the 8.4 model and hopefully should have it up tonight.

Base on the files inside the update, version should be P3113UEBLG2.

Hey,
very good work. But doesn’t works for me, because there is no German sales code in the CSC of the European Firmware. Is it posible to make a firmware, which includes the DBT sales code? There is a original French Firmware available on teamandroid which includes the western european codes.
Would it posible to make a rooted firmware based on this Version? This would be wonderful!
Many thanks,

How do you do this using the easiest method? Theres no instructions, just a zip file.
Do I just boot into stock recovery and then flash SuperSU followed by CWM? Is it more involved than that? The zip file also includes Odin so do I need to work with that as well? I dont want to brick my device.
*Edit* Nevermind, my work was blocking the video.

[s4 active i9295 intl. version] root

Lacking a dedicated forum for the (s4 active i9295 intl. version), I suggest collecting all information regarding root for this model in this thread.
We have learned that GeoHots one-click-root does not work on the i9295.
However, as the i9295 seems to have an unlocked bootloader, custom development should actually be easier for this model.
edit: just realized that due to s4-forum-confusion, this was posted in a sub-forum for canadian s4. To the Mods: Could you please put this wherever you think it should be? I just can´t make head nor tail of the s4-forum organization.

If your bootloader is unlocked this should be fairly easy. Just get a custom recovery flashed through odin and flash the root flash. I would look to the international S4 threads or tmobile threads.
What made the AT&T active so hard was lack of bootloader unlock
What I would try
1. Get the Odin flash for TWRP recovery for the s4
2. Flash it in ODIN and reboot into recovery
3. Once in recovery select reboot to system and it should prompt you to install root
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, THIS IS WHAT I WOUKD TRY IN MY DEVICE BUT I AM NOT A DEV

i9505 TWRP show same blue text, but shows black screen after that.
I think its time to wait some skilled developer taking this matter to his own hands.
The main hardware difference between i9505 and i9295 is:
1) camera, which obviously should not be a problem with recovery, and
2) screen (AMOLED vs. TFT) which might just be the issue we are dealing with here.
Does anybody know if TWRP can be reconfigured for our TFT size? I remember having similar issues with CWM for the Acer Iconia Tab 505 and 700, where different screen size in an otherwise identical unit rendered CWM unusable.

The latest firmware update for the AT&T S4 (NB1) does not yet have a direct root method. The obstacles for obtaining root on this phone (S5) and that phone are generally the same. So I would say root will be achieved on the S4 (newest firmware) before or at the same time as root for the S5. So I would say you are correct about it taking a little while.
I was under the impression that the CF-AUTO ROOT Method would work on the at&t SGH-I 337. Please advice

So does this method works in the S5? I think thats what you mean right?
Pretty sure safe strap requires root first on JB ROM, then flashing a pretty rooted kit Kat update.

No it doesn't sorry for the confusion this only works on the at&t galaxy s4
(Quoted from Chainfires Google+) That's impossible to predict, but I certainly wouldn't bet on it. It may take months or never happen. If root is important to you, get an unlocked device and be sure you'll have it.

That's are great tutorial.. I like it.
I just can't get myself to root. Anyone else with me? Every phone I've had I never had to worry about losing my warranty, EVER.
Think they will ever come up with a way NOT to trip the knox?

I believe they did it for the Note 3, so why not the S5?
thinking I will hold off a bit to see if any non-knox roots come out... not sure if I can wait that long though... I love messing with my android phones
Unrooting the device though Odin works in restoring your warranty. Doing so make it as if it never was rooted.
atlast I have rooted it successfully
In iPhone, I failed to jailbreak first time, because I updated iOS version 6 to ios7 from my device software update. (OTA=Over the air). Not by iTunes.
But that time solved the problem, by Restoring my device via iTunes. And then able to jailbreak easily..
Now my Question:
Since Galaxy S5 came in version 4.4.2...
But after using 2 or 3 days, an update was installed in my SMG-900H.
Update file size was about 25-30mb.
But still version no is 4.4.2, no change is there..
So will it cause a problem (like- iphone) , if I try to Root my Galaxy S5 first time?

yes you can root, but can't do any more updates after rooting. if you want to update in the future, you would need to go back to stock causing you to lose root, update, and then, root again after the update.
Hi,
I want to root my S5 as soon as I get it (as with all my previous Galaxy devices)
But , the rooting procedure makes the device "custom" and then Allsharecast does not work as far as I know.
Is there a solution to this for S5 ?
On the S3 and Note 8 , I had a modified lib file (libWFD_Engine.so) which fixed the problem of being a custom device.

Do you by chance know how to get a stock ftf (?) file which we can use in case root fails?
I am on UK H3G SM-G900F Android 5.0. Build number is G900FXXU1BOD3.
Thanks.
Guys, this thread is over a year old and is outdated now that Lollipop is out.
