[KERNEL][Stock][3.4.102][15/08/14] hor1z0nKernel - R6 - Moto E Original Android Development

Hi guys,
I'm by no means a pro at kernel building but I've put lots of effort into this kernel so I thought I'd share it with you. I do not own a Moto E so I haven't had a chance to test it. The kernel is still in testing stage and built with Cortex-A7 optimised (custom built) Linaro 4.9.x toolchain.
Hybrid kernel means the core although still has the 3.4.x kernel label, it has incorporated many advanced features available only on Linux 3.8+ and beyond. I have backported many of those advanced features for Linux 3.4, hence the name hybrid!
The main objective of this kernel is too keep everything up-to-date along with being reliable and and providing excellent battery life.
This is for Stock ROMs only. Please don't report any issues if you are using a Custom ROM.

@Hetalk for screenshots and testing.
Note: On Android File Host, it says hor1z0nkernel.img for moto g but it's actually for Moto E. There is no section yet for Moto E so I had to put it with my other test files in the Moto G folder.

I'd surely try it out if it would work on 4.4.4.
I understand sources aren't out. I'll wait.
Here's a link to stock 4.4.4 kernel.

RESERVED!!

@newhor1z0n currently i have too much imp data on Android 4.4.4 if not then i definitely flashed the 4.4.2 nd test the kernel,I'm just want to say thank u cause u added exfat support as requested.I'll wait for sources.I'm sorry due to my connectivity issues I'm unable to provide u with boot.img...?

Sorry newh0riz0n, i restored to d stock kernel once I found d Sims weren't working. Im really sorry :crying:

You switched to the stock kernel? Do you have the stock boot.img?
Also, are you using the Dual SIM variant of Condor?
Please try this zip for testing if dual sim works.
UPDATE: Please try this zip.
Note: This will flash the kernel rather than just booting it so please keep the stock kernel at hand just in case something goes wrong and you need to get back.
Edit:
Fixed link.
If it does work, some screenshots would be welcome.
Also, if it doesn't work, please get me a logcat from adb.
Edit 2:
Added link for just boot.img for xt1022 just in case you don't want to flash the .zip although I'm not entirely sure this will fix the no network problem.
Try and boot it using fastboot and see if the problem is addressed.
Grab the link for XT1022boot.img here.
Boot it using:
Code:
fastboot boot xt1022boot.img

Moretz Kernel 0.2.2 - Galaxy Note 8.0 EditionGT-N5110 & GT-N5100
Features:
Linux 3.0.101
Frandom
Network speed enhancements
Dynamic read ahead
CPU OC to 1.8GHz
GPU OC to 533MHz
CPU Voltage Control (OV/UV)
Tuned ZZMoove CPU governor (removed all other governors)
Intelligent CPU core hot plugging
Touchboost control, set to 800MHz
ARM CPU topology
LCD frequency switching (40Hz on screen dim, 60Hz on active)
Intelligent GPU scaling (Mali GPU control)
Lots of other fixes/tweaks
Intelligent zipalign at boot (init.d)
Intelligent sql db optimization at boot (init.d)
So, what's so special here?
A few things actually. I grabbed various code bits from many well known developers and worked some of my own magic on this build. First, I bumped the kernel up to 3.0.101 (FINAL) form kernel.org as a base on top of the stock CM 11.0 kernel. Once I pushed all of the enhancements listed above, I focused on tuning ZZMoove to balance performance and battery. I believe I've succeeded in that realm, so all other governors have been removed. This is a flash and forget kernel package. That's what makes it special ... the users do not have to do any tuning, it works, and it works well.

3. Flash the zip
4. Reboot
5. Done
I like to make things simple. Let your device boot up and that's it. No configuration necessary. But, if you want to screw with the CPU governor and ZZMoove settings, I made that easy for you. Just edit the zzmoove file in your init.d directory with the settings you want and reboot.

How to properly report bugs:
When reporting a bug, you must provide me with some very specific information so that I am able to either reproduce the problem or diagnose it based on logs. If you cannot provide information that I need, I cannot attempt fix the issue.
If the device is crashing:
Please make a copy of your last_kmsg immediately after rebooting the device.
Please make a copy of your logcat for the subsequent reboot.
Attach both files to your bug report and specifically state exactly what happens (are there steps to reproduce it?).
In all cases, please provide a logcat of when the issue occurs or specifically describe what is happening and how you can reproduce the error.
If you have any current issues prior to flashing my kernel, don't expect me to fix them.
The more detail you provide, the more helpful your bug report will be for me.
Feature Requests:
I'll make this one easy, I don't do feature requests. I used to do that, it became a real pain in the ass to keep everyone happy and the project I was working on bug free. Put simply, I put this together to work specifically for me and then decided to share it here. If at some point I decide to add new features, then I'll release new versions to you.

Would you be willing to test? Only reason I didn't publish for n5100 is because I don't have one to verify that I didn't break anything.
I just have to update a few configs and run a new build, let me know.
as an owner of the n5100 I´ll be very interested in your work. so my first question - will this kernel work with probam 1.3.2? maybe I could test it

I suppose it should, I did a quick check and looks like that ROM uses the same base 3.0.y kernel that CM 11.0 does. The partition scheme on the devices is the same too (both devices us /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 for the boot partition) ...
There's only one real way to find out though, someone has to flash it - worst case is that it doesn't boot up.
Go ahead and give this a rip and let me know how it goes. It's the same build as the OP with the 5100 defconfig updated to include the features that I added for the 5110.

If it doesn't boot, just reflash your previous ROM - that'll replace this kernel with whatever one is included there.
Yeah, kernel runs nice So I`ll kept my device on standby, make a wow raid and check the battery stats
Thx for your hard work
Assuming all goes well, I'll update the op to state that both devices are supported and working.

Awesome...is there any plan of implementing cpu and gpu overclock along with fast charge?
I know you told all KitKat Roms are compatable I'm just still asking will it work with the official Paranoid Android

Surprises are coming but can't confirm anything. Only features which prove to be stable in my testing will be there in final release of kernel.

Okay i think ill flash cr droid and then post my thought on the kernel...But i have a noob question...(pardon me for that ): How does the C-ROM update have anything to do with the compatibility of the kernel?
Great, another awesome kernel, we have more and more concurrency here
BTW. Can u please share your github in first post? would be nice to see what magic was put into ur code
Cheers.

@dhacker29 recently updated adreno and GPS blobs and made changes in kernel for their compatibility. That's why old ROMs aren't booting with latest up to date kernels.

What's the point to add cpu governors without hotplug support?

I can not test this now because i'am on EMUI 2.3 , up- downgrading take to mush time so if someone is willing to test this here is the new boot.img. install via CWM.
zImage is compiled correct with no errors but maybe i need the right boot.img for this so we must test this! This was really hard work to fix all bugs i have spend about 3 hours for this
NOTICE: NO INIT.D SUPPORT AND SET.IMMUTABLES IS PRESENT! THIS A TEST!

No, the old one is working
Today i was able to build CM 11 without errors for the p7. But it is bootlooping because of the sound problem what surdu_petru was talking about.
So I must search for the problem and maybe ask some one with more knowledge about huawei as @codeworkx
But when the build is booting we can then finally see how the system is running and how many bugs are in it.

I am NOT responsible for any damage done to your device, your neighbor, or any other things you like/hate.
Introduction:
@myself5 and I were in need for a custom stock kernel to mess with. Since all the available Options were not fitting our needs, or gave us bad experience on some aspects, and we knew about Zombie Kernel from Tom, we decided to start working on that. So I brought up support for the Z5, we ported Kexec to it, updated it to 224 and added various things. Since the kernel gave us very good experiences, we decided to make it accessible to the public.
About:
This Kernel is based on @Tommy-Geenexus Zombie Kernel. He was ok with us continuing/porting his projects, so myself5 and I started to create the "oshmoun Myself5 Zombie Kernel" aka OM5Z Kernel.
Features and Commit History:
Check 2nd Post!
Installation Instruction:
THIS DOES ONLY WORK ON UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER!
You can either flash the provided boot.img via fastboot, or flash the zip in recovery.
Additional Information:
The Kernel is underclocked by default. Both Cluster are underclocked to 1,344/1,536 GHz respectively, resulting into HUGE Temperature improvements. However, due to public demand, V2 features the ability to disable the underclock (in case you need to make some baked Eggs real quick, whatever). All you need to do is run this code after boot (Kernel Adiutor has the abilty to execute scripts at startup, just a reminder).
Code:
echo "0:4294967295 1:4294967295 2:4294967295 3:4294967295 4:4294967295 5:4294967295 6:4294967295 7:4294967295" > /sys/module/msm_performance/parameters/max_cpu_freq
What it effectively does, is resetting the max clock limit for each core to the default (unset) values, allowing you to set whatever frequency (from the ones available ofc) you want.

Additional Information:
Some stock kernels require different Recovery Images than AOSP Kernels. We set an end too this, and fixed init_sony, rather than using some very outdated software which somehow works. This means, you might need to use a different recovery with this kernel if you're currently on a "stock" recovery. We're hoping that other stock kernel devs adapt our solution, so we can set an end to the old scripts.

Which TWRP 3.0.2 recovery are you using? I use oshmoun's MultiROM TWRP, and it works very well! (You don't need to install or use the MultiROM part of it.)
Thanks for your great work. I ran into an issue with root acting weird after kernel install. It actually messed up binary folders. I have no idea how but apps were getting root denial with this awesome kernel.
Intsallation went ok with twrp 3.0.2.0. So no issues there.
Have you guys noticed this kind of behaviuor with the kernel?

ok sorry about that. I think I should update the recovery thread to mention that it's not maintained anymore.
Yes there is a device check, but usually if that fails then it would tell you what it was expecting (in this case that'd be suzuran, E5823, E5803).
Could you please try the multirom recovery. It's basically TWRP only with multirom additions. The multirom recovery works pretty well regardless if you have multirom installed or not.
Good to see another kernel in the panorama! As soon as i get the latest MM update, i'll surely test it.
However i'm interested in the standby consumption during night, did you test it? every stock based kernel-rom combination seems to be plagued by high drainage even in offline mode without particular wakelocks

hi, i already did overclocking the kernel and did a gaming test with oc kernel. i wont do it again because of how hot and unstable the phone is when it throttles. because i will be the one who will blame if the phone is broken because of overclocking, i hope you understand.

Howdy PL also add ext4 on micro-sd card mounting via vold . ALL custom ROM - GSI Lineage etc support it. i.e. support ext4 FS for mounting . Then I can flip SeLinux 1 . I have to run it 0 cos of SeLinux Policy issues. Can you PL point me to some online guide of how to compile new SeLinux Policy rules ?
