I own a S4 and was thinking about selling it for the xperia z.
Is there anyone thats owned both of so
What made you choice the z over the s4 or vise versa?

i worked with S4 and read lots of review and ...
and i have xz (cause i bought it before S4)
of course S4 is so fast but lots of people report lags as always in samsung smartphones but in launcher level u can use another launcher so it s not matter
S4 has so good camera quality (better optimization than x Z so far)
u can watch youtube about drop tests > S4 will break easily ! But X Z has more durability and of course IP57
but about screen quality
X Z has very good quality (at least in my experience since first firmware till now) and i compared it with noteII, S3 and S4 > X Z has brighter screen
performance of X Z is awesome and i don't see any delay to load home screen after playing FHD 3D games but samsung has lag even on Octa-cores (i don't understand WHY !?)
about design;
X Z has its special design called omni-balance as u know and another special thing for durability
S4 is lite and with 5" it s really comfortable (maybe this design caused to break and crack easily!)
that was my experiences about both device (however u know S4 part )

I'm happy that I got the Z and I came from S4. Only 2nd day though. The camera lag on the S4 annoyed me. Pictures with the Z snap instantly. Will say more in a few days.

I read it a few times and nope. The Sony Z might have lags elsewhere but the camera has no lag the S4 does.

The only time the camera lags is in the first time u lunch it afterwards it has no lag. Xperia Z.

The s4 is easier to hold in one hand and also for one hand operations as u may know..whereas the xz has an amazing design and feel..the recent 4.2.2 update improved many things but some minor lags are present in the ui,which we all know will be fixed soon....I would choose the xz forever..

'Better' is subjective. Try both phones in a shop or something and decide for yourself. Any opinions you get here will not help you as people have differing requirements, expectations and opinions on things.

For battery life - Note 2
Everything else - Z (looks, speed, resolution, water proof, wireless charging dock, Stable AOSP ROMS etc)

After samsung sgs3 i found xperia Z WAY faster in main menu and most apps. But games are awful, because Z is heating and throttling. Heating is a REAL problem, especialy in summer heat)))

I'm also hear the xperia z have a weak sound

C6603 ?

I was using nexus 4 then went to xz (broke it) now temporarily using friends note 2. I have to say this.
Note 2's battery is amazing.
Overall nexus is probably the smoothest phone.
What I feel snappiest is probably the xz. I like the xz's camera. Xz's speaker is pretty weak probably because of it's water resistant feature.
If I could.... nexus with a expansion slot and better camera would win hands down. Wait a second.... xz has the same processor and such with the features I want plus it's a really beautiful phone and awesome display. Let's just say I miss my xz right now.... and nexus 4 development.... but hey things are picking up over here. Honestly I would choose the xz over the note 2 I'm using right now.

Xperia Z vs Xperia ZR?

Hi guys i decided to get a new phone recently and i am between the Z and the ZR
They are extremely similar with someminor differences so i thought to ask here
Which one do u recommend?
The Z has larger screen and rsolution and looks better
The zr has more battery juice and its replacable and more comfortable to hold in hand
Could u guys help me with this ever help is much appreciated

For me ZR is better + compact.

I would say the ZR is better. The specs are nearly identical but the ZR has better battery life and is more compact which is what's important to me. The only thing that would make the Z better than the ZR for some people is the screen size, but i just don't want a phone with a 5inch screen.

For me, ZR is:
*Perfect in Size
*removable battery
*the camera result better than Z (in my opinion)
*better contrast (in my opinion too)
What i dont like in Z :
*5inch is too big for me
*too much issue (i've seen so much report from Z user in forum like Screen Cracking it self, Overheating, etc)
*Non-Removable Battery+Drain so fast

Will hard to dismiss / reject one another Xperia unit in the collection..
Thinking about ordering it next week..

If you like to flashing, buy the flagship one, like xperia Z, there are many developer on that forum...

If you still would like to have a waterproof one,then go for Xperia Z series (depends on your budget to choose),all were waterproof...

I already have the Xperia Z1 C6903 + Tablet Z Wifi Only (Pollux_Windy device) in my collection. Did own the first Z a couple of months ago, but sold it, and got a special retail deal on the Z1 instead. Will get the Z2 once I am visiting Turkey in the end of May..

Why Xperia ZR is under Legacy & Low Activity Devices category? isn't it odd for a relatively new device?

Xperia Z ZL and ZR are 3 siblings out of which Z is the most active forum. most devs are working on Z and then some devs port it to ZL and ZR
thats why its low activity device

siurabhp is right, most devs only do Z modding, some devs port the mods to ZL and ZR. However, out of the 3 siblings, ZR is the most difficult to port to, because unlike Z and ZL which have 1080p screen, ZR has 720p:good:

So basically this means ZR owners have fewer options in custom ROMs and have to wait longer to get new ones (if by any chance someone port it), right?

yes u r right. I had xperia SP and its forum was much more active than XZR. i really wonder what made me chose XZR should have gone for z1

I bought ZR as soon as it came out- just because there was no alternative (waterproof, compact size).
I wonder how the Z3 Compact will do compared to ZR.

LOL I didn't think as much as you guys do. I brought it because of three reasons.
Consideration:
ALL handsets -(i want android)- ALL androids -(i want sony flagships, because i watch TV at my bath)- Sony Z series -(i want removable battery)- xperia ZR:good::good:

I hope you are right. However, the "get out of legacy category" equals "more developers" logic is somewhat flawed. Because developing for ZR isn't paying off!:crying:

I would definitely donate for a good and reliable ROM. Better investment than upgrading my phone
