[Q] overclocking and interface editing exhibit T599n?[supernoob] - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I am brand new to rooting. This is the first phone I have rooted. I am trying to improve its performance and and possibly change the boot animation and stuff. I used rom toolbox but it wouldn't change my boot. And all overclocking apps cqn only underclock it. Does anyone know if it cqn be overclocked? And how to change the boot animation? I already improved space using gl to sd, but I haven't found any forums on overclocking qnd and boot animation. Please help this noob. And thank you

You can use Boot Box (look it up on Google Play) to change your boot animation. To overclock your CPU, you're going to need a supported kernel, which isn't available at the moment. Overclocking won't be possible on your device unless someone releases a kernel which supports it.
By the way, you have posted this thread in the wrong forum section.

Yes, the device is rooted, I have supersu enabled. And my device is currently stock rom. However I can't seem to change much. I tried to change the notification background using rom toolbox and that also didn't work. It seems as though my Device uses qmg files

If you are rooted, then install xposed framework & modules. It's the best way to customize. Use the search bar to find them.

Most of the mods are for 4.2 and 4.3. I have 4.1.2. It's still jellybean., but will it work on these mods? I don't to end up with a bricked phone.

Of course not. If it says 4.2, it's for 4.2 (always read the OP carefully) & so on. If you know what you're doing, you won't brick your phone, for sure

/system writable mod is included in many custom kernels and also in some custom roms like ARHD. What are you trying to accomplish? Why do you need /system writable?
Also advised in the thread you linked:
This is mainly for devs, who are free to incorporate it into their ROMs.
Unless you are an advanced user, I would wait for it to be included in your favourite ROM.

I guess if you are asking how to do this, you are not a dev nor an advanced user...

I can follow instructions and have never bricked or messed up a device, I'm not an idiot.
I want system write-able so I can remove stock apps and boot up/down animation, I don't want a custom ROM.

And I fully agree with this and that's probably why you didn't received any answer yet.
You don't need a custom rom if you don't want one. A custom kernel like elementalx or bulletproof will do the job fine with your stock rom.
Is your device unlocked? rooted?
Also note that modifying or deleting /system files will prevent you to flash future ota updates
EDIT: btw these 2 kernels I suggested you were created by the same dev who posted that mod you are referring to.

4K and Roms

Hello, I have some questions about Z1:
Did anyone installed 4k and Timeshift and did it work?
What's the best ROM? Now should I install custom rom or no? And how to install rom? Via Flashtools?
I installed a custom theme, but it just changed the main screen wallpaper and nothing else. It's rooted (757). Someone told me to choose the default theme and reboot phone, then again choose custom theme. Is that true?
It has a bit delay when I press the power button to unlock the phone. It's about 4-5 seconds more than usual. It made after I flash it to Kitkat 4.4.2. I don't know why, but I have this issue. How to solve it?
Thanks all

Hi...
For that 4K hysteria - belive me, that's nothing special.
Device sometimes (Z2) FC because overheating (after all, Z2 and Z1 have snapdragon 800- 801 is just a fancy new number, it's same cpu just overclocked to 2.3).
One min video takes 500MB of space and I rarely us it...
Timeshift is awesome and it's work great if I can remember well..
Questions like what's the best ROM aren't allowed on XDA so I'll skip that..
Try few of them and you'll find what's best for you.
For custom themes you have to patch services.jar - si, you have to install superuser mod or use Xposed module called "Xperia Xposed" by serajr - that module will automatically patch services.jar (will disable signature check)
No, you don't have to apply stock then custom, that's good advice for CM ROMs and themes in that ROMs.
If you have superuser, deodexed ROM and rooted device (of course) you'll be able to see custom themes.
Don't know about that "lag" but you could check RAM consumption, maybe there's a solution.
Or try to go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik (don't rush there, many guys reported they did full wipe after trying only cache wipe)

Thanks. When I was about to install Deodex Rom, so after installation, a post said that I should clear dalvik-cache, and so I did it.
For this part "For custom themes you have to patch services.jar - si, you have to install superuser mod or use Xposed module called "Xperia Xposed" by serajr - that module will automatically patch services.jar (will disable signature check)" I did not got anything, because I'm not pro in android phones. Z1 is my first smart and android phone.
And so, I don't know how to patch services.jar-si
It's rooted of course, and I have SuperSU, lucky patcher, and recently installed moded Google Play.
Is that installed? How should I install it? Or how should I get it?
And about Timishift, it's and amazing addon for camera, just I wanna it. I know that some users reported Sony about overheating of 4k in Z2. My phone itself records 2K, and sometimes I face low memory.

Sorry again. I'm a beginner and my English is not well enough to understand properly these threads and posts.
I read your thread, but I have some questions:
What's NUT 534 firmware? I flashed my phone to 757 via flashtools. Should I flash it again?
I unlocked my BU and rooted it, and so I have CWM or CMW (I don't know which one is correct). And again I should download and install Dual Recovery?
And should I download both Xposed Module and Serajr Xperia Module?
So, now because I have recovery mode, it means there isn't need to flash again?
Now my brain is overheated!
Please help me
Just install xposed framework and serjar module, then the 4k mod
If you have unlocked the boot and have recovery you are all ready to just install the 4k mod by flashing it in recovery then clearing the data in settings/apps for the named apps
just like it says in the OP of the 4k thread

The first post of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730097 tells you which apps to clear the data for

[FIXED] Xposed not writing to system

I've recently gotten the Blu Studio Energy, and i've already rooted it. I'm on stock rom (Kitkat 4.4.2), because there are no other roms available for this device yet.
I'm trying to install Xposed onto my phone, but I guess its not working (Look at screenshots below)
The app says that it is installed, but Xposed modules do not work at all. Is there a way for me to manually copy the files needed to the system? Also my phone doesn't have any roms, so no CWM or TWRP to just flash it with.
I'm really suck, can anyone provide assistance?

The BLU Studio Energy is the same hardware as the Gionee M3. You can use the same ROMs. I am running a custom ROM for a M3 on my Blu Studio Energy, check out this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/gionee-m3-devlopmentroot-custom-roms-t2977122
You can install a custom TWRP from the M3 which Ravi has developed and then custom ROMs and xposed framework. I am running the SAMUI rom and xposed framework is running perfectly. careful with it though, easy to softbrick the thing, but custom flashing the stock M3 rom using the original flash tool will break you out of any softbrick.

Get xposed to work without soft boot?

Couldn't find anything on this, but apparently people are having success installing xposed framework on the nexus 6 without having to soft boot every time to get the modules to work.
If anyone has had any success with this, could you please provide the process how to.

I usually prefer Franco but it seems in his quest for insane battery life he has somehow sacrificed performance on this phone as the UI is a little more stuttery. Does have better battery though. Also with that flashable zip above, I tried it, but the hack never seemed to launch in time for xposed to see it and I would have to soft reboot anyway. The lean kernel method works great and its an awesome kernel.
There's elementalx kernel too, which is great. There's a whole thread in N6 general about what you can try.

1. This is an old thread and was due to the requirement for SELlinux permissive on an old alpha of xposed

Unfortunately, I don't see any way how this can be done. But there is one way, if your device is rooted, you can try to modify the values using other apps.
