Xiaomi MI3 dosn´t start-up - no image on screen - just vibrates - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I bought an Xiaomi MI3 64 GB last 18 August and i have received it yesterday 21 August, from Antelife store.
I have configured the phone, installed lots of applications from Android Store, but the phone was not very stable. One time he has rebooted with out any reason.
At night, when i was sleeping, he start to vibrate, but i thought it was the battery finishing. It was strange because i have noted the phone was very hot.
At morning i tried to start the phone but never appears any image and the phone still vibrates from time to time, without appearing any image on the screen.
I have tried to put it charging and the flash led appears red and blinking continuously.
What´s wrong with the phone?
Please help me.
I live in Portugal.
Best regards.

Solved.
It was just an battery charge problem. Still doesn´t understand how he drains 43% of battery in standby last night! It was that percentage that he has when i laid my bed to sleep.
Any suggestion?!

Try formatting the device..and it is maybe because u had many apps running in background..if u still feel there is a problem go to a nearby service centre

new mobile battery is company charged u need to full charge first(100%) then after full discharged(0%) do this 2 or 3 times your battery life is increased .

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
The problem is solved. It seems to be an charging problem or particularity. After the first discharge, it will take about an hour connected to power, to start charging the battery. Then will be needed about 3 hours to full 100% charge. I think that is an battery optimization method from Xiaomi.

not bad

[Q] Weird status about battery

Guys. I had a very big problem here. My phone is just off the charger for about 10 min but the battery drops to 97% already. And I checked with the stamina mode which the battery only last for 18 hour and standby time only less then 2 days. Any idea about this? and any way to fix?
Thx.

How long have you owned the unit? I found mine needed a few charge cycles to become more stable.
One strange thing I have noticed is that whilst charging the notification light turns green at 90% for some reason, has anyone else noticed this?
Hi homer285. thanks for your reply. I had it for about a week only. So is it better I make some cycle charge for it to make it back to normal?
Thx.

that is normal for all Sony devices.
90% to 100% is green. below 90 is orange. and below 10 or something is red.

for the first part, the battery dropping so quickly, can you provide another screenshot for the battery and the apps working, to see which app consumed more battery. I usually charge my phone before going to sleep and after waking up ~9 hours later the battery drops from 100-96%.

For the second part, this is normal. the estimated battery gives indication depending on your usage (so yours will be different than mine). while standby is where your phone is not being used and thats why it is longer although it is quite little, my phone at 62% and says 3 days and 2 hours in standby mode.
if I didn't answer your question, please explain further but other screenshots would help as well, thx

I noticed this when charging mye phone the last time too. Maybe it is not quite calibrated yet? I did charge to 100% then totally drained it though, after charging it the first time out of the box.
Hi ahomad
Thx for ur reply. Attached is the photo of my battery usage for this morning.
I do understand what they mean but for the first few day usage my stamina standby time is up to 3-4days, just don't know what happen it dropped for used about a week.
And is it just the normal status or is it better to make some calibration for battery. If so, what is the best way to do that.
Thx.

you might have been playing games heavily (assuming the second app using most power is a game) thus the estimation was lowered as the phone assumed you will play more games in the coming days.
But from the picture you attached, you do have quite good battery as you were playing heavy game for 40 mins while having LTE on yet the battery dropped 9% which is really good
just ignore what the phone is telling as long as you don't see real world weakness of the battery performance. these estimates are never real just to give an indication

I've been having the same issue.
i have this phone 1 year now and i had the same problem few days ago...im not a heavy user,so the phone usually lasted for 2 days of normal usage...but few days ago after i charged it, the phone lasted like 8-9 hours and Android OS was eating my battery 68%, keeping my phone awake all the time...
so i left the phone to completely dry up the battery until it shut down itself...then when i connected to the charger even more strange thing happened, the phone recognized that it is charging (as usual), but the screen was kinda blinking green lights all over the screen (there was no battery icon) and the phone started itself (i didnt even touch the power button)....after it started itself i shut it down and left it to charge up....after full charge i powered the phone and it is working normally for now....
so,i dont know if this gonna help you at all, but try leaving your phone to use all the battery until it shuts down itself and recharge it, after full charge power it up and see if it gets back to normal
cheers

Battery Issues

Hi, so I have a year and a half old xperia z1 and am having some severe battery issues.
I use it to listen to music and read the news, there's about 75% left and suddenly it powers off as the battery has drained. This is after about an hour of use.
I've attached the battery screen to show the sudden death. Is the battery knackered? Anything I can do? Currently using resurrection remix but this has been happening on stock as well.
Thanks

I had the same problem, I applied unsuccessfully many possible solutions eventually replace the battery and the problem was solved.
Ok, thanks.
It wasn't even a gradual thing, just suddenly started happening.
Oh well
hi, i came here with the same problem. It says my battery is at 99%... at 75% it just plummets to 0 and powers off... When i connect the charger, it says 48% immediately! when it charges from 0%(rarely), in half an hour its at 100%. its out of sync.
I tried callibration and it doesnt work.. so changing the battery is the only option? After one and a half year and battery is dead? how about no sony?!?!

Exactly, that's how I happened one day with battery 100%, started taking video, the phone was turned off and the problems started with the battery, replace it was the only solution.

The same symptoms had my phone. The only solution was to change the battery. I tried to enforce the guarantee but as more than a year had not proceeded, the I replaced at a service center that was not sony.
That's pretty crappy for an 18 month old phone, really poor show

Battery drain on B386, is that normal?

Hi guys,
I updated my p9 to B386 months ago and after using it for a while, I found the battery drain real quick. Last night before I went to bed, I charged the phone to 100% battery, connected to wifi, bluetooth on, turned off the screen and fell asleep. When I woke up today after 8 hours (2am to 10am), the remaining battery is 64%.
I only have Google service, Inbox, Magisk, Nova Launcher, Transparent Weather and Wechat on, all other apps are either turned off or would close after screen lock. However it still uses 36% of battery.
Is it normal for P9 on Nougat? Will upgrade to B390 or B391 helpful?
Thanks.

Yes upgrade.
Try to reinstal B386 ... try other versions before to do that.
The weather app are consumpting alot, I gues ...
I also have this problem on mine. I can’t work out what’s causing the drain. B391 here. I have gsam monitoring the phone, it doesn’t look like it drops into doze.
Only common app with yours is nova.
I found that it's best to do a factory reset after each software upgrade.
You could also check battery in settings. Look for any apps with a long keep awake time (they won't necessarily be at the top of the list in percentage terms).
Sory guys.
how long charging huawei p9 start 0-100? 6 hours what is normal? emui 5 / nougat using original charge.
Pls help

I agree to this. I am in B391 and I don't findany battery draining issues. What i usually do is to wipe the cache every after update.

I never drained my battery to 0, but when I charge from 5-100%, it took me an hour and a half to fully charge it. I use Bavin Fast Charger.

charging battery issues

Hi guys
My Redmi has experiencing a bit odd behaviour every time I charge his battery
I always do full charging cycles, from 0 to 100%, and than use it till it full drains.
I usually charge it with the phone off
The last couple of times a strange thing happened: I fully charge it from 0, with the phone off, but when I turn the phone on the battery level shows something in the 70% level, the last time it was 77% only., This time I connected it back to the charger, and it went to 100%
I already installed a battery calibrator, but this keeps happening now
I use the original Xiaomi charger, or a Sony charger.
My Redmi is running the stock Marshmallow ROM - that's another funny thing, my phone simply has no updates to Noughat or ahead, I'm in Portugal those updates should have already arrived
So, any suggestion from you?
Regards
Antonio
Most probably your device has fake MIUI vendor ROM. I am guessing this because there's no update you got on your phone.
Redmi 4X has been updated already to MIUI 10 based on nougat 7.1.2.
I would recommend you to backup your all data on phone and clean flash latest stable update and restore back everything.

I'm not very worried about using latest ROM's on my phone, the charging issue is the the thing that annoys me the most, I'll think about updating my phone if and when the other problem gets a solution.
Does anybody has a say on this matter?
You should try to keep your battery level above 50%. Lithium batteries need charge to keep their effectiveness.
Only do 0-100% maybe once a month. When you do, charge the phone when off to 100%. Boot phone, if it is below 100% at startup charge more until it reaches 100%, then restart. Continue this until you get stable 100% or consistently close to it.
Battery calibration apps are trash, don't even bother with it.

Okay here is my thought on your situation.
I charge my phone upto or around 90% to 95% and recharge it when it falls down to around 20% to 25%, due to my daily routine and usage i do get around 20% battery remaining almost everyday and in very rae case it goes below 10% till now for me it never went shutdown due to battery gone full zero.
I have Redmi 1S and i charge like this and i still do get around 2.5 hours of screen on time on it which is great considering it is 4 years old device. and i am still using same original battery came in the box which now shows some ageing signs since it has little bulge on it and sometimes phone shuts downs it self and after turning on it looses 10% to 15% of its charge.
it is recommended to keep some battery % left in phone for good battery health.
over time battery does loose its capacity.
you should consider changing how you charge your phone dont let it charge fully or let it drain fully. when battery drained out completely it does takes some time to hold some charge and when you charge you phone fully the battery does goes back to 99% and goes again to 100% since it is already on charge, this keep happening until stop charging which affects battery capacity and the charge it can hold.
i think in you case this issue happening due to the how you charge your phone.

That doesn't make much sense to me since I charge it almost every time with the phone off, so once its 100% the charging process stops, and there's no way the battery should start draining because the phone is off - and even if it was on, it shouldn't loose 25% at once . If it was hardware problem, with the battery getting worn, I would never have the chance to drain it to zero slowly (it would shut down at 10% or so) or get an 100% charge level - and once I turn the phone on, he does go to 100% without any problem, so the battery seems to be ok
I do the same process with my 5 years old Sony Z1, once I charge it 100% I turn it off, and once I turn the phone on again, the battery charging level shows 100%, even If I do it a month after last charging. This old guy's battery is showing first signs of age, nowadays I get half the time I used to, but not that dramatic thing of not be able to do a phone call with 10% battery level.
So, same charger, same process, why my Xiaomi is behaving differently than he used to?
Why the charge level indicates 100% and once I turn the phone on, it shows 70 something %, and than charges without any hesitation to 100% ?

The I am not sure why is that happening suddenly using same process.
I know you've said not interested in flashing ROM just yet but maybe consider changing ROM to official Global/china stable MIUI 8 or latest MIUI 10.
Possible reason for this hardware/battery or software issue.
Maybe get device checked at official xiaomi service center or contact them on customer care support. They should help you the best.
I'm trying to do the update route, but I'm not very confident on my tech skills - and the downloads are failing all the time.
What's the best/easiest way to update my 4x?

Hi
Thanks for your reply, I ended up finding there's a MIUI tool available on playstore with ready updates for most phones, so I just downloaded the updated ROM directly to my phone and installed it.
It even kept all my apps and files, I did some backups in the process but never had to use them
Thank you all guys
have you tried
1) power off the phone and then after few seconds power on
2) charge using a different charger + different cable when your battery level drops below 50%, just to check if the phone still charges to 76-77% or if it charges to 100%.
3) if the above fails you need try factory reset or flash latest MIUI rom
