Seeking iptables/netfilter supporting Kernel for the LG OPTIMUS L90 D415 - LG Optimus L90

I want a v3.4.x kernel for the LG OPTIMUS L90 (D415) that has iptables/netfilter built in. The phone image shown by this forum in the index looks most similar to my phone model, can anyone recommend a kernel?
With my Sprint Epic I would use a tool called Odin, is the method of flashing a kernel to this phone the same? Can anyone get me the instructions on how to do it properly?

Odin is for Samsung devices that much I know. Sorry can't help with the rest.

I've already answered this question in another thread that you created. Creating double threads is against the rules at XDA.
Without unlocking your bootloader you can't flash another kernel or anything else for that matter. We still haven't devised a method to unlock the bootloader on the L90 - D415. I'm sorry if you didn't like my answer in your other thread, but that's the answer to your query.

[HOWTO] root Koodo version of Optimus One P500h 10v

!!ATTENTION!!
THIS INFORMATION HAS BECOME OUTDATED.
There are probably newer and easier ways of accomplishing your goals that are now available. Read the entire thread for tips from other people about how to get your phone rooted - their suggestions are likely to be better options for your needs. I will not be maintaining this thread, but I will leave it up as a record for others to read. Good luck!

Hi. I had trouble getting my Optimus One from Koodo Mobile rooted. So, here is some info that I hope will help others get through the process a bit faster. I mainly followed the instructions in various threads from XDA, but I needed to do things differently.
!!! REMEMBER, THIS IS INFORMATION FROM A BIT OF A NOOB. I'M JUST TRYING TO HELP.
!!! ALSO, I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY FOR ANYTHING GOOD OR BAD THAT COMES FROM APPLYING WHAT IS SAID IN THIS THREAD.
!!! THIS INFORMATION IS ONLY INTENDED FOR USE ON THE OPTIMUS ONE FROM KOODO MOBILE RUNNING FIRMWARE VERSION 10v.
It is probably not worth asking me any questions, since I barely got through the process properly myself.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Drivers
So, first I installed the LG PC Suite software because I think that gets you the USB drivers needed for this phone. I think LG calls it "Download LG Mobile Support Tool to PC" on their support site at:
http://www.lg.com/sg/support/product/support-product-profile-mobile-redux.jsp?customerModelCode=Optimus%20One%20P500&initialTab=drivers&targetPage=support-product-profile-mobile-redux
Telus 2.2 firmware version V10G_00
So, since android 2.2.1 is not rootable on Optimus One, I had to downgrade to android 2.2. I found a link to a Telus version of P500h that is android 2.2 at the following link (make sure you download the one that ends in "V10G_00.kdz"):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12253960#post12253960
Installing Telus firmware using KDZ
I followed steps #2 through #8 from the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
KDZ worked well, just so you know.
Rooting
Now I used "z4root" to permanently root. It was super easy (way easier than rooting my MT3G Slide). z4root is NOT in the market anymore so you need to sideload it onto your SD storage, then install it with any apk manager.
This site:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
led me to this site, where I downloaded z4root from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
After that, I was all rooted up... finally.
So, I obviously am NOT trying to take any credit for the real efforts made by others. I want to say thank you to all people involved with the links and programs I referred to. I really appreciate what people do for others here at XDA. My phones would not be rooted or other kinds of fun without those people.
THANKS!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a bit of a side note, you might want to unlock you phone too... so you could use it with FIDO, etc. So, I used a site called "mobileincanada". It was $20 and took less than 24 hrs to get the code. I was happy with that.
Nice write-up, I had to follow a similar path. The most trouble I had was finding a firmware that worked.. I ended up using the same TELUS firmware. It works great, much faster than the original Koodo firmware.
Sorry for my question: what is the difference between your P500h and the other P500 devices? is it a branded device with special firmware?
I thought, all P500 can be flashed with every P500 *.kdz (for country) or XDA ROMs
for P500
I wished you wrote this yesterday but thanks. I figured it out yesterday . This is the sickest 150$ phone I have ever had. I get 1100 quadrant score :O
If you want a stock, rooted 2.2.1 (Telus V10S - same as Koodo's stock V10v)
You'll need a custom recovery to flash it: [DEV] Custom Recovery P500/Thunderg

Thank you, I thought I broke the phone when I flashed V10A_00, it wouldn't boot into screen. Telus one indeed is nicer than Koodo's.

Thanks Kwen! This is very useful - now no need for the kdz updater.
Edit: or now we can keep the Koodo version of 2.2.1 and just root it using Gingerbreak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765) - no KDZ needed, no recovery needed (prior to root). Obviously, recovery is still recommended after root.
the only question that i have is where can i GET the stock 2.2.1 for my provider? i'm with Koodo, and i live the custom roms, but i need to flash back to stock to see if i can get my mms working correctly again. and i apologize in advance if this is the wrong thread.

[Q] Confused about rooting my device.

Hello all.
I'd just like to mention this is my very first experience with an android phone, so please help me out here.
I've decided to try and mod my WIND's LG Optimus 2X (P999), looked around these forums, and not really sure where to go. I have seen threads on Optimus 2X P990 (I didn't even know there was a P990 version), I've seen ones on T-Mobile G2X and so on, but I have no idea if rooting those would be the same for my device.
If you could please direct me to the right threads and/or tools I'd greatly appreciate it.
EDIT: It just came to my attention that everyone's phone here seems to be the P990, yet mine clearly states P999 when i remove the battery cover. Yet it's still called the Optimus 2X. Now I'm more confused.
Hello!
The LG P999 is the G2x and this is very similar to the LG P990 – it is the version for the American market while the SU660 is the Korean version and P990 for the rest of the world.
The main difference is AFAIK in the preinstalled ROM and therefore you need to look for a rooting method for G2x…
You could try SuperOneClick first - since this is the easiest way and wouldn’t hurt – if it fails look for a root method for P999(aka G2x).

Hi and welcome.
To see if your phone is p990 or p999,
go to Settings > About phone.
Then see its model number. That is what your phone is.
WIND Optimus 2X is a T-Mobile G2X with an LG branded ROM, hardware wise, they are indentical and use the same rooting method.
Thank you very much guys! The SuperOneClick method took a few tries but worked in the end. Here's another question. My device is still running Froyo thanks to WIND refusing to roll out any updates. Which version should i now install? I recall ICS is the newest one, but is that the best one to install? Links to threads/tools will be much appreciated.
You can install any T-Mobile G2X ROM, the stock based ones are either 2.3.3 or 2.3.4, CM7/MIUI is 2.3.7
Nothing ICS is fully working yet.
okay, ICS is out of the question then. do you recommend i go for gingerbread or honeycomb?
Honeycomb is also out of the question, it's Gingerbread or nothing.
Ok guys... ran into a problem. Did everything in this wiki: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/LG_Optimus_2X:_Full_Update_Guide
Installed clockworkmod, downloaded cyanogen7, started the zip from recovery, everything went ok. But now I am stuck at the lg screen. Can't do anything from there... Please help me out of you're familiar with this problem.
EDIT: Entering recovery just boots me back to the lg screen. Currently searching for solutions.
EDIT: In this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
I can't get the lg logo on step 11 to show up. So far no luck. I think It's because I made the mistake of flashing the Optimus 2X one, instead of the G2X. I guess from now on I am treating my phone strictly as the G2X...
EDIT: (Additional details): I have done everything here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847 I have the drivers, the one click flasher, etc. I get stuck on the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery section, step 7. I am simply unable to get any files to copy to my device. As soon as I "press any button to continue", I hear teh usb sound on my computer and my phone just disconnects (driver no longer visible in device manager).
EDIT: I had to plug it into the usb port at the back of my comp, instead of the two front ones..... What the hell, I don't even..... I finally flashed and got it to work. Thanks to every one who did their best to help me!
I am running the wind mobile g2x I find the most stable setup is weapon g2x 3.0_r1 no crashes ever with faux 123 0.1.3 kernel not to mention the benchmark score of 6987 took me a lot of frustration trying to run cm7 before I began running weapon g2x
Making bad decision's one at a time.

[Question] How to root my LG Optimus 4X-HD phone?

I'm currently running Android v4.1.2 JB and I heard that the rooting method works only for older versions of Android.
I also heard that there is another method of rooting and I came across that thread which can be located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688 But it's too bad that I'm a total noob and I can't actually understand the thread...
Could someone please explain that method again so I can understand it, or perhaps link me to a new tutorial? Thank you. :good:
It's indeed a very simple procedure. I suggest that you read it again.

[Q] How to flash original firmware?

Can someone please give/link me a detailed tutorial on how to flash the original firmware?
I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I've just unrooted my optimus 2x using superoneclick. Also, it's been a very long time since I flashed a custom ROM, so I have no memory of what ROM I'm currently on.
Thank you.

flash original firmware
I suggest you to flash the original firmware with smartflash (p990 edition).
I try all other methods but i found smartflash more easy than the others.
Thanks for the responses guys, it's helped me take a few steps towards the goal
However, I'd like to ask another question regarding the baseband, and yes, I HAVE read over tonyp's brilliant thread about it, but I'd like to clear something up.
My Optimus 2x was parallel imported, but I have no idea what country it was imported from. Tonyp says in his FAQ that he doesn't think it matters what country's stock ROM firmware and BB you install, so can I truly install any country's firmware, and then use the GetRIL app? It's not like I must install firmware from the country closest to mine (New Zealand) or anything right?
Thanks in advance.
