SM-T700 Wi-Fi Exynos 5420 kernel?? - Galaxy Tab S General

If any user of 8.4" SM-T700 Wi-Fi Exynos 5420 model wishes to use a custom kernel, please post your boot.img here for me so I can extract the ramdisk. I'm not going to download the entire firmware 1-2 GB just for a few MBs....
The offer is here, and only for a short time. I will sync your T700 kernel build to same as my T705 LTE.
As I don't have the model to test, you will need to flash yourself before I publically release anything.
You can check out my latest work here : [KERNEL] [SM-T705 LTE] [07 July] SkyHigh TW Kernel [v0.2] [Synapse++]

I haven't too much time before i have to head away for about a month, I am sorry i just can't spare the time to download your 10.5 sources, extract then re-upload to github, then patch for every commit and compile (hopefully without errors).
It will be fairly easy to compile for the 8.4 wifi because using the same sources as my 8.4 LTE. All i need to do is a few commits for the wifi configuration file, recompile and and a few changes to the wifi ramdisk before re-pack boot.img.......

Thank you. I'll take a look over the next couple of days.
They need more than just the extracted ramdisk, but the complete source to go along with it.
As part of compiling kernels and releasing for public, am bound by GPL to make sources available. I could just tar up one big file, but by committing to a github repo shows exactly what I've done and may help myself and others. github can be a PITA , but worth the trouble (sometimes)

8.4" T700 WIFI Exynos tester needed
OK, nearly done, just need to sort out the ramdisk and re-pack.
Will ONE willing tester with 8.4" SM-T700 WiFi Exynos 5420 model and meet the requirements in my kernel thread. All should be good, but upload an Odin flashable stock T700 WIFI kernel as well
No newbies please need apply, you will need to know what you are doing and understand any risk involved (no matter how small)
EDIT: T700 SkyHigh & stock kernels are now ready for the tester.
You need to reply in this thread, and then I'll send you a link.
Thanks,

Under default conditions, I found CPU to hit the thermal limit quite easily. For benchmarking, you will need to have device quite cool (I DO NOT reccommed freezer). Maybe a slight UV will help with temp too, but be carefull.
Anyway, this is OT for this thread and I will close it soon.
I will release the kernel in my kernel thread to now support both 8.4" T700 WIFI and T705 LTE Exynos devices. Release versions will be v0.3
Thank you for testing :good:

Just a note, GPL dictates you must provide kernel source within 80 days of public release. I know we're not at that limit but thought I might say something since I didn't see source linked in the OP.

[KERNEL][KITKAT][KRT16S]Halfbreed Colors for Nexus 4

Apologies for the brief disruption. This is my first attempt at uploading my work on XDA so I wasn't aware of certain things. I have re-uploaded the kernel and the link the source.
Hi Everyone!
I compiled this kernel with just the PA Halfbreed Color changes in it. Here's the link to the commit that I pulled into this kernel. Thank you PA!
It is based on the stock Kitkat kernel (Branch android-msm-mako-3.4-kitkat-mr0). I had been trying to compile my own kernel for quite sometime using the Code Sourcery toolchain but the kernel always got stuck in a bootloop when flashed. This one is compiled using Google's pre-built toolchain. It works and I hope it will perform at least as well as the stock kernel.
Here's the source for the kernel with the Halfbreed changes: https://github.com/stevewilliam/kernel_msm/tree/android-msm-mako-3.4-kitkat-mr0
I am not into building recovery flashable zips. This is a boot.img (just named as boot_HALFBREED.img). The easiest way to flash it would be to boot into the bootloader and flash it using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_HALFBREED.img
It would be great if someone more acclimated to building recovery flashable zips can make one and upload!
Let me know how it worked for you or if you faced any issues. I have tried it and it worked for me when I flashed it over a KRT16S build. I would safely assume that this would work on KRT16O build too, but I don't know if it would work on any of the builds prior to Kitkat (we already have the original for those builds anyways :laugh
Enjoy and don't forget to hit Thanks! if you liked it or if it worked for you or if you simply feel like!

I flashed it on stock 4.4 and it worked fine. So it should work on stock 4.4.1. Let me know if anyone faces any issues.
Enjoy!
Please remember that this is not a recovery flashable zip!

Whats the difference?
New test builds if anyones interested.

zImage-dtb is the new kernel Image that has the device tree blobs(dtb) unlike the traditional zImage, it only builds with the stock config, etc.

As it has no Aroma or installer, you can use TricksterMOD / Kernel tweaker/ KControl or FauxClock from the playstore to tune the settings for this.
Here's a new link to the test kernels
Link
Try them all and see if it boots, one is in anykernel format.

Tried them all. They bring me to download mode. Don't know if I did something wrong. Also tried to wipe the caches before and after installation.

Lets do the testing here, I had the thread closed and I'll re-open it again once we got a booting kernel.

Alright, I started from scratch and removed some commits, lets see if this works. If it does I'll add some features one at a time.
Edit:
Added 4 zips to test, Leave feedback if it does boot or not.
One maybe stupid question. If the device did not boot with this kernel, how can i make it boot again without having the original kernel to install? I would like to test but i must have the way back to make the device working.

You need to reflash the stock kernel. Wait I'll upload a stock kernel for G900F
Edit:
Sorry can't find one, just reflash your ROM if you can, or do a backup first then if it fails just flash your back up and you'll be fine.
all four test zips end in downloadmode..

I lowered down to GCC 4.9 see if this boots. One is in anykernel format and one is boot.img. Hopefully it works now.

And so we wait
Maybe someone can upload just the kernel sources... So that we do not have to download the whole package.
Thanks in advance...
