[Q] Moto G Charging Time - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, How much time does it take u to charge your 2nd gen moto G from 0 to 100 running stock and locked botloader. I'm having an issue with my device, it takes 3 hours to charge with wifi and mobile data off. Is it the same with everyone ?

I am using my Lumia's charger and phone gets charged in a hour from 0-100%

I will have an answer for this in a few days.

Theoritically it should take 225mins to charger from 0-100% with stock charger..
Anyone knows maximum charging rate?

Just did a full charge (0-100%) without the OS running. Took 2 hours. I'm using Anker Power IQ 40W 5-port desktop charger and Moto's USB cable.
Remember, quality of the cable (as well as the charger) directly affects charge time. So try to use official or high quality cable and charger

Mine also takes almost 3 hours. That is because they have given a 500mAmp charger . I am using my iPad charger block rated at 2.1A and it charged from 25% to 100% in 70 minutes

Yep,
Use a 2 Amp charger and you will get full charge in 1.5 hours.

[Q] How much time does it take to recharge?!!

Hello everyone. My Tab takes about 8 hours and 20 minutes to recharge itself, is that normal?!!
I have the official cable and a generic 5v-2amp wall charger.
Do I have to get the official wall charger and where can I find it, coz I don't want to spend another $20 while I already have the cable...
8 hours is a really really long time ? ? i think you need to buy a original charger .. where to find : nearest Samsung Service center tho .
Chargers go bad. My stock charger just died when I went to the desert with no chance of getting another charger.

3-4 hours from 10% to full charge on original charger.....However if you have electronics knowledge you can patch your non orig charger so that it will charge your tab faster. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845844&page=3
So, I guess I'll have to get the original charger. I found a very good deal... I think:

If you go to the desert on foot no way to charge....
But if via off roader/4 wheel drive then via the cigar lighter using the adaptor I linked to earlier
yeah get the original charger, mine takes like 3-4hrs if that...
mine is original samsung, 5v 2amp. Take about 8 hours to fully charge the battery. What about your charger voltage rating?

The generic one is 5v~2Amp. Why are there different reports on that? Is there any setting or may be under-volting settings that we need to enable for this?

Well, I have a SGT7 Plus (P6200) and I usually charge it at 20% or lower.
It takes about 3-4 hours to full recharge while it's off

10 hours total on 4G? That's not terrible.
Charge via USB that is connected to your PC takes forever...but it does charge.
But if you unplug it and charge via the power adapter, it is much faster.
i charged mine via usb and the wall socket, wouldn't go past 50%.
I went to bed and plugged it in to teh wall charger (charge for ~7 hours), checked when i woke up, 50%
went to the verizon store and they gave me a new battery (started at 50%). plugged the phone in 2/3 hours ago, im still at 50%
my dad mentioned it could be a bad fuel gauge chip (he works at TI)
So for whatever reason, you have to use the charger that came in the box. I've had the same problem, but it was because I was using chargers from older Moto phones and HTC phones. Now that I'm using the actual Bionic charger, it's charging fast like it should.
Silly, but it apparently is the case.

From what I've read about newer handsets, the phone needs some time to figure out know how to convert raw readings into percentage of capacity. I believe, the phone figures out how much charge a battery has based on the voltage. And, I don't think the relationship is linear.
My battery seemed to be horrible the first day. Today, I've gone through 30% after 5 hours, with the screen being on for 35 minutes and wifi connected for just under two hours. I don't know if the battery is "breaking in" or the phone is reading the level differently, but things are looking better.

Charging time and use

Hi,
How long does it usually take u guys to recharge ur note from dead or almost?
It took mine. Over 8 hours to charge from 12%.
Also if keep my note on charge but im usimg it for browsing or whatever, my note still dischares.
Is this normal for the note as my htc Desire didnt diacharge while using it while connected to the charger.
Thanks

Hmmm I've never really timed it but its gotta be around 4hrs for a full charge.
I have been playing Stardom even when charging and it gains battery.
That doesn't sound normal at all.
If u r charging from USB port den its possible. Charging from ac will be a different story
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Charging by USB is at around 12% per hour, so it does take 8 hours.
Charging by a/c is upwards of 35%/hr.
Some of the apps usage would demand battery usage at 20-25% per hour, so if your battery usage is more than your charging rate then you would be losing battery which is what might have happened when you are using USB charging etc.
If your stats are for a/c charging, then I suspect the charger.
Yeah i charged for 8 hours with ac and also got discharge while using the note and charging.

Depends on what you are using for, but it still doesn't sound right.
Mine charges from 5% to full in about 3 hours when it's just sitting
on the table and I'm just using it for a phone call every now and then.
charging shouldn't take more than 4 hours when done from an AC outlet. just check if you have original batteries and charger. if not, take it to the shop and get it replaced immediately. 8 hours is just too much.

When you are using it heavily while charging it might be normal,
try leaving it alone while charging for one cycle, that'll give you
an indication.
If it's still substantially higher than 3 to 4 hours under these circumstances
you've got a problem, either battery or charger have an issue, or there's an
app sucking battery like hell.
as said, 3-4 hours is normal. Do you have a battery drain issue when in normal use? if yes, then u can use betterbatterystats to check which process is using the juice.
Also, its advisable (in the first cycle after flashing a rom) to charge the phone with switched off. After full charge, take out the battery, wait for 1 min , reinsert & restart. This will help to reset the battery & start afresh.
From 8% to 100% with the charger it took me less than 3 hours.
I only charge by USB on my PC and its never taken close to 8 hrs for a full charge..
The only time charging has taken a very long time for me is when I ran a ICS ROM.
So i did a charge with my usb cable and it tool half the time. Maybw theres a problemwith my ac charger.

How long does it take to fully charge your Z1

as the title says,
How long does it take to fully charge your Z1 from 0%?
mine takes 2.5 - 3 hours, I do think that this is quite a lot although it is faster than my old xperia S which took ~2 hours with almost half the battery size. But I was expecting more improvement from the promised 70% with quick charge 2.0. This is around ~40% improvement, or am I missing something?

I don't think Quick Charge 2.0 adapters are out till early 2014. Even if they are, the one that came with my Z1 doesn't support it. Only Quick Charge 1. You can tell because the output is listed on the adapter (mine is 1500 mA).
Quick Charge 1 works on .7 to 2.5 A. Quick Charge 2 is 4+ A. (Standard USB 2.0 port will provide 500 mA while USB 3.0 will provide 900 mA).
So my 1.5 Amp Z1 charger isn't even at the top end of Quick Charge 1. With that said, I haven't tested a full charge. But if plugged into a USB 2.0 port, it barely charges while phone is on (few percent an hour maybe).

what you said does really make sense because quick charge 1.0 promise ~40% faster charge which I reported in my first post (+1 for that). Now is there any way to check whether the Z1 support quick charge 2.0? I know the chip S800 does, but what about the battery software or other internals (I am not really expert in this area). if it does then when new adapters are released with output more than 1500mA we will get faster charge time. I have my nexus 7 charger which says 2000mA, would this make difference and would it hurt the Z1 battery if I used it?
One last thing, if the output is 3000mA does that mean half the charging time? or there are other things to take into account?

All Snapdragon 800 chips have the QC2.0 circuit so we're good. Just have to wait for chargers.
I'm not an electrical engineer (studied mechanical) so I can't comment on things like losses within the charging process and all that technical stuff. However you have the concept right and in general that should be true. 3A charging a phone should charge it twice as fast as 1.5A

I've just made one test from 6% to 100% it take more than 2 hours i don't know if it was with qcharge 2 i've used the dk31 with a old AC to usb.
Other charge are made from 30-40% to 100%.
Mine takes an average of 2/3 hours to charge from 5% to 100%, I do however only use 1 Amp charges which are old phone chargers. I think I shall get my Note 2 plug out which is a 2 Amp charger and see how that gets on, I totally forgot I had it and I kinda annoyed me with its hissing noise...Even though I found out later it's normal!

The iPhone 5 has a battery half the size of this... I personally take about 2 -3 hours to fully charge the phone using the Sony provided charger!
Started Charging at 1:06 am - Battery was fully discharged.
1:23am Put Phone on - Battery at 11%
2:31am Put screen on - Battery at 52%
3:06am : Put screen on - battery at 73%
4:19am Put screen on - battery at 99%
4:26am Put screen on - Battery fully Charged .
I think the problem with the provided charger where the output is only 1500mA. the SGS4 with sd600 (does not support quick charge 2.0) comes with charger with output 2000mA which I tried with my Z1 and slightly improved the charging time. what we discussed earlier about early 2014 release of the quick charge 2.0 compatible chargers is the solution, I found couple of sources that confirm this. so we hope that better chargers to be released soon with 3000mA + ouput which would reduce the charging to to less than half.
it took 1 hour 40 min to go from 20% to 100%, I'm using the charging dock that came with the phone.

Can someone tell me how long the actual charging time exactly takes ?
I use the original charger that comes with the device and it takes about 3 to 4 hours to fully charge the watch.
I find that quite long as I read the comments here.
The first tames it takes only 1,5 hours to charge it but all the other times it goes real slow.
A factory reset didn't help to resolve this issue.
Thanks.
As far as i remember battery have a capacity 410mAh, original charger have power output 700mAh, so charging time should be about 40-45 minutes max.
Change usb cable, if it doesn't help change charger (but it should have power output >700mAh)
PS. AFAIK using charger with power output >700mAh is harmless because watch limits charging current by itself.
Measuring charging time is best indicator.
Charging with 2.0A adapter will not increase the charging speed - the watchregulates the charging current, it will not just blindy "connect" the charger to the battery (in fact, I can't think of any piece of electronics that would have the charging logic in the adapter nowadays).
I had no problems with any chargers, not even with USB charging - the battery is very small, so unless you have a charger that can't put even 500mA you should have no problem.
I've seen an issue where the watch was "charging" constantly and ended with 85% and wouldn't charge anymore - reboot fixed that and it showed 100%.
I was thinking that your charge takes so long because you could have some process draining your battery in the meanwhile (that starts when you connect your phone, like a tasker thing or smt). Newbie thoughts so correct me if this is impossible
I could try to do a factory reset and see after that if it charges much faster then now.
For the moment i have a few apps on the watch, i do not know if it matters or not for to influence the charging time.
It's weird that we do not have the ability to load the watch while it is off.
From the moment that i put it on the charger it turns on automatically !
hello my friends.
the charging dock is limited to 0.85 A (850mA)
It makes not more sense to use a Adapter with 2.0 A Output. It won't charge faster.
Look if every pin on your dock is ok.
also the connection pin on your watch.
Try to clean a little bit with high percentage alcohol.
best regards
Problem solved by using another USB cable.
Now fully charged in 1,5 till 2 hours.
I haven't measured the charging time of my watch but it looks to me pretty fast. I guess with original charger 30 mins - 45 max, not a min more.

Hi,
that statement isn't particularly correct. The charging system in the watch (as with any LiIon battery) will draw as much current as is "good for it" and no more.
Just because a charger offers 2A doesn't mean that this is the amount of current flowing through the charger / battery!
