I today got the message below PM'ed to me requesting money. Everybody take note it is a con as I have seen these before they usually end up sending you a fake cheque or you send them your account details and they take money from your account.

TT7 Paid Traffic Rip off

As to those that have the paid subscription....
When using TTHome, that it is priced at $29.99 until it actually bills your credit card.... then the price jumps to $59.99.
I have called TT support on it... they said that they can refund my money or I can pay the $59. They refuse to do a partial refund.
Here are the emails thus far....
Names have been changed to protect me.
Traffic over charge and non performance.

I understand.
But you guys are going to want to send out an update to TOM TOM home TODAY!
I have attached my screen shots for your convenience.
The practice of showing one price all the way through the purchase process and then doubling it at the time of credit card charge is not just poor customer service. This practice is specifically illegal in all 50 states and is referred to as "bait and switch".
While all I want is the difference refunded, some other enterprising customer isn't going to be as understanding as I am and sue you guys... and win.
I am not trying to threaten you... I just want my price honored for a product that I am willing to wait until you guys get it working.
Please let me know. For the record, I do not want a full refund. When it works, TT traffic is great.

Dear Cyjeff,
Thank you for taking the time to contact TomTom Support regarding traffic cost. It is our goal to provide you with an exceptional customer experience. We are always happy to help.
The cost for traffic is 59.99. We have not had this for the sale price of 29.95 since July 31st. This is why we are unable to provide you with a refund for the partial amount. You were charged the correct amount for the traffic subscription, as you purchased this on August 15th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have any further questions or comments, please email or call us at 866-486-6866 Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 7:00 PM EST. Thanks again for writing. At TomTom we believe in showing you the way the easy way.
With Best Regards,
Jamie

I understand your reluctance to refund a partial amount.
However, I am not really asking for a partial refund. I am asking for an incorrect overcharge to be backed out.
Maybe we need to look at this from another angle. How much is the going rate for Traffic? I paid $59.99.

I have two problems.
One, I recently bought the USA and Canada maps, but wanted to add traffic.
I thought I was paying $29.99 for the traffic add on until I got my bill. Which is the real price (see attached screenshots).
Two - I live in Atlanta. The TOM TOM traffic servers here work one day out of 3. Is this going to get better? If yes, in what time frame?

that's really taking people for stupid, like almost with any customer service when you ask money back.
Kee up the fight .
Was there a sentence like: you are booking now but until you've been charge we can not guarantee thr price? (that's what they are always doing online for flight booking, at least often...)
[Update]
Apparently, TOMTOM reads this forum.
For bringing this wrong to their attention, they are crediting me my overage AND provided me with a couple of maps gratis.
very pleased with the fast and professional turnaround.
Cyjeff
Why pay $59 for it when both google and microsoft provide it for free? Both Microsoft llive search and google mobile maps provide online traffic information for free.

yap microsoft works perfect especially on POI side, however if traveling in remote areas where data service not available those programs wont work,
I have both tomtom 7 and garmin xt and I prefer garmin xt, free traffic for life and really good looking maps

For me, it was two fold.
One, I travel all over the world and needed to have a solution that provided global mapping.
Two, I didn't want to have to swap out a dedicated SD card to use it.
That left me with TomTom.
In another topic it was mentioned that Garmin has free traffic subscription and is designed for driving, so might be better then Google Maps. Never used it myself though.

[haiti needs your help]

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/01/12/thoughts-and-prayers-haiti
I know people in Haiti (Family) so I ask XDA if they can simply help out! with our devices simply text to help out please.. I am sure 5 or 10 bucks added on to your next bill wouldn't hurt..
simply text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.
Here is a secondary option. We're asking individuals to donate $5.00 by texting 'YELE' to 501501. This amount will be billed on your next cellphone bill, simply meaning that you will receive an additional charge on your next bill. If you're unable to use this method, you may visit the site http://www.yele.org. Ladies and gentlemen, the people of Haiti are in great need of our help.
My condolences go out to all of the families that have been affected by this tragic event.

Only a few days left! Please tweet using the hashtag #warmandfuzzy today and over the weekend! If we hit 100,000 tweets my employer will donate $10,000 to the CMN hospital for the city that has the most tweets! It's easy and free! Please get involved.

Hi all,
My company just launched an online movement to spread goodwill, called the Warm&Fuzzy Federation. Because we want to prove that goodwill is contagious, we’ve made it our goal to send 100,000 Warm&Fuzzies out into the world by the Chinese New Year. Why is it so important we reach this goal? It means a local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital will receive a $10,000 donation from us, which will help them provide first-class care to kids who need it.
Here's a list of some simple ways you can start making your kindness count for our cause:
• Declare Warm&Fuzzies at www.WarmandFuzzyFederation.com or Tweet them using the hashtag #warmandfuzzy. You can also participate through our Facebook app. <http://www.facebook.com/WarmandFuzzyFederation>
• ReTweet and Facebook Like other peoples' Warm&Fuzzies. Celebrating the kindness of others count as Warm&Fuzzies, too!
• Spread the word to your friends, family and colleagues.
Please help us reach our goal by spreading the word about the kind deeds you're doing already! This is totally free, you don't need to install anything on your computer, etc.
Thank you!
Omg! I want a warm&fuzzy!!!!

Where's my Nexus 4 - Register Your Complaint

Hi,
I took the steps a day or so ago to try to coordinate the fractured and inconsistent information we are receiving from Google by making this site.
https://sites.google.com/site/nexus4cr
On it I am trying to provide accurate information based on registered complaints received and user comments from all threads here on XDA that appear to be consistent. There is also a page to help with calling them directly so they can recognise the questions that are most important.
The register is global in relation to the regions the Nexus 4 has been launched in.
Please register a complaint even if you have already received / cancelled your order but received poor service - it helps us in many ways.
Any questions, let me know. And we need more information from users in countries other than UK and US!
Thanks
Andy
Meh, said 1-2 weeks, and that's not up yet. So no, I won't be wasting their time and further delaying my phone because of stupid spreadsheets and trading standards threats.

Sorry you feel that way, 100's have already registered who have been waiting over a month when they were told 3-5 days, and have no idea what's going on with their money.
Just trying to be helpful, and maybe make life easier for everybody.
To be fair it probably got lost in Bedfords horrible Postal service.
