I have recently rooted my note III. I love the functionality but hate the amount of time it now takes to charge. It is taking more than eight hours to get a full charge. I figured out how to manage the charge to avoid multiple charge times within a day. So plainly stated. How do I get a shorter charge time? I would like to wake up with a full charge!
2 to 3 hrs for mine to go from 10% to 100%.
Are you sure your using the supplied power supply? It has 2amp output.
Read the output stats to your charger please!

I am using the Note 3 charger. usb 3.0 cable and the OEM samsung charger. I am using the DK ROM as well

Then unfortunately u have a substantial problem my friend.
The supplied 2a charger charges at a rate of 2000mah (milliamps per hour).
The N3 battery's capacity is 3200mah.
If u drain 3000mah leaving only 200, it should only take 1 1/2 hours to reload 3000mah
(these are not "exact" numbers, but pretty close).
If it's taking you 8 hours to put 3000 mah into ur N3 batt, you have a problem with something -
8 hrs charge time should supply 16,000 mah (over 5 times the amount needed)
What do your battery stats say?
Does your device stay charged like it used to? Is it possible you set something up to do work while only plugged in and charging?
Tried another 2 amp charger?
Tried another wire?
What programs did you grant root to?
Have you ran a malware scan?
There are a lot of variables here to examine.

Thank you all for the advice. I looked into the battery stats and everything seemed normal.
The battery was performing almost as efficient as with the stock ROM. I wouldn't expect exact performance from a custom ROM OOBE from prior experience. I was not perfectly happy with the DK ROM that i flashed and suspected that the ROM may be the issue. I decided to try the Alliance ROM.
POST Alliance ROM: Battery is charging like normal again. Performance is pretty standard. Problem resolved.
Thanks to everyone for the support.
P.S. Genjo Enterprises Apps are pretty stellar. i live in a rural area with limited data coverage and the internet booster app makes a huge difference!
My note 3 is rooted running the dynamicKat rom and it never takes me more than 2hours at max to fully charge my battery.

How long does it usually take u guys to recharge ur note from dead or almost?
It took mine. Over 8 hours to charge from 12%.
Also if keep my note on charge but im usimg it for browsing or whatever, my note still dischares.
Is this normal for the note as my htc Desire didnt diacharge while using it while connected to the charger.

Hmmm I've never really timed it but its gotta be around 4hrs for a full charge.
I have been playing Stardom even when charging and it gains battery.
That doesn't sound normal at all.
If u r charging from USB port den its possible. Charging from ac will be a different story

Charging by USB is at around 12% per hour, so it does take 8 hours.
Charging by a/c is upwards of 35%/hr.
Some of the apps usage would demand battery usage at 20-25% per hour, so if your battery usage is more than your charging rate then you would be losing battery which is what might have happened when you are using USB charging etc.
If your stats are for a/c charging, then I suspect the charger.

Depends on what you are using for, but it still doesn't sound right.
Mine charges from 5% to full in about 3 hours when it's just sitting
on the table and I'm just using it for a phone call every now and then.
charging shouldn't take more than 4 hours when done from an AC outlet. just check if you have original batteries and charger. if not, take it to the shop and get it replaced immediately. 8 hours is just too much.

Im using the stock charger.
Rocket rom / Abyss 4.2 kernel
And battery life was around 20% after around 14 hours then i put it on charge and used it for about an hour but it discharged to 12%.
I am using the device heavily at the moment as ive had it only a few day.

When you are using it heavily while charging it might be normal,
try leaving it alone while charging for one cycle, that'll give you
an indication.
If it's still substantially higher than 3 to 4 hours under these circumstances
you've got a problem, either battery or charger have an issue, or there's an
app sucking battery like hell.
as said, 3-4 hours is normal. Do you have a battery drain issue when in normal use? if yes, then u can use betterbatterystats to check which process is using the juice.
Also, its advisable (in the first cycle after flashing a rom) to charge the phone with switched off. After full charge, take out the battery, wait for 1 min , reinsert & restart. This will help to reset the battery & start afresh.
From 8% to 100% with the charger it took me less than 3 hours.
I only charge by USB on my PC and its never taken close to 8 hrs for a full charge..
The only time charging has taken a very long time for me is when I ran a ICS ROM.
So i did a charge with my usb cable and it tool half the time. Maybw theres a problemwith my ac charger.

use a different charger, i put it down to a **** charger from samsung as mine did the same, woudl discharge even tho was supposedly plugged in and charged

With higher amp, battery would wear out faster than normal.
Best way to charge faster is to never let battery drop down below 30% - 40%.
This would also extend battery life.
Higher ampere charger will force and stretch your battery. It will work but shorten battery lifetime. You don't mind buying spare battery, right?

Yes I don't care.. Cause sometimes I get less duration to charge my phone, so I don't care for battery lifetime but I do care the charge holding time/day..

This may or may not be related to op's question, but I've been wondering, does the "Enable USB Fastcharge" option available in some of the AOKP-based roms actually work?
The fastest way to make charging quick is to have a fully charged spare battery with you. Then the Note is charged in 20 seconds.

id be very interested in this too as my old htc had a 1.5A charger and a 1250mah battery, the note has a 2500mah battery and only a 1A charger
The note is most likely limited to a maximum charge rate of 800-900ma as the stock chargers only 1000ma
I have a 2100ma usb charger on the way, and with "battery monitor widget pro", it should give me some idea of the maximum charge rate.

Simply not a good idea.
The microUSB contacts are rated at 1A max, so any modification to the charge controller to allow charging currents greater than the contact ratings can result in a damaged connector and then your Note will become largely useless.
I understand everyone wants to play and muck about with their Note, but this falls into the category of "A real bad idea" so be warned.

According to batteryuniversity.com , lin-on/poly battery`s should be charged at between 0.5 and 1C , the Note has a 2.4amp battery , so you could charge it with a 2.4amp, though as i have already mentioned the note is most likely limited to between 800-900mah charge rate.
The good thing about having a powerful charger, is that it will barely get warm, and the components inside will give a much cleaner output, than a low power one, signs of a struggling power supply can be, getting very hot, flickering on the phone that`s being charged`s screen as the power/voltage is fluctuating, also a high pitched noise.

and how long does it take you to charge full from 1%?
When I use 1A charger from HTC it takes me +- 5 hours to full....
With charger from Ipad it takes 1,5 hour
So maybe my battery is dead already???
Hi guys,
Just wondering whether anyone else has bought this for there note 2?.
My arrived today, £9 99 from phoneboy.co.uk and not a good start! One of the clips on the new back casing had snapped off, so on the right hand top side the case doesnt sit flush with the phone, but no deal I can live with that, just cant be bothered returning it. Lol.
So I changed my phone up to 100% and started the new 6800mah battery first cycle, ive gotta say its lasting the same amount of time as the original samsung battery that comes with the phone. But I'm guessing I need to charge the battery a few good times first before I see any difference in its life. And I just hope there will be!??

Put on charge at 14% due to going to bed. Mainly browsering Internet, listening to music, a few youtube videos. Browsing google play store. Played a few games.
Not really any difference from samsungs offical battery considering its double in power. Hoping thst will change though after a few cycles

If u do not charge it in external charger u will never see a difference. Phone stops charging ANY battery when it gets to a set voltage. Good luck.

I know for a fact they stop charging when the phone "thinks" it has reached capacity. So buy a 1000000 mah battery and charge it in the phone and see no difference.

take the extended life battery, and when first putting in phone, charge for 12 hrs on AC. then discharge down to critical (5%) and charge back up to 100% using minimum 8-10 hr cycles each charge up for first 4 cycles or so. phone will build battery stats and you should see badass life right away.

I purchased an Onite extended battery here and it should be coming in friday. I posted some results of my standard size Onite battery in another thread and had some pleasing results, even though it's still a fresh battery. The 350ma (+-50ma) slow charger that came with my 2 Onite batteries takes about 10 hours to charge one of the batteries (assuming the 3500mah is true), then this means the 6500 mah extended battery will take about 18.5 hours to fully charge through that .35A charger. I don't mind the normal batteries taking long to charge, as it charges a littler longer than I sleep and the slower the better.
I'm using a newly bought battery and original charger still my phone take 4 hours to charge full I'm using pa rom even on stock it take 4 hours how to fix it?????

There's no official fast charge ROM support available for Galaxy Note.
You can increase the charge speed my optimizing your battery performance. Most Samsung phones take 3-4 hrs for charging depending on the phone state.
Make sure you clear all apps before keeping your phone for charging as any running app can eat up the battery. Look up for any suspicious apps which may be eating up battery.
Use CPU spy to make sure that your phone is going imto deep sleep while charging, if not there's a malicious app which is keeping up the phone awake or there's problem with the ROM you're using.
Also check that your phone is not getting heat up while charging, as it could mean a great power loss which could highly affect the charge time.
If nothing works try changing ROM.
Or at the last case if you are a regular ROM chamger then try to clear up battery stats through some app available from play store which requires root.
One more issue which I once encountered was with my charger cable being faulty( although no signs of physical damage) and I changed it with a locally bought cheap cable and miraculously my phone stopped heating and charged faster.
The more you care for your device, the better it gets.

I checked my 2 Notes, max current it draws is limited by the charging circuit. Seems no kernel can change that value in the Note.
It charges max at 1 Amp, no matter if you attach it to a charger that can deliver like maybe 1000 Amps, the max current is 1 Amp.
That 1 Amp is also until it reaches about 90% ... since Li-Ion is very picky and actually dangerous when overcharging they slow it down.
It's a statement that I hear often in the wrong context : I bought a new battery and it takes very long to charge. Actually that is a sign that the battery has a big capacity. You can only take what you give.

Personally I leave fast charge off unless I need to use it. I charge my phone at night while sleeping, so I don't care how long it takes to charge. I don't know for certain, but as I understand it fast charging in general is detrimental to the life of the battery over all, due to higher heat.

This is purely anecdotal but my S6 battery definitely does not last as long as it did when new, and my usage habits have not changed. I no longer quick charge it unless I really need to. I don't quickcharge my Note 4 either. In fact, I never plug my Note 4 into the wall -- I just rotate 3 batteries.
I leave the fast charging mode checked but i use a regular 2.0amp samsung charger on it and have seen no issues with degrading battery life. The Adaptive Fast Charger (AFC) i use only if I'm out all day (work 12 hour days 2-3 days a week) and i want to top it off. So i only use the AFC a couple times a week. I still get teh same battery life i did when i first got the phone.

Same here.
Adaptive fast charging isn't good for the battery when done in excess, but cells are relatively "cheap" and can be easily replaced (at the same intervals that one would change the internal battery for a normal phone).
Use mine all the time. I never keep a phone long enough to worry about a bad battery. Even if I did, with the removable battery it's no big deal.

I user fast charge all the time. I haven't noticed any battery degradation yet. That being said, if it does start to degrade I can buy a new battery for cheap. I have had this phone since November of 2014.
