Slippery_Sloth_AOSP Q&A Plus Additional Notes
*
Q) Does my phone need to be unlocked?
A) Yes, with a custom recovery
*
Q) What does this do to my phone?
A) It will make it sneaky, sly and slippery smooth. Much like the wonderous Sloth.
*
Additional Notes and Thanks
All the features found in this Kernel can be controlled through the Slothy_AOSP.conf script found in /system/etc. All you need to is change the default integer's to whatever you like.
Everything in the script is labeled so its easy to read and easy to understand.
I hope you will all find this easy and user friendly.
Please refrain from using apps like trickster, If you must use trickster be sure to delete the 99slothy script from the init.d folder.

I would also like to take this space to say that this would not have been possible without many great kernel devs before me. So from me to you, thanks.

Im gonna work on OC/UV for CPU and GPU tomorrow. I have tried sooo many AOSP kernels that are supposed to have S2W functions, and they were not working 98% of the time, thats what got this project started in the first place. Hope you all like it....

Hey this rom is probably ome the best ones yet !! I'm having a few issues. One is with enabling art. When it reboots it just reboots without optimizing the apps. Second is the zip file to change the Lock screen color I flashed it and its still same color. And Third is the keyboard when it comes to gliding it doesn't speel any words but the first one I type

This is a kernel thread not a Rom thread, this kernel will work on any 4.4.4 based AOSP rom. You can voice these concerns to the developer of the rom in that thread.

Lol that's my bad commented on the wrong thread . but loving the s2w feature !!!

This is running great with latest Cm 11 nightly. Thanks for the effort.

V2 is up....go get some....

Yet another kernel for sprint. First I felt sprint has less developments but now its getting better and better.
Keep up the good work developer.
Gonna try it and see how awesome it is.
Thanks...

Yeah development has taken a big nose dive recently. Even I am about ready to move on to a different device. There's just nothing going on here anymore.

Oh why is that?
Its not even a month I bought a used M7. I thought HTC ONE has huge development but on reality its dull. Especially in sprint.
Before I had HTC Sensation for 2 years and I enjoyed the developments from great developers. Now its development has gone down and performance is also low for daily usage in regards to latest software. Thats the reason I upgraded.
M7 is excellent, powerful and I love it but I hope my choice wasn't wrong. I'm a huge fan of HTC paste many years and I wouldn't even look at other brands.

It's because most of the tech savvy users like GSM - not CDMA, because in CDMA you can't really switch carriers easily. Also from what I've heard, Sprint has terrible service across America so that probably contributes a part to why users don't use Sprint.

Hmm. but Sprint supports both if unlocked. May be they won't do such things, instead go for GSM networks and their contracts. On the other hand, M7 had hardware issues (i.e pink tint camera) so lot of them got rid of it and bought different devices. Also M7 is more then a year old device now.
Anyways, don't wanna go more off topic. Just requesting to the developers, please don't leave the old devices alone. We non-american cannot easily switch devices.
Thanks...

Savaged-Zen ROM
RC5 Test Renditions
http://savaged-zen.com
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. The crespo build of the Savaged-Zen ROM is currently under testing stages. EXPECT THINGS TO BE BUGGY! If you have issues, please submit issues to the link below.
2. For the TESTING STAGE, the ROM currently includes the latest kernel from CyanogenMOD. We are working on a Savaged-Zen kernel specifically for the crespo and crespo4g. Please be patient while the other developers on our team get those loose ends tied up
3. Once the crespo build is STABLE, this thread will be renamed and reworked to include hosting from our official mirrors. In the meantime, please feel free to contribute by testing or donating. Thank you!
4. I plan on including the Matr1x kernel by mathkid95 with the Savaged-Zen Crespo Series ROMs until we have a Savaged-Zen kernel specific for these devices.
Now that that's done, enjoy the show!
Thank you:
Anyone who has ever submitted code to AOSP development. Without you, projects like these would not be possible. (CyanogenMod, Evervolv, SalvageMod, etc)
Our dedicated Crespo testers:
For helping us set up the repo and countless other reasons: preludedrew
If I forgot anyone for ANY reason, please kindly PM me and I will correct as needed! No need for flame wars.
Savaged-Zen ROM is an AOSP project based on Google's AOSP Gingerbread (Android 2.3.4). We have incorporated some popular tweaks from other AOSP ROMs, as well as added a bunch of our own.
The main focus on this, it to make a lightweight. FAST ROM that is specifically designed to work perfectly with our Kernel. Right now, we are tweaking the ROM and adding our own custom features that you won't find anywhere else.

Whoaa new ROM.
Kee pup a good work guyz.
Inputs from me and a bit little story. I really need a Battery saver ROM. I'm really tired of charging my battery and wait for 4 hours to reach 97% ( max ). And empty my batre within 10 hours with regular use.
And also eating up my 30% battery while I'm sleeping for 8 hours.
And also will need BLN and Vodoo support kernel as default.
Thanks before, I know I'm asking too much without contributing and donating to this project.
But I'm considering to make donation , if u can make incredble rom and battery saver.
Thx before.

I can't speak for the nexus as I do not own one, but battery life on the Evo is really good with our ROM.
I am going to switch kernels from the CM kernel to the Matr1x kernel which includes support for what you mentioned.
The ROM is pretty buggy right now, but that will be worked on as the week progresses. The 4G progressed very quickly into a stable ROM.

Whether or not an overclocked device is stable doesn't depend on a random number (like 807) but rather on the hardware – in our case the build quality of the CPU – itself. I for example can't even overclock to 7xx without having my device crash after a few seconds (a minute at best).

Well I've read a lot of ppl getting random reboots after 800 MHz mate so pls is that wrong giving a suggestion???? As l was ust trying that overclocking can cause stability issues, not rom.
And I have been using cm7 in my legend in using launcher pro and I think using go launcher is a tad smoother and more responsive is that wrong giving an opinion of what I feel about the Real Performance ? Not some voodoo scores from quadrant
Seriously mate, I'm just trying to give back to the legend community here so why choose to down talk me straight away?

So this is how it works
When u open tb, go to batch and press backup apps
Then when u have a new rom just install tb again and press batch and restore user apps with data
Good luck

The msm7k in our device was designed and manufactured to run at 600MHz. As far as my experience goes suggesting to overclock isn't really a good thing to do, because, as I said, whether your device is capable of running at a certain speed is dependent on the chipset itself.
I got various reports of users telling me that their device reboots as soon as they open a complex website and they never mentioned they overclocked it. Imagine how much fun debugging was (I literally scratched my head over this issue) until I finally found out it was their fault, not a bug in the JS engine.

Well, the perceived speed of the launcher doesn't make the device faster at all. Your games won't run smoother because you install a different launcher.
You claim that the overall device speed is faster (at least that's how I understood it) and I was simply curious on what facts you might base your statement.
You know, I'm always open to improvements in CM. Apparently this one won't make it in.

Now what the heck is NPR and WPR??
NPR Stands for No Power Restriction, this build has a custom Hotplug Algorithm which is Enabled by default, and gives you flexibility between the balance of Power Savings and Performance in mind. This build is aimed at users who are enthusiast and who wants to take charge of everything the phone does, Hotplug parameters are supplied so that it can give you the best options to tweak with your preferred settings.
WPR on the other hand stands for With Power Restriction, this build has stability in mind, this is driven by the default Qualcomm Hotplug Binary(mpdecision) and this does not have CPU Overclocking features as opposed to NPR builds having that feature, the kernel is intended for users who do not have time and knowledge to fiddle with settings that could balance Power Savings with Performance. Although this is using mpdecision binary for Hotplug, this build is still far better than stock in terms of Performance and Power Savings.
All Sprint builds are up!!
4.4.3 and 4.4.2 as well..please check main thread for how-to's and also check the discussions there if you have any issues and questions..
TIA!!

Would check this out if I wasn't beta testing a kernel atm. Looking at feedback on the international thread, seems excellent
Will download and test asap. Thank you for the support sir!
I've used the reset kernel (4.4.3) and flashed the Synapse (4.4.3) on top of ViperRom 7.0 (Sprint)..
Everything looking good, will report on battery life as it happens!
can you add 2-way record into your kernel pls?

Is dt2w a battery drain? I'm aware the OP talks about how swipe to wake/sleep can cause battery life issues, curious about the double tapping...
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I only use dt2w, if it is battery draining it's very minor.
Is it necessary to download synapse after flashing this kernel 4.4.3.....what if i will leave it as it is does it impact battery life or do we have to make changes in synaps for good battery life

I believe you need synapse to just customize the kernel.

Correct, the app just allows you to customize the kernel (wake features, governors, CPU frequencies, etc..)
I am getting great battery life thus far!
...I'm digging this kernel over most others...

why dont' you guys join the party on the main thread!!
Running kernel is smooth and fast fixed my charging issues somewhat on viperom 7.0.0, only thing wrong so far is USB is connected with out cable and says it's connected even after reboot and flash, trying the reset kernel then going to reflash kernel

You guys should give this kernel a run...pretty smooth and great battery life over here

I am still new to all of this and learning slowly by day, I promise to try my best and give back as much as I can for everyone still around until I get a new device.
I ended up cracking my LCD and Touchscreen and I want to thank these generous enough users that donated to pay for my new part to keep developing for the S6.. You guys are prime examples of how XDA keeps giving back no matter what, Thank you guys for helping getting a new replacement screen.

if you donate please send me a pm to let me know as it's a business paypal and do not have emails notifications 24/7 so I can personally thank you!

Let me be 1st....
It's great to see someone taking the initiative to learn and develop kernels for both variants.
I had no doubt that it would be you to take over the kernel development here. I'm pleased that my kernel guide helped you in achieving success.
This is just the beginning......
Welcome
Absolutely agree with The Sickness!
It is so great to see people who actually want to learn, learn!
This is NEVER an easy task, especially with our day to day lives and real world duties always getting in the way, but for a few truly dedicated that do this for their own knowledge and power so that can DO things and not be told what they can do or have their phones do, they take the many, many, many ok one more, many hours of reading to finally get a chance to try something on their own and to hopefully with great success!
Then to bring that new found knowledge from the countless hours and share with the rest of us here!
That is why just a little appreciation goes a long way.
For even a simple rom mod, by which a Kernel build is not even in the same category, but a simple mod which for myself or the sickness may now only take me a few minutes to complete, doesn't take in to account the knowledge we gained from the days, months and even years to gain.
So let's welcome our newest Android Developer @Maqical with the help of the recently retired (we'll see lol, but best of luck with your future endeavors!) and mentor @The Sickness who has brought to us all countless roms, mods, guides, support and now kernels!
So for anyone wondering what's the point of hitting the thanks button or simply giving a little feedback when we ask, this is what keeps us going because we don't have to share, we d9nt have to add the mod or update that project or make it compatible for your device, it already works fine in our phones and I don't use that mod or why that what?
We do it because we are simply giving back to the community that gave us so much!
So hit the thanks, mention our projects and share with others what we have shared to you for free!
Thanks.
I will probably be editing this 9nce I read it later when I'm not sleep posting. Lol
Congrats and good luck fill8ng those boots! You know I love ya Chris and miss your presence here! What's this about N7?...

Lets just say that I'm proud......Kernel building isnt for everyone. If it was we would have as many kernels as we do roms.
Note 7........I'll leave a no comment on that lol.
Just wanna drop in to wish you luck and say Congrats. As i said before...it would be you to fill them shoes. Always around if you need help, you know where i be.

Heres what Im going to do.. tomorrow ill rewrite my op.. make it neater, maybe try and find a nice graphic design (feel free to make me one)
I'm going to split these up into two, yes two
FrostFang Series will be barebone stock kernel with min but necessary features added
Firestorm Series will be full out highly custom kernel with everything you could ask for.. literally ask for more I'll add it
I'll leave the links up for now, but it's 4:45am.. going to get some rest
Tomorrow ill rebuild the stock series and rename it Frostfang and get it all posted together, if anyone wants anything added or would like to see anything this is the time before I get back to work in a few hours
Hope everyone enjoys and thanks for the kind words everyone so far
Well Damn congrats I know you going to make some Magic on this kernel!

@Maqical I see you finally did it good job and good luck keep up the good work :good: glad to see everything is going well so far
@Maqical thanks for keeping on the development of the custom kernels for both variants.
@magical thanks for this kernel. I flashed the CustomV1 flat first issue I had was deep sleep. I just used the deep sleep flashable zip and and cleared Google service framework data cache it took care of the issue. 2nd and last issue was very odd after flashing the kernel it wouldnt auto connect me back to my wifi network after checking the wifi setting showed an authentication error after i re updated the password has worked fine ever since and it's Very very stable. thank you for the additional support unfortunately I don't have computer or laptop to do developemnt. Otherwise this s6 would have more a few more ports and kernels

[KERNEL] [OOS] Omega kernel [June 11, 2020]

Omega kernel development has now been discontinued for the OnePlus 6T.
Introduction
Hello everyone, this is my personal kernel for the OnePlus 6T, using it as my current daily driver.
My philosophy on the kernel is pretty simple, intended to replace the stock kernel, but with a lot of under-the-hood tweaks.
Hopefully you will all enjoy!
Important thread information!
I refuse to acknowledge/respond to bug reports that do not include clear steps to reproduce, a logcat, and a console ramoops (if random rebooting) or a dmesg (any other issues). Follow this guide to do this.
Keep things civil, no flaming in the forums!
Features
Up to date with OxygenOS 10 source
Compiled with Google's Clang 11 branch for maximum stability, with all warnings and errors fixed
Many tweaks under the hood for smoother UX, lower battery drain, etc.
Westwood as the default congestion algorithm
Hides bootloader unlock from SafetyNet
Available to flash with AnyKernel3
Latest kernel release post
LINK

Omega GitHub: https://github.com/kristofpetho/kernel_oneplus_sdm845
Omega originally sourced from: OnePlusOSS
Thanks where it's due
Nathan Chance for his guidance and patience with general kernel dev questions
Kerneltoast for his guidance
zx2c4 (for WireGuard)
osm0sis (for AnyKernel3)
Features that will not be added to future builds (so don't bother asking):
New, non-stock I/O schedulers
Wakelock blocker (they negatively impact battery life anyways)
OC options
Anything that's not standard (stock) functionality - i.e. DT2W, etc.
Thanks for sharing your work!
I will just leave this here...

First of all, judging the battery performance just from 100-91% and being happy is similar to premature ejaculation.Because drain from 100-90s is never accurate.
Secondly, those stats are nothing worth bragging about since most other kernels(including stock) will give better battery.
Just flashed thanks for the kernel ?

Thanks for the honest feedback, though I don't appreciate the tone.
Though you are right in that I probably should have given a bit more context - on stock I usually got about 15-16% drain on similar conditions, as I have 3 Exchange accounts constantly syncing, a Gmail account, as well as Whatsapp.

Ok so how much did you pay him to develop this kernel? If you can't appreciate something given to you for free, then at least keep that dirty hole on your face to yourself and don't open it in public forums with that arrogant tone. Kids like you is the reason why we don't see much developers being active here.

You don't have to respond to such ignorant entitled kids. You're doing a wonderful job. I flashed your kernel and honestly surprised with the battery life too.
I mainly believe in having pure performance over much features so this kernel perfectly fits my needs. Keep up the good work!

Sadly we're in XDA were users these days won't respect the hard work of developers. I suggest OP to start a telegram group and put up a link here to stay in touch with actual interested users, like myself. Cheers.

lmao. the fail and ignorance in this comment is so staggering that I can't even think of a place to start. I am absolutely sure that you cannot, have not, and will not contribute anything to this community, outside of comments like this. its kids like you that are causing devs to leave xda entirely, for telegram, or wherever else. this once was a place where nonsense comments like this were mostly infrequent, and dealt with accordingly. now, sadly, this is what xda has become.
