E-ink screen case now available on KS - G2 Accessories

Hi, I just ordered one of these
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/378232716/inkcase-plus-e-ink-screen-for-android-phone
Then you can vote for the LG G2 version, it's basically Bluetooth so you'll be able to use it wireless!

"Now Available" is a bit misleading.... if anyone is familiar with Kickstarter at all, you'll be lucky if you get the product within a year of the last day of funding.

This looks Awesome.
i want one. Definitely will save battery.

Change topic title, it's misleading. This isn't anywhere close to being now available not only is it not out but you have to vote for which phones get it, G2 getting it isn't even guaranteed.

The case is a small part of the device, the whole thing being a tiny portable bluetooth second screen is still very cool I posted here to get more interest in the G2 version... I'd use it even without the G2 variant but you can always cancel your pledge last min if they don't offer a G2 at the end of the campaign so no risk in loosing out...

There we go, a small edit to the title is all it took..
seriously, if you're not interested in it then dont buy one... Simple lol

Our smartphones are big enough. Not for phones but for tablets it would be feasible.

well, better have a kindle...

Better get a LG G Pad

**OFFICIAL** What Phone Should I Buy?

Attention!
In light of all the posts that are deleted and/or closed due to many off-topic posts about what device a person should buy, I have created this official thread.
Although XDA is not a place to extensively talk about what device person should buy, some forums permit it. So to help keep the threads a little cleaner, you may post your questions here.
Granted there are other sites more into device reviews and comparisons, but in the interest of keeping some people happy, and to avoid getting posts deleted, this thread is created for people who have no idea what device to get.
In the end, you should still march your happy self to a shop, and play with the devices that are available. Only then will you be satisfied with your purchase.
Any posts elsewhere asking such questions, that should be in this thread, will still be deleted or closed. This includes posting multi-duplicated posts in several forums outside of official threads.
Thanks, and Hope you use this.
Since I'm having problems with the LG Revo, my question is should I wait for one of the quad-core phones to come out, or grab a droid razr or google nexus?
I'm a bit new to the android scene, and just wonder how much of a difference do we expect to see in terms of power between the current phones and quad-core.

Love the Revo Community.. if I could I would buy all of you guys HTC ReZounds which I now have. It is a damn good phone.. I know not the absolute best but what is best now will only be one-upped next month and so on.

Better than having this phone. Would do about anything to get a new phone that has better support.
just got an offer from verizon to get a new phone....
those of you that were able to switch, did verizon say the rarz maxx was excluded? did they also say that removable batteries and battery doors were not included for certain phones?
Hi everyone!
This is my first post here,so I am sorry if I am not supposed to post this question somewhere else.
Well,as the title says,I need your opinion for a purchase I want to do on a Android smartphone.
To be honest I am confused!
Okay to be more specific, the phones I really liked most are the following :
1)Samsung Galaxy S III
2)LG OPTIMUS 4X HD P880
3)HTC ONE X
And there is one rumored :
4)LG LS970 Eclipse 4G LTE(not compatible with my country's carriers, but I believe that this phone will be released to other countries too)
Now you might be wondering why am I looking for rumored phones, well consider this as a stupid thing that I always do with things I want to buy.
According to the budget,I will say that I can give 500-700$
I want the phone mostly, for emails, organizer, calendar, browsing on the internet, movies and most important for development.
So which one you recommend?I have heard tons of things for each phone. Please justify your answer. It would be really helpful!

Either the Htc One X or S3 don't ever buy an LG
Thank you for your answer. What is wrong about LG phones?Which one do you prefer most Htc One X or the S3 and why?
I noticed that the thread is in LG Revolution thread.I think I messed it up!
I think I've had enough.
I finally get my Revo where I want it, but continue to run into issues with accesories and a little ticked about no ICS. So, I plan to call Verizon and convince them to give a new phone. With that said it looks like the 4G options(No LG) are as follows:
1) RAZR MAXX
2) HTC Rezound
3) Galaxy Nexus
I'm looking for a good phone with a lot of support here on XDA. Any advice would be appreciated.
Nexus
Galaxy Nexus
I am never buying another LG. Im sticking to Motorola or HTC! This is my first android phone and while I appreciate the dev suppor here LG has totally let us down on this one. Plus Motorola and HTC have a way larger following and how HTC allows unlocked bootloaders im impressed!
LG Spectrum
The LG Spectrum seems like a quality phone. It's the big brother of the Revo and has ICS

But it'll never have the Dev support of say an Htc or Samsung phone.
Does anyone know if any plans to bring the Samsung Note to verizon at all?
In light of the new verizon unlimited plan policy, where should I buy a new phone, and which is best bang for the buck?

The "Sold This Phone" Thread!

I have just sold this phone early, in anticipation of the Nexus 4! Reason being, more and more LG 4X HD's are popping up on ebay every day; so I decided to get rid of mine ASAP before it devalued.. The phones firmware has more than a few 'niggles' and developer support is getting less likely every day; so I can see why a lot of people will abandon this phone - particularly with such a cheap alternative soon to be available!
SO, in a backwards take on the usual 'Who has ordered this phone'.. Who has sold or is trying to sell this phone??
I don't understand how this thread is meant to benefit anyone here?
After 2 replacements I gave up the Galaxy Nexus and got the 4X HD instead. The Nexus had terrible screen dis-coloration issues, and the limited internal storage was a pain to manage. Even without JB I don't regret purchasing the 4X HD.
While I can see why you're making the jump, just remember - the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
wtf with this thread...
The phone is good. It'll be updated to JB soon (12.2012-Q1 2013), it has great hardware too, so what's the matter?
The only disadvantage is locked bootloader, but i hope that it'll change soon.
..unless people are looking to pilfer a good phone from some ditz who sells it for something more iphone-y -- probably not very helpful, no.
WTF Stupid thread...

Who is staying and who is leaving?

So with the Nexus 4 around the corner, I'm sure a lot of us are wondering if we should keep messing with this phone. The Nexus 4 is 300 bucks for the 8gb version, so you could sell this phone and get 150-200, and cover the rest. It is completely unlocked and has higher specs all around than this phone (besides no LTE which may stop me from buying it). So I was wondering how much of this community will stay with the AHD. It's a great device, especially with the new battery, but is it worth not be able to flash as many roms as possible to it? Let me know your opinions and help me make up my mind! If I do decide to get it I will have a AHD with the battey mod, otterbox, TPU case, hdmi, and Zagg screen protector for sale lol. But seriously anyone open to speak their minds? I don't know what to do!

Given the lack of a working recovery at this point. I'm giving serious consideration to picking up a N4 as my primary, and keeping my AHD as a backup.
If you read the reviews on the N4, in spite of the newer hardware, it still gets spanked by the One X, and the S3. HERE on Anandtech.
Knowing that my phone spanks both the OneX as well as the S3 like a red headed step child, it's going to be tough moving to a somewhat slower phone, but having a working recovery to backup, and flash my ROMs as updates occur is much more important to me

Ah, do you see any chance of us getting the bootloader unlocked? It looked like Matt was making good progress, I'm guessing that is when he bricked his phone, although I dont know for sure. Or do you think this phone will end up getting left behind completely. I really like this phone, but I am tired of moto already. Seriously, coming out with a dev version 4 months after the retail???? With NO word it will ever come out. That is absolute bs. At least let us trade in out retail version for the dev version (obviously with a small upgrade fee, maybe 50-100 bucks). I would be fine with that and it would be do able for them.

I don't know wtf Moto is up to lately?!?
I was reading that there's a "brick wall" between Google and Moto, meaning that Google bought them for their patents, and they refuse to show any bias towards them in fear of pissing off other phone manufacturers.
I sure wish Google would rethink this strategy, and start building phones that really blow anything else out of the water.
They have the OS, and they now own a company that has the "potential" to build the best phones out, yet they keep frigging things up.
I know I'll never purchase another Moto phone until/unless they start rethinking their strategy, and at the very least stop encrypting the signatures for the bootloaders.
Just my .02c

From reviews, it suppose to be pretty high quality. Also is suppose to feel nice in the hand. With that said, still a good point and something to look for.
LG's build quailty is under-rated. Same as with any hobby or whatever you call this phone obsession. People look at price and give it a bad name. I think LG started turning the corner with the Nitro. It was a solid phone. Nothing compares to Moto though with build quality. But I think LG beats Samsung and HTC.

Haha I agree, I will be giving it a few more months! I have decided to wait lol
I'll definitely be sticking with the Atrix HD. I was a flashaholic on my Atrix 4G so I was disappointed that this phone has a locked down bootloader. On the other hand, I've had absolutely no complaints about this phone especially where battery life is concerned with the EB40. Having all the power that this phone has to offer with excellent battery life is just what I needed. This phone has completely replaced my computers altogether. As for the bootloader, Hashcode has already done tremendous work on getting safestrap working for our devices. Why worry about a locked bootloader when we can get around it with safestrap? Isn't the point of an unlocked bootloader to get a custom recovery for flashing and isn't that what safestrap hopes to do without the need for unlocking the bootloader? I won't be giving this phone up anytime soon and I look forward to getting a Paranoid Android build going for it.

I haven't had a reason to root honestly. I don't have the time for it anyway. Flex is the 1st phone I haven't had to mess with it. Just like their software better than anyone else's. From their knock on/off code to the pop up SMS and phone calls, its slick.
Checking on the g3 next week in the stores and go from there. Need a smaller phone for pocketbility.

Totally agree, they put some good thought into the software. They're actually useful features on the Flex unlike other phones out there that bost about no touch or eye navigation doesn't work worth a lick.

The G3 is not that much smaller than the flex, man...smaller yes, but not alot.
How do you know? The g2 is way smaller and the g3 isn't much bigger than the g2....I know, I have two of them. It will be way more pocketable. This thing sticks out with deep pockets.
the G3 is 5.5 inches,vs the 6 inch flex, so not sure if 1/2 is small enough to make it pocket able for you..yep, g2 would work, as would a M8, as far as easier pocketability
As big as the Flex is I don't think it's that bad. I stream music with my Flex in my shorts when I mow the grass all time. I have baller shorts though and not tight ass girly shorts. haha Not saying you have tight shorts Jesse. lol
Do you guys think developers will be able to unlock the bootloader on the G3? I know I should just wait but now you guys have me thinking on trying the M8. I thought about it before but never could pull the trigger. I think I would miss the big display of the Flex. I sold my Nexus 7 because I wasn't using it since I bought the Flex.
i think eventually the G3 will be unlocked, because so many more people will end up getting it, it wont be a "niche" phone like the flex is, but who knows how long it will take.LG isnt dev friendly, so its not like they will do anything to help the process, unlike HTC, which actually makes it super easy to unlock your phone.
I've had a few HTC Phones now, and they are definitely the most developer friendly of them all; check the M8 threads and see there are dozens of roms/kernels/tweaks..plus the M8 screen is very nice, and of course that phone has the best sound of any phone out now, so that makes it better for someone who likes music.
I'm def going for a M8 when my jump is here in a few weeks, and if the note 4 is mind boggling, or if the damn Sony phone ever comes here, I might use another jump for that, but since my wife and son will get G3's, I can always mess around with theirs if I miss LG for any reason..
The LG G2 had a lot of development before KitKat. I think KitKat was more locked down but not sure how development is for the G2 now since I stopped reading after I got my Flex.
Not sure I care all that much about the M8 speakers since I usually always wear a headset.
T-Mobile G3 comes unlocked from the factory and almost already has a recovery. Thanks for the news D-Fuse and all that your doing for the Flex. :good:
I'm not even sure how the Jump works. I'm on the original Jump. I was thinking about ordering it through T-Mobile so in case I didn't want to keep the G3 I can just return it and still have my Flex. Not sure you can do that though.

I know that... I thought I read that someone used a Jump online while ordering a G3.

LG V20, awesome potential deal for returning Note 7

Just this morning I read finally about pricing on the LG V20.
So they are offering at least 200 trade-in credit on a traded in 4g phone. The price for mobile customers is 769. Combined with the 25 credit from Samsung, this should effectively drop the price to 545. Can anyone confirm this? 800+ is ridiculous for The v20 imo but 545 will work until the possible new Note comes out. One can even make this a better deal of they sell the new headphones that will come with the v20 for 100, making the v20 445. And if you sell the, say sd card you got for the note 7, that drops the v20 to 345! Damn!
Thoughts?
That doesn't work, you aren't accounting for returning the Note 7. You can't both return it for a credit and use it as a trade in.

What does this have to do with the V20? This could apply to any device.

Regardless of actual value, the 4g phone will get at least 200 bucks credit. That deal is only for the v20 as far as I know.

It's familiar but small. The s cloud helped. It is what it is at this point. We are dropping like flies.
I considered the LG V20 but the guy in the forum that has it made comment on the battery being so so, I said screw it and stuck with the evil I know.

I'll wait and see how the battery life pans out. The beauty of the V20 is that I can slip a battery in and keep on stroking.
Would they take a windows pay as you go phone for trade in?

That is great and all but without good battery management, I'm still stuck at a charger.
Lgv10 despite interchanging battery, found myself swapping out 3 times a day with in 10 hour usage between driving to work and driving back from work.
The point being, every other manufacturer put good effort into making their battery good but I feel LG gotten lazy because its "removable". Great and danty but that is no excuse to be lazy when other's with less battery are holding their juice much better. What I can do on another device full charge, I will need a full LG battery and a half to do the same.
Imagine if they were good AND removable? We shouldn't let them get lazy...HTC got lazy with the m9 = bummed. Samsung got lazy with note 7 = that thing was simply recalled. And a lot of people I know do not use LG due to their battery...I really hope to give this one a try with tmobile deal going on and everything.

So my understanding is Tmobile pays you whatever they pay for the device. If it's under two hundred LG will send you the difference. I didn't read the fine print, you may want to go check that out but all the ad says is 4G (HSPA), ymmv
I went in and ordered a V20 yesterday. I already have an email from T-Mobile that states that my $200 promotion has been approved. It will be mailed to me in 2 to 3 weeks. And the phone I used? a T-Mobile My Touch Slide 4G. I just brought it in and the rep called customer service. I still have the phone with me. I just have to turn it in when I get my V20 and return the Note 7.
If att would have a deal like this I might jump on the v20. Then again att is charging over 830 for the same phone. I don't get why att charges more for there phones. Same happened with the note 7 regarding price.
