HTC one stuck at logo - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My friend HTC one was updating firmware through OTA and turned it off during it
Its stuck now at logo screen
Am a Samsung user and terms like Odin and downloading stock ROM couldn't be found here on HTC.
Am confused as I have read a lot and it seems quite different than Samsung...
I managed to enter to boot loader but recovery isn't running as the device just restart.
The boatloader is locked in red. And formating the device is not solving the issue.
All I need is a site alternative to sammobile to download stock ROM and a program alternative to Odin to flash the mobile back

Are you familiar with FASTBOOT and ADB commands? If you don't have them installed on your PC then use this tool. Once you get them installed and operational, get the phone back into bootloader and attach the USB cable. It should say FASTBOOT USB. Enter this command in the command window: fastboot getvar all Post the information from it to this site but remove the IMEI & Serialno data.
This is a lot different than Samsumg. In some ways it is a lot easier. We need to find out what OS version is installed so we can direct you in the correct direction.

I downloaded Fastboot and ADB commands, here is a screen shot i captured. am not that good with picture editing
what next to do please

this is a dual sim variant of the HTC one (M7CDUG) and unfortunately, its not much supported here. There is no RUU I can found here to restore your phone. (4.21.402.5) only files available are ota update files and can not be used to restore the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617159
You should try to fastboot erase cache then reboot in recovery mode (volume up then power when you see the triangle with exclamation mark) then in the menu, try to apply the ota again.
You could also unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery compatible with dual sim variant and flash a custom rom.
Here is a thread with all the informations/guides/roms for the dual sim variant: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2495697

Pressing volume up and power after going to recovery helped me going to go recovery options just like Samsung recovery
I wiped data and cleared cashed partition too this time
But its still stuck at logo screen
Please am not familiar with how HTC devices run
Is there an easy step by step to how to do next to revive the device

@xferidx just spent an hour typing reply then lost it.
Download the firmware for the phone from the Collection HTC Dual Sim post. It is at paragraph 1.1 HTC One 802w. Rename it firmware.zip and place it in the adb & fastboot folder. Boot into bootloader with the phone connected to the PC. Type in the cmd window:
1. fastboot oem rebootRUU
You should see a silver HTC logo
2. fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
3. fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Wait until complete in the cmd window, after a few seconds then move on
4. fastboot reboot
Don't know if it will work but it is worth a shot.

@xferidx check the MD5 to see if the file is corrupt. If it doesn't match, then download and try again.
If that didn't work there are a few threads in the General section about your phone. Check there for a RUU or nandroid backup or return to HTC for repair.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

How to check MD5?
Also why I can't flash boot the whole OTA update from paragraph 1.1?
What command to use to flash it?
I took my HTC to a guy and asked 200$ to change the motherboard as none knows how to tweak with these commands where I live...

your 4.xx the old RUU won't help you
@alray posted the info you need in post #6

I wish things were simple just like Samsung devices. An easy soft brick doesn't seem to be easily recovered even at xda

HTC One Bricked =/

Hey guys
I just rooted my HTC One yesterday and installed a custom rom on it, all went well until my brain went stupid and formatted data, system, sdcard and i had no nandroid backup in place. I just upgraded from a HTC One X and from what i know, previously i could just flash CWM and mount usb and it'll go work normally. However, for my situation now, none of the recoveries actually allow me to mount usb.
Also, i'm on 1.29.404 and i can't find any RUUs that is the same as this. I also cant execute adb push for rom because my computer doesnt recognise my phone in adb devices. Can anyone help me out with this issue ?
cheers!
Hi
Greetings,
Install HTC drivers for abd to recognize your phone, this will help you to atempt abd sideload and also fastboot commands
Flash the recovery againg
"fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery-.img"
And try again by adb sideload this is your last option before flashing a ruu

I'm in a similar boat, did a "format data" in TWRP and now I can't boot. I can access the phone via ADB tho. I'll let you know if I find a solution.
Same thing here
I also did the same thing. However, I can't boot into recovery at all; It says its about to boot into recovery, then the phone just turns off. The only thing I can do is boot into the bootloader, and lock or unlock it. Right now, its unlocked. I've tried everything. I would love to just use an ruu exe., but the only one I've found isn't working for my phone for whatever reason. I kept getting error 132 signature error. The ruu I was using was "RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.29.1540.3" I was using a similar version ( I think it was 1.29.300 or something), and yes, I relocked my bootloader before using the ruu; If anyone knows of a different, newer version, or really, anything at all that can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Hi

Have to tried this code after installing the recovery

Hey thanks for replying; Unfourtently, even after reflashing twrp and clearing the cache, it still just shows the entering recovery mode and the restarts. In fact, now it is constantly restarting until I boot it into bootloader and power the system down that way. Any other suggestions?
Thanks

that RUU won't work because you have to match your version-main to the RUU you are about to flash, if that version-main doesn't match than you will get that error 132 which is normal in your case... if you want to know which is your version main just type
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main

Thanks; I've found the correct ruu, but now I have a new problem. As of right now its .zip and not .exe; I cant boot into recovery and adb isnt working either. Any suggestions for getting it on the phones memory, seeing as there is no sd card I can remove?
I had my phone booting the entering recovery screen for about half a sec and would always boot back into the OS so I installed TWRP through fastboot than went to factory reset in the hboot menu and it booted into recovery it worked for me but Idk if it will work for you

Have you tried "fastboot -w" this will factory reset your phone from fastboot. Then try re-flashing recovery again.

I've had this problem on the one x plus, what I did and please bear with me, it does work Firstly flash cwm and clear cache, once you have done that you should be able to boot recovery. Once in cwm format everything including data! yep I said data! then reboot back to fastboot and flash TWRP and rewipe everything again (including data) then sideload or push your rom across to your phone.
Done this twice now on mine when I got bricked (for no reason!) I can only think the file system becomes corrupt somehow.
alright guys, i solved the issue and my phone is back to normal !
to those guys still facing the issue, i suggest you flash the latest cwm then try using the sideload function > adb sideload <filename.zip>
mine came back to life after that, heh
cheers!
Also fixed
Hey guys, thanks so much for everyones help last night. I also got mine all fixed and set away. For anyone interested, I used the ruu and steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904
Thanks again to everyone for their help!

[Q] One is stuck in bootloader

I just got my HTC One less than a week ago, rooted and flashed my first ROM with no issues. Decided to try out a different one today, but after flashing it, my phone rebooted into bootloader and has been stuck there. Anytime I try to reboot the phone or reboot into recovery, it just goes back to the bootloader screen. Same thing when I attempt a factory reset. I've tried reinstalling TWRP recovery and although it says the install is successful, it's still stuck in bootloader. I also tried to install my previous ROM via fastboot command (which is failing), but to no avail. I got the following output:
sending 'zip' (994092 KB)...
OKAY [ 38.486s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) zip header checking...
(bootloader) zip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail)
finished. total time: 54.083s
I'm on the Sprint version, and I'm aware that 4.2 ROMs don't work on Sprint yet so I'd be using older versions of them for the time being, but I guess I inadvertently used an incorrect version.
Any ideas?
hmm...must really be bricked. :-\
if it is booting into bootloader, it is not bricked...
try connecting your USB cable , select fastboot in bootloader... it should show the FASTBOOT USB
now on your PC, where you have the ADB/Fasboot files, SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK on that folder and select Open command window here.
In command window, enter FASTBOOT ERASE CACHE
and try booting again...it might work.....

Try using the HTC one AIO toolkit to flash a new recovery and see if that helps.
It uses the FASTBOOT method to flash. Plus you have options to try CWM and TWRP.
If that works you should be able to flash a different rom to get your device up and running

When I click to flash a recovery, it gives me a prompt that there will be 2 screens and to close the 1st one once I'm in bootloader...I do that, then the 2nd screen comes up but nothing happens. Same thing for both the Sprint options
You need to be in the fastboot menu not bootloader menu.

What you could try is download one of the recoveries and unzip the file so you get the .img file of that recovery.
Then try to flash your own recovery option. see if that works

Profit! Turns out the flash your own recovery option worked, I just didn't follow it all the way through, initially...after I closed the command prompt screen, the Open file menu came up and I was able to pick my TWRP recovery and boot into it. I restored my backup I made right before flashing the bad ROM and the phone is booting past the bootloader now
But.....next issue is that it's booting to a black screen instead of the regular lock screen, and after sitting there in that state for a few minutes, it reboots. :-\ I'm wondering if this is just because I deactivated the phone and switched back to my EVO LTE while trying to fix the One...that would be a first, though, as the phones are usually operational even if they don't have service.

Well, flashing and restoring didn't quite work, so I wound up having to do a factory reset (thankfully I had all my files on my PC from when I had to move them from my EVO, and since I'd only upgraded a few days ago, I didn't lose a whole lot) and a re-lock of the bootloader.
Only weird thing is, even re-locking it, the phone remained in S-OFF state. But I was able to rerun the HTC Dev Unlock to unlock the bootloader again and flashed a correct ROM. Back in business.
Thanks for your help...that toolkit you linked me to saved my ass.

To be S-ON again you need to reboot into bootloader
Then FASTBOOT USB
then run fastboot and write "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" and enter. Now you will be S-ON
But do NOT S-ON unless you absolutely need to.

Thank you for the TWRP with other device, but new to HTC butterfly S.
Encounter some problem with data.ext.win and the win000 file with special permission Set UID and Set CID, which not allow me to copy to my PC or even using TWRP file manger to copy to external_sd card.
Also, does not allow me to backup to external_sd.
Please advise if i did something wrong.
yoongkw i didnt get your problem..explain what exactly you want to do...
Anyone tried installing busybox? I kept getting error and reboots.

Sorry. Posted this question in the wrong section.
Basically wanna copy out the phone's TWRP backup folder to PC to save up the stock unroot version.
And was not able to do that due to Set UID and CID in permission, something with the kernel security.

yes, i'm using it. the one problem i've had is not being able to backup the cache. nonetheless, i've backed up and restored ROMS on my my S using TWRP many times without issue.
I want to do the tutorial, but would like to backup my stock recovery first. Is it possible?

HTC Bricked?

Hello everyone!
I just flashed the Android Revolution ROM (5.1 version) and it wouldn't boot properly- (I was using twrp and had S-Off) afterwards I flashed clockworkmod to see if maybe twrp was the issue...
Now my phone will only boot into fastboot and refuses to reboot or boot into recovery.. I'm totally out of ideas and the toolkits I've used in the past don't seem to be of any use.
If anyone has any clue or tip then I would greatly appreciate it!
Hi.
I'm in the same situation as this poor fella (only fastboot, no CWM recovery) except my situation might be even worse as I'm running Windows 8.1, this stupid OS which prevents to use fastboot. I know there is a solution to make it work on W8.1, but unfortunately there is no USB 3.0 port on my computer so I can't use the Intel driver workaround.
So right now my phone is stuck on the bootloader screen and I really don't know what to do anymore.
I'm freaking out at the fact that I've lost my primary phone...argh. I wish I never quickly went for the 4.4 roms.. been giving me trouble
Well.. I flashed twrp through fastboot using Hasoon's HTC Toolkit and it looks like it worked but.. when trying to boot into recovery it freezes then cycles through rebooting..
Had these issues too, only option was ruu to get my phone back up and running.

1. Download a fresh copy of the latest twrp 2.6.3.3 from here ------> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
2. Throw that recovery image into your fastboot folder and rename it twrp
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
Sometimes that erase cache command does the trick

Forgive my ignorance but I've only been using Toolkits and have no clue on how to run commands through the command prompt..
But I am willing to learn! Where exactly would you recommend me looking into to get this working?
(I have the SDK manager and HTC usb files if that helps?)

Yeah I'm slowly realizing that I can't run away from learning this information!
I'm using Windows 7 (32 bit)
Also I ran into this article: http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-set-up-android-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows-tutorial/
This might help I think?
I'm at work now then going to the gym if I'm still up and you need help I'll post in the thread to see how things are going... Good luck in the mean time tho. Post your hboot and what is you're on fastboot garvar all is needed to help with ruu.

HTC One ATT (US) Soft Brick needs help to un brick the phone

Good day everyone.
I rebooted my phone one day and came into the looping Logo splash screen issue. I followed all the step which ATT (that is the carrier I have and of course they tried both Factory resets and wipe the cache) which didn't work (still looping into the logo screen). They told me I have to buy a new phone BUT why buy a new phone when I know the answer is out there. This is why I love this forum, even though I have been reading it for a day, but already learned a lot.
I can get in the HBOOT menu and also can get into the bootloader menu but when I try to recover my phone, using a program like:
RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1
Or
HTC One Toolkit - Squabbi - 3.1.2
It doesn't work because when it reboots the phone, the bootloader will not go into the "FASTBOOTUSB" mode which I think is the issue. The USB for the FASTBOOT never comes on with the black HTC screen (when trying to do a recovery)
If the FASTBOOTUSB would come on automatically it could help but wanted advice from you all.
Here is my phone info:
**** LOCKED ****
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-4T.20.3218.13
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
OS-3.17.502.3
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Sep 10 2013.01:21:12.0
Can someone please lead me the right way to unbrick this soft bricked phone?
If you have any questions, please ask, I will be more then happy to answer.
Thank you all in advance
Firstly, are you sure you have the correct/updated drivers on your computer?
also I think you're using the wrong RUU btw unless you have a superCID phone and it sounds like you're completely stock, the one you posted is for the eu version and you need this http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...13_10-33-1150-01_release_318450_signed_2-exe/ for an att device.
Next Download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 if you don't already have adb and fastboot and then see if your computer is recognizing adb at least when you're at the main hboot menu by typing "adb devices" once you open a command prompt and navigate to the adb and fastboot folder by typing "cd /(whatever your adb folder is called)"
If adb works you should gain s-off for your device using this http://firewater-soff.com/instructions
Now you should be able to flash the RUU following directions and in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738

I am not sure if I have the updated drivers but I did install the HTC sync so maybe I do. I am still a noob so sorry if this sounds very noobish.
Question question before I install the the adb program...
Should I go through this before I do anything??

Also when I typed in adb devices into the cmd prompt after installing the program it just says:

Nothing is under that.
Any recommendation from there? Thank you again!

I just updated my first response with another helpful guide, and you need to uninstall/remove htc sync from your computer COMPLETELY. That's probably your culprit for not getting recognized by the computer.

Quick question.
If I run "adb devices" and it says it is trying to connect to the port number and doesn't find anything. That isn't good is it? I am in the HBOOT menu, uninstalled everything HTC related on my computer. When I run adb devices now it says
List of devices:
Nothing of course is listed.
Thanks,

Okay that's weird, sound like a connection problem somewhere. Double check you drivers, reinstall them, and then if it still won't see it then try a different USB port (the one in the back is your best bet)
Does your computer recognize that SOMETHING being connected at all? Like does it make that "ding" sound when you plug it in? haha

Ok.. uninstalled everything, rebooted, Plugged in the USB into the back. Installed the new drivers from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217396
The computer says there is something connected because the plug in device sound kicks up just fine.
Then did this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
I don't know if that looks good or not. What do you think?

I tried with Fastboot and then not fastboot
The problem is.. the ONLY way for this phone to connect via USB to my computer is through FASTBOOT. When I select FASTBOOT it goes right to FASTBOOT USB. Otherwise it will not connect via USB
One more thing to add.
When i do a factory reset, it gets to Backup CW Package and freezes there if that tells you anything.
Last thing.. I did do this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot devices
HT35VW911121 fastboot
Is that a good? It recognizes it on the fastboot but not ADB.... hummmm

Yeaaaaah! You can only be in one separate mode at a time so you were probably just in fastboot before. Okay now I'm going to take you a different route than the RUU because you can't s off without an operating system right now which means you can't flash an RUU.
Now you need to first go here http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-...htc-one-running-android-4-4-2-kitkat-0151186/ and follow the steps to unlock your bootloader (second section), your phone might hang at the end where it reboots but thats fine we just need it to get unlocked for now.
Next download this twrp recovery img http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-m7.img and save it to where your adb/fastboot files are and rename the file to "recovery". After this manually reboot your phone into the hboot again and get it into fastboot mode and then after navigating to your adb/fastboot folder in a cmd prompt type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
next on your phone use the volume keys to highlight "bootloader" and press the power button. It should take you back to the main bootloader screen. Now highlight recovery and press the power button.
once twrp is booted you can set your phone aside for now... download this http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407581059 and save the zip to your adb/fastboot folder. Now type in the command prompt "adb push m7_Stock_Rooted_4.18.502.7_Odex.zip /sdcard/
m7_Stock_Rooted_4.18.502.7_Odex.zip" wait for it to finish and type "adb reboot recovery"
now go to install and select the m7_Stock_Rooted_4.18.502.7_Odex.zip file on your sd card and wait for it to install and then reboot. After you get to this point I'll help you return completely back to your stock tomorrow.:good:

However when i do press the power button down and/or power button + the volume down it does connect and reconnect to the computer. any ideas?
