I got boot loop on step 3.

Thats for the android S no wonder youre bootlooping. Hope its not hard bricked. Do as they said download a full FTF and flash that.

No problem dude
Just flash the proper ftf file and volla
New as you buyed it
Want to root it, use towelroot, install supersu but not from playstore and then install busybox installer from playstore and you're rooted

I'm trying to find the stock rom for the Xperia SP but it's not easy.

Open the back and turn off the phone using the little reset button inside (hold until is vibrates 3 times).
Then find a 205 version of the firmware (any will do really) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964 and then flash using flashtool. Hopefully it will work then and flash the ROM.
Then find a proper guide for xperia SP and try rooting again with towelroot.

I'm from india hence I am using. 205 ftf generic IN
And it's rooted
Find the appropriate ftf, download it
Download the flashtool, place the ftf in sub folder named "firmware" present in flashtool folder(where you've installed it)
Connect your phone in flashmode I.e press power down while you connect your phone to the computer (make sure phone is switched off before you do that)
Hit the thunder button, flashmode must be selected, press OK
Select the ftf and volla!
If it disconnects, keep trying coz it happens sometimes

Thanks for the help, I'm downloading this "Sony C5303_12.0.A.1.257_РСТ", none of them seem to have 205 in their names so... I hope this works.

OMG guys!! Thank you so much for helping me, the phone is now booting fine! But please don't leave me to do this alone, I'm dangerous when left alone
But I don't think I need hand holding, all I want to do is 1) root 2) unlock bootloader so that 3) I can install cyanogenmod (it seems to be the most respected custom rom).
OK so you guys mentioned towelroot I will now go look into what this is and how to use it. Thanks again!

You don't need to unlock bootloader
But if you do be careful
You'll lose DRM keys and is not reversible

no solution for unlocking BL with 11w29+?
hope can some one can do it with no hardbrick? im 11w48 im so sad because of my lock BL?
For the last time, please don't open such threads. You can unlock it but there's a high possibility that you'll brick it. You can get it done by the paid method, but I'm not sure how that's carried out. You can ask some other members (via PM, not by creating threads) who unlocked their bootloader via the paid method. That being said, if you try it and brick and come to us crying, we are not going to compensate for your loss. That basically means XDA is not to be held liable for any damage. You are on your own, but we will try to help.
Summary: It can be done, but the risk is too damn high!
at the moment there is not a free one.
Also why did you open a new thread? if there was one you would find it easilly
We're so losing hopes and have to watch every SDE, JB roms, and some awesome ixperia roms just screenshots.. Also we want to swap.. But we never can... So sad for the stock kernel.. ;(
I have 11w43 locked bootloader, too.. Don't sad..
I have unlocked my (11W43) with flashtool and all the flash Drivers installed and then at first i root the phone, after that i have installed xRec then i downloaded a rom and have it put on my SD and then i have make me sure that i have the Original Firmware latest firmware installed or you will brick your phone so or so . Now you download a Kernel for your "Rom" then you flash the Kernel via Flashtool and you go into the Recovery after the first start and install the Rom. I make a Video Tutorial for that if i have time .

i dont know how making these posts is going to solve problems for people who are let behind with locked bootloader. Instead of wasting your time try to find some 'work around' for it. Maybe you can come up with a solution. It is better than saying that we are losing hopes.

u will feel a little confused because u are on 4.1.2. u must search good to find the new root way , the old is not working anymore but there is still in here ( not everyone is on 4.1.2 ofcourse )
for bootloader the hard , maybe hard ( its not hard after you do it once its like child game ) part is to install the windows drivers for adb fastboot. custom rom is easy u wont even notice anything. u will click it and it will be installed in 10 seconds or less. i wont provide you the links. its better if u search hard because if anything happen in the future and you want to update or change rom you will start looking again for someone to help.

[Q] How do I change from 257 FTF to 534? Do I need to backup TA to only root ? -_-

Yes, I'm a newbie.
Anyway, I just got my hands on my fresh Z1 and now I want to install some apk and games.
Then I come to know that unblocking gonna kill my 20MP camera.
Can I just use Binary's root method?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
And the root install asks for 534 firmware. How can I upgrade from my 257?
btw, I'm just a PC geek...not much into Smartphones so...speak clear and loud if possible '_'
No need to back up TA if you just want to root.

Thanks bro, some of these topics were really helpful to get the meaning of somethings.
But, honestly I dont find how to downgrade
Im using the flashtool alrdy. I've downloaded a generic FTF but srly...I dont know how/where to install it. hahaha
When I try to use Binary's .exe it doesn't work, and im guessing thats because I'm using a 257 version.
On the flashtool i tried :ninja: to click on the "root" button and on some "Force XXXX root" but it keeps giving me error msgs.
What step am I missing here?
edit: nevermind, I'm starting to understand everything. this is a whole new universe!

nah what you posted was enough.
I'm doing just fine now. Its just that you guys use to "skip" some noobish step/description and something goes wrong. This is normal after a while working/talking/using those sw/fw/apk all the time
ex: To install the dual recovery by @krabappel2548
I got the install prompt doing nothing, not even an error or message. Why? Because no1 told in the instructions to unplug my device before installing it. hahaha
But my Z1 is already pimped right now loaded of themes and tweaks as I wanted

[GUIDE][HOW-TO][T/TX/V]Root Guide On Android 4.3 For Locked Bootloaders

IMPORTANT:
This method is now obsolete and not needed, we are able to root directly onto 4.3 now thanks to geohot, please see towelroot thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
OLD METHOD:
I see many threads about rooting Android 4.3, especially with locked bootloaders, along with many users getting confused about it so decided to make this guide on how to get root on your Android 4.3 device
Unfortunately there is no method to root directly on the Xperia T/TL/TX/V with Android 4.3, we must downgrade first!
Step 1, Getting flashtool installed:
You need to download flashtool and install the latest drivers, this can all be found here and here
Step 2, Getting your device running Android 4.1.2 which is rootable!:
You need to download a 4.1.2 FTF file, I recommend using this one if you are an Xperia T user,
Use this one if you are an Xperia V user.
Use this one if you are an Xperia TX user
although any will do as long as has a build number earlier than 9.1.A.1.141
Next what you need to do is open up flashtool which you installed in Step 1. Next click on the lightning bolt button which is the flash button, flashmode should be selected by default, click OK!
Now you are in the firmware selection area, navigate to where you downloaded the FTF file using the browse button in the top right.
Select the correct firmware, then click OK!
It'll process a bit, then will tell you to connect your device, firstly put your cable into the computer/laptop first, then hold down the volume down button on your device and connect the micro USB part to the device.
If all goes well it will start flashing, finish and tell you to restart the phone, the process could easily take 15 minutes, so be patient.
Step 3, Lets root the device:
Try rooting with the root option within FlashTool
Should that not work try this:
You want to download bin4rys rooting toolkit, which is found here and here
This part you will be walked through in the command prompt of the toolkit, it will tell you what to do and when, it is very simple!
Step 4, Now we're rooted, we want a recovery:
Now we need to get CWM recovery for locked bootloaders installed!
Download CWM installer here
Next extract the folder to somewhere on your computer, connect your phone to the computer, remember to allow unknown sources to be installed and to allow usb debugging, these can be found in 'security' and 'developer options' respectively.
Once done, double click on 'install.bat' and let the installer do it's magic.
If you have issues with this step, take a look at the 'Unable to enter recovery' section in the CWM for locked bootloaders thread here
Step 5, Download a rooted 4.3 update:
If you are an Xperia T user download from here
If you are an Xperia V user download from here
If you are an Xperia TX user download from here
Now transfer the package to the SD card on your device.
Next you want to power off your device, once that is done power back on, when you hit the first vibrate you should see a blue led, start repeatedly pressing the volume up button, the led should turn green and you will enter into CWM recovery.
RECOMMENDED: Now you are in recovery you should do a complete wipe data/factory reset, now this can be skipped but if it leads to errors and problems then you may need to go back to step 1, you have been warned!
Head to install zip from SD card and locate to where you downloaded the file, then flash the file!
Step 6, Enjoy:
You should now be all up to date with Android 4.3 and have root access, feel free to comment and ask questions in the thread if you are having problems or things didn't work as they should.
You also now should have PhilZ Touch Recovery installed which will allow you to install mods, make backups etc. To enter it is the exact same procedure as for CWM earlier on!

Fair enough, if it works for some people they can go this method. OTA updates with root isn't fool proof though so some users may find they loose it.
This is also more for people who have already OTA updated and don't have root

hey its me again
right now, i've done downloading all the required file.
just in step 5 (for xperia v) i only download LT25i.199_ch_deodex_root_philz_v1.zip

If you are on 4.1.2 then you can root and backup your data with Titanium Backup, If you're already on 4.3 and have to downgrade then you will have to wipe, otherwise you can get into problems
I don't have a copy, download an official release from the dev section and get the apk out the /system/app folder

yes, but if you tried the updated method and it worked with you it wont wipe any thing because that means your bootloader is already unlocked.
Can you make a PB2-650Y flashable zip? I use the 650M on a 650Y device and the radios gonne

sorry for taking me too long to answer. to be honest with you i tried this way over ten times with my phone and some of my friend. for me and some others it worked from the first time bout for others they had to go through the procedure more than one time till they succeeded. and as you see no one in this thread said if they tried it and if it worked smoothly with them or not.

just use the very last method ( if something went wrong )and you will have your phone working as new
i haven't tried it on your basband version. but did you reboot normally to Android first? if you did try to flash twrp again. I'm not sure if it will work with baseband cause as i said i haven't tried it on this update.

Hello,
I am having difficulties about flashing the TWRP recovery. I followed your step #3 procedure and successfully flashed the TWRP then I went to step #4 and I held the [power button] and [vol -] at the same time and selected the recovery option, then the stock recovery shows up instead of TWRP recovery.
My phone info.
Lenovo Phab 2 650M 6.0 Marshmallow
Baseband Verson : PB2-650M_A_V044_170726
Build number: PB2-650M_S040_170725_ROW

as i told you i haven't tried it on the new baseband.
i think it only works with baseband 170406 and earlier.

I have a question tho, how do you install the Xposed framework in this device? I found a installer from the files from the link you provided.
