[Q] help with galaxy s 897 in download mode

my phone was stuck on the att world phone screen then i finally got it into the downloading mode. its been in downloading mode for about an hour now, does anyone know how long this should take or what else im suppose to do? im clueless about phones! please help! thank you nicole!
Read the stickies and get to know how these phones work. What's download mode, Odin, Heimdall, recovery (CWM, 2e, 3e), difference between boot loaders, etc. Lots you need to know about risk and procedure. I can't link as I don't have access to a computer.

nicole,
first what are you trying to do? as the below poster said you better read and understand the difference between various modes. understand what you are trying to achieve. the flashing is very serious task and to be taken seriously. there are risks involved and you better understand all. i have been reading for months before i did my first flash. after that it gets easy.

[Q] Installing CM for dummies

Hi guy,
I'm a little bit upset. Since 2-3 month, my phone was a little slow and with a lot of bug. Before changing it and because I had the idea since a long time, I want to try to custom my phone with Cyanogen.
I looked a lot about mobile but i never put my hands in, so I'm not very familiar with all vocabs and different concept. So I tried to find a simple tutorial to do it.
This morning I decide to try to do it and I begin with the CM tutorial: Install_CM_for_galaxysmtd
As soon as I begun my phone doesn't have Download Mode (with Home, sound down and power button) and I am stuck... I begun looking for some solution to get download mode (I saw an other method with command line but I saw that we could brick the phone...)
And there I found a lot of different forum but nothing simple and complete (I don't understand how we could lose download mode or root from "flashing"...)
So if somebody could help me step by step to customize my phone, I will be really greatfull. I don't plan to understand everything but if I could it will be a bonus.
Thanks in advance
Guillaume
check ur fone first n make sure if ur got i9000 or 9000b or M110S or anything else

Noob here - screwed up my T-Mobile One M9?

Hi XDA community,
I'm scared out of my mind. Tried rooting for the first time ever, but don't actually know what I'm doing. Using various guides I found in these forums, I:
1. Used HTCdev to unlock the bootloader
2. Used ADB to install TWRP 3.0.2-0
3. Used TWRP to install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76.zip
Once that finished, my phone tried booting up (the white HTC logo) but now it has the red development build text at the bottom.... and then it gets into an infinite boot loop.
I don't know how to fix my phone. Please someone here with guidance, please help.
I've got the same identical issue.
I was able to get out of the boot loop by holding volume up and power, and I got back to download mode. From there, since the SU update I tried to install boot looped me (I was following this tutorial), I jumped ahead and just installed cm13 as I was planning to.
This install went fine, but then I ran into the issue of the rom not recognizing my sim card. I've been researching this problem and I guess I need to update my baseband? I tried for hours but I do not know how to accomplish this, and couldn't figure it out for the life of me. This thread on the cyanongenmod forum seemed to be the closest thing to help I could find, but still it didn't help very much.
So at this point now I'm trying to back out and unroot my phone and get everything back to factory settings; it doesn't feel worth it anymore to me since I've just had trouble every step of the way. I've been trying to follow this post to get back to at least a usable factory rom. But I can't even get this one to install because I cannot access my phone through adb while it's in download mode. Furthermore the instructions are just confusing me because I'm not so versed in the nomenclature of these procedures.
Is there anyone that can help me get back to complete stock t-mobile sense? Or if not, help me get my cm13 rom to recognize my sim card so I can at least have my phone working in some capacity? I'd be tremendously grateful of either. I'm really in over my head here and quite scared I won't be able to figure this out.

BLU Vivo XL Help

Greetings earthlings!
Looking time!
Help please.
I put the Gionee on this badboy before reading about the disappearing sim problem because of no modem. I reverted back to stock BLU Marshmallow.
I CANNOT GET THIS THING TO TAKE TWRP AT ALL! NO MATTER WHAT I TRY!!! HELP PLEASE!!!
I tried SP Flash tool...NOTHING! Doesn't even get in twrp after flashing!!!
Have read some ppl using adb but its confusing about unlocking bootloader. In fact, I did unlock it the 1st time and got thrown into the boot loop. Funny thing is I got out of the loop, was able to throw twrp on, but it wouldn't flash any ROM!!! Got twrp off, but have not been successful to put it back on again.
1) how to flash custom recovery.
2) how to root?
3) any way to get Gionee to work? (Anyone found way to flash XL's modem so the sim is recognized?
I'm exhausted trying to figure this out!
Thanks in advance...
Wow! Lots of passersby but no reply...
Will keep checking back.
Holy crow!
It’s bad enough to talk to yourself, but to talk to yourself online? Wow! That’s a new low! LOL
Don’t know why this didn’t work the millions it times I tried it before. Tried it again tonight and have verified root!
