[Q] Where can I find a working flex cable for T-Mobile T8585 US Hd2 - HD2 Accessories

Recently I've reopened my HTC HD2 to glue the glass+digitizer better to the case since the replacement BUT I accidentally damaged the flex cable by cutting the UP/DOWN volume buttons flex....
...I've already ordered 3 from eBay and from different sellers and the symptons were:
1. Bad Sound through loudspeaker (static), Camera was flickering with pinkish tone
2. Bad Sound through loudspeaker (static), No Vibration
3. Bad Sound through loudspeaker (static), Vibration worked but no Proximity sensor (literally)
Suffice to say I've waited nearly 1 month for each arrival...spend time to install and make a video to show the seller I was not lying...and now I'm using the HD2 without the volume buttons but with everything ok....I'm nearly Ok wasn't the fact that the Vol keys have a number of functions I use: Camera button, Silence a call and most important flash new rom's.....
Can anyone help me find one that REALLY works?

I would say your best bet is getting a used device being sold with dead or broken original digitizer.
Prices are very reasonable these days & even if twice the price you will reclaim the cost by selling other genuine parts via eBay.
Quality of chinese manufacture on mainboard flex is going be a problem as they love minimal manufacture cost (even leaving components out:-O )

Maybe you're right...and that's what 'll try to do next time. What I don't understand is the large number of happy costumers buying those flex's and reporting no problems...

I think a lot of people write feedback before fitting or testing well.
I do suspect some work well but indeed they will not be near quality of original.
The digitizers & button boards are good but flex is one of those things where genuine if possible works out best.
Should be easy pick up a salvageable HD2 besides bad mainboard or digitizer & with your gained experience strip for parts.

maybe you can try on www.aliexpress.com
I recently bought this one - http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6129733847.html , but i've given my HD2 for assemblage, as I am not able to flawlessly do it personally . i can post the results in a weeks time and tell you how it works.

Did it work ok? Camera, Sound, VIbration, Proximity sensor?

Same as ones on eBay - amazon, you'll find that seller on eBay too.
Main flex is always best salvaged from a cheap broken HD2 rather than copy part as just too complex & important for cheap china copy part.

Kaiser keyboard and Dpad issues

Hello,
I have been a longtime lurker/reader of this crazy wealth of knowledge, but i've finally run into a problem with my tytn ii that I can't find a solution to (despite searches). Any input would be fantastic. Let me preface this by saying I picked up this phone early on, new/oem. I can't really take it in to AT&T, especially since it's a kaiser not a tilt. Here's the issue:
A couple weeks ago, my keyboard and dpad just quit working. The phone and touchscreen were still completely functional, but no other input method worked. When I hit the power button, it would turn the screen on and type edfc, and begin recording a voice memo. Immediately that looks like a hardware problem. My brother (tech genius; replaced the LCD with me when that broke a few months ago) took it apart and checked all the connections and everything looked alright. After reassembling it, nothing had changed. I backed up everything on the phone and hard reset it. Still no change. I switched ROMs, and still no change. I think it must just be a failed piece of hardware.
Since the only things that don't function are the keyboard AND front dpad, I'm thinking it must be the board / ribbon that connects the two halves. I don't really have any way to test this though, and that's discouraging. So for the tldr types:
1) Are the parts from the tilt / tytn ii interchangeable, or would i have to find parts specifically for the tytn ii?
2) Is it worth picking up a phone with a broken screen/case etc and attempt to fix mine myself?
3) Is there a reputable repair place that it might be worth shipping my phone off to?
4) Is there another possibility as to why my phone is doing this that i've overlooked?
Thanks for any help
6 month ago I had the same problem, it's an hardware problem. I send my Kaiser to warrantly and 2 weeks later I've got a new kaiser that works good. So use warrantly
I'm fairly certain i cannot send my unit in to warranty. Had I known the extent of problems these phones have since been shown to have, I would have purchased one with warranty. :\

Yes, the parts are interchangeable, so you dont have to get parts specifically for the tytn ii (unless its the housing and you want the same branding on it).
Check out pocketpcthoughts.com they have main flex cable button assembly and the main keyboard assembly for sale as parts.

Thats worth a shot, i'd recommend that if you find one at a good price. But watch out. I purchased a Wizard a while ago with a broken lcd in hopes of using its mainboard. Swapped out the mainboard with my damaged one and it didnt work so i was left with 2 dead devices

awesome, thanks so much for the info. I have a bid pending on a damaged tilt on eBay...keeping my fingers crossed. If it goes for cheap hopefully it fixes it. If not, I may pick up one of those flex cable assemblies, as I'm almost certain that's the failing part. Thanks again

[Q] Just bought nexus one - problem with screen calibration

Hello,
I have recently bought nexus one and now randomly I have problems with the screen - I click on one place and it does something totally differently. It is fixed if I turn off and on screen. Before posting the question I did do my homework - I found this
- Q5: Sometimes my screen registers touches in incorrect places, and I need to turn the phone off and on to make it work correctly again
A: This is a hardware problem, nothing can be done about it. Nexus One's digitizer sucks.
in FAQ and found out that screen can't be calibrated. Now the questions that I have are:
1) Do all of the nexus ones have this issue? Would you advice me to return the phone and get a different model or replace for the same model (I already have bought screen protectors and case).
2) How often does this happen?
3) Is this a truly a hardware issue or software issue?
If this is a hardware issue - can it be fixed by software (e.g. by restarting the driver for the digitizer every minute or something like that...). I've read somewhere on this forum (or on a different one) that motorola had similar issues and they have released a patch that has fixed the issue
4) Are their any hopes it will get fixed in future releases?
5) People who have the same phone - how often do you have to turn off and on it (the screen - not reboot)?
Any other issues I should be aware of?
About the phone - its android 2.3.4
1) Yes. Some are more affected, some are less, all have it. It also depends on a zillion of factors - including climate, average finger moisture, etc.
2) See answer 1.
3) I've never looked at the code, but Nexus One is out for a year. If it was possible to fix - I'd bet it would have been done by now.
4) See answer 3.
5) See answer 1.
You've done your homework, but still came to ask "just in case". Well, the answers didn't change for the last 1/2 year.
Thank you for the quick answer.
If all the phones have this issue - why people are still using them? Or this is something they have just got used to? Also I understand that the frequency is different for everybody, but can I please have some numbers? Its one thing if it does it once a day or once a week and totally different if it does it every hour or every 15 minutes of use... Can you please let me know how often it does it for your phone? Also are you using screen protector? Is there any corolation between screen protector and and frequency?
Screen protector is known to cause less sensitivity and less responsive screen, which might account for some of the trouble.
People got used to it.
It mostly depends on the moisture and heat - the hotter the phone, the more likely is the screen to fail. Without moisture and with casual use it'll fail once a day or so. When playing a game, it can fail more than once an hour.

It happens to all nexus ones, its a hardware problem. But it only happens about once or twice a week, so most people just live with it. Just turning off then on the screen fixes it, so only takes a second to clear the error.
Also heat seems to cause it, particularly when its charging.
I go weeks without ever seeing the issue. Other times I see it once a week. It sucks but not a huge deal really.
Hi guys,
Just a quick question.... if this problem is hardware and relates to the digitizer then is it worth just replacing the digitizer?
I notice you can purchase a replacement digitizer on eBay.
Is it worth a try? And if so, is the N1 easy to take apart?
I've taken other phones apart and repaired them so have some experience.
If you replace it all you're doing is waisting your time. It will be the same thing. It is not like the digitizer is broken/failing or anything. It just sucks. Its not broken. Better way of thinking of it is a hardware limitation.
Hi guys,
Well, not wanting to be beaten by this screen problem, having suffered for over a year, I decided to take the plunge and buy a new digitizer off eBay. Cost about £20.
Found a couple of vids on Youtube which show you how to take the phone apart etc.
Two months on and all working fine. Not one single screen issue since replacing the digitizer.
Now a VERY happy Nexus One owner. Just wish Vodafone or HTC could have done the same thing on anyone of those four occasions I sent the phone for repair!!!
Now also running the MIUI custom OS... what a fantastic OS!!
Well, I'm pretty surprised no one filed class action suit against Google or HTC for supplying faulty digitizers on Nexus One

wow! which seller did you buy it from? is it an OEM part or third party? was the multi-touch issue fixed e.g. X-Y axis all over the place when fingers come too close together? does it now register more than 2 fingers?
The seller on eBay was e_cell. Search for this item to see the digitizer I purchased: 190567591678
It was listed as: 'GENUINE HTC NEXUS ONE G5 TOUCH SCREEN DIGITIZER + TOOLS'
I used a video on YouTube to dismantle the phone and insert the new digitizer.
Search YouTube for 'Google Nexus One Screen Replacement & Take Apart Directions'
Sorry I haven't include direct links but the forum wouldn't let me.
Note: Once I'd taken the phone apart I ran a warm hairdryer over the old digitizer in order to soften the glue that holds it in the frame of the phone. Then I slowly eased the old digitizer out of the frame and inserted the new one. The original adhesive in the frame will hold the new digitizer in place.
Tip: Make sure you remove any dust or finger prints from the new digitizer before reassembling the phone. You'll kick yourself if you forget to do this as they will be visible on the inside of the digitizer and it will drive you mad! I made this mistake and had to take the phone apart again to clean it up. DOH!

I would love to know what sort of problems did the new digitizer fix?
My problem was when I touched one area of the screen another area would respond.
So a screen calibration issue.
It was most noticeable when texting. For example I'd press a key on the top row of keys and a key on the bottom row would respond.
A work around was to press the power button to put the phone into standby and press it again to continue using the phone. Sadly the problem would always come back.
I'd also have problems selecting App icons. I'd press one and another would respond.
I asked both Vodafone and HTC to swap out the screen but all they ever did was flash the rom or say they couldn't find any problem.
The issue I had is well documented on the internet.
So glad I never gave up on this.
wait so a new digitizer fixed the issue?
so theres a different version of this digitizer?
or is the model and product number still the same?

Do you have the part number of this new digitizer you replaced? it turn out there are a number of OEM parts with different parts number
Unfortunately I can't state the part number as I don't have that information.
I simply searched eBay for a digitizer and looked for a good seller who appeared to be trusted and had a good feedback rating.
I'd bought from 'e_cell' before and knew they provided a good service.
All along I knew I was taking a gamble when buying the digitizer but the problem with the phone was so annoying I decided it was my last hope to get the thing working properly.
I've had the phone close to a year and a half, and during that time its spent most of its life either away for repair (Vodafone or HTC) or sitting in its box because I refused to use it. Instead I bought myself a second hand iPhone 3G off eBay to get by. Things were made worse by the fact I am tied into a two year contract with Vodafone.
So trying a new digitizer was my last throw of the dice, so to speak.
And the fact it worked is brilliant. I still feel this phone (Nexus One) is the best phone I've had, and I've had quite a few.
Please remember... if you decide to do what i did then see it as a gamble. There are no guarantees in life.
Oh, and be real careful when taking the phone apart and reassembling. It's not particularly hard but there is always a risk you may damage something. So be warned.

Thank you for the information, so it turn out nexus one have quite a number of unresolved issues. I was wondering why didn't big G did not order product recall for people with faulty digitizer?
I looked around and found that a number of users have having all kind of issues after replacing the digitizer. Geez...what should I do? Perhaps I should take it to a professional phone repair shop?

Well, luckily for me no problems as yet (though never say never!).
The most important thing when taking the phone apart is to take your time, and memorise where everything is located. Be firm but not heavy handed. There are some delicate parts inside the phone so you have to be careful.
Common sense really.
I've had no issues with signal strength. I get HSDPA most of the time, or standard 3G. My data (internet) is working fine and so is GPS.
Inside the phone there are a couple of connectors that control signal so you have to be careful and make sure if they disconnect that you reconnect them again properly.
I build and repair computers and laptops. If you've ever taken a laptop apart that has wireless LAN capability then you'll know there are specific wires which connect the antenna to the motherboard. The same applies in the N1 but on a smaller scale.
Good luck to anyone who tries this!
does anyone from the UK have a source to get a new digitizer from that fixes the heat related issue?
ebay has one for £22.50 (id: 10goodseller2012), and i'm almost ready to click BUY, just want to see if anyone else has more info before i 'blindly' click buy...
edit: i should add, 'e_cell' seller no longer has the N1 digitizers listed...
No matter what anybody says, replacing the digitizer itself won't fix the issue. It is deeper than that. It is the digitizer mixed with the onboard hardware to interpret the digitizer inputs. Usually it ends up just being heat related. I haven't had the issue with my phone for awhile, but that is because it doesn't get as hot as it used to with older versions of CM, but if I have it in the sun, in my car dock, using GPS, it will freak out all the time.

i too was sceptical, and i still am.
however, I've replaced the digitizer and so far it's perfect! i'm not sure it's placebo as i could get it todo it 100% of the time.
prior to ordering the new digitizer, i ran tests to see at what temp ranges the screen would play up - according to the battery temp (Battery Monitor Widget), it will play up over 40c.
what i SUSPECT is the fix, is the digitizer i bought is a newer hardware revision than the one i had. the new digitizer did come with it's own chip on the flexible PCB.
i did mean to write down the new digitizer number and compare from the old one to see if they have revised it - alas, i forgot to get the new number. (old one is 940-473-1r5)
its been installed for almost 2 hours now, and on test for around an hour to build up heat - screen on full, camera on, GPS on (using aLapRecorder HD) and it's perfect. before i could guarantee a problem with screen dimmed, camera on, GPS off, so early impressions are good!
I'll give it a proper test tonight on the way home from work - it'll have the windscreen blower aswell..

Dropped captivate, screen had purple spots, then black :(

Hello
I recently dropped my Samsung Captivate. First time it had purple spots on the screen in 1 day the whole screen went purple and the next day the whole screen went black The sensor and everything else is working.
How do you think, what may be the issue of this? is the screen completely screwed or there may be another, less important damage.

My guess is that you'll have to replace the digitaliser. You can do it yourself or contact mobiletechvideos.com for the job.
If you have any experience in it though, you can try opening your phone and see if anything isn't correctly connected.

Pretty sure it would be easier to replace the digitizer + screen, since I think they're glued together on the captivate? (correct me if I'm wrong).

Yeah, I'd like to grab a spare if they are sitting that cheap now.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
As far as I've seen, the cheapest I got mine was $80. Bad idea, too many issues, wasted money. Buying anywhere but swappa they're about 150$+. Swappa has one for $135 (hoping to buy that one actually, but either have to wait a week and hope someone doesn't buy it, or sell my pantech crossover faster so I have the money haha).

You just have to put "i897" or similar as an ebay saved search that notifies you when new products matching that description are posted.
I bought 1 cappy for $60 from ebay seller alltechwholesale, out of Texas I think. In my experience, they do a good job inspecting the phones first so you know what your going to get. In my experience and many others, the phone arrived in better condition than described....Then I picked up two more sold together on ebay for $70 that were listed as one bad digitizer and the other bad charge port. I got them as parts phones. The one with the "bad digitizer" ended up being just a bad search button because the screen lifted on that corner a little. A 50 cent tube of adhesive fixed that. Then the second of the two just had a dirty charge port and a squirt of crc electronics cleaner fixed it...Now I have a main phone, a backup flashed to be identical, and a media device!!
After taking this phone completely apart a few times it gets pretty easy to see it really is a mini computer and most of the major parts can be bought on ebay for decent prices and replaced fairly easy....The ribbons that connect the various parts can bend and break easily so that is something to keep in mind. I broke the ribbon for the headphone jack assembly but a little hunting on ebay and I had one on it's way for $1.50 after shipping lol.

Haha yes, I can relate to the mini computer aspect. Just spent my day repairing about 8 hp Touchsmarts, the cappy compared to that, is a dream lmao. Much less to deal with . I planned on using the cappy I have now as a spare part phone anyway, unless I can somehow get it to work. But I didn't know about the whole ebay thing. I shall do that now, thanks a TON :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: Just checked alltechwholesale ebay store, SO MANY CAPPYS FOR SALE!!! All around the same price, seems they put it up for 0.99 and someone keeps jacking it up to $70 shortly after. My only thing -- I hate auctions . But great share and bookmarked

yeah, alltech is just auctions but I just took time to read conditions and saved a bunch and you'll find that they go for different prices depending on what's wrong and even depending on the day or time of day lol......That's why I suggested saving the search too. I use the ebay app and when there is new listings of my saved searches I get a notification so I go and look. If your quick, You can possibly snag a "buy it now" at a decent price depending on the condition your looking for. I really couldn't believe I ended up with 3 100% working phones and maybe I just got lucky, but I'd say it's worth a try lol.
I'd say it was a combination of good research, and amazing luck hahaha. But I do appreciate it a lot, thanks for the info, cheers

Sorry we kind of got off the subject, But for the digitizer try what Bwolf said about the connections.
Once when I was testing the power button I soldered on my old cappy I didn't get one of the ribbons all the way on (i believe it was the ribbon near the power button), and the screen flashed a few different colors.
There is at least one probably more youtube vids with pointers on how to get the cappy apart in a way that wont do damage.
I know there's a tare-down guide here, and there was a YouTube video where someone replaced the screen, if I can find it on my history I'll edit this post

i have checked and now i am sure, that the screen is broken. I live in a state, that is not supported by paypal and and where can i buy used captivate for parts with my credit card?
The only place I can think of would be ebay, if you can find a seller who accepts things other than paypal. Or you can try craigslist.

Motherboard (Daughter-board) Replacement

Hello.
I have to change the small motherboard, or like I see it also called daughter-board, because phone vibration stopped working and even changing the motor didn't work.
My board is with number 50H10209-02M-A (2012-12-21). But I found that there's also the same board with number 50H10209-32M-A (2012-12-21) which I can get a little cheaper. Do you know if there is any difference and if I can buy 50H10209-32M-A or I have to stick with 50H10209-02M-A?
I tried to find information in Internet but nothing...
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

get the same one or else this will happen, (http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/help/phone-rebooting-loop-replacement-t3442504#post68312039) do you have an unlocked model?
Oh noes....my volume down switch went bad so I just blindly ordered a daughter board from eBay
(no part numbers given on listing, lulling me into a "they are all the same" attitude)
What are the chances I got the wrong one and am no closer to getting it 100% working??
It arrived today but I am not going to attempt fitting it yet or comparing part numbers as I am still waiting on a new screen/digitizer to arrive from China/ HK
The fewer times I have it open the fewer chances of screwing it up
Not having a working volume down I suppose I can live with in a worst case scenario
(this phone is NOT for me and the new owner - My Mrs - is not going to go anywhere near recovery/fastboot/bootloader and is currently back to stock and having it jammed on full volume /may/ mean she will actually hear the phone ringing and increases the chances of her picking it up!)
Regards
Rob
Sure enough, the board I ordered - despite the image of the 50H10209-02M-A board the seller sent me a 50H10209-32M-A
He wants me to send it back to China before a refund is given (at my cost)
As I only paid £7 for the board I guess I'm stuck with it and out of pocket as postage would likely be more than that
The screen also arrived and works great - but the LED's under home and back button have been stuck down wrong - so the LED's don't light the buttons by the HTC logo... but put an annoying glaring white light into the screens corner :/
Seller asked if a partial refund would make me happy which I just replied yes to
A whole £1 refund was waiting for me when I got home...sigh
There's a lesson to be learned here but I'm 100% sure I will get bitten a few more times before I put principals before the wallet
Off to find ways of disabling the home and back LED before it drives me round the twist
Regards
Rob
