[Q] Motorola US website version - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Ive been trying to figure this out.
When I call motorola, they say that the version being sold is single sim, or they say they dont know (depends on who picks up).
But most of the reviews say that it is dual sim.
Anyone know?

Well, I didn't even know that already exists a single chip version of the New Moto G, make sure you're talking about 2014 edition when you call them.

[Q] Moto X Developer Edition - Small CDMA Carrier

I am not certain if this is the correct forum for this but I'm going to throw it out there. I live in an area where "officially" the best carrier is a small local carrier. They recently partnered with Verizon to roll out LTE. I'd really love to get a Moto X Developer Edition, however I can't seen to find good information as to whether I would be able to simply plop in my local carriers SIM card into the phone and have it work.
I realize the APNs would need to be set, and ironically looking at the S4 I got from them, all the APNs appear to be "native" Verizon ones. So I guess my question is, does the carrier need to do anything else to activate the phone, or as long as my SIM is in the phone and working will the phone function? Thanks in advance for any information.

I can't answer your question the way you would like it answered - but I can give you a glimmer of hope. I know when I was on the Note2 guys with VZW models could just pop in an AT&T sim and change apn"s and were good to go.
Hopefully someone with a little more experience will join in...

[Q] Moto X Swap SIM with iPhone 5 Business Line

Hi all,
New to the forum although you have been a great source of information for me many times. I ordered a Moto X for Verizon because I am a google person and I want an Android phone again. Currently I use my work phone (iPhone 5) along with Google Voice for personal use. This works pretty well since its free
Anyway I am hoping the Moto X will work without issues but I am not sure because of a few things:
1) Can I take the nano-SIM and pop it into a Moto X without any issues?
2) Will the fact that the iPhone 5 nano SIM is not NFC be an issue? Or will the the fact that the SIM is connected to a work line be an issue? The
The people at the Verizon were/are useless and didn't want to let me try it. I don't have a Verizon android phone that requires a SIM to try this on. Most friends have an iPhone or dont use Verizon. I am hoping it will all work but I dont want to open the Moto X if I don't have to so I can at least recoup my costs.
Would really appreciate some guidance!!

Did you ever figure this out?
I'm also looking to explore this option, but from a developer's perspective.

[Q] Question: Moto X and Telcel GSM SIM in Mexico

I know there is a thread about someone using a MAXX for this purpose here - but I wondered if anyone here specifically had experience using a Telcel GSM SIM in Mexico with a Moto X.
Just a little backstory on this... I am going to Cancun in October. I have a Samsung S4 but read that it has issues using data with a GSM sim... so I did some research and, from what I have read, my best option was to get a Moto X because the radio in 4.4.4 fixed a bunch of issues with using a GSM sim and that the Moto X was truly sim unlocked - where the MAXX was locked during a recent update. From a layman's perspective, it is almost impossible to determine what the reality is... but I made the jump anyway.
I actually got Verizon to give me a free upgrade 15 months ahead of schedule when I told them that I would just add a new line and pay the ETF rather than paying full retail for the phone... after explaining to them that I wanted the Moto X because it was sim unlocked. The good news is that they didn't even extend my contract... they just let me buy a new subsidized phone, apparently.
So, now to the question at hand... has anyone had experience doing this? Do I need to do something to make it work properly?

XT1093 from us cellular for gsm network

Hi guys.
Could i use xt1093 for gsm networks. I have read about it that it has gsm in specs on (phonearena dot com/phones/Motorola-Moto-X-2014_id8897 - sorry cant post a link) but i saw that guys on ebay write something like 'Will work only in US' and similar things.
I started reading about it and found that moto x (2013) from us cellular has problems with gsm (it didnt support gsm at all - and this is correct because us cellular is cdma) but i havent found anything similar to moto x 2014. It looks like this phone will work with gsm networks in europe, isnt it?
P.s. I am a noob with wp htc hd7, so I dont know anything about locking and i would like to dive into android but first of all i need a Android device Thanks
Bump. Was also wondering the same thing. has anyone here used an XT1093 on GSM outside US or even on T-MO/AT&T?
I used to work at us cell. They have a hybrid network. CDMA for voice, however the SIM card does support gsm for their lte. However on the original moto x they SIM card domestically was locked and was only for data. It would work for gsm out of the country but not in. So no matter what you do would not work on AT&T or T-Mobile. I left in April though and am not sure if they did the same with the new moto x 2014 with all the new carrier laws coming into effect for 2015. Typically us cell paid less money for the phones so they only had the antenna frequencies pertinent to them. Unlike Verizon who loads their phones with like every antenna on the planet. Lol. Hope this helps.
Hey!
It honestly really does help. I live in Asia with 2100 band for UMTS. I think i might just gamble on one
unlocking xt1093
I own this phone. Paid for it outright. Unfortunately it is simlocked, and the unlock code US Cellular provided didn't work. Neither did the several unlock codes I've purchased online. If anyone has any suggestions, my phone is available for abuse.

When you say the code didn't work do you mean the code input you get when you put in a t-mobile or at&t sim? what message do you get after you input the code?

teamuscellular dot com Forum/topic/7567-how-to-root-moto-x-2014-bootloader-unlock-too/
i have already rooted and bootloader unlocked my moto, maybe some one will get lucky and find a exploit for this, most of moto x 2nd is no problem to unlock, i even search for some crack moto x 2nd to buy a mainboard but on ebay there is only a LCD / touch screen notting more
maybe is possible to do that same what with Photon Q 4lte ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929143 )
Good news!
I have called US Cellular they told me that If I update to android 5.0 they will unlock my device.
however I cannot update to android 5.0 since phone says I am most updated.
so I tried to follow youtube manuals and I figured the android 5.0 for out XT1093 isnt out there yet
and installation doesnt accpet XT1095 file update
Nice!! What you sed to them and with part of u.s. cellular you spoke? And why update to lollipop is needed ?.. I have lollipop but i flashed software for xt1095..
Maybe they in official update software put some unlocking line in sources code ..
Give us some more info about your phone conversation plesae
*bump
I have some idea what could help us to unlock xt1093 , regarding to this subject ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-success-sim-unlock-sprint-xt1056-t2825155 ) its about unlocking moto x first gen.
user samwathegreat find solution in one of NV-items edit #8378 from 00 to 01 ( unlocked device from locked has this diffrent amount over that NV ) he campare nv-item and memory dump from this phones.
I do that same ( change this amount in moto x 2nd) but unfortunetly does not work for me , probably simlock request is in other NV value for moto x 2nd.
I have some idea, i have flashed system with software from XT1095 over my xt1093 , if someone can do a backup of NV dump with DFS CDMA tool from unlocked XT1095 we can check diffrences and find the unlock solution ( or even flash whole NV dump to our phone )
***
Im very sorry but i need to ask You @samwathegreat what you think about it ? is there any possiblity to do it ? your experience is probably the bigest. Once again sorry for disturbance , but i dont know better persone to ask.
kindly regards

Looking to get XT1095 or XT1097 or something else for AT&T

I have XT1053 (Moto X 2013 Developer Edition GSM) and it is broken. I use it on AT&T and LTE support is important. It was on 4.2.2 and I never upgraded to 4.4 as it seemed all later versions just brought different problems and I never needed any new features. I haven't followed 5.1 too much but if it was any good there would not be threads here about downgrading on its forum, right?
My options are (I need to do something fast because I leave for vacation in Europe at the end of the month and would like to use phone there. I don't want anything larger than 5"):
1) Send it to Motorola and for $100 they will fix it. Probably just replace with refurb. But what version of Android will it come with? Does anyone know?
2) Get 2014 Moto X, but what version? It seems "Pure Edition" (XT1095) didn't support AT& LTE bands out of the box but they were upgraded later and that enabled it. Yet I found posts that AT&T IMEI database apparently doesn't list XT1095 as having these bands and phone doesn't connect to LTE on AT&T. One has to proved IMEI from another phone. My AT&T SIM is now associated with 1053, so maybe I would be OK? Has all this been officially rectified?
Has Lollipop upgrade on 2014 Moto X been as bad as it was on 2013?
3) Get XT1097 (AT&T version of Moto X 2014) - I don't like the fact that it only comes with 16GB of storage. Also, can it be rooted/bootloader/SIM unlocked?
4) Get some other phone and here I just don't know what to consider in 5" size because I haven't been following Android phones recently.
Feedback and answers appreciated.
