[Bluetooth] Does Bluetooth consume more after Kitkat's update? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i want to know if Bluetooth consume more battery since Kitkat's update
I heavily use my phone through Bluetooth and noticed it consumes more battery with Kitkat, around 15-20%
My battery life is even worse than 4.3 because of BT
After an hal of hour of listening music through BT (local music), Bluetooth and audio players reached about 10-15% in battery history.
That's huge.
I would appreciate any help or useful advice
Thanks

Bluetooth Headset

Has anyone used any bluetooth headsets yet. How's the battery life? Mines is terrible. I have the BTHS-300. The sound is good. Forward/Back and Answer button function great so far. But it kills the X1 Batter Life.
Have been using my Planctronic 665 set and the X1 battery drain is about 20% the whole day... but dont talk too much even though the bluetooth is always on

BLUETOOTH battery drain?

Has anyone noticed excessive battery drain from bluetooth after disconnecting a headset?
After disconnecting my headset (Motorola S9), I have to turn off my bluetooth, otherwise, my battery status will show Phone idle % = to the bluetooth % (Phone Idle = 28%, bluetooth = 27%) and my battery will go dead in just a few hours.
Yes. Noticed it yesterday after using my new car dock. I just need to remember to turn off bluetooth

I've been using bluetooth with my car stereo and haven't noticed a significant difference.
I used Bluetooth with my car handsfree and noticed it used a lot of battery too. :/
Have had to leave BT off for the most part.
Since day one leaving bluetooth on all the time has been showing a 25-30% battery usage
I've never had a phone that didn't die quickly when bluetooth is on but not paired.
It is akin to the phone searching for a signal in an area of no service. The radio draws more amps when it has no signal.
I agree there is additional drain when Bluetooth is enabled. What I am noticing is that if I reboot the phone, the drain from Bluetooth is fairly normal. After connecting/disconnecting a headset, the drain increases by 10 times. It is almost like the Bluetooth drivers get stuck in search mode.
I've noticed the same thing and have been turning it on and off as needed.
I don't think this is normal though - I left Bluetooth on 24/7 on my OG Droid for almost 2 years and don't think I ever saw it consume as much battery.

this. the radio shouldn't be consuming additional power to search for devices. BT power doesn't change between searching and pairing. it's not like trying to lock a cell signal. i left my wifi/BT on my D1/D2 everyday and never had the level of "drainage" that appears in the battery usage.
i've been running without them on for testing purposes and i'm not convinced there is a problem with them. right now i'm more convinced that there is a problem with the battery usage app, or at least the statistics engine.
There is certainly something here - but I am not sure is it related to the bluetooth or to the car dock. Before I got my car dock I used bluetooth speaker and didn't notice battery running down faster. Now - after I take the phone out of the car dock, even disabling the bluetooth doesn't help - battery starts draining about twice as fast. If I reboot the phone after use in car dock, things get back to normal. And I feel phone stays warmer in the lower area. I hate bugs like that!!

Excessive Mediaserver Battery Drain

I know that this is a common issue with all ICS ROMs, but I still think it is not getting the attention it deserves....
One of the main reasons I'm still using my Captivate is the fantastic sound provided by the onboard Wolfson DAC, and I listen to music a lot (all from my own library, no Pandora or Spotify). On all of my Froyo and GB ROMs, the battery logs attributed some drain to the 'Mediaserver' service, but it never got over 10%. Since I moved to ICS, and now JB, Mediaserver has been my largest battery consumer, by far. It nearly always exceeds Screen. I have often seen it in excess of 50%, and it will drain my battery in less than 6 hours if used constantly.
Does anyone know of a developer effort to fix this issue? If not, how do we go about bringing some attention to this problem?

[Q] Multimedia server and sony.sonyericsson.music?

Hey i having little issue about battery life.
those stuff drains alot of battery
sometimes 30% / 40%
how to get it lower?
well i listen musics often every day during hours
may it have consequences?

Bluetooth battery drain

Is anyone else getting severe battery drain when listening to music from their bluetooth headphones?
Without listening to music via bluetooth, I can get around 8-10 hours of SOT but once I begin listening to music via bluetooth, i can only get 4 hours.
The battery drain is intense and I don't think it's any other app causing the issue. The battery drains much, much faster on standby when listening to music.
I've searched around and keep seeing answers online about people saying that listening to music via bluetooth shouldn't have too much of an impact on their battery life. However, this ~50% battery decrease is worrying me.
Is anyone else facing this issue? Or does your battery drain at the same speed with and without listening to music via bluetooth?
Just today I noticed my device runs very hot and Bluetooth eats more juice than the screen. I've had the phone for almost two weeks and it's the first time this happens. I'm sure rebooting fixes it but obviously I shouldn't need to do that
No problems here. Could be the player you're using?
When connected once to a device, after disconnect, the Bluetooth logo show like the phone is still connected and drain battery. Simply cut Bluetooth and reactivate it.

I just use spotify... shouldn't be much of an issue right? spotify didn't drain my battery that much on previous phones, the only difference now is that I use bluetooth to listen with this new phone and headphones.
If its not much of a hassle, is it possible for you to tell me a bit more about how you use your bluetooth headphones? What do you do with your headphones on your phone, how long do you use your headphones with your phone and whats the battery drain like?
Thanks!
Don't have any issues using Deezer hardly makes any difference when using wired for battery usage
I listened to Spotify on Bluetooth headphones for a half hour walk to work and the battery stayed at 100%

Do you mind posting screenshots of the battery usage stats of your 8-10 hour SoT?
Thanks

haha its pretty hard to do on a normal day because I pretty much need to listen to music!
But when I'm not listening to music my usage is basically just Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Discord and Reddit lol
Try changing the bluetooth audio codec in developer settings, see if that has any effect on your experience. Hope you get it sorted

It's impossible to change bluetooth codec. It just defaults to aptx when connected to my bluetooth headphones and I can't change it.
I have the same, buetooth drains battery like a mofo, both with Spotify and Pocket Casts on already downloaded content.
