I've downloaded several dialer and reset the defaults in the app setting.. but when i dial a number, only the phone,pinger,skype are my option not the custom dialer that i've install like rocketdial,dialapp, etc... not of them are showing...
Is there a way to make any custom dialer be my default dialer?
Bump? Nobody? I'm rooted, anyway to do something about this?
If you just remove the default dialer you'll lose cell connection altogether. Don't do it.
Also, it had only been an hour since you'd posted, expect the most replies at night and in the mid afternoon

Did you do a nandroid backup before you deleted? then just restore.

nope.. haven't restored anything... just deleted... i do have a back with them installed though.... but haven't restored anything

when i go to usage statistics and sort by usage, it has sense at the top.... sense isn't letting my phone sleep?!?!?!?
You aren't by chance using a visual voicemail app from the market are you?
i was using google voice, but deleted it thinking that could be it... switch to stock vvm and the same issue
Did you make sure to adjust how often e-mail, google voice etc check for updates?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but is there an app to replace the in-call app? I think it's rather ugly and it's the last thing I need to replace to get my phone looking perfect.

you mean the app you make calls with?
- Check out Dialer One .. my favorit!
highly customizeable and you can change colours and themes as you wish ..
i think there is also an app called " go dialer " not sure tho ..

I already use GO Dialer, but when I hit call it ask to "dial out" and goes to the default android (in-call?) app. Thanks for the suggestion though

Installing apk is all I did to get it working.
Maybe bad apk? Wipe broken google dialer and install apk below.
If it doesn't work, can you explain what happens when you try to launch?

Dialer apk was ok, it installed ok but FCs for some actions on contacts...

What actions, specifically? Just opening up contact list? Viewing a specific contact?
Did you disable apps like the default dialer?

Do i have to disable anything? I read elsewhere I need to keep Sony's dialer and contacts apps running, not disabled...

I was making sure you didn't disable them. Sorry for the confusion...
Seems odd it FCs...doesn't happen to me. I'm assuming all your contacts causes it to FC? If there are certain ones that don't FC, check the contact (one that causes to crash google)with stock app and see if somethings off. You don't see something like the one you see in the screenshot?

every time i click on a contact, either in the contact list or in the recent calls I get an Fc
FC also if I dial a number from the dialpad
I am trying to make it work on my z1 compact.
first it was fc-ing on dialing any number or contact. it also closes when i hit the recent calls tab.
I copied manually the app to system/priv-app, and ser permission rw-r-r. now i can dial, i can receive phone calls, but i cannot access recent calls.
i will try removing stock sony dialer.
P.S. removing stock dialer from priv-app turns into no signal on the phone.
i moved it back.
On startup, i get an fc from Google dialer, but afterwards it is working ok, minus the recent calls list.
Any ideas?
P.S.2 i disabled it. The in call menu is still the main phone app - sony. So i gave up on it.
Here is the MMS APK that has material design, yes it has quick reply.
I have pulled this APK from Euphoria ROM for my own use, but I thought some of you may wish to use it.

Yea but this is XDA. It's way to easy to install or update an app via the Play Store. XDA-style, we unlock the bootloader, install the new ROM, rip the apk of the app, then host it on a filesharing service. :highfive:

This is not the same app, the one you linked is the Google Messenger application, what I have posted is the AOSP MMS APK. This is the MMS apk you all are familiar with from CyanogenMod, but with a material design like the new Google Messenger app.
Was this actually updated with material on aosp or did someone customize it.

I'm on sprint also. No such issues. Try reinstalling the app

Is this a 5.0 AOSP MMS apk or is it at 4.4 hack??
Shows a lot of promise, but for now dark theme doesn't work for me and MMS shows as a slideshow only

I think you have to modify the apn to make it work. I know on custom roms sprint is having issues.

Its not going to work on a non rooted phone. The apk must be moved to /system/app

hmm. well this one works on nonrooted phone. just the apn issue. once i pull out my sim card, the apn setting comes back, but disappears when the sim card is inserted.
I need to figure something out. The stock messenger sucks badly.

Try the following:
Set hangouts as default messaging app -> open hangouts settings -> change MMS apn to something other than what is selected by default -> change default messaging app back to original.

Hi, I have a strange problem with my p10.
When I call somebody, the dialer on the notification bar continuously disappears and appears, preventing me from accessing the call interface and hunging up the call, and when i get called the phone rings but i cant answer because the interface doesn't even appear. I already tried to use another dialer app, but the problem remains.

Same problem here since yesterday, dialer go crazy, a can't answer call, if i make call i can't hang up.
I also install new dialer as temporary solutions. What is going on is someone know solution how to fix this??
I got the same problem now aswell, it has to do with some kinda of update, and the phone goes crazy hot while in call...
you should be correct. it goes also very hot in call.
as of now I can't find a solution.
I am working on saving everything I can before a reset...
just to let you know that a factory reset resoled this on my side.
After that, everything goes back to normal.

I install True Phone Dialer & contact. But after i make new app default i got same problem, so then i disable all notification in old app and now it is working ok
