Is the S5 worth it? I need your opinion - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I have someone who wants my note 3 for their S5. Is it a fair trade?
One thing that bothers me is that my phone has twice the memory.
Plus the thin bezel on the note 3 looks hella better.
What do you guys think? Performance and resale value wise?

I love my s5 to death. I take advantage of the waterproof so often its amazing.

That's one thing I really like about the S5 but that's about it

Its a deal breaker to me. Plus i get around 8 hours on screen time.

It really comes down to your needs. The s5 and the note 3 are pretty similar specs wise except for:
-s5 has better processor
-note 3 has more ram
-s5 has better battery and is water RESISTANT
-note 3 has a bigger screen and a stylus
-s5 has a better camera
Personally I would take the s5 since I find the better camera, water/dust resistance and a snappier processor to be better tradeoffs than a bigger screen and 1gb more ram
Also, the fake leather back might wear off quickly if you're not careful

The S5 battery lasts longer than the note 3? I usually get 4.5 hour screen time with heavy use and 20 hours
This is using greenify and debloated

Smaller screen means less juice to power it. I have the S4 but I had a friend's S5 for a few days and was impressed. If I have to chose an upgrade right now I'll go with the S5 since the Note 3 looks too big to handle as a phone and bigger screen will drain your battery pretty fast. There is nothing a note 3 can do than the S5 can't plus you get water/dust resistance. :good:

Anyone upgrade from the S4 to N3 ?

Just curious if anyone had the ATT Galaxy S4 earlier, and moved up to the Note 3 ? What are the differences, besides the obvious larger screen ?
- Battery life a ton better, or just little bit better ?
- Screen size hard to get used to on the N3, compared to the smaller S4 ?
- With the N3 being a 4.3 based OS, and also 3GB RAM & Snapdragon 800, is the N3 smooth and lag free ? My S4 feels a bit laggy here and there.
- Can the Note 3 still be pocketed easily, or hard to fit ? And no, I don't wear skinny jeans.
- Overall if you had the S4, and now the Note 3 was it a worthy upgrade ?
Thanks

- I'm not saying battery life is just a little bit better, ... it is better. But someone already tested its battery life saying it gives them 11 hours watching only movies before the screen goes off.
- The size is not that hard to get used to if youre using the S4 right now.
- I'm using stock ROM on my Note 3, so lag is something that you will expect to have with stock ROMs.
- Yes, it is pocketed easily
- It is a worth upgrade
the thing that I like about it is the S pen. It is really cool . I think thats what sets it aside from all products out there.
I agree, I get twice the battery life with n3 than I did with my s4. 3 ram is awesome screen is awesome. I personally see no lag. The main thing for me was 26gb storage compared to 8gb I had on s4.

I didnt have the ATT S4 but i did have the sprint verison and EVERYTHING about the Note 3 is better to me. And the size isnt as big as you would think it would be. If its your first note then ofcourse it will take a couple of days to get used to the size but after that every other phone actually looks really tiny not because your phone is huge or anything but you just get used to the feeling of the phone.
I switched from the S4 to the Note 3. My first time ever paying retail for a phone. It was simply that much better and to my liking. Every phone has its ups and downs. For me, I switched for the bigger screen, S-Pen, sleek design, more memory, 32gb storage, faster processor... and because I crave the latest and greatest. The battery life ended up being incredible. A huge upgrade from the S4.
Def worth upgrade... battery is WAY better.. screen is brighter... more ram.

I upgraded and love it. I wanted a device that was both, as I was tired of having a tablet and a phone. The note sits perfectly right in the middle.
Battery life is amazing.
i updated. had the note 2, went to the s3, then the s4, and now the note 3. took a couple days to get used to screen size again, but now i am in love with it. i do a lot of reading and browsing on my phone now and days, also watch tv shows and movies on it. the screen size has been awesome. and battery is even better. i spent most of last sunday watching football on my direct tv sunday ticket app. lasted pretty much the ENTIRE day, even had juice to spare when i was done with it.
im still not rooted yet.. disabled a lot of the bloat through the built in manage apps settings. would like to make use of my TiBu, but am waiting for a solid root option.
thinking if i should update with the recent update that just came out.
I updated and rooted with kingo

I had an S3, Note2, S4, and now to the Note3.
I didn't like the N2 because of the 720 screen, and the S4 'fixed' that for me. The S4 is awesome, but I missed the big size of the Note3. I don't use the S pen at all.
I have both but I say s4 camera is better
(and the rest is perfect imo for the note3) I compared them especially night shots, s4 shots are more black and crisp compared to note3s noisy/washed out pictures (night), I don't know maybe its just their ppi counts because s4 ppi is higher than the note3 I believe

Better battery life Note 3 or One M8 ?

I am thinking of upgrading from my S4, which gets middle of the raod battery life, like 4.5h On Screen time. I am looking for something that gets 6h On Screen time minimum. I am thinking either the Note 3 or One M8. I want better battery life #1, and a good screen for outdoor use #2, and just an overall speedier / faster phone. Which phone gives better battery life ? A rooted and ROM'd new One M8 ? Or a ROM'd Note 3 ?
But I am disappointed with the U.S. carriers + Samsung for being Nazis and locking this Note 3 down so tight, that sucks to see. I have my S4 rooted, with all the good tweaks that come with rooting, like removing all the garbage bloatware, and apps like AdAway, Greenify, etc... And Wanam Xposed.
Thank you.
P.S. I played with an S5 at the store, and really liked the revised looking Touchwiz, looks much much better flat now, and the Phone and Contacts apps seemed way faster, and just different in a good way, compared to my S4. Would love to see the Note 3 with the S5 .apk's.
I get 3 or 4 days battery life on my Note 3 I'm rooted,,,Htc is inferior to the Note,,,Go with the Note 3 .

Why do people even bother to say they get insane battery life, when they know they do not!? To get that kind of battery life, you must only send a few texts per day, and maybe make a call or two. I'd love to see those battery stats.
REAL usage only lets you get close to a day, and even less. Anything streaming, you can count on definitely less than a day. Just sayin!
battery life is pretty good. if you intend of get the note 3, get it on tmobile so its easier to flash roms and such. but keep in mind, the note 4 is around the corner. that being said, the m8 just came out. so yeah.
Yeah you caught me I'm lying Lol...lots of texts and use the phone,, I will post a screenshot for you..

[Q] Is the S5 worth it? I need your opinion!

I have a Tmobile Galaxy Note 3 unlocked which I use with AT&T.
I am debating on trading for an AT&T Galaxy S5 16 GB.
the question is.. is it worth it to do straight up swap for 16gb S5 since my Note 3 has twice the memory and more power.
Please let me know what you guys think!
Most definitely, I had the s3 with latest rom & I have to say this s5 kills it in battery life, speed, smoothness. Plus the camera is phenomenal. This is probably the best phone out currently. Plus we got root, the easiest ever and recovery. I have already debloated and installed V4A, PLUS most all my favorite apps.

If I were given the chance to go back in time and remake my upgrade decision, I wouldn't have gone with the S5. I didn't do my research about the bootloader and knox, which I had no problem with on my S3, and I am now considering trading my sister for her Nexus 5.
If it had unlocked bootloader I still wouldn't go with it. I feel like Samsung is slowly turning into Apple. Giving you outdated tech and saying it's new. Why didn't they put a better processor in the phone? Why didn't they put 3GB of ram in the phone. Why only 16GB of internal space? Why so when and if they push the Galaxy S5 prime/ Galaxy F they can give you what they should of in the first place? I'm on a rooted LG G3 and I love it. Glad I picked this phone.

I seriously doubt you'll actually need 3gb of ram. I understand that samsung decision to not include it when the tech is there is stupid but nonetheless, anything above the current flagship standard is frivolous (unless we suddenly reach the next generation of mobile apps and gaming). That being said, just the water resistance and battery alone is totally worth an upgrade. I've never had a phone that even comes close to the s5's battery and I've had them all from older galaxies to blackberries to iphones

Looking at the specs on Phonescoop, the note has a bigger screen and more memory, a little slower processor, not as good a camera. If camera is super important to you, you might want to switch. I'd guess the processor speed difference isn't noticeable to most. Think about it in depth before you switch. Also although the camera is better, there is still not more than 4x zoom. I love my s5 but this sounds like a really close call for you.

I had the note 3 and sold it.went back to the s4 for a bit and now the s5. I think you shouldn't have any regrets after switching. Phone is tough http://bgr.com/2014/04/02/galaxy-s5-drop-test-video/
I would go with the S 5 Active or the HTC (M8). At least with the M8 you can unlock your bootloader and get root.
All we have for the S 5 is root and safestrap (Which is awesome) Thats all you should have for the Note 3 right?
Dont get me wrong, you will be happy with the S 5 but a lot of people are extremely happy with the HTC M8.
HTC actually had an 30% sales increase since this phone and business is looking good for them!!!
Samsung is going the wrong way in my mind. They want more corporate peeps.....
PS: I had the Note 3 before this S 5 and I like the S 5 better.

Trade my note 4 for s5 plus cash?

Well I love the note I can't stop but feel it's screen is too much. My old s5 had better battery and was more practical in everyday use. Am I crazy but I had offers for an s5 plus 100 bucks for my note 4 or a oneplus one 64 gig plus 100. What should I do???

one plus one retail is 350, used even in nice condition is like 300~. so 300 + 100 is 400 lol. you can sell your note 4 if in good condition for like 550+
the same is about for the s5. i suggest you should wait and get the s6 and add 100-150 + your note 4 for it.
Is the One + One that much smaller then the Note 4. Man the design, feel and look on the Note 4 is damn sexy. lol
Yeah don't wanna make a mistake and regret my decision. When I mean screen I mean how it sucks up battery and doesn't feel as snappy as I thought it would be.

better battery ROFLMAO ok
That's like saying I want to trade my BMW for a Honda Civic and $1,000
The one plus one is pretty big btw, go for the S5 if you really can't handle the big screen
Don't do it the note is the best android phone as far as holding value. An s5 can be found for $300 used and a used note goes for more than $400. As the s6 comes out the 5 will be worth considerably less

S6 camera sounds like its going to be really great. I was fine with the G3. Obviously I
get bored with phones rather quickly.
I'm still with my note as of today I got better offers but can't see myself leaving this phone. The screen size itself is not the issue it's idk I feel it's not as snappy as my oneplus was. And my camera isn't as quick and has troubles focusing. I loved the g3 but went through 4 units dealing with terrible battery life and constant overheating issues. I might just stick around and see what the s6 offers.

Better battery life? Are you joking?
If it helps you, I have the S5 now and I'm looking into getting the Note 4.
S5 gets really sluggish for me, even debloated. I have issues with calls and etc
Hoping note 4 would. Be a good switch!

note 5 upgrade

Looking to upgrade to the NOTE 5. But not sure if it would be worth it yet. I do like the display and that is usually the biggest reason for me. NOTE 4 display still looks hot and roms for note 5 are starting to roll out. What do you think?
Depends. Do you value expandable storage, removable battery, and IR? If so then the note 5 would not be a good upgrade. I personally think the note 4 is still a top of the line device, its not even a year old yet. IMO the note 5 feels more like a sidegrade than an upgrade.
Do it battery sucks on the note 4 I get anywhere from 3-3 1/2 hours I'm upgrading to the note 5 cuz honestly the lack of sd storage and non removable battery actually sounds like a plus right now

Battery life depends on the user . 6hr sot is wishful thinking if you use your phone. If you don't do alot on your phone then i can see that but why would you buy a note . I rather get that new Huawei nexus at half the price. Anything over a 1,000 is just wasted money if you have a note 4 ,the note 5 is better but not 1,000 better no way.

i actually have to agree here, i upgraded to the note 5 for a total of 3 weeks, and i found that i REALLY missed having 140gb of storage on my device.
not to mention the ir remote for my tv and some other ir devices. im not sure how you getting 3h of battery life on the device though... i have CM12 on my n910w8 and i get home to a decent 35% at the end of the day with med heavy use. i can see if you are using gps then 3h would seem about right. i cant think of any other ways of how one would drain the battery so quickly.
I think people should start saying they "updated" to the 5 instead of "upgrading." We all know not all updates are upgrades. Lollipop 5.0.x is an example of that. It doesn't just extend to software either.

Honestly without the SD Card and the battery makes it feel too much like the iPhone. If Galaxy phones are your thing go with the note 5, but at this point I would just get the iPhone. Samsung's trying so hard to COPY the iPhone why not just the original thing? lol
Really disappointed in the note 5, a lot of spen problems from what i hear as well.
Note 5 has no IR blaster - that I can live without. But no external microSD card and no removable battery? Sorry those are deal killers for me, I will not buy one because of this. Yes it would be nice to have the faster processor and the 4gig RAM instead of 3GIG rRAM does make it tempting ..plus it does have a better camera too. But these things ...at least for me...do not out weigh my need for microSD card and removable battery - so it's just not worth spending the money on it.
