Since the latest update for my phone the WiFi performance is just about useless. With a fresh factory reset and all. The problem is consistent over the many WiFi networks I have tried to use.anyone else run into this?

[Q] Wifi stockrom ICS

Since a few days I'm running the ICS stockrom on an unrooted Note. Before on the GB I was have not the best reception with Wifi, but it was working. Now, with ICS, my Wifi is connecting/disconnecting/connecting/and so on within a matter of seconds. I'm experiencing this on multiple Wifi networks. Therefore I would say it does not concern the settings of my Wifi network, also I'm practically sitting on the router (channel, reception can't be issue).
I've installed ICS via Kies and have done an additional factory reset today.
Does anybody know what could be the cause of this? And, more important, how to solve it?

Others have had similar issues - try reflashing the same modem from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645202
I found that wi-fi and data both worked better after flashing the modem a second time.
Thank you very much it seems to be working!!
I had to look to find out how to get the phone in download mode, but got it.
Sad to say I did an unneeded factory reset this morning, but yeah it is working now!
I've been also noticing momentary WiFi disconnections ever since I upgraded to ICS.
I'm using MyPhoneExplorer to transfer files wirelessly to the device (not via USB), and ever since ICS it has became an unreliable way to transfer files. If I transfer a big file most chances are that the WiFi connection will drop during the transfer, causing it to fail.
The connection is restored immediately but then I have to restart the transfer process as it halts when the connection fails.
I have excellent signal level (physically located close to the Access Point), I tried flashing the latest modem firmware (XXLR1) - twice, I've set "2.4GHz only" in the WiFi advanced settings, all to no avail: I still get these connection drops.
The same setup (phone, access point, etc) has all been working well in the past with GB. Now with stock ICS it performs poorly.
Has anybody got any information about this problem? Been experiencing similar problems?
Thanks!
I've been getting this issue too but it seems to only be with our virgin router, all other devices connected to it are fine although the signal is a bit crap on them to its at least stable
I tried the modem flash etc but no improvement, I'm pretty sure its the ****e virgin router

At my side it seems to be working better now, steps I've taken (in this order):
1. Flashing new modem
2. Enter fixed IP address for my home Wifi
3. At Settings->Wifi->Advanced->Leave Wifi on when enabled
Especially the last seems to have done me good. I have it working in combination with BatteryFu so it does not consume my complete battery.

Well, the AP that I had problems with is a relatively recent D-Link 802.11n router. Nevertheless, I tried connecting with an old Cisco 802.11g router, and lo and behold - connection is now stable.
So, looks like there is indeed some interoperability problems but I won't dismiss this as a "****e <X-company> router" - as the same router is working well with other clients, and moreover, was working well with this phone when it was running an older GB firmware.
My conclusion is that apparently somebody at Samsung / Google has broken the Wi-Fi drivers, interoperability-wise.

You probably mean leav wifi on when screen is off? My phone is already set this way... Anyhow, thanks, but it looks like this is a problem with a specific router as I wrote in the first part of this message.

All networks lag or not work after updating s6012 to jb

After updating my S6012 aka Samsung Galaxy Music Duos to JB by looking at this guide..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415442
My phone networks 3g and WiFi have lags..
In WiFi mode it connects but network is not found..
In 3g mode it takes so long to on even www.google.com..
Anyone else have same problems??
First time i did it worked fine then few days ago i sent the phone into bootloop and then did it second time two days ago..
Please help..
Did you factory reset after the install?
verify the connection first
Well i didnt factory reset and i use the WiFi network for some time now on my laptop without problems..
Now WiFi works for few seconds before it shows no connection.. It downloaded a 1.1mb file before the message came..
Any ideas why it is doing so??
Is it any settings or is it any root app??
Want fix soon as i need my android for mobile forum using..
I've found that many OTA updates cause weird issues if you don't reset afterwards, especially Samsungs. What did you do to make it go into a bootloop the other day? Is it all wifi networks that are having issues or just at home? Have you tried forgetting the network and relogging back into it and / or resetting the modem and the router if it is only at home? It doesn't matter if every other device is working, resets can often help if you have narrowed it down to just 1 network. As far as the 3G, it's hard to say. The modem/baseband also updated and not every version works best in every region. It's possible you might see if there is another version of 4.1.2 that would have a different modem to flash.
i tried activating softkeys in my rom by editing build.prop..
tried forgetting and relogging..
strange thing is 3g network lags less..
it's as if it is getting better as days pass by from flashing..
Working
I updated My ROM to CM10.1.3 by Alonso..
Now everything is perfect..

[HELP] Wi-Fi keeps dropping connection

Hello, everyone!
I've been reading a lot about Z1's Wi-Fi issues since I'm experimenting them a lot.
Connection drops constantly and I have to wait some time before it connects again. I have tried a few stuff, like apps who claim they fix your Wi-Fi (root), changing my security settings and other adjustments on my router, using a static IP for my phone... But nothing works!
Do you guys know any solution to this? I updated to the latest official firmware and nothing happened, and then I tried with a different ROM (MX's 8.5.0 Edition) but the performance of the Wi-Fi is still the same.
I'm using a Samsung phone in the same room as my Z1, and the Samsung phone gets perfect Wi-Fi signal and doesn't drop the connection.
Help me, please.
Many thanks!

Wifi Issue after updating to OREO..

I am using SM-N950F, rooted with SuperSU.. I am having WIFI connection issue since I have updated t OREO..
After few minutes my connections show Exclamation mark and "Internet mignt not be available" message..
There is nothing wrong with my router as is it working fine on other devices.. and it was working fine with Nougat..
Please anyone help me with this issue..
I have the same issue. Not found a solution yet.
It's annoying. I'm on unlocked btu btw
I have the same issue after the Oreo update... It worked for weeks after the update, and suddenly I am experiencing the same "internet might not be available" issue. It affects Play Store too, I am unable to download or update apps, they get stuck on "Downloading" and eventually fail.
It is very annoying. I hope someone has some way to fix this or some explanation at least...
My N950F is not rooted, I am using the XEF official ROM.
I've been having the very same issues, no matter which Oreo released I've used, hard resets make no difference either.
The only way I've been able to get around this is by setting the router to use TKIP instead of AES, it seems this is the issue as even when tethering (which creates a hotspot using AES too) the connected device drops connectivity too.
So in summary, try changing your routers encryption method to TKIP, it's not as secure as AES but at this stage, it seems to be the only solution I can find.
Same issue it's annoying and killing my battery
I had the same issue and was a problem with one modem, not with my phone, because at work the wifi sucked, drops, low speed etc etc, but back home everything was great (even faster than Nougat)
What I did was to change the wifi security settings, Encryption algorithm was "AES only", change it to "TKIP/AES" and the problema is gone.
Have you tried wiping the Cache Partition in Recovery Mode? If that doesn't work then I would recommend that you try a Hard Factory Reset
