I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this handy little device but for those of you who are not, here is a little information.
I recently discovered this tiny thumb drive, pen drive, flash drive, whatever you want to call it, at my local Wal-mart while looking for a DVI to HDMI cable. I already own several flash drives, however, the difference between the ones I own already and this one is that I can plug this one directly into my phone. It functions as a flash drive for your phone much the same as it does for your pc, and for LG G2 owners, USB OTG (On The Go) support is already built in so it's basically plug and play.
Now, if your like me, many of you here are flash happy addicts. Well that is where this little drive can come in quite handy. On my drive I have several different ROMs, multiple kernels, nandroid backups and even a few GAPPS packages saved. I also have the stock KK baseband and a flash-able version of LG's camera app. You never know when those files might come in handy and all you have to do is reach in your pocket, pull out this tiny drive and plug it into your phone. Of course you could always just save all that to your phones memory but some of those files can quickly add up, taking up valuable space that you would rather use for other things. This could also prove to be a life saver for those with little internal memory and no sd card slot or while in the middle of that long flight from.......well, i think you get the idea.
If your not on a LG G2 or would like to use this drive on another phone Sandisk has a list of supported devices on their website. Most or many high end phones support USB OTG and there are many apps that help with that as well such as Chainfire's StickMount. Of course you will have to have a rooted phone to use that app. And then there is the official Sandisk app Memory Zone which is available free on the app store. I mention the official app last because personally I don't care for it and it doesn't really suit my needs. But don't get me wrong, it is a great app and it makes transferring files from your phone to the USB drive very easy. I just prefer to use a file explorer to move the files I want.
If you choose to go the route I did and you are using a LG G2 then the USB drive will be located in the root directory under storage/usb/. Also one other tip, when using this or any other USB drive with your phone make sure you un-mount the drive in settings/storage before unplugging it from your phone. You may be able to get away with just pulling it out but the proper way is to un-mount it first and in certain situations you can run into problems if you decide to skip that step. When plugging in the USB drive it should automatically mount itself but if not you can also mount the drive the same way. And if you choose you use the Sandisk app, plugging in the drive to your phone will automatically launch the app.
The Drive comes in three different sizes, 16, 32 and 64 GB ( 2.0 only no 3.0 ) with prices ranging from $19.99 - $49.99.
This drive has been quite convenient for me and so i'm sure it can be just as useful to many of you, that is why i decided to post this. I'm just trying to give a little back to a forum and community that has given so much to me.

i have 32gb sandisk - nice little thing, makes usb otg backups as easy as 123...
read/wrize speeds are good too (it takes around 380sec to backup/restore 3gb)
and it's small

Yes the price is a bit steep when compared to other flash drives but it does eliminate the need for a OTG cable which saves $5 to $10 dollars. Even then its still a bit more expensive then a regular flash drive of comparable size. But you are also paying for convenience when you by this drive.
As far as speed go, being 2.0 its not the fastest. Technically it should be capable of speeds around 30 MB/s however most users report speeds closer to between 15 to 20 MB/s. I haven't bench-marked this drive myself yet but will be doing so very soon and will post my results here.

I bench-marked this drive and here are my results:
Computer side: Read 20.7 MB/s & Write 7.4 MB/s

btw this stick is so user friendly made that it wouldn't bother me even if it had 5mb read/write...
just makes things simpler (especially backups and huge file transfers between pc and phone)
looks like Kingston makes something similar too, seems to be a little cheaper (at least on amazon). not sure if R/W speeds are comparable as i didn't look that far into either. labeled as the "Data Traveler MicroDuo"
i've seen several lookalikes on ebay when i was buying mine but for me the sandisk is no1 choice

Microduo 16gb? Are you talking about the 16GB SanDisk dual sub drive? If so I'm not sure why it would be heating up. Is your phone also hot at the same time? If so the dual usb drive may be acting like a heatsink for your phone. But that is just a guess.

i also don't have heat problems with my 32gb sandisk dual usb otg... what i wouldn't mind on that stick is some kind of a led light to indicate it's alive when it's connected
i've noticed the heat only on my transcend regular usb stick when it's connected to any device a bit longer... (this one: http://uk.transcend-info.com/products/images/ModelPic/359/gb_csuJF_spec_JFT3S_110819.jpg )
Meenova seems the best way to go for the G2. I have one and it is a lot smaller than the sandisk, which is what I personally prefer.

sandisk is about 3cm big (1 inch), so it's not an elefant
not that i have it always connected to the device so the size of it doesn't bother me...
i usually connect it once a week to make a twrp backup, phone sits on the table in that time, and i disconnect the usb 5 minutes after...
i think i'd probbably lose it easier if it was even smaller
btw sandisk has both full size usb and micro usb connector in one unit which makes pc to phone file transfers easy as hell... and file transfer speeds of sandisk are quite good (takes around 400-450 seconds for 4 gig backup)
i didn't see meenova with both connectors (or i missed that)

but it should be ok because read/write speeds are above 10mb/s (320kbps mp3 is 1/3 of a megabyte per second)
it should even handle mkv video files without a problem (although i didn't test yet because i don't use it for this)
suggest me a reliable and trustworthy otg benchmark app and i could test it for you (sandisk dual otg i mean)

Yeah I'm surprised that we aren't getting more feedback with this topic.
I've found threads with 32GB cards with EVOs and Droid Xs, but, that's about it.
I think it helps if you manage to get it formatted properly, either on a desktop computer or on your device (if it supports it).
I'm tempted by the Patriot 32GB Class 10, but, some of the people on Newegg seemed to have some issues with it on a their Droid Xs.

i got 8.8MB/s write speed and 12.7MB/s read using antutu system review btw im also using apps2ext and cm7. I dont know by using apps2ext if the benchmark is effected. I was using a 16gb class 2 Kingston card before this and generally haven't noticed much of a speed difference but I mainly use the card for music
Edit: SD tools gets 10.6MB/s writing speed and 14.4MB/s reading speed

Thanks for sharing your results. Those performance speeds are quite attractive!
I'm surprised that you you don't feel any subjective speed increases though. I would have thought that when accessing applications stored on your SD card, or when you initially remount your SD card and have to search through media using Gallery, that the difference would have been significant.
Although it is possible that our phones doesn't support much more than Class 2 speeds.
But, at least we know that the Lexar card is compatible with the Droid/Milestone!

Class 2 is (roughly speaking) 2MB/s writing speed. Imagine you want to copy a lot of mp3's or a movie (or use it as USB dongle) with 2MB/s. unusable.

Oh sure, I understand that a faster card will make file transfers with my desktop much faster. I guess I was hoping to get more of a performance boost from my phone (ie. Apps2SD) with a faster card.
I'm not sure I'd call 2MB/S unusable for desktop file transfers. But, then again I don't change the music on my phone more than once a month. I can see it being more troublesome if you changed it more regularly. And hey, more speed is always good

Yes, that's a great point. I just don't know if the Droid/Milestone can take advantage of a microSDHC card with a higher transfer rate than Class 2.
Have you tried a faster card with your phone?
Does anyone have any comparison numbers with faster cards and application loading using Apps2SD?

I get similar results from my no-name stock 16GB card.
I'm using the Patriot 32GB microSDHC class 10, so far it works well in my milestone.
Below is the screenshot by SD tool.
A comment:

In my place, there are many persons who are using this sdhc, so don't worry MS can support it.
In our experenice from our fourm, some MS work great and nothing happened.
But, some MS including my MS have the problem about reboot, app exit when you are using it, if you move a large quantity of files once a time from PC to MS.
There is also a problem from my experenice, not for all others.
My MS could not identify the SD card, or need to format the Sd card.
In this situation, the SD card repairation by some sd format app could be settle the problem, and then the card is back. The information of the repairation shows that there are some unknow link, bad sector, or error link. When I look further, I find the files that often appear above three error message are in the below folders /sdcard/LOST.DIR and /sdcard/LazyList. Thus I think these are the reason why the problem happens.
There is an interesting thing. I have fat and ext partitions in my card, but the partition of ext never has any problems. Last month, I format the fat32 by 64K formation, and it works well so far. (someone prefers 32K)
The speed increase. Yes, but not so significantly. I feel the system is more smooth. The delay when open the app is also less, but you know the speed also involve the size of memory. So, it's haven't extreme different.

32gb corsair/ocz ssd and 2-4gb extra ram , maybe a q6600 (they go for dirt cheap and oc nicely)
this should be about 200-220 pounds , any money spent higher than that this on an upgrade is unreasonable
also with ssd , as long as its a brand the newer the better , make sure ur not gettin some 1-2 yr old leftover from stock
My primary drive with my OS on is currently 74 GB. This is the perfect size for me as it's always got 60 - 70 GB of data on. If I get a SSD I would probably want it to be a similar size. 32 GB just seems too small. Maybe something like this...

It's interesting you suggested memory. For some stupid reason it didn't come to mind that I am just scraping Windows 7's minimum requirements. I guess its things like that which make me always ask on forums first! A fresh 4 GB ram would probably help a lot more than an upgraded CPU. I was looking at something like this...

you dont need a sound card nowdays for the typical user ... and he isnt a gamer so i guess he doesnt need a better gfx , gtx+ is fairly decent , around a 4870 or 4890 , should be able to play crysis 2 on hardcore setting
also there decent enuff 775 cpu's to make the jump to am3 or intel i series unreasoned
and coming from a 3.5gb ddr1 400 config to a 2gb , later 6gb ddr3 1600 config i can tell the speed of the ram is hardly noticable , the trouble starts when it runs out

Instead I like the sound of the cheaper option (SSD and RAM). That would probably fit my demands, and if not I can make another upgrade and carry across the SSD.

new rams go in orange old in black and you should be gettin dual channel ... ull need a 64bit os tho
any of the new sandybridge cpu's are nice. I upgraded from an e6600 at the beginning of the year (new mobo and mem, kept hdd and everything else) and the upgrade was night/day.

ive done the same from amd single core 1800mhz to quad core 3400mhz and on my day to day tasks(other than games) i find myself waiting for my slow hdd as i did with the old comp ... ssd would be the first thing i get ... but im always busy changing phones
Haven't really tried SSDs yet... I have way too much stuff to use an SDD effectively. I'd suggest that you go for upgrades that'll stay for a while, like going for a REALLY good processor, mobo and RAM combo and then start thinking about upgrading the other stuff.

I was worried the same thing would happen to me. Everyone I have spoken to who made the jump to a SSD has been amazed.

I have 2TB of media but my plan is to put OS on SSD and media on other drives. That setup should use SSD effectively. I agree completely with the rest of your post. I would love a nice new 'REALLY' good SandyBridge CPU, Mobo and RAM but that will blow my budget apart. By getting a good SSD it will stay for a while and be transferable from any system to any system too.
If I am unhappy with SSD choice I can always save again and make the move to SandyBridge at a later date.
I want so steer the whole conversation in a new direction now...
What SSD would people recommend?

I know that for the same price I can get the new Intel SSD's in a 120GB variant but reviews suggest that the Intel X-25M and the OCZ Revodrive both beat the new Intel. As my aim is performance and as i dont need that extra space on my primary drive i have ruled it out.
The question is should I future proof my buy by stretching my budget to an OCZ Vertex 3.

I need an SD card.
I have done 7a bit of research.
Now it's all getting very complicated.
What I think I am looking for is
64gb sdxc
Class 10
But 4k write speed of 1.5mb
Apparently most class 10 have slow 4k write speed. 4k writespeed is used for many features with the faster non 4k writespeed reserved for intensive files.
I have tried to talk downv the above to no avail.
Is anyone able to help me find a card that complies with all three of the above requirements?

Net result is that the sandisk 64 gb ultra card is good.
It's 4k (random) speeds are fast enough.
No difference between ultra and mobile ultra other than age (though some suggest that the mobile ultra is only class6)
It also appears that u can buy ultra from US and mobile ultra from UK.

I just like to have the latest possible functionality if I am spending the money.
I have heard (I am no expert) that if you are running apps from the SD card then you need the 4k speeds.
My most important issue is that it appears to be unclear when you are buying these cards from Amazon.co.uk whether the cards are class 6 or class 10.
They never specify the "Model code"

When using apps, yup, I guess it would be writing tiny files so your performance might be impacted depending on your configuration. However, games don't really write to disk that often... Maybe when it's saving... but that would hardly affect you ux.
I dunno, I can't really think of a practical scenario when your ux would be impacted by this.
Ambiguous labeling seems to be a separate issue.

That is the 40 euro question. You can't even tell if a card is a genuine sandisk, or actually 64 gb until you get ut. Some sellers are extra devious they trick the cards into reporting they are 64gb capacity, and your computer will say they are 64...but they will only store 4 or 2 gb (the seller rebranded a 2gb). This is specially ytue from ebay purchases.
Typically, personally anyway, I just go with a trusted seller...typically the ones specifically sold by amazon.
(Really love the stock keyboard but it needs autocorrect-on-space ala swiftkey. Going back to SwiftKey Flow beta... No number row though =( )

That's fits in with what I have read before.
The real problem is trying to distinguish between class 6 and class 10.
It's never stated on the card itself so u can't tell if the seller is misdescribing.
Get the samsung MB-MGCGB
Class 10 (70 MB/sec Read, 20MB/sec Write.
I've had the sandisk and when transferring 4-5 gig movies there's absolutely no comparison... but they're about $100 for the samsung...

Im surprised that no phones released this year have usb 3.0 , you can really feel a difference (if you have a computer that supports it of course) , xperia z also has usb 2.0
Phones now are way too expensive and OEMs are already trying their best leveling the features and have reasonable priced devices. Assembling all the latest techs on their flagship device would just end up having an very2x expensive device.
Would you pay for a phone which is more than $1000+ price for a pimped up specs?
Also the internal storage and sd cards on phone would not even come close to reaching the max transfer rates of usb 3.0 so it would be just as pointless.

your reasoning is incredibly ... point is that USB 2.0 transfer rates are too low for file sizes we are transferring now. WE NEED USB 3.0 more than we need 400ppi+ displays, 2gb of ram or quad core processors

So don't buy a phone with 2gb ram, quad core processor and 400ppi... and wait for one that features USB 3.0 if that's how you feel?
It's obvious that the MAJORITY of people are happy with USB 2.0 for the kind of stuff you put on a mobile phone... let's not forget, you load some music, maybe a movie? Your hardly using this to back up your life.

We also need holographic screens and the Star Trek computer. Whats your point? 1080p screens, RAM and processors are technologies that are available and affordable for mass production. NAND chips that could saturate USB 3.0 are not

Yep, I believe that the only reason or at least the main reason for why we don't have USB3.0 in phones and tablets yet is because current chipsets that get put in these devices simply don't support it.
But this will change very soon as Tegra 4 does support USB3 and so I am assuming that any future device that will come out powered by Tegra 3 will have USB3, and everyone else will try to catch up after that...

why do you think NAND bandwidth has to be equal to bandwidth of USB 3.0 for it to make sense? point is that USB 2.0 in real world get's us a around 30 MB/s mark while we could get let's say a 60MB/s with USB 3.0 and cut in half transfer time of large files. (from 5-6 min for 10GB using USB 2 to 2-3 min using USB 3). Isn't that enough to justify it?

point is that we are using same old tech that we used to "fill up" (or download from) a phone with 8 GB of memory and phone memory capacity has been bumped to 32GB+.

Like how fast do you even get with a class 10 microSDXC? 6-8mb maybe? Way far from the 30MB/s speed capacity. I'd say you need at least a class 40 microSDXC card for you to require a USB 3.0 thing is the bottleneck of current phone storage right now is not the connector technology but the storage speed itself.

USB 3.0 would be useful to attach an external SATA 3.0 SSD/ dock.
The majority of the people don't have USB 3.0 yet. So I doubt any OEM is in a hurry to add that feature just so that a handful of people could actually use it.
I'd say maybe 2 more generations before we see that on a phone. Just a guess

I know that. But my point is Ultra version has the capacity to reach upto 30mb/s whereas extreme pro has 90mb/s but as you can see the data transfer is only capped at 4mb/s to 5mb/s.
Please do some research first with UHS technology before contradicting comments please. I have solid proof yet yours only are based on screenshots.
BTW I could reach transfer speed of up to 28mb/s with the same card if I format it into exfat filesystem and connect it directly to a USB 2.0 port. Like I said the limit is not the connector technology but the filesystem itself and card technology itself.
If that's how you look at things then feel free to call all the phone owners in the world apple fanboys cause everyone having a high end phone is only using USB2.0 technology. Go post on android general section so alot more expert users could enlighten you.
And if you still insist go buy one yourself and connect it on your android phone then try to reach the limitation of USB 2.0 with your extreme pro card.
Anyways believe on what you think is correct. It's too futile to explain very advanced explanations on a average user. Just try it to believe it :good:

It would appear from some reports (based on an OEM marketing release from Samsung) that the Exyenos 5 Dual SoC will support USB 3 ... however this only refers to the Exyenos 5 Dual ... NOT the Exyenos Octa.
As for the USB people themselves ... http://www.phonearena.com/news/USB-...ging-transfer-speeds-of-up-to-800Mbps_id25569 raises hopes and then throttles expectations in one small article.
I think I'm going to wait until everyone offers the same hardware configuration before I rush out looking for something I'm very unlikely ever to need or use. After all, they're all (Exyenos, Snapdragon, Tegra, etc) based on ARM Cores and Nvidia and Qualcomm are already there. Thee Tegra 4 and the Snapdragon 800 are both capable of USB 3 support so the next Generation HTC will certainly have the processing power to do it ... whether they choose to implement it will, as always, be a market driven decision.

Hello guys, My question is about these three devices' storage space.
I want to know if any one of these can handle files larger than 4gb. In other words, Are they formatted in NTFS or ExFat or Can they be formatted in NTFS/ExFat?
As Redmi's storage can be extended, first how much can it be extended and Is it possible to expand it with NTFS/ExFat formatted SD Card?
As Moto's supports expansion up to 128GB and as per my knowledge FAT 32 only supports partitions upto 32GB, So can it handle NTFS/ExFat Formatted Card?
If none of above is possible then do these support NTFS formatted ext. Hard Drive through OTG?
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED as soon as possible, AS I WANT TO BUY A DEVICE as soon as possible.

Zuk z1 can also handle files larger 4gb in internal memory. I had star wars 7 Blu-ray rip, 14Gb and I watched it with ZUK flawlessly [emoji106]

Yours in Spanish I think, was it 54 GB? Was the whole space emptied before or a little bit occupied?

What did you mean with Spanish? There is always a little bit space occupied by apps, pictures and other media. But 55gb is nearly true.

No I meant by the language used in phone like audiodateien, andere, erkunden. Sorry for misunderstanding.
And I meant was the full 54GB free fully from the beginning, like sometimes already installed apps occupy some space that's why?

Android collects and sorts different files. Audiodateien = audio files, andere = others, erkunden = explore. In the second picture you can see which total amount of space you can use. Nearly 56GB.

40,7gb media, 11,7gb free space = 51gb. Apps I have installed 3,7gb. If you delete all, then you can have nearly all 56gb.

Out of 64 gb u get approx 54 gb free and z1 can handle any size file
Out of 64GB, you will get 54.69 GB and can copy any file without any size restriction. File transfer speed is also pretty decent since it uses Type C cable.

Just for info: The cable connector type doesn't have to do with the speed! There are also phones out there using TYPE-C, but only @ 2.0 speed instead of 3.0 like zuk z1. On the other hand, the zuk isn't quick charge capable, as the additional data lanes will be used for 3.0 speed and cannot used for quick charge modes.
