[Q] Galaxy S5 mini or Galaxy note 3 neo ? - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone ,
i have a little question
I had already a samsung galaxy s4 value edition, and I have already solded , and now i want a buy a another smartphone
which is the best? Samsung galaxy note 3 neo or Samsung galaxy s5 mini ( Finger print i love it hihi but check this comment from another member for finger print http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55297050&postcount=4 his say isn't fluid ) , or i buy again s4 value edtion
Sorry for my bad english

Purchase the the mini s5. :good:
I have no problems with fingerprint.
Runs very well. :good:
In addition, we need here in the mini forum every man.
Maybe you're a dev and can make good Roms for us... :fingers-crossed:
Purchase the S5 mini brother ! :highfive:

thank you very much , i have another question , for battery life is it good ? I await the opinions of other people and i I'll buy

I recommend Note 3 Neo because it has the s-pen which is great, it's bigger than S5 mini with 1 inch and it's more performance. You need to thing two times before you buy one of these phone. Note 3 neo is performance, but s5 mini has a fingerprint sensor and it is water resistence.
Sent from my GT-I9505

Ok the battery is only 2100mAh and the Neo has 3100 mAh.
My phone is now running 17 hours and I still have 68%.
I make some phone calls, internet and email.
But you have to decide now.
The mini has some features that the neo has not.
Fingerprint, Heart Rate Monitor, Waterproof ...
@ Radu27
Yes S-Pen is good.I also have a Galaxy Note 2. :good:

The two phones are very different. We got both in our family. The note neo is the big one which you can use best with both hands. The S-pen is a goodie but is not often used. The display is very good and the os works fluid.
The S5 mini is my new favorite. It's perfect to use with one hand, very fast and got an very sharp and detailed display! The fingerprint sensor never got any problem.
You have to decide between a business phone (used with 2 hands) with the pen (writing or painting) or a small one which you can carry with your trousers and write with one hand!
So, I hope this will be helpful. Excuse my English.

I strongly disagree with the guy above about the S5 minis display. It's soooo far from sharp and detailed as it gets. The 720p resolution just doesn't do it on this phone. It's impossible to read small fonts and read Web pages without zooming. Unfortunately a deal breaker for me!

i can not trade up my note 1 to note 2 by adding about a 260$...
should i do it? that the hard question, 260$ doesn't lay down on the street...

The Note II is amazing, but there will always be a new phone on the horizon.
Get your money's worth out of what you have now. If you can sell it for a good
price, like >75% of its current value, you still lose.
I love my note 1. But having said that and going through how Samsung treated us with the emmc bug, I will be only picking up nexus devices from now on. Direct updates from Google is a boon. My opinion completely.

Ask yourself the following questions:
What makes the Note 2 better then Note 1?
And are those changes game breaking?
Are those changes worth "upgrading" phone?
Like someone above me said: New phones come out each day.
My opinion: Wait for "the next big thing"
Note 1 can do almost the same things as Note II
I was at a best buy today and got a chance to look at the note II up close. Honestly my galaxy notes screen looked crisp and sharper than the display model Note II. And I really liked the 16x10 screen ratio on my note. I'll wait for the Note III.

Do not expect note III to have 16 x10 screen ratio. It will be 16 x9 with full HD maybe.
Any way Samsung to update the Galaxy Note directly to Android 4.1.2
so stick to Note 1 have some experience, compare and then decide about upgrade to note 2

I also noticed this too, but it is odd ! How can note 1 screen be sharper and brighter and note 2?

I was eager to buy note II but when the xls2 firmware was available I decided to not spend the money because JB in note 1 its awesome.. TW UX was the what made me stay with note I... And now we even have multi windows so I see no point for upgrading until at least SGS IV.. The beast its coming in no time with the latest samsung processor/gpu and the latest screen technology.. With 5" Screen... Guess it has no physical buttons..
Tapatalking on my n7000
yeah probably that why samsung delaying the official release of jb..
I would wait a couple of months before upgrading, they're just about to release a string of 1080p quad core phones in late Jan early Feb.

Agreed and as has been said before note 2 screen (in my opinion) is not game chagingly better and as Note 1 can do much of the things the 2 can wait and see what comes early next year.
If Sammy continue as they have the note 3 is less than a year away anyway.
The GNII screen seemed fuzzier and less sharp than my note. Honestly I went into the store looking to buy the Note II but when I saw how fuzzy the screen was I was turned off. My screen seemed brighter and crisper. And yes I went into the Note II display settings and jacked the brightness all the way up and picked the same dynamic screen mode that my note I used.
I feel my Note can hold me over without issue until the Note III. And 16x9 is not a huge thing to get used to, I understand that is the standard. I really enjoyed the 16x10 though...
Just got rumours on galaxy s4.... 8 core processor?!!

Many rumors are floating around that Samsung will be using the Exynos 5450 Quad-Core CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz, the Exynos 5450 is part of Samsung’s Exynos Series 5 and is based on Cortex-A15 Architecture, a 8-Core Mali-T658 GPU, 2GB of RAM and a 13 Megapixel rear facing camera. According to our Korean Insiders, Samsung will be equipping the Galaxy S IV with a stunning 4.99″ SuperAMOLED Display with a resolution of 1920×1080 (1080p Full HD) giving the display a 441PPI Pixel Density and the display is already in Mass Production.

That's just pure sex.... Not sure I can wait for note 3 with that on offer.

If these rumors hold true and the GSIV actually comes out with a 4.99" screen, do you think Samsung will just merge the Note functionality with the Galaxy series and just produce one single device rather than two? I mean it makes sense. One device with large screen and S Pen functionality. They seem to be making the Galaxy phone screen larger and larger, why not right?
I gave a try to Note II yesterday, compared 2 web sites side by side and to my surprise, Note I display is somehow better. Display ratio on Note I is also still better.
Smoothness in Note II was not noticeable, no reason to upgrade at the moment. There would be 1 way to get involved and it is smart dock, but that thing is not that common now and I guess with Note III it will be more polished and apps got more optimization, so it will be like Padphone I guess.
Note I is simply better, not by hardware of course, but how everything fit together.

Is the Galaxy Note 4 your first Samsung phone? (poll)

I am buying a Galaxy Note 4 on Friday. This will be my first ever Samsung phone.
I've previously avoided them due to the extra software, but this time around the combination of hardware was just too much. I really like phones that feature capacitive buttons because I think it's much more efficient, and that really reduces the number of high end flagship phones a lot.
I wish the phone were slightly smaller, but I'll manage.
What about the rest of you? Is this is your first Samsung phone? (poll in thread, please vote)
Not my first, just upgraded from S4 GT-i9506. Picked up my new Note 4 today and I'm already loving it
I've stuck with samsung as I think keeping SDCard support, unlocked bootloader (although now with the new KNOX it voids warranty) and replaceable battery are worth the extra (albeit small due to my carrier) bloatware added to their devices and all the bloat can be removed (depending on your carrier).
Previously I had the Galaxy 5 (not the S5) and the Galaxy S3
No, moved on from GS3. Won't be rooting it for at least a year I guess so don't care about knox counter, most unwanted bloatware can be disabled unlike the GS3 at the beginning, so yeah, having fun with N4 so far.
I've seen the light. Ditching my iphone. I just want the freedom of android and the superior hardware of the Note.
From Samsung Galaxy S2 which was my first smartphone to Samsung Galaxy note 4.
There is something about Samsung electronics as a whole that appeal to me.
My TV is a sammy and my next one will be as well...
SIII was my first Samsung phone
I got an S2 around the time the S4 came out. Untill now i really liked my s2's screen as the colours and blacks were a lot better compared to other phones like iphone and most lcd screens
now i finally got my note 4 and every morning when i wake up i'm like wow its amazing
Its the first one i actually paid myself so its a yes and a no to me
Had a tmobile camera samsung phone back in 2001 or 2002. Then had numerous other phones. And the Galaxy S1, Note 2, Note 4.
Nope had Samsung Epic 4G before.
I600 Blackjack
I900 Omnia
I9000 Galaxy S
P6800 Galaxy Tab 7.7 (yes I used a tablet as my phone for 2 years)
Note 4
Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
No, I had a S2, S3 and have a Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) besides my new Note 4.
I'm not a Samsung fanboy though, I really hate their update politics and I'm not a fan of their bloatware. Touchwiz is okay though.
On the other hand I like their hardware and of course the stylus that comes along with the Note series.
The Samsung service in Germany is also pretty good.
First Samsung phone, yes, but I have Note 10.1 tablet and it's quite great even for his age. I wrote hundreds of pages on it.
It's not my first Samsung, but it is my first note. my first Samsung was the Reality u820
Nope, I had a Galaxy s2 first then a Galaxy s4 after that, both phones lasted perfectly until upgrade time, including great battery life and Android updates.
First smartphone was a nokia n8.?
later i had a HTC Desire and HTC one x
I wanted a fast phone with sd and removable battery and choose for note 4
I like it very much and it's my best and fastest phone ever

Started with the Captive -> S2 -> Note 1, S3, Note3, S4, and now Note 4
Nope, upgraded from my GS4 32GB I9500 3weeks ago to my metal beauty Note 4
Also had S2 16GB and S3 32GB, so its in no way my 1st Samsung, and if the Note 5 is even better than this awesome thing then I wont be leaving Samsung anytime soon.
HTC WFS - Nexus 4 - Nexus 5 - Note 4
Ive had the S2, S3, S4, Note 3 and Note 4. S3 being the weakest link, Note 4 being the strongest.
Just never liked the design on the S3 in comparison to the others. Too organic for my taste. Like the Nexus 6.

Why do you prefer Samsung Galaxy Note series?

Samsung has sold over 60 million Galaxy Note devices over the past three years.
What is the main reason why you prefer the Galaxy Note? Please vote and leave comments.
It's my first Note. When I saw the first Note I was like "Hell no, that phone is way too big" I thought my s3 was big enough. Flash forward 3 years after going from a 5.2" s5 to a 5.5" LG G3 and then the 5.5 yet slightly bigger OnePlus one the 5.7" Note 4 wasn't much of a stretch. I was contemplating the Nexus 6 but I felt that in terms of Phablet the Note 4 had so much more to offer for an extra 100$. So far I do have a couple of gripes but they're all software related therefore fixable. I was going to keep it as my backup device but after finding out all it can do I had a change of heart and decided to keep it as my daily driver. Note 4 FTW :good:
Went from Note 2 to Note 3, then OnePlus One, now the Note 4. OnePlus is a fine phone, especially for the price, but once you've integrated the s-pen into your daily life it's hard to go back. Every other "phablet" is a big phone and nothing more. The Note series delivers a lot of extra functionality that sets it apart and makes it more than just a big phone.
I only can choose 1 reason, but actually I've got more than 1 :
1. I like the design
2. I like the big screen & S pen
3. It came out in second half of the year, so it will get fastest update rather than other samsung phones, or it will get latest if google released the new android faster than usual
(Samsung is #1 choices in my city, great availability, great service center, and so on)
4. It has latest SoC, best specs on sheet
5. I have try them in SES in my city, and I can use a lot of its features
i have loved the first note and it only made sense to me to upgrade every year with the note series ( would have broken it with then note 4 if the edge was available lol)

It's Galaxy *Note* Edge, isn't it?
iR¡[email protected]!* from i9505 via Tapatalk 4
Multitasking.
Great screens.
S-Pen (more with Note 4 than Note 3 tbh).
Design and quality feel (more so with the Note 4 than the Note 3).
Build quality.
Camera.
Loved my Note 2, and when sprint decided to release the Note 3 non sparked i had to go elsewhere (principalities) but I'm so happy to be back in the Note family. I actually don't use the spen as much as i should but this phone is so much more then that for me. A quality device with excellent specs! And works great with my Tab S!

Note 1 - initially for screen size and performance
Note 2 - for the stylus note taking plus other Note features
Note 10.1 - Business functions with multi Windows and Note taking
Note 8 - wanted more portable Note 10 and better speed
Note 3 - really good stylus functions and multi windows. Also Wolfson sound card.
Note 10.1 2014 - replacement for my Note 10.1
Note 4 - looking to replace my Note 10.1 2014 but did not work out so looking forward to the 10.1 2015 device. Really like power and using Knox for business security

Doesn't Note 8 have the same CPU&GPU as Note 10.1?
Anyway, my Note 10.1 is very fast. The problem with it was Samsung for some reason released it with buggy firmware and all reviewers put into their reviews that it lags like hell - while the first update fix that problem altogether, the reviews stayed.
PS. And of course you have to keep some GBs free on the sdcard because otherwise it will slow down considerably. It is a known issue of most mobile devices caused by poor flash memory, I hope we will see SSDs in tablets soon.

They're all great products if exploited properly
I chose Top Performance and Multitasking e.g. the smoothness and speed of UI, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 805 and incredible battery performance.
But I must admit, the disappointing Galaxy S5, the metal frame of Note 4 , its jaw dropping 5.7inch display and the fact Samsung made its Note series its premium range, all had me wanting this beast to
The awesome screen is the primary reason. I liked the firm factor of my prior LG G3 better BUT not the display.
.Note 4 is much better from my experience. Also tried the IP6 Plus for 2 weeks but my sidebyside comparison for a few days says the N4 is much better screen...especially for reading Kindle books / magazines.

Regarding the big screen vote - it is a surprise for me because there are many different devices with big screens and high resolution now.

Well I can't single out one reason. I love the size of the screen with its great display, great performance, and the SPen! Hard to single anything out. Compared to the other phones of this caliber I'd say the SPen helped to stick out. Plus I'm not a fan of Droids, iPhones and LG phones for various reasons.
Sadly, I think the multitasking is just not as good as it should be w/o root. It only supports a few apps, so that's out! :/
All I need for it to be perfect is root :good: okay, and maybe waterproofing and 64-bit processor but really that's just being spoiled

Is note 5 worth buying

Hello guys need yr opinion here
Right now i am having s5 and is confused between note 5 and ipad mini 4 but now made up my mind for note 5
So plz tell me that is it worth buying
I mean i need a phablet or big enough screen device that is easy to carry amd have good display and performance
Plz help me
Get note 5 better screen, camera, speed. IPad mini 4 has older specs compared air and it shows.
http://www.gsmarena.com/best_buy_free_gear_vr_with_qualifying_purchase_of_samsung_galaxy_smartphone-blog-16241.php
Since you have made up your mind for a Note 5, just go for it
had every note before and was annoyed like crazy that the note 5 didn't have a changeable battery and sd card slot. However I was so bored with the note 4 as had it from launch, so in Dec bought the 5. Battery is very good (all day easily), 64gb is useable if not a pita with the gear VR, but overall its fast, reliable, good s pen and good looking....if only I could change the battery and not be memory restricted....hint hint Samsung.

Galaxy note 5 buying in mid 2019 ?

well as the title says i'm really curious that is it worth buying the note 5 in mid 2019 since i was in the market to buy a phone i can find s7 and note 5 to be in the same price tag and both are in good condition and (used phones both of em) i got confused which i should buy s7 or note 5 and my bet was on the note 5 until i saw both prices and i would like to hear your guys opinion that which one should i buy. ( i wanted s-pen features coming from note 3 )
The Note 5 was a great phone. The only reason I traded it in was the amazing Note 8 promotion. I found it to be every bit as fast as the S7 and the larger flat screen is much better.
The only considerations I would make:
-The Note 5 stopped getting updates at 7.0 Nougat whereas the S7 got 8.0 Oreo.
-The Note 5 does not have Always on Display and would require a third party app for this feature where it's built into the S7
-The S7 has water resistance, the Note 5 does not.

what about xda support well i was gonna buy note 8 but since it's still have 1000$ tag in my country rip :x so i thought note 5 would be a good choice but s7 was available to and have you rooted your note 5 with any Samsung experience rom along with Gcam ? The S7 has water resistance, about this i think i should be cautious since im buying a refurbished phone

the note 5 is still a pretty solid phone and if you install a good rom you can get aod and other features too, but the development is pretty much dead, so I'd go for the s7 edge. It has a better low light camera and the xda support is comparatively better too. Also not to mention expandable storage. Have both currently and if you dont need the s pen that much the s7 edge is a better choice.
