Wi-Fi Calling Draining Battery - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Anyone notice their battery going down the tube with Wifi Calling on? My phone has been off battery for 8 hrs, its at 58% and showing 33% usage for Wi-fi calling. The next closest thing is 9% for Blinkfeed.

I have the same problem too. I even turned off "Wi-Fi Calling" in Settings and "Force Close" it. However, the Wi-Fi Calling app is still draining battery

FYI. You can use titanium backup to freeze the wi-fi calling app to eliminate the drain until the fix comes out. You have to reboot after freezing

Thank you for the info! The app is no longer running.

That's very weird. I use it to save battery keeps the cellular radios off. Can go over 8 hours maybe 10% drain. Running captains stock rooted rom. It was a clean install. Make sure your firmware and radios are updated, do a hard reset.wifi calling has been working great for me

Does anyone have wifi tethering working (without paying the $30 to Verizon)

Does anyone have wifi tethering working without paying the $30 to Verizon? The problem seems to be whether the Bionic is seen as an ad-hoc network or as an AP. My Xoom (wifi only) won't talk to the Bionic as an adhoc network.
Any ideas?
i have bluetooth tethering working. from the stock bluetooth adapter on the phone.

Yes I am positive. I tethered my galaxy tab to my bionic. I just searched for bluetooth devices, paired and that was it. Keep in mind though its not super fast, but I was getting 1 or so mb download speed with 2 bars and 3g cutting out at my house. Its a dead zone where I live.

Did you check CPU usage at tethering? I am sure that it use 100% of one CPU (50% of dual CPU) because dnsmasq have a bug.
No that I didn't check. I would assume it would use the same as the wifi tether app does on other phones. I'll run it for a while to get a benchmark for you.

Actually I just checked. I tethered for about a half hour before and Bluetooth is up to 11%. Its not showing how many cores are being used. But that's not a bad percentage

It is wrong. Bluetooth PAN use absolutely different way. It has to use much less energy because the do not use the WiFi AP. And I guess that Bluetooth tethering is not detectable yet.
I use OS monitor (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eolwral.osmonitor&feature=search_result) to check CPU usage. Just connect your tablet and check CPU usage in OS monitor. It would show about 50% of CPU usage by System process.

Is your battery drain 11% for half hour? Or you look at bluetooth usage in battery manager? You will never see this usage as bluetooth usage because it used by system process. Check it in OS monitor or ...just touch you phone...I guess that it should be hot...very hot.
I checked it under battery manager. Other than tethering Bluetooth was never on. 11% was the CPU drain under Bluetooth. I have an otter box case on so if there was heat I wouldn't feel it for a while. I just don't like taking the case off, its a pain in the ass

It is not bluetooth CPU usage. DNSMASQ is system process....not bluetooth. But it started on Bluetooth PAN connection as DHCP server. And I am not sure that you can see System usage in battery manager. What is the real battery drain in half hour?
I downloaded os manager. I ran a few sites while connected and then checked. System is at 24% os manager is at 30%. Seems to be running the cpu at a relative low range or is it just me?

30% for os manager is too much but may be you need to wait some time to stabilize it. But any way 30+24=54. It mean that most time both applications work on same CPU and use it at 100%. Without Bluetooth tethering your system usage should be < 1%

WiFi tethering use lot of power because WiFi AP mode required it. Bluetooth use a little power but CPU usage is too high because DNSMASQ has a bug. Try to replace dnsmasq to fixed version and you will see the difference.

Green Power drains battery

Hey everyone,
after flashing thousands of kernels and ROMs I finally found out what drains my battery: It's Green Power (I even bought premium...)!
This app is supposed to SAVE battery via toggling data on and off like Juice Defender but somehow it makes my CPU run mad... Has anyone else experienced this so far? I'm really upset cuz I paid money for this crappy app but I'm also glad that I found eventually out the cause of draining
Cheers!
pfff.. discovery... GreenPiss is draining my wallet, so it is logic that GreenPower will drain your battery...
I use green power premium too, but so far I haven't any problem with battery drain.
Why you think that it's the cause?

Battery burning super fast?

Whilst I have been having the screen on, it shouldn't be burning this fast and it certainly didn't use to. 23 minutes on battery and 20% burned?
Did you install a new rom or new kernel? You can install an app like BetterBatteryStats to check out what might be causing this battery drain.

Stock ROM 4.0.4 and have never rooted or flashed anything on before. It is completely stock and unaltered in every way. All I've done is install apps. It just seems to have been a little bad recently. I have BetterBatteryStats on, but the it isn't wakelocks. As I said, I've got the screen on consistently so the phone will always be awake. It is just that 20% in that amount of time seems really high, even for constant use, and I swear it didn't use to be that bad. I've installed Juice Defender because it tends to be good in how it managers network and WiFi. So far, things seem to be stabilising. But, I still want to know what can cause such sharp drainage...
Do you have a lot of apps running in the background? This is most likely the cause. Brightness is a big issue also. Flash a kernal!

Check that you have Auto-brightness enabled. Also, I found that certain apps can drain battery big time. I agree with checking via a battery stats program. Maybe an APP is running in the background causing the cpu to stay at max speed?

Totally agree. Before I root my Note to delete some unuse apps from stock 4.0.4, the battery drains very fast. The most reason is some apps running in the background.
Did you change your sim recently? Sometimes the culprit is sim card.

Not fixes, but suggestions:
- An app like Green Power will stop data usage when screen off
- As others said, look into your display. My favourite app is Display Brightness as it adds an invisible slider on your screen
- For some reason, Chrome in the last week began to EAT my phone. I uninstalled it and I'm back to a blessed 1% an hour drain

You may have to check your battery. Will it be hot when you are using it? Look at your battery, does it look "fat"? It happened once to me before, after changing a new battery. It's fine now. It was caused by overcharging it during the night.
I experienced it on my previous phone, now im going to prove it again in my note because i changed my sim recently and now i cannot achieved the 5 hrs i had before that my original sim card, best phone can do now is 3.5 hrs. I try to contact my provider if they can restore my previous sim card and see what will happen, its just a suspect.

[Q] Phone is always awake (battery drain overnight)

So I got my One two days ago and installed some apps, running on stock 4.1.2.
According to the system monitor my phone is ALWAYS AWAKE, even when I turn it off and only plug in the charger.
How can I solve it, how can I find what app is keeping my phone awake? I am losing like 50% battery overnight while in airplane mode
Thanks, BBLN.

So try with an hard reset or see in dev settigs if there is the voice selected

Can be the MSM_HSIC_HOST kernel wakelock that is causing your battery drain..
im using 3g all the time and i dont have problems i think u were using your phone differently so you cant compare battery life
There is some strange issue with 4.3 firmware. I've incredible battery drain too.
In early versions i get full one day usege with 3g only network and 3 exchange mail account on push mail settings. Now, nearly 6 hr, and battery low alert.
Realized fast dormacy, disabled for my network, did not solved. Totally uninstalled fast dormacy stiil same. Exchange servise drains all the time.
There is no much wake lock in battery log, there is no special application that drains, but still, like phone does not get in deep sleep state. I dont have and horizontal line in battery stats.
Most of people says, battery is better then before, but most of them do not use phone like me.
Seriously, i consider to revert back 4.2.2
Ps, i even tried to factory default. That was pain in my a.s. because of installing applications and made settings. Still i dont have proper solution.

Stock kernel is so simple developed and doesn't have any real power saving functions at all. Just like Sony throwed some kernel coding together and didn't really test it at all on anything else than stability..
My opinion is this.. Using stock / Advanced stock kernel is like demanding battery issues for free.
