[Q] jb_hboot FAILED - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hello,
I have a HTC holiday, after reading many post, I could not find a solution to my problem.
I tried to load cm-10-20130804-NIGHTLY-holiday, after that failed.
I have unlocked HTC, I am able to get to fastboot USB, tried to
- "fastboot erase cache"
- "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
- "fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip"
I have a backup for nandroid backup, so I thought loading back jb_hboot, so I can restore, but that is failing with the following error:
C:\WCXJB_ROOT_PACK>fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip
sending 'zip' (379 KB)... OKAY [ 0.252s]
writing 'zip'... INFOzip header checking...
INFOzip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail)
finished. total time: 1.846s[/SIZE][/I]
can someone help.

I think that you don't unlock the bootload check if you unlock it.

AFAIK that's from having an odexed services.jar...
The only fix is to use a deodexed ROM...
Its not a big deal unless you reboot all the time...

Not able to boot up

The phone is unlocked and is working fine but out of the sudden it is hung at boot up screen.
Now i cannot even access the RA-nexus recovery gui. It will hang at the screen with the 'X' logo.

Just try this. I know with the mt3g it worked a few time. Try to erase the recovery partition (IE: fastboot erase recovery). This will erase the recovery image. THEN immediately after reflash the recovery (IE: fastboot flash recovery <PATH TO Amon_RA1.0.7>)....Report back your findings

You can pull out the recovery from the stock passion image... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642811
If you can't flash the stock recovery as well, try a complete restore to stock... rename the zstock passion image zip to PASSIMG.zip, copy to the SD card,, boot into bootloader and when it asks, apply the update...
One more thing, you could try Koush's Clockwork recovery image from http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html (direct link http://koush.romraid.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-passion.img)

Try getting a warranty/RMA for your device. There is something larger going on here than the fact the phone is unlocked...you should be able to flash recovery even if that partition is hosed.
actually, does anyone know a means to format just the partition recovery resides?
Oh wait..you said it won't power on...
Give HTC a ring; it may be your only recourse unless you can get your phone back on.
yup. Since i cannot even power it on, HTC is my only option.

[Q] Flashing Hboot - Answered!

I see that most CM7's require the new hboot. I have flashed, pushed, fastbooted, just about anything you can do with ADB and am quite comfortable with it but i can't find anywhere the instructions on just "how to" flash the new hboot to the N1. Is it as easy as placing the zip on the sd and flashing through recovery or is there more to it? I even tried looking in the Wiki and it showed the newest hboot but not how to flash. Thanks in advance!!
I thought it was possible to flash from recovery but after some digging around i'm not so sure now. Best to check with somebody who has done this
I flashed new hboot using cw recovery just this morning. No worries.
Thanks for the reply!

I think what they are saying is you can flash that .zip through clockwork and not worry about fastboot. Try that and let me know if that works for you.
just disable verification check and then flash. worked for me
Just in the process of rooting the phone... just rooted it and about to install RA recovery.. guess I'll flash it through that
Just tried to flash in RA Recovery got the following:
Code:
Install:d6096cac5e9f.signed.hboot-0.35.0017.zip?
Press Trackball to confirm,
any other key to abort.
Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:No signature (8 files)
E: Verification failed
Zip verification failed!
Zip isn't signed correctly!
Installation aborted.
Surely if the thing is signed then there shouldn't be a problem with the signature?
Check the md5 on the file...

Try this in AR recovery and see if you can flash then.
In AR recovery main menu select flash zip, then in that menu under "select zip" is toggle verification. Select that once and you will get a warning that unsinged zip can corrupt. then you can choose "select zip" and flash the hboot zip from the sd card.

[Q] Stock Recovery Partition Missing?

Just curious, does anyone have a dump of the recovery partition for the Dev Edition? It looks like from a bit of reading is that the recovery partition doesn't seem to be present.
I am unable to use recovery mode properly since it saids invalid operation when I do apply from SD, storage or cache, followed by the phone automatically restarting.
Has anyone else noticed this? I wonder if the unlocked 32 GB versions is unaffected.
try to reflash the recovery, the partitions should be the same as the original One
I tried to do that by using the RUU and using the zip, but it did not bring it back.
Is there a way to get the recovery image itself? I tried to extract the zip but it looked like it's encrypted as I cannot do so.
Looks like one mike1986 mentioned it's missing as well.
mike1986. said:
1. Well, I decided not to mention some things to avoid confusion. At the moment unlocking bootloader removes content of /data/preload partition, so indeed, installing OTA will fail. But I truly hope that HTC will fix it at some point and unlocking bootloader won't cause some stock apps to be missing.
2. Which procedure?

Hmm, I'm beginning to wonder if the stock recovery is suppose to work like that, where if I try to apply storage, sd card, or cache it saids invalid operation and reboot. The reason is, a new HTC One S my relative got she her phone is being replaced for free under warranty... I go to the recovery and do those certain the apply stuff, it also saids invalid operation out and restarts!
I find this a bit interesting on my HTC One when I go to the recovery and wondering the failed mount SD card messages is normal.

Try to run the RUU again. If it is successful, then you are back to stock. There is a HTC One Mini forum which will have more expertise than this forum.

The RUU did install properly. It's an AT&T RUU though and there aren't any others which is a bit of an issue.
Still can't get a custom ROM to install with TRWP

Im in the same status. How do you get the stock rom? please!
Can anyone help us here as we are stuck on the hTC green scree with no os.
I was able to download the binaries and kernel from HTC website but no success beyond that::
C:\adb\sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash zip a11chl-3.4.0-ga9a2990.zip
sending 'zip' (159912 KB)...
OKAY [ 9.157s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 21.845s

That usually happens when your bootloader is locked.
I did unlock it, it says tampered unlocked I did it from the HTCDEV website. Any directions where I should be headed...

you can try downloading the recovery that's in this forum. there's also a TWRP backup you should download too. make a folder on your SD card called TWRP, and inside that folder create a folder called BACKUPS, and inside that folder create another folder called FA4AJSR06068 and inside that folder place the downloaded backup.
put the recovery in the platform tools folder. rename it to *recovery*.img without the asterisks.
enter command 'fastboot boot recovery recovery.img'
it should boot in twrp recovery from there.
from there go to restore. and pick the backup you put there.
This is a suggestion and might not even work.
good luck
Tried it, it just does not see any folders or files when i hit the recovery button after going into the TWRP Recovery

ok try deleting the file structure i told you to build before, boot the recovery again the way i told you and do a backup of your phone as it is now. that should build the file structure for you on the sd card. then go in and place the backup in the core of it.
Thanks a ton, my phone is alive again. Doing the backup and replacing it with files in the zip worked.
