Mugen Battery case - One (M8) Accessories

Anyone get this yet? I bought the first battery case available and It was great while it lasted but couple months just quit working. Thinking of getting this but damn $100 is a lot for a case
http://mugen.co/mugen-power-3700mah-battery-case-for-htc-one-m8.html

I bit the bullet and ordered this case, hopefully it will be much better than the cheap generic case which was great for 2 months than turned out to be crap.
Mugen appears to have a good reputation

I picked a 4600 Mah one off eBay for 29$ works great. Get 1.5 charges out of it

Yeah I bought one from mobilefun it was the first battery case available that I know of. It worked great would charge the phone real fast and was for the most part reliable. Than came the day that it refused to work at all...

BTW, picking it up tomorrow, pretty fast considering it shipped from China. That might explain the $20 shipping fee. Which is perfect I'll have it before I go camping next Wednesday

I'm eagerly awaiting to hear how this case works out for you. Very interested in it.. Can you post some pictures when you get a chance?

Just got the Case, will take pictures later. I can tell you that the case adds a lot of bulk. Protection seems better than the generic "power jacket" from mobilefun.com. still feels vulnerable if it were to fall in it's back. It says that it's charging "AC" as opposed to "USB" I was listening to music(not streaming) while using GPS and the it still appeared to charged as opposed to flat lining or worst draining.

The volume and power rockers are accessible however the case makes it difficult to actually use them. Taking the phone out of the case is a real challenge

Thanks for the first impressions and pictures! I don't mind the bulk if it substantially extends the life, but that volume rocker cutout is worrying. Wish they had built buttons into the case. Have you used headphones with it? Curious how snug that opening is...

Hell, I get 1 day 10 hours a charge according to GSAM I'd think if you doubled your battery capacity you'd be getting a lot more battery life than I am. I by no means a power user but I am on my phone a lot during the day. My biggest issue now is whether to charge when I get home at night or try and make it through the next day. It's a good problem to have. Right now I'm at 49% and I took it off the charger yesterday morning. I love this phone.
That case looks cool if you need the extra power. I'll keep it in mind if I need a power case.

It's honestly not that bad, I wouldn't say it's a game changer. I can easily charge it to a full charge. Today I charged the phone at 20% first half was heavy use GPS and YouTube when I got home. Then I let the phone be and it charged it to 80% now if I wasn't using GPS or wasting away for an hour on YouTube it would be 100%. After a full charge the battery will be dead. If I were to use it heavily the whole time I suspect I would get 60-70% which isn't terrible considering otherwise the phone would be dead. I do recommend this but I feel $100 is too steep. Shipping is $20 but it took me 3 days to ship from Hong Kong so I can't complain about cost of shipping. If you share on FB you get a $4 discount

all after market batteries come from china, and probaly from the same manufacture, they just slap a sticker on there to make it cost more.
buy some other brand for 15 bucks rather than 100 and it work just as good.

It's my understanding that mugen has a better reputation than some no name brand case which is why I took the chance. Mugen makes extended battery and cases for many phones such as Nexus, Samsung note and "s",s and I think iPhone. In any case I hope I don't regret this purchase. So far the device feels more premium and durable than the previous.
Being made by the same manufacturer doesn't always mean same product or quality. Coke may for example might make " Joe's Cola" does not mean that "Joe's" is as good as coke.

Mugen advertised that you can sync with this case... I call BS I can not, it will pop up on my computer as HTC one m8 mtp device than it disappears and reappears meaning it's connecting and disconnecting. That's a real bummer.
Another plus is that when you charge the phone it will charge the case secondly. So if you charge the phone over night you will have a fully charged phone and case

doesnt mean the product is bad, just mean one malfunction unit, you can buy another one and still better off than spent $100

And if that one dies? Just buy another one? So far I am really happy with this case, hopefully I will not have buyers remorse.
I get this case is too much for you, but the case has already been bought and its my money so really no point in trying to dissuade me

And you know why the cheap ones malfunction so much? Because part of what you pay for in the expensive models is the quality control and adherence to specifications during the manufacturing. So yeah, it's possible they are built in the same factories but that doesn't mean they're build to the same standard.
I'm all for saving money where I can, but I wouldn't try to save a few dollars on something as dangerous as a battery, which can and do explode/overheat while in your pocket or hand. But I guess that's up to you and your priorities.

Official HD2 Extended Battery

While searching for a suitable spare battery for my hd2, I came across the official extended battery from HTC - hadn't seen any feedback from the forums so thought I'd post it here.
Search for it on the HTC accessory store (sorry, I can't post links as a newbie).
2300 mAh [good]
Has a stand [probably good]
Not due till 5th April [bad]
Costs 50 british pounds!!! [bad]
It sure is ugly [really bad]
I dunno if I'm gonna bother waiting - for that price, I can buy about 10 cheapy standard batteries on ebay.
Too expensive for what it is... why don't you simply buy 2 other extra batteries on ebay for 10 USD for one... much more better alternative no ?
well standerd is 1230mAH and i just bought a 1600mAH battery from ebay for £5.99... will see how it goes when it arrives but imo its not worth £50 for the official extended although it does include the back panel (pictures of it are in another thread)
I emailed HTC about the official battery as I need a decent extended battery with 2x capacity rather than a 1600mah or so (although I ordered one of them of ebay the other day!).
They said they still can't confirm when it'll be ready - most sites are expecting it in April just now.
There will be an HD3 before it arrives!!
i bought the extended 2680mah with back extended battery from my vodafone (germany) shop...normally it costs 69,90 euro - we will see if its worth
Photos! And we need a proper review!
dang, thats one expensive battery.

i found a quiet good alternative in the neofree 4400 mAh battery . when i need the extra power i put the usb cable to my hd2 and thats it. the neofree is the reason why i stoped buying extra batteries for my devices. no more nonfitting cover/cases and blown up pockets .

This is way bigger than i thought at first...Damn that is HUGE !! I am not as concerned about the form factor of the phone as i am of dropping the phone with that huge extra mass on it...broken screen for sure (i don.t expect to fit in any case - other than a tent )

Thats a shocking price for a battery, though i would certainly be interested in a kick stand battery cover for the standard battery.

That's an interesting alternative that I didn't even think of.
I don't care the size of the extra batterry. It's uglier, yes, but it's more funcional.
+1
I ordered it, waiting April for delivery.
I prefered an ugly back phone that to be constantly wired to something and get stressed by that!
I too find they've done a great job with the extended battery and cover.
Stop dreaming, an extended battery will always be bigger and thus will stick out, no way around that... there's no point in offering an extended battery with 20% more capacity that fits in the normal volume. If you want an extended battery it's to have at least twice the capacity...
But at least they keeped it quite stylish with a suitable metal cover and not some cheapo piece of plastic. The stand is awesome for video/GPS, which are the main reasons you'd use an extended battery for...
On no phone is an extended battery an accessory meant to be nice looking and/or for everyday use. You put it in when you expect you'll need a lot of juice, like travelling...
For everyday use I just keep a second standard battery in my bag, in case I need it, which normally doesn't happen.

Forgein battery imports... they aren't even TRYING to hide their scam anymore!

Sometimes I look at eBay for batteries, even though I know they're pretty much all imported garbage (and who knows how many peoples' water supplies are being tainted by industrial chemicals to produce this cheap ****). I am lured by high capacity and "USA FAST SHIP" slapped all over the product pictures. Regardless, it seems that recently these sellers have gotten a bit more ballsy and have decided to be honest about their products... kind of.
Here are the most recent batteries that have somehow floated to shore from our friends in the far east (along with screenshots):

And another! This one apparently is only good "up to" 1000mah...

Even they are borderline sketchy.
To be honest, I bought this exact battery the first week I got my phone on launch day (first link) except it was a package of 2 batteries and an external charger for $10 and free shipping. Best decision I made. They last about 12 hours on moderate use for me. I'd rather carry around an extra battery than shell out $50+ for seidio.. until you try it, don't automatically assume it's not worth the $3 because I use it every day.
I think you are all missing the point...
They don't specify an exact mAH number rating. They specify a range from 500 to as low as 1000 and as high as 1600.
The fact that three different vendors all sell the same battery with the same ad copy with the same pictures but wildly different power ratings positively screams "avoid at any cost" in your face.

I bought the same thing. I'm sure most people that visit Android blogs did as a few endorsed/advertised it.
Eh I got one battery and an external charger shipped for about $5. Sure it doesn't last as long as an OEM battery but hey, for the price of a fast food meal I got an extra battery that I can pop in to my phone in a crunch. I use the OEM battery mostly and then I have this one when I need it. I wouldn't recommend using it as a main battery though. Just my thoughts

What's so sketchy about Seidio?
They make quality products. I bought one of their slim extended batteries for the DInc - works like a charm. I can get through a full day with heavy usage and still have 20-30% life left over. Granted, I use SetCPU to adjust my CPU speeds - which greatly helps improve my battery life.
But I've bought many products from Seidio - cases, batteries, charges - none have ever failed me.
What was your bad experience with them?

Seidio's been good to me also, I'm running the 1750mah battery and I certainly can't complain. I also have the Innocase Rugged which offers great protection, albeit I use just the inner Innocase most of the time, it's nice to have the option.
I bought one of these, came with two batteries and a charger. can't beat the price. I just peeled the sticker off that surrounds the battery and replaced it with scotch tape (to make it thinner). it's barely thicker than the stock battery and last at least as long. cheap chinese. whatever, but $10 for two spares and a charger is an amazing bargain.
(can't post the link, but I got the htc my touch slide 1500mah batteries and charger from china. on ebay).
I bought a cheap chinese 3500mah battery on Ebay from a guy in hong kong, and it doubled my battery life for 10 bucks.

Seidio's batteries from those tests ranged from 79% to 82% of their rated capacity.
OEM batteries ranged from 96% to 100%.
The OEM EVO 4G 1500mAh battery fits in the Incredible and has a very, very, very high likelihood of last just as long, if not longer than, a Seidio 1750mAh.
That is what's sketchy about Seidio.
Honesty is best, but,,,,,
,,,but business is in it to make money. I have not bought any knock off batteries, but I do not understand why they can not be as good. We know that HTC probably is not in the battery manufacture business, they must have someone make them for them. Would it not stand to reason that if discovered the company that makes the good ones for HTC could sell them to us. Or think about this, maybe they get them from China too from the same places on the net but the Chineese test them all and sell the best testing ones to HTC, they would not throw away batteries they have made and sealed and have money tied up in so they put the crap ones on the net for sale,,,,,just a thought;-)
I bought one from Ebay and am quite happy with it.
It cost me $0.01 loll plus 10.99 shipping from hong kong I guess.
Ebay 1 penny battery
It works great.. Not exactally DOUBLE the life of the OEM battery but pretty darn close.
Here is a tip I read online and IT WORKS AMASINGLY for my DINC.
When you get up in the morning, unplug your phone from the charger and shut it down.. then when its OFF,, then plug the charger back in for 30-60 minutes or so while you take a shower or eat breakfast or whatever...
It makes my battery last MUCH MUCH LONGER..
Now I am wondering if there is some type of program that will automate this for me? I noticed though, when you leave the charger plugged in and shut the phone down,, it doesnt reset the charging cycle.. The Light stays green and doesnt charge.
Anyone know of an app that will shut my phone down at a predetermined time?

Powerskin

Has anyone tried this thing? Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on it.
I haven't but i have heard its great. Pretty much a 3k mAh battery. Most just use the stock battery and then use the power skin or vice versa since it pops in and out relatively easy
Wish I could afford that (Laid off). Slightly annoyed that the phone can't keep his charge for more than 12 hours with the use I make of it which I guess is low to med-high use.
Does it work on the Nexus S (not 4G)? I have the i9020a, to be more exact.

You should look into undervolting the phone and using another kernel, if you haven't already. You can get great battery life doing this.

I have this case, it's not 3k mah... its 1500... its nice but it makes the phone a little bulky and for that reason i only use it when im going out and know im going to have to charge it... it charges it when the phone is dying... or you can leave it on while the phone is in it and it will charge while the phone is dying
EDIT: official website so you can see the details better http://power-skin.com/battery-cases/ap1510i91/samsung-nexus-s-4g.html
I had one. Returned.
It is an extra 1500mah battery that is just used to recharge your phone. It worked pretty well if you are going out and need more juice. I feel like it wasn't double the battery power but more like an extra 75% or so of the original battery.
It makes the phone more than twice as thick and you cannot really tell the remaining battery percentage because it is two separate batteries, granted there is a few leds on the back of the case to estimate the powerskin's remaining power, it is just a pita.
If you are using the case to charge and want to plug in some headphones, you better hope that you have some with a very slim connector (like the ones made for iPhones) because in my experience regular plugs are too thick and you have to take the case off to use.
Also the USB on the case is only used for charging, you cannot sync or use any other USB functions unless you take the case off.
I cannot really recommend this case because I was using it only when I needed extra juice. If I wanted something to charge my phone in a pinch I would buy something like: http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Instant-Charger-Lithium-universal/dp/B002FU6KF2 (Not necessarily this one, but something like it.)
If you want something with double the battery capacity of the NS and dont mind a little extra bulk (not as much as the powerskin) I really recommend this http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Innoce...6C/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1322030905&sr=8-10
The other problem with using the Powerskin and the Seidio battery is NFC will not work when using them. The powerskin blocks the NFC antenna and the Seidio backplate does not have a NFC antenna.
Anyways, long reply but I hope I helped you make a decision. =)

I meant pretty much 3k when you include the stock battery. He power skin is only 1500 mAh by itself
decided to buy this cuz i wanted to protect the phone AND have an extended battery rather than carry around a phone and external battery pack. i hate the fact that there is only one iphone a year and a BAGILLION accessories for it, one which i envied for a long time is the extended battery case! The idea behind it is very simple since the micro usb connector is still kinda loose on some slack of cable. one of those "WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT" ideas... cant wait for it
Sent from my Internet TV Box using Tapatalk
I liked the powerskin and found that with it, I was able to achieve slightly under 100% increase in longevity. I assume the inefficiency is due to this acting as a charger rather than a true replacement battery. As you can see in my review, though, the thickness gain is quite noticeable.
Perhaps the most dramatic picture from my review:

OK so I've had it a hand full of days now and I've got to say it does a decent job. Like stated by others, the extra battery is roughly 75-80% of the OEM. Not bad, but maybe it gets a lil better as time rolls on. The bulk ain't bad after the first day, I kind of like that it is now a self defense unit (KO a mofo!)
Only gripe is that the skin is a little sticky when pulling out of the pocket, which in turn sometimes manages to slightly jiggle the micro USB connector and turns the battery pack on. Doesn't happen much, but is upsetting when I have 80%+ battery OEM and then I accidently turn the power skin on. This also means whenever u connect the micro usb to the phone the pack automatically turns on, so if i dont need it running i need to make sure i turn it off after applying the skin to the phone. Other than that this thing is exactly what I expected
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I just got mine yesterday and I love it, the thickness increase makes it feel like a more hardy phone and for me it makes it easier to use. Basically is a phone charger for people on the go, anyone who thought this would actually replace the battery should of read the details a bit more. My one worry is that the rubber that holds the phone to the battery will wear badly but only time will tell.

The picture looks good. Somethings we just forgot how thin the smart phones are... an extra skin is just as thick as an old phone.
well after 2 weeks the port broke for charging the case and phone. I sent it in for a refund, as the quality of the port is not very good. Shame because I loved this case.

Anyone have experience with these? Note 2 battery life is generally good.

Been looking around for note 2 batteries and found these. Seems to be rated at OEM capacity (3100mah)

Also there's a monster battery here:

what happened with the performance? was it just a gimmick? i was considering getting one of this monster because i enjoy playing HD mov on my note.
My galaxy note 1 seems good for me. Since I switch to note 2 was wondering if anyone have opinion on this

The performance of the battery just wasn't on par with the size.. And it crapped out within 2-3 months for me.. Maybe I just got a bad one

I bought two of these for my gs3 and they gave me longer life than the stock battery. I thought they were great. I have actually been looking for these for my note 2. I can't say if they will hold up as long but it's been a few months and now the wife has my gs3 and they are still going strong.
i hope they release mophie for the note 2, it would basically double the time.
You might check this out:

mugen battery giving us 100mAh more = 3% longer use of our SGN2...
If you think that is worth the 45 bucks
capacity of the qcell gn2 battery

QCell uses small cells, and shims to make up the space... or at least they used to, when selling the GS3 extended batteries. Maybe they ordered the wrong part and needed to break even... I don't care - selling an undersized battery with a regular rating is a scam type thing.
That probably explains his performance issue. Fortunately, I have bought a ton of assorted batteries, and am not afraid to open them up. I also use a battery analyzer (CBA-IV Pro) to test capacities. I can say, QCell's Note 2 standard battery is what it promises.
Right now, I've tested about 5 GN2 batteries, but they're all standard. I don't recommend thinking about mugen...
For the GS3, they charge $88 for a "4600mAh" battery that performs slightly worse (4250mAh) than a $13 Anker battery(4360mAh). They've been doing that type of stuff for a while. I remember a few years ago there was another guy on xda that had a CBA and performed reviews... one of the last things he ever did was get into it with Mugen... I don't think it's beyond suspicion that they killed him, so my time might be limited here...although I'm not making any accusations...
There are other good batteries for the GN2... I've tested the Anker and Hyperion. Both good, but the hyperion item from amazon has 2 batteries instead of anker's one.

I take it that there is no case that will fit any phones that have one of these monster batteries installed? And I assume one would loose NFC with such a case (not that I use NFC).

Seidio has a case on Amazon ASIN: B0097PFU1I (sorry, cant use links yet). I see someone from another forum I follow that really likes it.
I ordered a Onite extended battery and it arrived today. I noticed that the battery door didn't fit on there right, until I put a great deal of force to get it to snap on. I feel very confident with the quality of the door, as it DOES INCLUDE NFC, and doesn't feel like its going to fall out.
I finally got the QCell battery. I think this is the thread that prompted me to buy it... I see why QCell only shows the back of the cover in the amazon pictures - the back plates don't have NFC. Anyhow, the battery is in the charger and once it's charged I'll put it in the battery analyzer and see what's up.

The battery is decent. My battery analyzer said 6213mAh out of 6200mAh.

this pulled up a GS3 case
I had a QCell extended battery for my Galaxy S II. It did provide better battery life. It was listed as 3600mAh. I don't know if it really has as much juice as advertised, but for the price I'm ok with it if it was less as long as it gave me a noticeable boost (and it did).
Now that I have the Note II I gave it to my nephew for his S2. He's on his phone ALL DAY and kills his battery fast. He happy now the bettery last him much longer.
I'd give this one a try before I spend a mint on Mugen. Heck for the price of Mugen I could buy 4 of these.

Let us know how that Onite battery works for you, I like that you say it has NFC.
I have two Standard Samsung batteries, so I don't really need an extended battery. But who know if it give a substantial boost and has NFC I may consider getting one just in case I have a LONG trip or something. For the price it can't hurt.
I just ordered the Hyperion, anker, and EZOpower extended batteries to review. Whichever has NFC and the best price of those is probably going to be a good bet. They were for the S3.
NFC chip is on the battery cover not the battery.
Yeah... and not all of them have NFC. The QCell doesn't.
Do you guys have any further reviews for those batteries? Really considering on getting one and wanted to see what you would suggest.

Note 8 Battery cases

so far on EBAY and Amazon they are ALL the same 5500mah device, regardless of brand. Anyone seen anything else interesting?
I would love to find a thin case with 2000mah.
I've been frantically searching for one, too. They have like 8 identical cases on Amazon from 8 different Chinese sellers. It looks identical to the one I JUST BOUGHT for my GS8+. It really came in handy for that phone, now I'm starting all over again.
Battery on the Note 8 has been good, but I like the peace of mind of having a battery case I can slap on in emergencies. I'm hoping we get some options with Prime shipping soon.
Got this one from Amazon to use on the golf course and while traveling. The ONLY one I could find. Still waiting for it to be delivered.

It's the same design as all of them. Really massive and ugly IMHO. I want one with another 2k.
if i can find a battery case that can be charged wirelessly, and will charge the note 8 wirelessly as well, it would be a done deal!
I stay with what has never failed me since my note 2 days zerolemon has never failed me waiting in payday to order it
I'm just waiting til this thing hit $30 or less. No way I'm paying $40 for this because I know the price will drop quick like the S8+ battery cases.
I carry one of these monsters in my bag. I charged my s7 edge about 6 times in full from zero. Battery cases tend to not give much protection for the phone itself.

Worth a shot to see if it still works.

They ship from China so it's going to take forever to get it.

Mophie battery case has the ability to charge wireless. I have never used one but I have been keeping my eye in it. The are kinda expensive at $99 but don't look super bulk. The have a sign up page for the note 8 since it isn't available yet. http://www.mophie.com/innovation

There are power banks now that do wireless charging
Do they have one that works like a bigger battery? These just charge your battery.

I got this one, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H...ttery+pack&dpPl=1&dpID=41ZnLRFSzXL&ref=plSrch
,a few months ago from a different seller for $30. It works great.
I have used Zerolemon for all my old Note phones, looks like they have a 5500mah batery case for the Note 8, that is almost half of the 10,000 mah case I had for my Note 3. I guess I am passing for now.
Has anyone seen anything other than the one single ugly bulky design that is out there?

some people don't want to carry around multiple devices with a cable and rather just 1 device.
I've never been a fan of Mophie and that's probably because they rip people off with their pricing. Just go and look at their portable batteries and your jaw will drop. I think Anker, zerolemon, and Rav power are really killing the game. Might put Mophie out of business if they keep their prices so high. Their products are **** relative to the price they ask. $150 for a 13,000 mAh power bank... Like wtf!!
Well anyways, I've also been looking for something like 2500 mAh battery pack for the note 8. Had a S8 plus and got the zerolemon one and holy crap that was massive. Very hard to use and very uncomfortable in the hand. It was still a great case and nothing wrong with it but it sucks no one has something smaller than 5500. Honestly I think the reason is that that are all using the same supplier or the same battery and you can tell they are all the same battery cases. Exact same button design and everything lol. So I hope some company decides to come out with a smaller slimmer battery case. I feel like alot of people would buy!
