Does Tab S 10.5 support Bluetooth AptX audio? - Galaxy Tab S General

Does anyone know if the 10.5 Tab S support the AptX codec for Bluetooth audio?
I can't seem to find it listed on any spec page but I noticed some other devices that support it don't list it in specs.
EDIT: Just realized I meant to post this in Q & A forum, can a mod move it for me please? Sorry.

It does support it. It's shown on the back of the box if you want to see for yourself.

[GSM][TMO] Bluetooth prfiles support in Tmo tab?

Going to experiment with SPP profile.
Does anyone have a list of all the Bluetooth Profiles that are supported in the Tmo Galaxy Tab with stock ROM? Seems like every carrier (except perhaps AT&T) has totally screwed around with the BT stack. So. Does anyone have a legit list of profiles on Tmo?
And Yes I googled and got lists from ars.samsung.com but none are for Tmo variant.

[Q] Audio chip

Hello, could anybody please confirm, if the S3 mini has a Wolfson DAC, just like the S3 and original Galaxy S? Of course I would like to continue using Voodoo Sound (and enjoy briliant sound), if I upgrade from my current Galaxy S
I think I googled quite a lot about it, but with no results
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi, this is a great question, I'm interested too.
I don't know everything about this stuff, someone may know more, but I don't think it uses the Wolfson DAC, here's why; it's running on ST-Ericsson's NovaThor chipset. If you can put proprietary audio on that, then it's news to me.
GSM Arena SGS3 Mini specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8190_galaxy_s_iii_mini-5033.php
AW: [Q] Audio chip
I second that. I'm very interested in getting sound as loud as on Galaxy S1.
Send with GT-I8190
soo, no one can confirm if it has a wolfson dac? its been a while now since the device is on this world, has anyone more expert check this out?
the net search doesnt give any conclusive results,so i highly doubt that is has Wolfson dac,but hopes die last

Maybe some will insert output from terminal of list of devices (I forgot exact command) from i8190 here?
can't believe this, hasn't still found out which audio DAC s3 mini uses???
it's likely STE made, as per http://www.stericsson.com/developers/CD00291561_UM1031_AB8500_user_manual-rev5_CTDS_public.pdf and the fact that /proc/asound/pcm contains the entries for ab8500 for playback and capture as well as a dummy device.

Yes, I'm fairly sure it won't be. However you can always use more advanced EQs like the one in PlayerPro or, for volume changes, any ALSA related app (YMMV).

AOSP doesn't support AVRCP 1.13 which is the version that introduced metadata support. Until it does, custom ROMs the devs have added it to are the only one's that'll display song/album/artist.
Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
This profile is designed to provide a standard interface to control TVs, Hi-fi equipment, etc. to allow a single remote control (or other device) to control all of the A/V equipment to which a user has access. It may be used in concert with A2DP or VDP.
It has the possibility for vendor-dependent extensions.
AVRCP has several versions with significantly increasing functionality:
1.0—Basic remote control commands (play/pause/stop, etc.)
1.3—all of 1.0 plus metadata and media-player state support The status of the music source (playing, stopped, etc.)
Metadata information on the track itself (artist, track name, etc.).
1.4—all of 1.0, 1.3, plus media browsing capabilities for multiple media players Browsing and manipulation of multiple players
Browsing of media metadata per media player, including a "Now Playing" list
Basic search capabilitieshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile

As far as I know, no n4 custom rom supports it until today. Google will most likely never update it, don't know what the heck they are thinking.
it's such an elementary feature. Can't believe it's not integrated....This really makes me mad.

What do you mean no custom ROM supports it?
I was waiting for someone to confirm if AVRCP 1.3 was going to be added in android 4.2.2 but now I'm planning on rooting and getting a ROM that does support this...
This is my most wanted bug fix for android 4.2.2, and I can't believe they missed it. Shame on Google.

I completely agree
Does anyone know of a stable mod that does have AVRCP 1.3?
I'm glad that I am not the only one^^
Please share this bug report as often as possible in other forums. Maybe if enough ppl will star this google will react - MAYBE^^
main reason
This was the main reason I was looking forward to the update...now, I'm sad. Guess I'm going to be forced to root now...anyone know when any of the ROMs will add this much needed feature?

That's all I was looking forward to also.
Its no wonder companies ignore their users when they needlessly and wrongly report bugs for something which is clearly not a bug.
If I was Google I'd ignore every single bug report which was actually reporting a missing feature.
For whatever reason, Google left it out, probably because its a niche requirement. It's not a bug.
thank god ur not google
maybe it's not the right category but at least I did something to point out that there's a problem and gave other ppl the chance to express their madness about this problem aswell.
And a niche? C'mon this is absolute standard nowadays and we can expect this from a 2012 smartphone when even my 2010 i9000 had it!

[Q] Certain features removed from previous generations?

It is obvious that the battery is no longer replaceable, but there are also other removed features.
I have been using a Galaxy S3 for a long time, because I wanted to wait for the S6 originally, but it turned out different than expected. I was also open for other phone brands.
However, I am wondering about why certain features from previous Samsung phones are no longer there.
Examples:
Radio - Could be useful to gather traffic information where signal reception strength is too weak (no coverage).
Air View - I looked forward to that feature, because it can give me a video preview like YouTube on the desktop computer. Apparently, that feature is no longer there.
Gestures - Didn't previous Samsung phones have some Air Gestures?
Thermometer - Allows temperature measurement.
Drama Shot - I don't care much, because GIMP and Photoshop can do it better probably.
USB 3.0 - Now, we have USB-C, gladly.
Water resistance - Gladly back again.
Battery size - Unfortunately not much improvement here, over the last years.
FTP file manager - I can use ES File Manager for that. No problem.
MicroSD - Is back again.
Infrared - Would really be nice.
Real home button - Is nice but I can live without it.
There were also other minor features I forgot to mention.
Here is a comparison between Galaxy S5 and S6: https://youtu.be/ksa5HKcqrW8

Now, why did Samsung remove certain features in the past such as Air View and Gestures?
I would have liked to own a phone with Air View.
Not sure anyone can explain the reasons for why Samsung does things. I assume it's based on market research, profit margins, etc. like any other business.
As sefrocko said, market research mainly
Is this thread about S6 or Note 8? Wrong forum?
Some examples seem incorrect for Note 8:
Air view is still here!
Radio depends on version, SD (e.g. N950U1) has FM radio.
I agree that with sefrcoko. Also, if you remove feature, you can re-introduce as new. Like multi-window was already possible with Note 2 and Note 10.1 in Android 4.2, disappeared and came back later..

This also applies to the Note 8.
I was originally looking for a general Samsung thread, not one for a specific Samsung phone, but I could not.
I posted at Note 8 instead of S9 because I can remember reading an article from Android Authority in late 2016. I will post the link below when I find it.

A test at a local tech store:
Yes, Air View does partially exist. However, in a diminished way.
Also AirView with fingers is removed.

You created 4 different posts, one after the other, all addressing the same one previous post. You could just have edited your first post and added the new information to that instead of creating extra, unnecessary posts.
on previous galaxy phones maybe like 4 years ago, the video app show thumbnails video all playing a short clips on the video.

AFAIK, it's integrated with Call Screen. Now, the option to view the transcript or hear audio displays, where just the transcript was available before. If you don't have call screen working , you cannot view transcripts or listen to audio. If you do and pick the call up, both transcript and audio do not continue. If you are talking about recording a live conversation, I have not seen that option in v.44 nor was I aware that was planned. Did you get call screen working?

Unfortunately we aren't going to get a guide on how to enable this. It's the same case with the new file sharing (air-drop equivalent) that was "hactivated" a few days ago. It was deemed to be pointless to share how we can all get these features by the guys that figured out how to enable them. AKA they have no intention on spreading the wealth with us, so we have to just wait for Google to drop these features.

It indeed does. Let me just state that what I said was not my opinion or my thoughts, it was from one of the guys that helped figure out how to enable these. I tried appealing to him about how many of us actually can benefit from him sharing knowledge of how to enable these but I didn't get responded to. All in all, they are the ones that put the work in to figure these out, so they definitely have the right to not share if they so please. I just hope they either change their minds or someone else figures this out and decides to share with us. I've been putting a little work in here and there when I have time and have found some potentially promising leads bit we will see.
